Watkins Carpet Cleaning

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. They were fine. They were quick, efficient and they did a good job. They came shortly after I purchased the deal. They had an opening and they got us in pretty quick.

This is the best carpet cleaner we have had in the 43 years we have lived in this home. He responded quickly to my phone call and set up service the next day. Carpets came out cleaner than with any previous provider. I particularly liked the fact that he blew dried the carpets before leaving. Thus he did not leave wet carpets to pick up dust, dirt, and stains after he left. I have nothing negative say about this provider.

Great to work with, showed up on time and fully explained what he would do. I had purchased a "Big Deal" coupon and decided to have him do additional work. He fully explained what he would do and the charges. Very nice and professional.

Walt is great. He did everything I asked and also cleaned a couple of chairs at no cost. My wife and I have been very pleased both times we have used their services. This is a family business that We just liked. Add high quality service and we think we have found a winner.

Scott and Allen showed up on time and were warm and professional. Explained what they needed to do and what equipment they needed to bring in. They assured me upon completion that everything would be fine and if there were any questions or concerns to please call them. I told them that they will be getting a call from my friends and family.

I am not favorably impressed. They arrived on time, but handed me canister and spray gun and asked me to start treating one of the areas upstairs. I refused, and the guy said he was just kidding, and took back the canister. He asked me to help him move my sofa out to our muddy front yard so that he could treat it outside and let it dry in the sun. He had me sign a document saying that I would not complain if the sofa got ruined. The sun moved over the course of drying, so the part in the shade got ruined. He still charged me for that. As far as carpet cleaning goes, that part went okay. Just don't let them do upholstry. I did not find their rates any less expensive than local cleaners. I wish that Angies List would create a zone for the Temecula/Murrieta populace of 200,000 residents instead of forcing us to seach among services in far-away Los Angeles or San Diego. It was difficult to schedule this Redlands-based service because they had to drive so far. I will not be using Watkins again.

I choose them because one of the reviews said that they do a really good job on pet stains and we have pet stains. We called them and they came, it was the owner and two crew. Their system is different. They use a big container to collect the water and a big container for fresh water and they use your sink and your water. It was more wet than I expected it to be. It took longer to dry and if you walk on it, you will get prints on your other flooring and our wood floor has footprints all over it. The professionalism was not there. They did not seem to be organized and they did not have a good method of protecting your furniture. They put my coffee table to close to the door, they kept going in and out, and now I have three little dings on my coffee table. The crew did not seem well trained or organized. The owner kept yelling at one of the crew and fired him right there in my house. There was a lot of yelling being done by the owner and that made me very uncomfortable. I as a customer do not need to be exposed to that. If you have a problem, take it outside and do not do it in front of me. The crew was fine and they tried to apologize for the owner. I would not hire them again because it was too uncomfortable of an experience, regardless of the work. The carpets came out nice and the carpet stains were gone that day, but they came back, which he warned us about, they just were not as bad as they had been before. The odor came back, just not as bad as before.

Had my carpets cleaned to ready our home to rent out. The carpet is very high quality, though it is around 10 years old and therefore a bit "tired." After the cleaning, my carpets look brand new. There was an area of rust next to a wall where there had been a leak on the other side of the wall. It didn't come all the way out, so I called and Scott was there the next day to completely remove it. He also noticed a few areas in the hallway he wasn't happy with so he removed those also. I didn't notice them, and I'm pretty particular. I was very impressed with the high level of expectation he has for his work. I will definitely use them again.

I recently purchased a new home and prior to that I was renting a home for my family and I. I called Watkins Carpet cleaning out to clean the carpets on the rental which was part of a contractual obligation as a renter. I was somewhat worried about the shape of the carpet as we have two dogs and a toddler who is always making messes. The carpet was very stained in several areas and I thought I would not get any of my deposit back due to the shape of the carpet. Scott Watkins and his wife Carol came out and did a fantastic job, making the carpets look better then they did when we moved in! They assured me that after drying if there were any spots they would come back and take care of it. They did a double carpet cleaning and stain treatments, using absorba-stain on some of the more stubborn spots and got them out. After cleaning the carpets he used several blowers to ensure the carpet was dry before our final walk-through. He even went so far as to clean our entry way rug free of charge. We also were able to get the majority of our deposit back! Scott Watkins is very knowledgable about his field and offered fantastic customer service! I would recommend Watkins Carpet Cleaning to anyone looking for great service at a great price.

Arrived on time and got right to work. I had to change my appointment several times and they were very accommodating. I can understand why they have received the Angie's List Super Service Award.

Scott Watkins and his associate showed up in the time window agreed upon. All lamps and other items were previously removed from the end tables, dresser etc. so the men didn't have to move them. My carpets have always been cleaned using a truck mounted steam cleaning process so was surprised by the different cleaning equipment used by Watkins Carpet Cleaning. They use a portable unit with a 25' hose and a wand. The process calls for heating several buckets of water to the correct temperature, adding some cleaner and pouring the contents into their portable unit. The unit has two tanks, one for the cleaning solution and one for the vacuumed dirty solution. This setup really works! The carpets had not been cleaned for a number of years and then only in the high traffic areas, hence the request for a thorough cleaning. I was not disappointed with the results. The carpets looked really clean when the job was done. The company uses four big blowers to help dry the carpets. The men were very thorough, conscientious and meticulous in their cleaning. They worked continuously for about 2.5 hours (1500 Sq Ft). Upon leaving, Scott assured me if there was something I was not satisfied with to call him and "he'd make it right". Once the house was restored and the carpets vacuumed I notice two small dark spot and several larger shadowed areas of unknown origin. I called Watkins Carpet Cleaning and spoke with Carol who made an appointment for Scott to return. Scott and Carol both returned later to analyze the spots and determine which spot remover to use. Scott and his associate then returned two days later and removed the spots using a multi process requiring scrubbing, rubbing and the use of a steam iron with a wet towel. It took the better part of an hour to removed the spots. Scott charged an extra $70 which I thought was reasonable considering this was an unexpected event not included in his original estimate. He had told me there would not be charge if he couldn't remove the spots. I was happy, the spots were gone and the carpet look great. Scott is an educator and is very knowledgeable about his profession. He does not hesitate to share the processes of carpet cleaning. I get the impression he's a perfectionist.

Very well - used boiling hot water to steam clean every carpeted area of the house, including the closets. He first used a power burst to loosen the dirt, then steam cleaned, and then sprayed with a DuPont mixture which was similar to a Scotch Gard to protect from spills and stains. Would definitely have him return.

They did okay but it wasn't up to what I would have liked.

Not happy. Service provider proximity not clear, service provider agreed on the service delivery knowing the distance between his location and service location at beginning, the upon arrival, renegotiated addition cost for GAS. Additionally, re-estimated based on size of rooms, Angies list only indicates number of rooms and attaches cost for number of rooms

I called Watkins based on previous reviews and I was pleased with everything. Scott Watkins understands the chemistry of various stains and spots, so he could use products and procedures that got out spots other carpet cleaners haven't. He scheduled the appointment for the very next day and showed up on time. He explained everything and gave me various options and the prices for each. I chose the double procedure, which means he went over the entire house twice, once to remove previous soap and chemicals (which immediately made a visible difference) and once again to do the steam cleaning. That double procedure worked very well on my fairly dirty carpet and spots. He worked very h****** the black inkspot and got it out, which another carpet cleaner said could not be done. He and a helper moved the moveable furniture (like the couch, end tables, chairs, dining table, etc), but I didn't want the heavy bookcases, piano, four-poster bed, or big bureaus moved, so he worked around those. Other "steam" cleaners have used just hot tap water, but he uses immersible heaters in buckets of water to really get the water steaming hot, which made a real difference. Scott uses heavy-duty blowers, like the kind used after a flood or water damage, to get the carpet almost completely dry. He gave me an excellent price on cleaning the couch and two upholstered chairs. He even got out the smell where my grandson had thrown up on the couch. I used the $99 Angie's coupon for three rooms, but I have more rooms, so the basic charge was more. He and his helper were at my house for four hours doing the ink spot removal, the double procedure for cleaning, scrubbing out other spots, and doing the furniture. That seems long, but the results were worth it.

We had a very challenging carpet cleaning need. Scott and his assistant arrived promptly and explained clearly what it would take to properly clean some serious ware issues, including an ink stain. They put forth a tremendous effort and the result was very satisfying. We've used several 'big' name carpet cleaning companies in the past on various locations and carpet types and none have come close to the quality of Watkins. Two heavy duty carpet machines working at the same time and they used SEVERAL FANS FOR QUICK DRYING. They labored hard with an excellent finish. We will easily use them for all our carpet needs.

Showed up on time and worked very very hard. they did a great job and were very pleasant. They did quality work and we were extremely happy with the way our carpets looked great afterwards.

I was worried about pet stains on the carpet. Watkins cleaned the carpet and the pet stains have not come back. This is impressive, as I did not have this experience with other carpet cleaners.

They kept me informed as we went along so I knew what they were treating my sofa and carpet with and answered my questions like they really cared and wanted my business. The carpet looks like it has gotten a new lease on life, and that says a lot since it is light in color and probably 30 years old The carpet did not stretch, it kept it's shape, they cleaned next to the base boards, and always went the extra mile. We asked to have the carpet sprayed with a type of scotch guarde, which added to the price, but well wotrh the investment. The owner was present during the entire process. He was pleasant, punctual, and friendly. He gave suggestions, and when asked about cleaning a couple of chairs, he was honest enough to suggest we replace them instead of putting the money into them. The Company was very prefessional and very accommodating when arranging a date and time for service. The owner and 2 staff showed up on time and did an excellant job. When I asked them to move and clean under a heavy King Size bed I thought I'd get an argument. Instead I got a smile, a carefully moved bed and a clean carpet. I've recommended Watkins to coworkers and neighbors because I liked their attitude, work and price.

Spoke with a lady over the phone (who was having terrible cellphone reception inside her home) and wanted to schedule an appointment with Angie's list special deal. She asked me to NOT purchase the deal directly from Angie's List, instead to pay them directly. Not exactly a great impression for thanking a company that's been referring them business, but I agreed. I did point out over the phone that I'm located in Yorba Linda, and although their company pulled up near my address, their address showed Redland so I specifically asked if Yorba Linda would be too far for them. The lady said it is not. So we went ahead and scheduled for the next week. 3 hours later I received a call from Scott, who called about the appointment and kept ranting on that Yorba Linda is too far for them. I mentioned that I asked w/ the scheduling lady and she said it was fine. His response was exactly this: "we just moved down from washington state, and we don't know the area. Maybe she had thought it was Mira Loma." He asked exactly where my house was and when I told him it was by the toll road, he said he knows where that is, he got a ticket from there before. Then he went on and kept repeating that Yorba Linda is just really far, it'll be totally out of his way to come by. He also feels that my place was too small for him to make it worth his time. REALLY? I don't need to listen to how you feel about the distance or your personal history. If you want to cancel, politely apologize and then ask for a cancelation. I would be understanding of that, but not when you call to complain and act like I begged you to come clean. This is a business opportunity and possible future referrals at stake. Also, you might want to familiarize yourself with where you are doing business at. Overall a terrible experience speaking with the guy over the phone, avoiding people like this was the intention of getting on Angies List but looks like that hasn't helped one bit in this situation. I'm glad that they didn't come to clean at my home, because I don't feel they are very professional at all and wouldn't want to get into a complicated situation with them in case something goes wrong w/ the job.
