Advertised deal whether by administrative error or bona fide bait and switch scam fell apart after true conditions were made known. Left bad taste in mouth and requested refund.

The folks at Your Energy Solutions took the time to carefully go over all energy saving solutions including LED light bulbs, window film, whole house fans, radiant barrier and solar panels. We had already taken action on many of their suggestions, so we were ready to invest in solar panels. They spent a great deal of time going over all the details of the systems that they offer. It was nice to be able to physically look at all the panels in their showroom. Once we made the decision, they were prompt and professional with their communication and their work. We had one small glitch... The Envoy wireless communication module that came with our system did not work when first installed, and they resolved the issue very quickly. We are 100% satisfied, and would recommend their work without reservation. Update a year later: Our solar panels are working great! We are getting close to our True-Up statement from PG& E for the year, and it looks like our electricity bill for the entire year will be about $300.00. We couldn't be happier!!

So far it has been great. It has been a five star performance on their part. Basically they laid out what they were going to do, they told me what it was going to cost and they were out here to do the work and they were here on time. The installers were exceptional, they came in and did a great job. It is one of the better contractors that I have had dealings with.

By far the best contractor I've ever dealt with. The company is extremely professional and is easy/effective to communicate with. The contract is comprehensive and is well-written, covering nuances typically ignored by other companies. The employees are very knowledgeable and can provide solid advice on the optimal solar system needed to net the customer the most amount of money. Other firms tend to not optimize this by recommending more panels than needed, which ends up costing more than paying the Tier1, lowest, electricity rate for some usage. The vendor is also very good at coordinating with others while making it invisible to the home owner (roofer, GE, city inspector). The solar panels were installed much faster than expected - 1 day on a Saturday - this was extremely convenient!

New explanations as to why the quote was delayed have caused me to revise this review.

They were only one out of many installers who went up to the roof did all the tilt and azimuth measurements to come with the sizing of the system. They were flexible on the pricing and got the system installed per agreed scheduled. Awaiting Net Metering to be installed by PGE. Took care of all permits and paperwork. Install completed in 2-3 days.

Well I'm sure I was the most problem filled job of their careers! We started in the dead of winter, between weather and the manufacturer of the panels it was one delay after the next. Jim and Lou were in contact with me all the time keeping me current on the situation. At every turn they were professional and always putting my interests first. These guys even paid the electric bills I incurred during the delay. I feel this level of concern for the customer and the quality of the product speaks for its self. If I have any other solar products added to my home I will definately use Energy Solutions again Since my system has been fully operational I have a zero or very low MID bill!!! YEAH!! I live in the Modesto area with a nice size home with a pool/spa and still NO ELECTRIC BILL!! Well except for the $12.50 charge just because...

I worked with Jim Gita, originally I wanted solar panels on the roof but when Jim ran the numbers he explained how it wouldn't be worth my while as I wouldn't see the return on my investment due to the fact my eclectric bill was already low and the light concrete tile roof added to the cost of installment. We settled on a whole house fan and a solar tube for the laundry room, every detail was explained to me and spec sheets e-mailed to me so I could study the equipment before it was installed. Jim was easy to get hold of and replied within the hour if I had to leave a message. Francis the installer was one of the best contractors I have ever had work on my house he was efficient, knowledgeable and detailed orientated. The fan works great and is very quiet a great upgrade for the house and pays for itself over time by decreasing the engery hogging air conditioning usage. The solar tube installed in the dark laundry room gave me the biggest kick, for two day the family kept going in there to turn off the lights only to find natural daylight from the solar tube instead. overall the window film adds privacy and reduces sun glare in the office which had made it difficult to use a computer monitor during the morning hours. Very happy with the finished result. Don't know if there will be a utility bill reduction for air conditioning yet.

It was easy to schedule the appointment. The technician arrived on time and installed the device. Because of problems with our WiFi he left before the installation could be completed (we told him he could go and we'd finish). But we ran into electrical problems after we got the thermostat connected to the WiFi. We called Your Energy Solutions and the technician came back and finished the installation the same day. We were impressed with that level of service. The NEST has been working well since then.

I did use Your Energy Solutions probably about a month ago. It cost $21,800.00. Everything went fantastic. What I liked about them is that they have a showroom. Instead of someone just coming to your house and tell you about what they have, they actually have a showroom that you can go out and they can explain everything to you in their showroom. What panels are what, what panels do different things. Different other energy solutions. And I really appreciated that experience.

Called several times and talked to Jim requesting a bid for a 4500kW Solar system for my Home. He promised to provide me a response no less than 3 times over a 5 day period. Each time we talked, he promised to 'get right on it' an E-mail me a package. Have not heard a peep from him or anyone from Your Energy Solution. (Contact included E-mail request through their website) I have since signed a contract for my home solar system with REC Solar

We reviewed at least 5 solar installation companies before deciding to work with Your Energy Solutions. We had the pleasure to work with Lou and Steve, who were very professional and easy to work with during the whole process. Even though we could have fitted more solar panels on our roof, Lou and Steve recommended that we go with only 27 panels - the optimum system for our family. They could have said that we needed 30 panels and we would have been okay with that because we didn't know any better. In that regard, Lou and Steve were very honest and straight. They also helped me with the financing by introducing me to the branch manager at Provident Central Credit Union in San Ramon. Once we signed the contract, Lou kept me in the loop via email and phone regarding how the installation process will work. Since we were putting a new roof, Lou and his team had to work with the roofing company to have the mounts (for the solar panels) installed. I had chosen to go with the SunTech panels, but since they were on back order and I wanted to have the installation done before the end of the year, Lou and Jim agreed to install panels from Solar World at no extra charge. Even though the Solar World panels were more expensive, they did not ask me to pay more. That is going the extra mile for the customer. When the time came to install the panels, Lou had to manage the installation carefully because of the rains in early December. In the end, Lou and his team finished the work in less than 2 days. The work was done with the utmost efficiency, without compromising the quality of the work.. Lou took care of submitting all the necessary paperwork to PG&E and the City of Pleasanton. When the inspector from the City of Pleasanton came to inspect, he noticed that we did not have fire alarms installed in all the bedroooms. Lou drove out in the rain to Home Depot, picked up a 6-pack fire alarm and brought to our house. He also brought a Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarm for us. Lou did not even charge me for the fire and CO alarms. Now, that definitely exceeded our expectations by a mile. It has been nearly a month now since the solar panel installation and every thing is working perfectly as expected. Lou also helped me with setting up a account with Enphase Energy so that I can monitor the energy production from each solar panel. I am really impressed with the service and help we received from Lou and his team. I have already recommended Lou to my brother-in-law and my neighbors for solar panel installation. You will be very happy if you decide to go with Your Energy Solutions for solar panel installation. They provide the best value and service and you will not be disappointed. When I decided to look into solar panels for my house to help offset my electric bills, I started with a list from the BBB website and Yelp and Angie?s list reviews. I wound up with 7 quotes for different systems. After talking with a number of contractors, I chose Your Energy Solutions (YES), and I?m glad I did for a number of reasons. My wife and friends tease me about being a compulsive shopper ? I always research extensively before I buy anything expensive. That?s what led me to YES, and I?m now convinced that it was time well spent. First, I got to deal with Jim (co-owner, handled all the contracting and paperwork) and Lou (engineer, designed and oversaw all technical aspects of installation) directly, not just a sales rep. Some of the other companies were rather pushy and gave me questionable information, but I always felt I was getting an honest appraisal with YES, and they didn?t push me to buy more than I needed or try to tell me that the type (microinverters vs central inverters) were ?the best? ? both have advantages and disadvantages, but either technology will work fine. YES carries both types of systems, so you can get a side-by-side comparison of the pros and cons without all the sales slant. I was leaning toward the microinverter system since it would be easier to upgrade later, but Jim offered me such a good deal on a central inverter system that I was able to get a substantially larger output system for less money, and decided to go that way. I also decided to thermal barrier in the attic and the whole house fan. They really made a difference ? I hardly had to run my AC this summer, only on a few hot days. The whole house fan really cools my house off quickly, with minimal electric usage. With the credit for PG&E for the ?extra? electricity I sell back to the system during the middle of the day, my electric bills have been running less than $50 a month since I got the system put in. I?ve been monitoring my output, and it?s right where it was projected to be. Can?t complain about the system performance. The installation was flawless ? they installed the system and routed the wiring just as we agreed (on time!), painted the conduit to match the house, and you can hardly see it. Very professional ? all the conduit bends match the house, anchored securely, etc. The Livermore inspector told me it looked like a top-notch job to him as well. YES has a storefront in Pleasanton where you can go see the equipment in advance, so you get no surprises when it?s delivered. Jim and Lou met me there on a weekend when they would normally be closed to accommodate my schedule, which I really appreciated since I don?t have a lot of spare time during the week. It?s nice to know they have a place you can go see them if you?ve got a problem instead of just working out of a car. Made me much more comfortable that they were in the business for the long haul. I checked references ? everyone I spoke with was happy. Good reviews on the BBB site and Yelp. After dealing with them, I can see why. They do provide low up-front cost lease options, but if you can afford to buy yourself you?ll save a lot more money over time. They offered a lot of financing choices to chose from, so even if you don?t have any money up front you can still get a system basically for free and cut your electric bill substantially. Jim even provided a sample tax form to claim credit on my taxes when I file next year, so I wouldn?t have to guess or hire a preparer just to be sure I was filling it out right. Overall, I have a hard time pointing to any negatives in my dealing with YES. Not only did they make me comfortable dealing with them, they gave me what I?m convinced was the best deal around, and kept their word on verbal commitments even when I didn?t have it in writing. It was just a positive experience all around, and I can?t recommend them highly enough. Note: I did tell them up front that I would be reviewing their work afterward, but I did not receive any special consideration for doing so and I have no relationship with this company except this one purchase.

My 4.45 kWh solar system has been up and running for 11 months now, and I couldn?t be happier ? both with the solar system itself, and the people who installed it ? Your Energy Solutions. My electric bill for the last 11 months, on average, is pennies a day. And this is with an electric car! My interest in solar was driven by my interest in buying an electric car. As a result, I had done considerable research to educate myself (without contacting the solar vendors). I asked 4 vendors to give me a bid, including Grape Solar ( through Costco), which is how I found Jim (Your Energy Solutions). In going through the bid process, some of the things I appreciated about Jim are: - Listening skills ? Jim recognized very quickly that I was educated on Solar. So, I appreciated the fact that the time we spent was discussing which solar system, sizing the solar system, various options to buying/leasing with specific numbers, where to spend a dollar ? reducing electricity usage or a larger solar system. As a comparison, the other vendors had a sales script that they had to go through to give me a bid. - Responsiveness ? Regardless of the upfront research I did, there were numerous new questions that came up during our 3-4 week time period it took me to finally decide which vendor I?ll be going with. Jim was the most responsive ? not only in answering my specific question but also in volunteering information on things I didn?t know I should ask e.g. will the solar system being proposed require changing the electrical panel. - Price ? While Jim was not the lowest bid, he was the only one that guaranteed his price will not exceed the bid. To me I took it as a fixed-price bid. All other vendors had a fixed price for the Solar panels and their installation, plus any additional electrical work above the ?normal?. - Purchase/Lease options ? All vendors provided me with various options to purchase or lease. What was different about Jim was his research on the most current leasing programs. Jim presented me with a leasing option that was literally rolled out only a day earlier by solar panel vendor (This was a lease to own ? a lease option with an upfront one-time payment, and a negligible payment in the 7th year to own the system). Even when I asked one of the other vendors (this vendor was also proposing the solar panels from the same solar panel vendor) of this program, they came back and said it is not available. - Selling vs Buying ? From the start, working with Jim was like working with a friend. I never got the impression that he was trying to sell me anything, even after he saw the truck for another vendor in front of my house (yes, this vendor took much too long for his appointment). Jim didn?t pressure me to make any decision. Finally, when I did decide to go with Jim, I felt I was buying the solar system form him rather than him selling the solar system to me. - People ? Jim has some very good people. Besides Jim, I worked with Lou and Dan. Lou did the solar panel installation and Dan did the electrical work. All three are a class act! - Quality of workmanship ? The installation is clean. It passed the city inspection first time. The performance of the solar system has exceeded my expectations. And as I stated upfront, I am thrilled with its performance.

I was initially referred to Jim @ Your Energy Solutions by Grape Solar, whom I had contacted to find "qualified installers" of their panels. My plan was to install solar panels so that I could finally in good conscience get -and run- ducted air conditioning for my home to keep the place cool in the summer time. Jim called right back and his first words were... don't do that! He suggested a number of much simpler and cheaper options, including a whole house fan, attic fan, and radiant barrier. It made so much sense! Of course they do solar too, which I decided I wanted anyway, irrespective of the wish to power A/C. I was impressed that Jim was so reasonable and not trying to sell things that I did not need. For example, he calculated the size of solar system I would need to maximize my return on investment, rather than trying to push the largest possible system. I ended up getting a bigger system than he recommended (what if I buy a plug in electric vehicle? What if prices increase? etc...) but that was my choice (and I am very happy with it!)Jim mentioned his showroom in Pleasanton, which has demos of many of the products he carries. I showed up there the next Saturday. Normally, they are open on Saturdays, but this being a Saturday in June, the showroom was closed while Jim and family attended a graduation event. When I called to ask why the showroom was closed, Jim went out of his way and made a special trip to open up for an hour just for me, since I had made the trip from San Jose. This was really nice of him! I pretty much decided there and then that I would like to do business with these good folks. Their prices -especially on solar- are also very reasonable, and were cheaper than those of other installers that I had contacted.The survey of my roof and attic by Jim and Lou took place within a week and installation of the whole house fan happened in the following week. The bulk of the solar panel installation was done in one day (a brutally hot day), with a couple of follow up visits for tweaks and preparation for the permit inspection. Attic fan installation and radiant barrier were also done in a day. The installers were helpful, considerate, and cleaned up after themselves. I was happy that the installers were careful with my roof, which is metal and easily dented. They replaced tiles under the panels so that they could use a mounting system that was less likely to leak, and the work looked very clean and orderly to me.So - all in all- a most excellent experience! Do I have *any* beefs? OK, a nit - response to email could have been a bit better on a couple of occasions, but it didn't cause any problems. Overall, I am thrilled with the result of the work. My house is cool, I sleep with fresh air wafting through the bedroom, and the electric meter spins backwards most of the day! Hooray!

Your Energy Solutions was referred to me by Grape Solar which is Solar Panel Manufacturer. They were a certified and recommended installer by Grape. I contacted Jim and he took my call right away and had provided me several proposals within a budget range and based on my power consumption the very next day. Most of the other installers I talked too were a far cry from being responsive, either they had a front end person talking to you who didn't know anything or the designer would be taking more than a week to get back to you. Jim and his partner Lou were very professional and always listening and answering my questions and concerns. They were very knowledgeable with the entire solar industry and have been very helpful in providing information on the pros and cons of different system configurations. At any point of time, there was no sales pressure and they did not try to steer you towards any product. Their goal is to build the system of your choice and requirements. Jim had provided a list of reference customers who had installed systems in the last 6 months. I had contacted 5 of them and everyone of them were very passionate about the service they received and recommended them highly. I had also checked out the California State Contractor License board and they cleared him as a reputable contractor to work with. The installation crew was very experienced and efficient, the entire install was done in 3 days. The only remaining work items which is out of their control to schedule are the City inspection and PGE configuration. I would highly recommend Your Energy Solutions as a Solar Installer and their pricing of the systems they provide are very competitive.
