Arrived promptly. Acted professionally. However, they brought the wrong size filters and had to come back two more times to get it right. That was moderately inconvenient, but they were apologetic.

Repairman Raul was very good, spent 45 minutes on the job . Paid $89.95 for the service call plus $60 for labor to install a new ice maker. Seems high. Got a $10 Senior discount, but no Angie'sList discount.

They came on time and were able to immediately identify the source of the leaks in the dishwasher. They had all of the parts on hand, repaired the dishwasher and then secured it back into the cabinet. Several months later, the dishwasher is working beautifully. Thank you!

Outstanding, efficient, helpful advice about other appliances (that needed no repair, but he let us know what to look out for). I was very plleasantly suprised. Sears gave us the run-around for three weeks. Lake Appliance was here in (literally) 3 days, changed the gas-jet, got it done in less than hour, and gave advice about the dishwasher we have to boot. Very happy with the service - will go to them for everything from now on.
Description of Work: This was about a Kenmore drier that we moved down from high altitude propane country to "the flats" (urban, natural gas). Driers have different gas-jets between the two sources. Serviceman came out, changed the jet & was gone before we knew it.

The freezer kept losing its vacuum seal, and the temperature would rise to as high as 12 degrees. The technician checked everything, and finally noticed the condensor fan was barely moving. His diagnosis was replacement of the mother board. I paid the $70 service fee, and indicated that I needed to think about the additional $314 needed to complete the repair. A few weeks later I called the office and spoke with someone who put me on hold. After a few minutes, a recording came on stating the person I was calling was not available and to leave a message, which I did. I waited for 1 week for a call back, and finally called again. The technician came back out within a few days, installed the mother board in less than 15 minutes, and I was charged $120 for labor.
Description of Work: Replacement of the mother board.

This was not a particularly good experience. In any event, nothing was fixed. a few months later the refrigerator started making noise. This i surmised was due to ice buildup. In any every, i had to call another company, who immediately determined the problem and fixed it. it needed a new thermostat! it works great now.
Description of Work: Sergio came to tthe house to determine why the freezer was making everything rock hard and why the temperature in the refrigerator was so cold. He put his handy temperature probe into both compartments, looked at the thermostat and said everything was fine. I paid him $70. He said the thermostat was fine, but how he know that i would not know.

I was very satisfied with service Sirgio provided.
Description of Work: Service Technician for Lake, Sirgio, took components out of dishwasher to determine why water remained in bottom and determined it was clog and ALSO due to pump motor gone bad. Sirgio tried to clear clog and see if it would help motor, but it did not. We elected not to replace, and were charged their $70 initial service fee only. Sirgio put everything back where it belonged and was very helpful in comparing replacement vs. fixing prices, versus life cycle of dishwasher.

The first time I called to request service, I understood that the service appointment would take place the following day. When no one showed up, I called the company and they had no record of the appointment. So we made another appointment, and that appointment was kept. The service provider was prompt, courteous, and skilled. The service provider told me that the manufacturer would cover the entire cost of the repair even though the refrigerator was not under warranty. I would only have to pay the $65 trip fee. The work was completed and the ice maker works fine again. I am very satisfied with this portion of the transaction. Several days later, I got a call saying the manufacturer wouldn't pay for one of the parts. I was asked to pay an extra $51.72 which I promptly remitted. I was told to contact the manufacturer and ask them to reimburse me for the cost of this part. I would have expected a company in this situation, to go the extra mile and provide their customer with the manufacturer's contact number and some reference or order number to identify me as someone with a legitimate claim for reimbursement. As it is, I am expected to call up a large corporation and say that the appliance repair company told me to ask for them for money. In my experience, this approach doesn't work. They did a great job on the repair, but their customer service, both on the front end in making the appointment, and after the work was completed, fell short.
Description of Work: Repaired the ice maker on my 2 year old Electrolux refrigerator. It took 2 appointments-- the first to diagnose the exact cause of the problem and order the parts. The second to perform the actual repair which was complex.

When our dishwasher died on us, my husband went to a store he had been to before that had been helpful, to talk to them and see if there was a reset button on the machine to try. Meanwhile, I checked Angies List and BBB and found Folsom Lake Appliance. When my husband came home and told me he had a repair person coming, I asked what the name of the company was... it was Folsom Lake Appliance. Scott and Tim were great. They went out of their way to come quickly, even though it wasn't an emergency. They did a thorough diagnostic on the machine and came to the conclusion that a faulty outlet was the probable cause of the high voltage circuit board being fried. They gave us a very reasonable estimate of cost to fix it, and noted honestly that the part plus labor would end up being almost half the cost of getting a new machine. We asked them for recommendations for new dishwashers, and they gave their opinions from a repair point of view. Their $65 service call charge was lower than others, and was well worth finding out about the faulty outlet under our sink. We are now buying a new dishwasher, but have Folsom Lake Appliance's phone number saved for any future needs... and for referrals to our friends and neighbors. Not only in this instance, but in the other times my husband has been to their store, this company consistently presents itself as friendly, honest, dependable professionals. Thank you, Folsom Lake.
Description of Work: our dishwasher stopped working. Folsom Lake repairmen came and did diagnostics on it in our home. They told us exactly what was wrong with it and gave a detailed estimate on how much to fix it.

Prompt response, for which we're most grateful. I called at 10:00 A.M., their service techinician arrived at 2:30 p.m. (we are in North Auburn, out in the and quot;boonies.and quot;) He immediately and accurately diagnosed the problem as being a computer board (these new-fangled appliances!), which he had on his truck, replaced in ten minutes, the compressor fired right up, and the temperature has been steadily going down since. Great service, professional in every way.

Overall it went quite well (see above).
Description of Work: Lake Appliance repaired our refrigerator which was not cooling properly. The technician, Tom Fruda was punctual, professional and knowledgeable. He diagnosed the problem, a frozen compressor due to excessive moisture on the coils preventing the fan from sending adequate cold air to the refrigerator side. He quickly opened the compressor housing in the back of the freezer, defrosted the coils and fan housing and returned the refrigerator back to normal. He also checked the operation of the refrigerator to assure its return to service and explained in detail how the problem developed. After completing his work, he took note of our other major appliances and suggested how to make our use of the dishwasher more efficient. His pleasant and professional manner is an asset to his company.

Folsom Lake Appliances showed up on time. The guys Scott and Chewbacca did an awsum job. After the installation, Scott tested the oven, however forgot to remove the low density Poly Ethelene foam packing material sandwichwed between the sliding oven racks as shipping protection. The foam was white low density polyethylene. It transformed into a crispy hardened 6 inch by 6 inch dark brown puddle on the bottom oven tray. Smoke bellowing out of the oven after the door was opened filling the house. We were breathing bypass fumes as the Thermador 1200 CFM fan kept up with the steady stream of toxic fumes pooring out the oven. PE is a thermo foam, heat will soften it, melting should not release noxious fumes however burning the PE will, and did. Scott apologized, said all I have to do is wipe it out with a damp rag once the oven cools down. I asked him to show me how easy that is. He worked on scraping it out for almost twenty minutes. At that point in the clean-up he said he would need to order a replacement oven tray if he couldn't get it removed. Now my wife and I have a major headaches and are feel light headed and sick. We had to go outside and get some air. I then texted a Material Scientist friend at HP, asking how to get it up because obviously it wasn't coming off. He said, when PE approaches the moulton state most of it maybe whiped up with something that may be absorbant . Once it cools you can't get it off without damaging the enamel from abrasive cleaners or metal tools. Plastic or wood spatulas just wont penetrate the bond. Try a heat gun to soften it, you may be able to scrape it a bit with something wood when soft. Soften or melt slowly, and lsquo;Do not boil or burn the material' doing so will release noxious fumes. The melting point for average, commercial, low-density polyethylene is typically 105 to 115 and deg;C (221 to 239 and deg;F). Scott once again ramped up the oven, trying to balance at a Temp, 230 Deg F, attempting to bond the molten PE to our Terrie cloth dish rag. Finally it cleaned off the bottom tray. We shook hands and I thanked Scott for the install. I sort of wish that didn't happen otherwise they would have received an "A" for overall experience.
Description of Work: Install a 36" Thermadore Pro Series Gas range. Tear down from pallett, assemble, prep site, sink earth quake foot, snake gas line behing the wall to the base of the Range, navigate thephysical placement and do a final level to Granite.

I had a refrigerator cooling issue. The technician was dispatched the next day. He called as he was leaving the appointment before mine (which is always a professional touch). Upon arriving he went right to work and quickly identified a defective sensor in the defrost system. The replacement part was put on order and they sent me a link via email that allowed me to track the progress of the part. Two days later the part was in and they called to set an appointment for installation of the the new component. Again a timely call when the technician was on his way. He quickly replacement the parts and was out the door in about an hour. About a week later I noticed the refrigerator acting like it did before. I called the company and they set an appointment for the next day. A couple of hours before the appointment the technician called to let me know he was running a little long and would be about 30 mins late. I really appreciate this kind of update so I can rearrange my schedule accordingly. He showed up as predicted and went to work. He quickly diagnosed the failed component as the one he'd replaced last time, (I know it was a new part because I watched him take it out of the box). This time he had the part in the truck and quickly replaced it for the second time. He was nonplus that a new part was defective out of the box but that's life in the maintenance business. He was out the door in about an hour and everything seems fine so far. There was no charge (or grumbling) about the experience at all and I'm confident that If there's any further problem I'll get prompt and proffesional service. I highly recommend Folsom Lake Appliance.
Description of Work: Service required was to troubleshoot and repair a defective refrigerator. Diagnostics were performed quickly and parts were removed and replaced. Technician seemed confident and competent in this regard.

Lowes warranty service assigned this company to service my new dryer. The timeframe I was assigned originally was not kept. I was notified the night before that they would be coming in the afternoon instead of the morning appt I had chosen. The technician refused to diagnose the problem with my dryer until I found my receipt for the purchase (proving it was under warranty). It took me a few minutes to find it, so the technican left while I was looking. I found it 5 minutes after he left and I immediately called the company to ask the technician to come back. They said the soonest he could come back was 2 days later. I called Lowes and asked them to send another company. Unfortunately, I still had to wait 2 days. When I offered to show the new technician my receipt, he said he didn't need it because the manufacture date of my dryer was less than a year ago and there was no need to verify I had purchased it within the past year.
Description of Work: The tech was scheduled to service my Samsung dryer, which was less than a year old. The tech came to my home, but the technician refused to diagnose the dryer issues.

He had to come back 4 times. The first time to assess the problem. The second time he returned with the part and installed it, but it didn't fix the problem. He ordered another part and came back again and installed it. The panel was all scratched, but it worked, so he ordered a new panel and had to come back again. In the process of removing and replacing these parts he put a few scratches on my stove, but he painted them. Hopefully, I won't have anymore problems. Before they come out with a replacement part, they should check that it is in excellent condition!!!

Paul at Folsom Lake Appliance is obviously a very seasoned and professional technician at F.L.A. I had my most positive experience yet with this company, that I have used a few times in the past. Everyone has been top notch, from the office and the field - Paul, Scott, Joe, the office ladies and Bob. Paul gave us his honest opinion about things to try to save us money and how to watch out for things in the future - in addition to not only fixing our appliances, but going above and beyond that by replacing out of date glass in the oven doors (free of charge to match the one broken by accident - he didn't even have to fix something else he found out with the door after he had perfectly fixed the problem we called about)! Now that is stellar customer service! I would highly recommend them to anyone in the the area. onal
Description of Work: Fixed oven door that wasn't closing properly after multiple attempts to fix it. Paul installed a fairly new Kitchen Aid part called a melting kit - they probably realized this would fix the problem on their oven doors. While Paul was fixing the above & finished it perfectly - he noticed that our handle (which we didn't even call him about) was also loose - while attempting to fix that, he unfortunately broke the oven door glass. He promptly replaced this at no charge, after the special order came in. Then, we noticed it was different from the glass on the 2nd matching oven & because they sit on top of each other, it looked odd. So again, at no charge to us, Folsom Lake Appliance and Paul, replaced that one too! It was absolutely top notch customer service and satisfaction! Paul fixed our wine cooler perfectly & gave us his honest opinion about whether or not the cost investment to do so was worth it, so we ended up doing it. Paul also gave us honest feedback about our Thermador rangetop & convinced me that given overall circumstances, it probably wasn't going to be worth doing a full fix of trial and errors for that appliance that I am not crazy about to begin with. Great customer service (professional and friendly) & honest and reliable advice!
