 + -1 morePrior to the Technician coming out, I was not informed that the repair estimate is not free, nor that it is not applied to the final cost of the repair. When I stated my discomfort with this to their office staff I was informed that they always inform the customer of this prior to the "service" call. No, they don't. If they had, I NEVER WOULD HAVE AGREED TO IT!!! It was entirely based upon this business practice that I chose to have another company replace my air conditioning unit. The company I chose to use informed me, up front, the amount of their estimate fee is (alot less than $119.00!), and that it would be applied to the eventual repair. Their estimate was also less than Air Tech's, though only by a couple of hundred dollars. I will say, however, that the estimates did match, so Air Tech appears to be honest. At least in this instance; just not up front about their fees.

 + 0 moreI've owed Air-Tech this review for quite some time since the work was actually done 6 months ago. That said ... Rod Rodriguez was the estimator and was very courteous and professional during all of our contacts. The chief installer, Francisco as well as each member of the crew, was also courteous, knowledgeable and professional. It took them the better part of a week to get the job done and I'm happy with the end product. The house is old, but with this system with don't have the large variations in temperature that we used to have. I have only 1 criticism as to the quality and that regards the PVC drain pipe which was inserted down through the wall from the attic to the crawl space ... The L-connector from attic to wall had not been glued. Had I not disturbed it during drywall installation to cover the space they used to guide the drain, wiring, and condenser line, then any condensation might have gone into the wall and lead to a major problem. I glued the connection. I gave them a B for responsiveness because they did not seem eager/motivated to get the final inspection done and that took persistence and almost a month after the initial work to get completed. My only other comment is that you need to ask lots of questions and be clear on each aspect of the install. I had expected that they would complete the concrete pad for the condenser and they had expected that I would. On the first day of the install it became clear of the miscommunication and I ended up having to pour the pad. (I extended a pad previously used for a water heater.)
Description of Work: 1) Removed existing gravity heating unit and duct work 2) Installed Lennox 3 ton 70,000 BTU heating unit in attic 3) Installed Lennox XC17-036 17 SEER condenser 4) Installed new duct work in attic with ceiling registers. 5) Installed iComfort thermostat that can be accessed with a smartphone app 6) Installed Pure Air-Purification system (hepa filter & UV sterilizers)

 + 0 moreI am extremely satisfied with professionalism of Air Tech. I have two 4 ton systems that were installed when the house was built over 20 years ago. After receiving $600 to $800 electric bills in the summer, I decided it was time to upgrade the systems. Air Tech install 2 Lenox 4 ton systems and we have never been happier. The sales man Rod explained how inefficient the original installation was and that we needed to relocate the second unit closer to the other side of the house. This would cut down on the duct runs and improve the efficiency in the Master Bedroom. (This was very important to ME) After they completed the installation, I now fully understand what he was talking about. Why didn?t the home builder install it correctly in the first place??? All of Air Tech?s installers were nice and very courteous. They laid out drop cloths each morning and cleaned up everything each night. They were in and out in one week, right on schedule with what Rod promised. The house now maintains temperature which it never did before. I have now received my first electric bill and even though it is winter time, it was the lowest bill for the entire 2014 year. I am very excited to see how these units perform this summer. I would highly recommend Air Tech.

 + -1 moreHe arrived on time, looked at the whole AC system and quickly found the problem. He told us he could repair it immediately using a more expensive capacitor that he had on hand, or we could wait for him to go get a capacitor that was more appropriate for our system (and much cheaper). He clearly explained the costs involved in both scenarios (travel, labour) and didn't pressure us either way. When he finished, he checked the system to make sure it was working and advised us on recommended maintenance. Guillermo Solano's honesty and work ethic were as refreshing as the cool air that is now blowing out of our air conditioner!
Description of Work: Our AC fan was running but not blowing cold air. They checked out our unit on the roof and determined that we needed a new capacitor.

 + -1 moreWe met with two different techs. The first tech arrived promptly did the in-house assessment of the repair (Mark) and provided the quote. Mark was courteous, efficient and we looked forward to his return to do the repair. We unfortunately were not available so we missed Mark but we were rescheduled later that afternoon with a new tech. Guillermo arrived as indicated was also very courteous and very qualified. The installation & repair went very well with Guillermo explaining his assessment and short list of concerns. There was no high pressure sales to sign up for any other service but outlined only what Air Tech can provide for future reference. Our experience with both Techs was outstanding and it was quite apparent that both techs were qualified and reflected the policy of Air Tech

The other one (who's also A-rated on Angie's list) didn't even return my call. Guillermo was very courteous throughout the service call; including calling to let me know he was on his way and arriving per schedule. Diagnosed a couple of electrical problems, had the parts available, and was able to fix the system immediately. In addition to the cost of service, I bought a maintenance plan and look forward to them coming back.

 + -1 moreAfter a bad experience with another service provider replacing my compressor under warranty, I came home shortly after that to find the compressor not running - 88 degree house. I called around and Air Tech was able to schedule a technician to come out the next morning. Guillermo knew what he was doing, and trust me I grilled him. He performed a thorough inspection, identified the problem, and offered an inexpensive solution. It's been a few days now and the issue has not re-occurred. Good work, guys! I think I found my AC repair company.

 + -1 moreNot only were they available for weekend service calls but gave me a two-hour window contrasted with most contractors's four-hour window. for a Saturday AM call on two days notice and when the service-tech assigned, MARK KLOTZ, found he was running ahead of schedule, he called me and wanted to know if it was OK if he came EARLIER than the window so that he was DONE BEFORE his originally scheduled earliest arrival. Periodic tune-up service price was reasonable, particularly with he online coupon. Work was done quickly and cleaned up afterwards. Excellent all around.

 + -1 moreHVAC system was acting up, called Air-Tech based on reviews in my area. I called around 11am and was told they could have a tech here between 3-5pm. I was more than happy to here that response since I had the day off. Guillermo S.(our tech) called and said he was running late with traffic. 5pm, Fri, LA, enough said. Guillermo came to the house, introduced himself and asked what the problem was with the HVAC. I gave a brief explanation and he stopped me and said he was pretty sure he knew my problem. He preceded to check the unit over. During that time he explained what was causing the problem, and while checking found another problem. We could repair or replace the unit. He preceded to get us a quote for both options. Courteous and professional.

 + -1 moreI interviewed several HVAC companies for a complete heating and airconditioning installation in a 1930s home we just purchased. The mechanics and engineering of HVAC systemsare not intuitive to me, despite the wealth of information on the internet. I therefore went into this process with serious trepidation. Rod at Air-Tech put all my concerns at ease. I met with him at the home for a free estimate. He took the time to educate me on how these systems work, and understood my desire to know the reasons behind the different price ranges for the different systems. He also understood my concerns regarding blending the system with the aesthetics of the home without compromising quality and efficiency. We ultimately went with another company whose final estimate was only slightly lower than Air-Tech?s estimate. But Air-Tech?s competitive bid coupled with their excellent customer service made it very difficult to make a final decision. Air-Tech seems to be a real family business, and all of our discussions with Rod were low-pressure and informative; I never once felt like he was making a sales pitch. Though we did not go with this company, I really appreciated their investment in potential customers, not just existing customers. I highly recommend speaking with Air-Tech for your HVAC needs.

 + -1 moreI have no complaints with the service. Overall, the service was good. The workers were professional. They were very punctual and even arrived early. They cleaned up their mess each day and left the job site clean. I would certainty recommend them and continue to use their service. There were some short cuts taken at the end of the work but it was immediately rectified by the owner. He attended to the work immediately and he was responsive throughout the entire process. The price was very competitive compared to other estimates I received.

Rod discovered a faulty part to our filter which also needed to be replaced. On back order but Guillermo was able to get existing part to work in the interim. My only issue was a time change to one of the appointments that I was not notified of. Learned when I called to confirm day & time.

He discussed both Mitsubishi and Fujitsu systems in detail, explained how the systems work and where best to place the inside units for maximum efficiency and air flow. He discussed in detail the work to be done, how many days of work to complete the project and the length of each work day. Mr. Rodriguez visited the work site every day. His work estimate was detailed and specific. The AIR TECH technicians were very professional and knew their jobs. They wore boot covers in the house and cleaned up very very well every evening. It is evident that the AIR TECH technicians are happy working for AIR TECH and have been with the company for many years. This company retains it's employees, that says a lot for me. My whole experience with AIR TECH was excellent. It was evident to me that Mr. Rodriquez has vast experience with these split air systems through his many hours of ongoing education in these systems and their continual upgrades, as well as, his many years of experience in installation of these systems in residences and large businesses. Rod Rodriguez also answered questions I had on my electrical panel. Everything AIR TECH does is to standards, permits and is professional. I highly recommend AIR TECH of Pasadena! I did not chose Connor Air because of their suggested placement of the wall units. That being said, I felt Connor Air was very professional and gave me a lot of their time in letting me see and hear units they had installed in church classrooms. I think AIR TECH just has more experience with these split air systems then Connor. Connor's estimate was also $12,000 and I think they are reputable and professional. I was not impressed with Precise AIR. Their representative gave me only a verbal estimate that was 25% higher then AIR TECH or Connor. Precise Air's estimate was $16,000.
Description of Work: Air Tech Air Conditioning and Heating of Pasadena CA. installed a Mitsubishi Split Air System in my 1946 home. My experience with Air Tech was one of the best and most professional experiences I have had with any business or contractor. My 1946 home had no central HVAC, only a wall heater. My home has a very small attic space that would not accommodate the ducting needed for a central HVAC. The best option for heating and air in my home was the Split Air Systems that are very efficient and zoned to each room. Mitsubishi and Fujitsu make theses systems. To get the system warranty you need an authorized installer. I went for the Mitsubishi Spit Air System that has four zones: two bedrooms, one living room and one TV room. The inside wall units are very quiet and efficient. The outside compressor is small, about the size of a large suitcase and is also very very quiet. These systems are initially expensive, but have very good energy efficiency. You only use the air or heat in the room/s you wish. There are no ducts to clean. The Mitsubishi has washable filters that last ten years. I used both the authorized Mitsubishi Diamond authorized installers list and cross referenced with Angie"s List to get three Company estimates. I chose AIR TECH of Pasadena for their experience and where they placed the wall units in each room. AIR TECH was the only installer that placed the units over the closets, and not over beds/exterior facing walls as the other two companies wished to do. The bedrooms each have a south facing wall. The two companies I did not use wanted to place the units in each bedroom on the south wall which would have placed these units directly over the beds. They also wanted to put the living room unit on the south wall, which in my opinion was not the best placement for air distribution for the large living/dining room. The south wall placements were more efficient for these two companies I did not use because they could place the refrigeration pipes, electrical wires and drip lines on the south outside wall of the house and save material expense, labor expense and time. And, it was more efficient for them, not for me. These two companies would have placed three exterior rain gutter sized covers over the piping, electrical wires and drip going up the exterior south wall of the house to attach to each of the wall units in each bedroom and living room. Not so attractive even if it is on a side yard wall. AIR TECH placed the wall units over closets. AIR TECH's piping and electrical wires were in a 3 to 4" hose like covering that came up through the floor on an inside corner of each closet and this and the drip line pipe was then covered with the metal cover. The drip line for condensation goes under the house and then is angled to the outside by a 1 inch plastic pipe that goes through a crawl space vent screen. The three closets that housed the piping, electrical and drip lines for the wall units are within 3 feet of exterior walls. AIR TECH gave me better placement of the inside wall units in both air flow distribution and aesthetics. So much better that three large metal covers on the south exterior wall. All I have now are three small drip line openings on different exterior walls obscured by plants. AIR TECH's placement of the wall units takes more time and resources but is a better fit for air movement and looks. AIR TECH charged me $12,000. Connor Air's written estimate was $12,000. Precise Air Systems who did not give a written estimate was $16,000 and 25% increase over AIR TECH and Connor. For all the work done AIR TECH was also the most reasonable.

 + -1 moreAt 2pm received a call stating that technician was delayed by previous job and asked to reschedule for 3-4pm. Replied that 3pm was OK, but I was outside my rental property, waiting. At 3.30pm when he still hadn't appeared I called back. Told he was "in transit". When I requested that the secretary call technician to tell him that I had now been waiting for 2.5 hrs. and needed him to arrive ASAP,she was surly: "Your appt. was for 3-4pm ". "No", I said, it was from 1-2pm and I'm STILL waiting for him.Please call him and tell him to come very soon". She replied: "It's not part of my job!" I replied that if he didn't come soon he would lose my business. At 4.30pm she called back to say that he was still 10 mins. away!! I told her that he need not bother, as I now had another inspection in progress (the truth). To expect a potential client (who might be spending thousands of $$$ on your company) to wait in this way is a sure way to lose their business!

 + -1 moreIn the heat of last summer, our circuit breaker kept tripping every time our A/C would attempt to start up. I was hot and cranky, and the situation went from bad to worse when my previous service provider insisted that the only remedy was to replace our home's electrical panel - a solution that was not a quick fix and very costly. Needless to say, I was a little "hot under the collar" when I went on the hunt for another service provider. On the recommendation of a neighbor, I contacted Air-Tech and am THRILLED with that decision. My experience from the very beginning was fabulous. The gal who answered the phone was cheerful and compassionate and to my surprise, able to get me on the schedule that day. The technician, Guillermo, arrived promptly, was very knowledgeable and exceeded my expectations. He ran diagnostic tests, clearly stated the problem of a faulty start boost capacitor and the easy solution to my husband and me, and then performed all work in an efficient manner with superb results. Our A/C was up and running again within an hour of his arrival and I was cool as a cucumber. He even called a few hours later to make sure everything was working to our liking, which it was. As a bonus, during his assessment of our A/C system, he uncovered the reason for another problem that had been ongoing since the install of the system. A few days later, he and an assistant rerouted the drain lines so that we no longer have a dripping pipe every time the the A/C runs. Since then, we are happy and loyal customers of Air-Tech. We purchased a bi-annual maintenance agreement which takes the guess work out of keeping our unit up and running when we need it. I HIGHLY recommend Air-Tech for all your A/C needs!!
