The videos are great if you do not have time to do full tutoring, or in my case to supplement the tutoring. J’s “problem-solving procedure” as we call it, has not only helped me in math when I am trying to figure out how to solve a problem I don’t know right away, but it has also helped me in other classes such a history and science. For many, math is not seen as a fun class because they do not understand concepts, however, J pushes you to solve hard problems, and it feels very good to get to the limits of my knowledge as a mathematician, something I wouldn’t get to do in school. Overall, J is a great tutor that does not focus only on memorization. Instead, he helps me get a deep understanding of the material I am learning so I can meet the standard of scoring in the upper 90s on my tests consistently.

Initially when I sought tutoring help, like most people, I believed that it was best done locally and in-person. However, J has demonstrated that effective online tutoring is quite possible; he has thoroughly developed a style of online video chat tutoring that not only helped me achieve the scores I wanted, but also improved my fundamental approach to mathematical problem solving in just a few sessions. I highly recommend J's video lessons any one who wish to improve their child's math grades and achieve deeper concept understandings. My sister referred J to me after taking his services for her son in highschool, extremely happy about the results. J's class lessons are high quality due to which the fees is very expensive. Hence his video series are very useful to my 8th grader who listens to it couple of times a week. It provides good explanation and also at the end good notes to refer back to when needed. Videos are available as single sessions or multi-packages, I usually take multi sessions as it provides few extra lessons. Each 2 hrs video is about $20, which is very good compare to in person lesson fee which is >$100. Videos are slow paced and explained well with details. I am seeing grade improvements from B/C to consistent A+. He also teaches the importance of notes taking and how to review the work post lessons for its retention. Overall highly recommend the videos to learn math at your convenience.

J has been so much more than just a tutor. Over the past several months J has worked with our daughter on college level calculus and physics, truly becoming a mentor to her. In fact, she is now scoring consistently above the class average on her weekly College Physics tests, as a high school junior who has never taken high school physics before.
