Description of Work: They sent someone out who was inexperienced. I'm an old plumber, so I had to go out and stop him because he was heating up the pipe so bad it was heating up the wall. What he did is crooked and looks terrible. They were prompt and helpful, but he didn't know what he was doing. I'm staying at a friend's house and he wanted them to come back out to fix their work. He tried really hard, but he just didn't know what he was doing and it looked terrible. I asked him to leave a piece of sand cloth so that I could clean the black off the pipes.

Description of Work: Jim came out in response to our AC not giving any cool air. Jim found that the coolant was low and maybe a possible leak in the line. Using his testing equipment it was determined that the line was OK just low in coolant. Jim did not try and sell us on a bunch of extras as was recommended by another firm. We got Jim for a second opinion and glad that we did. Will be using Jim in future since he was honest in his assessment of our real needs, not the big sales pitch we got from the other firm

Description of Work: I was in desperate need of an AC technician to take care of my dysfunctional swimming pool heat pump. I contacted Jim from Desert Mist, spoke about the issue, schedule a time to meet at my house in la Quinta. He never showed up, I tried to contact him several times and he never picked up the phone or called me back and when I finally got hold of him, he was the rudest person i have ever met. He said that he came to the house and the door was locked which is totally untrue. He had my cellphone number, my house number, my property manager cellphone number, my gardener phone number! If someone has an appointment and IF for some reason (which is not the case here) the person is not responding, don't you try to make a phone call? I am very upset, I have my heat pump not working and it's been going on since Thanksgiving eve, and since then I've been talking over the phone about the issue for hours and nobody yet came to see and/or fix the problem. I will not recommend this company ever!

Description of Work: AC unit was not cooling properly. Two other AC contractors thought they had the problem solved, but the problem quickly returned. The people from Desert Mist Mechanical went above and beyond in their efforts to correct the problem. It took a few trips and some new parts on a relatively new AC unit, but they stayed at it until the problem was totally corrected. They went the extra mile and I would recommend them highly.

Description of Work: My home in Heritage Palms in Indio is tenant occupied. In January, my tenants had a handyman tell them that all plastic valves in all the sinks and toilets should be replaced with stainless steel at a cost of about $455. I decided that I wanted a plumber to review the situation. Through Angie's list, I found Desert Mist Mechnical and contacted Jim, the owner. At no expense to me, he went to my desert home and looked at the problem. He called me and told me that he did not recommend that the valves be replaced. Additionally, he had told me prior to his visit to my home, that, if they did need replacement, the cost would be less that what the handyman had quoted. Jim did fix the toilet in the master bedroom at a cost of $140. I would use him again without hesitation. In fact, I need to have an old water softner removed from my garage so I will call him again, soon!

Description of Work: We were looking for someone to do a tune up of our A/C and checked on Angie's List, were we found Jim. He was very nice on the phone and we made a appointment for the next day.

Description of Work: On July 4th weekend my air conditioner suddenly stopped working. I put in a call to Desert Mist; I had used them before for an emergency plumbing problem a few months earlier by way of Angie's list, and was so impressed with the performance I didn't hesitate to call them again when the a/c broke. Most efficient and dependable service I've ever used. I give them 5 stars.

Description of Work: My wife and I needed work done on several bathroom issues. We have 3 full bathrooms of which 2 had shower valves that were not working correctly and we needed a new bar type showerhead installed in our master bath. We called Desert Mist and were impressed by the initial phone call. We setup an appointment with Jim and he was very responsive and prompt. Jim was very down to earth and honest with his evaluation of the problems and said that he could take care of all the issues.
