Palo Alto Plumbing Heating and Air

A bathroom fixture in the master bath developed a serious leak, causing water to drip out of a recessed can light in the family room ceiling below. Called Palo Alto Plumbing who sent a man out within an hour or so. He surveyed the situation, reset the upstairs toilet immediately, and then returned in a week to repair and reset the bidet. He was very professional, prompt, cleanup up afterwards, and was friendly.

One of the technicians that came out for the estimate came back out to do the install. His name was (forgive me if I misspell this) Jaiar. This guy was great. He was very personable and I felt very comfortable with him working in my house. He was very knowledgeable and was very patient with all of my questions. A problem came up with the location of the thermostat. Its an old house and the original owner had the thermostat near the front door. He (and the other technician) recommended that I relocate the thermostat in the hallway so that it wouldn't be affected by the opening of the front door. Jaiar went out of his way to work with me on a solution to get the thermostat in the right place. The wall wasn't set up to fish wires for the thermostat. We had a couple of options, one took more work but was a better solution. He happily did it the right way. I really appreciate that.. that he didn't try to skimp and do the easier solution so he could get done sooner. I am really, really, happy with the new furnace. The old one was a dinosaur. They put a new plenum in and identified a problem caused by the previous owner (insulation blocking an air feed) that could cause carbon monoxide to enter the home. They took care of that as well. The new heater is better and I feel so much safer now that it is installed and I know its installed correctly. I can't say enough about my experience with Palo Alto Plumbing and Heating. I would totally use them again. I would not hesitate to recommend them to others.

The initial estimate process went well. Everything was explained clearly. The installation went smoothly, and took about as long as I expected. They tested it thoroughly before leaving. They didn't quite have time to secure the unit to the concrete pad, so came back to do that another day (which didn't require me being there). The thermostat required reprogramming in order to switch automatically between heat and cool. I called them about that 2 or 3 months after the initial install, and they immediately sent someone out to do it, and didn't charge me for it. He was very helpful in explaining the programming of the thermostat, in case I ever needed to do it on my own. It would have been nice if the original installers had known how to reprogram the thermostat, but it was a fairly unusual one, so I don't hold that against them. They were very knowledgeable about everything else involved, friendly, and professional. The air conditioning has worked great in the 4 months or so since the initial install. Overall I was very satisfied and would gladly hire P.A. Plumbing Heating and Air again.

I called them on the phone number given by Angie's list. They answered promptly and scheduled me at my convenience. They arrived on time and were extremely polite and thorough. The person who came had cleaned my furnaces last year. He did a complete survey of my crawl space and made recommendations on how to get rid of the rats who were using it.

Great job. Left area clean and tidy. Trustworthy crew and crew leader. Job cost 1/3 less than best alternate bid, and was done on time.

It was an under an hour appointment. They were accessing our broken furnace. The pilot light was kind of messed up and they proposed rebuilding the whole thing but that would have been a very expensive option. We went with another option of just fixing it enough to start working. I basically had them come out for an assessment. I think he was right in suggesting that because the best thing would have been to redo it. I think they were correct even though we didn't decide to do that. He was great and he gave us a lot of information. Whether he was going to do the work or not he taught us a lot about what to say to the next people though we had decided not to rebuild it. He was very helpful in a lot of ways.

_Excellent_ service. I called on Wednesday. They had availability on Friday morning, and provided a 9-11 AM service window. James showed up in the middle of the service window and diagnosed the problem very quickly (it was a blown capacitor). He encouraged me to watch and answered all my questions clearly and even offered some overall tips for keeping things cool and maximizing the life of the system. He explained the SmartAC unit that PGand E had installed and even showed me how the mechanical spring switch worked. Thanks James. Nice job.

I liked them but decided to go with another service provider. They were here on time. They were responsive and friendly.

Punctual (called once when the plumber was delayed) and very professional. Competent, job very well done (one of the tasks was quite complex and another plumber had declined it). Very friendly and approachable plumber (Joe). Not cheap. One of the parts (the water heater) was quite a bit more expensive than on the web, the others were OK.

Everything went OK. They arrived late to the job. They never called to let me know. They said they would be out the next day but didn't show. They told me that I needed to have some hazardous material cleaned up which was just standing water. I would not recommend them or use them again.

Palo Alto Plumbing said Joe would arrive between 11 and 1pm. He arrived at 11am I was not there. He left a message and was kind enough to return within 30 minutes. Shoe boots on a real professional in all respects.

Work was done promptly and carefully. Technicians discussed alternatives clearly with me. The work was done exactly when promised. I plan to have this company back to replace a 2nd floor furnace as the work's been well done, and their team is a pleasure to work with.

They were prompt in responding to our request for a quote, very professional in how they came and assessed what needed to be done. The guys who came to install the units worked very hard, in fact staying quite late on a Saturday afternoon/evening to finish the job.

We weren’t even here when they did it because it involved going under the house and things. It hasn’t fallen apart so they must have done a good job. I have no point of reference for the price.

If you call any one else you are stupid , I don't known these people, but they are the best. Not only plumbing but Heating and A/C. Not only good with price, but service. I saved over $1,000 relative to quick plumbing, and saved $300 relative to HVAC

They were very professional. Their prices are very competitive. We have since moved out of their service area, but wish we had someone as good in our current area. You never have to wait long for their service.

Didn't even get off the ground! they called after I put request in from angie's list. I talked to them on the phone and they agreed to review the bid package I assembled. I then got an email indicating they declined to bid the project! No reason. Must be more interested in finding less informed, less prepared owners...

I had a healthy home inspector tell me that we had at least one gas leak in our house, so I called Palo Alto Plumbing Heating and Air. They were very responsive when I called -- asked if it was an emergency (no, it wasn't) and asked me to turn off the gas and offered to walk me through how to do this over the phone. Max, the owner, came the next day. I showed him where the suspected leaks were, and he replaced two short gas lines -- one to the hot water heater and one to the central house heating system. He turned off all the lines to individual appliances, ran a few tests to verify that the leak had been fixed and we were good to go. While he was here, I asked him to check our two dripping faucets. He told me that he had a person, Joe, at the shop who had a truck with the appropriate parts to fix plumbing problems and so we had Joe come back in a few days. He replaced an old faucet (circa 1927) that clearly needed replacing and also told me that our second dripping sink would need new stems. He ordered the stems and came back in a week to fix that sink. Work was done quickly, both Joe and Max were informative and friendly.

The guy assigned to this call called before end of the two hour window appt to say he will twenty minutes late which was accurate. The work was not trival but was completed in less than 30 minutes and was very professional. The guy was very pleasant and helpful.

They showed up on time, recommended the best parts to use and did the install on the spot. It's all working great.

I like the fact that they consulted an arborist before they put the pipe down by the trees, to see where the woods went. I thought they were very thorough and professional. They did accidentally break a sprinkler; they came out immediately and fixed it.

They had to get in the crawlspace, it took two guys, and it took them about four hours; it was tricky. They had to get the pipe in behind the drywall and they had to get all the pipes right. The quality of their work was very good and there was one connection that we didn’t think would fit behind the drywall but we did the drywall over it. There was a cordless electric drill that was sitting in the garage that disappeared when they left. We don’t have any evidence that they took it but it is a big coincidence that the drill disappeared when they left. We called the company three times in case it was a mistake and they grabbed the wrong tool but they never found it. We got some other bids and they didn’t have the best price but it was reasonable. I would hire them again but I would ask for a different crew.

They are very prompt and very good. It was a little bit expensive.
