The electrician came out the next morning, because he knew this could be a big problem. After checking all the outlets on the circuit, determined it was an old, 30 year old coffee grinder. It is such a vulnerable position to put yourself in, to have computer repair work done by a stranger, and finding a truly trustworthy person to deal with can almost seem impossible.
