Response from Same Day Mold Testing Inc
No one is misled about the turnaround time for lab results. If anything, the customer mis-read (or didn't read) the website or contract regarding the lab results turnaround time commitment: turnaround time for lab results begins when the lab receives the samples. Verbal notification of lab results satisfies commitment followed by subsequent written report. The lab received the samples at 5:05pm Friday, which makes the commitment time 5:05pm Monday. The member was notified at 1:39pm on Monday, which is within the 24 hour turnaround time as defined on our website, in our contract and with the laboratory. Our website clearly states that weekends do not count towards turnaround time. Sometimes the lab does produce results on the weekend, but there is no guarantee. Our inspector can explain this, but the customer may have held him to the next day lab result based on a possibility not a promise. Notice the word “should” in the member quote. There are times when lab results come early. But we do not control the lab’s workflow so we can only guarantee the commitment we can control. The inspection report – which is separate from lab results – can take several days to produce depending on the turnaround time for lab results and the volume of work being done in the field. An inspector writes the report back at the office. We cannot write reports from the field. Our contract states it could take as many as 10 days to actually receive a written report. This member received the report Tuesday morning at 10:08am, less than 24 hours after verbal notification. With regard to sampling prices, practically every company charges a different price for sampling. Many variables factor into the price including the laboratory rates being charged the inspection company and the cost of doing business. Every inspection company has similar expenses but may have varying degrees of the same expense. Most companies factor the cost of doing business into the price of their samples. Without knowing much about the other inspector that was hired, it would be speculation to know why the price was what it was. Each inspector/company has the right and discretion to charge what they want to charge for their samples. Most inspection companies make up prices as they go depending on how much they think the customer can pay. Very few companies publish their sampling fees. Same Day Mold Testing, Inc. publishes our prices so there should be no surprise when sampling charges are applicable. We are fully insured and hold current credentials with nationally recognized accrediting organizations. All of that factors into our pricing. Angie’s List service providers also pay a hefty advertising budget to be available to largest amount of members. The inspector who did the retesting did not have that expense to consider when pricing samples. Anybody can drop samples to an accredited laboratory, but that doesn’t mean s/he is a credentialed, qualified microbial investigator. It would be interesting to know if this member verified the credentials of the inspector that did the retesting. We encourage this member to review the other inspector on Angie’s List so he will have an opportunity to be hired and scrutinized by other members. We encourage other members to verify the credentials of the company you are hiring. It is our position this member received the services he paid for in a timely manner consistent with all published information about our pricing policy, including the website and signed contract. It is also noteworthy that our representative was punctual, professional and thorough. We thank the member for providing the report because it provided an opportunity to clarify a topic with a lot of nuance relative to commitment times for our deliverables. We encourage all prospective customers to visit our website to seek clarification about our pricing and services. A call will also accomplish the clarification. But seek the clarification before you write a review so you can speak factually about the specifics of your experience. Respectfully, Same Day Mold Testing, Inc.
