I responded to an email from Lake Appliance about a summer refrigerator maintenance special and decided to take advantage of their offer. Even though my refrigerator is not experiencing any problems it has been 8 years since purchase and without any kind of maintenance. The technician was on time, polite, friendly and knowledgable and had previously been to my home for a dishwasher repair. He performed the designated servicing for my refrigerator and cleaned the floor underneath. I am very happy and satisfied with Lake Appliance Repair and will rely on their expertise again should I need it.

Tom recommended that we look into purchasing a replacement as the cost of repair was going to be more than half of a new retail priced refrigerator. Suggested to look for refrigerators on clearance as those would be less than the cost of the repair for our dead one. The main compressor has stopped working. Tom provided several options and recommendations for locating a new replacement. Tom has no connection or payback on anything he recommended as far as the purchase of a new replacement. He also told me which brand of appliance has the fewest service calls. Tom was very professional, friendly, and straight to the point for the service call. He did not waste any time determining the problem and providing his recommendations. I will contact Lake Appliance Repair first for any future service needs for all my appliances.

There was a rattling noise inside the freezer when the motor would go on. After removing the back panel and parts from the freezer he found that the fan was too high on the motor shaft and was hitting against it. He just had to adjust the fan. I can't really comment on price because my refrigerator is still under the extended warranty, so no cost. But the technician was here when expected, was courteous and did a good job.

They brought out the wrong part and wrong color and said it was my fault. I was referred to this company by the JennAire help line. They told me to order the correct part I would need to pay for it up front. I always deal with Zajic Appliance and they've never pulled this on me. They took my check for $247. And said the part would arrive in a couple of days. After the man left, I received a call that it would be at least 3 weeks for the part. It was obvious they knew the original part was wrong, it was just something sitting around their warehouse, and they just wanted money up front. I felt, even though I live in an upscale area, that I was some kind of crook. It was a rotten way to treat an opportunity for more business.

I appreciate the feedback [member name removed]. Your opinion matters to us. We work in over 100 upscale homes every day and we have the same policy for everyone; we collect a deposit on any special non-stocked part orders. We had an appointment scheduled and thought it would be worth a shot to bring a part from our warehouse in case it was the part needed for your repair. This part was brand new but just didn't happen to be the one for your appliance so we needed to special order your part. We are a small business and are certainly not getting rich by working on appliances. We're sorry you felt you we ripped you off. It's not how we do business. We all care very much about our job and taking care of our customers.

In the end, it went very well, but I did have to call their main office regarding a cost dispute. The dispute was resolved quickly and, I feel, fairly for both sides. I made the appointment after reviewing the good ratings for the company here on Angie's list. When I spoke to the scheduler I gave the make, model number and serial number for my fridge, as well as my assessment that the ice maker probably needed replacement. I was hoping to be sure the correct parts would be on the truck for my appointment. The appointment was set for 01/06/15, but I was notified on 01/05/15, that the repairman had a cancellation and could be there that day. Great! Except there had been a transposition in the model number I gave them and when he arrived the part was not on the truck. I agreed with the cost estimate and provided a 50% deposit. The repair appointment was reset for the next day. In agreeing with the cost, I had assumed the repair would be time-intensive and messy, requiring water fittings and electrical connections being disconnected.... wow, was I wrong. The repairman returned the next day with the replacement ice maker and, by removing two screws, took out the old ice maker and plugged in the new one. He was literally at my house for a total of 17 minutes start to finish... and it took that long only because he accidentally dropped one of the screws and had to fish it out of the freezer area. I paid the remainder of the bill I had agreed to pay, but I was not happy about the $165 labor cost for the short amount of time it took to replace. I wasn't sure if the amount was so high because of the two visits necessary to complete the job, but that was not my fault. I contacted the office and eventually spoke to a manager, Scott McConnell. After listening patiently to my story, Scott was very in tune with my concerns. We quickly arrived at a fair agreement for the labor cost and Scott promised to mail me a check for the settlement. The check arrived today and I'm a pleased & happy customer.

Tom was courteous, professional, and fast. He went above and beyond the call of duty by giving me estimates for new dishwashers and looking into installation costs. He was extremely professional . . . and even made small talk with my 5 year old and 3 year old children.

Since writing this review, the owner called to apologize and refunded my money. GE Appliance Repair has since repaired my microwave.
Description of Work: I selected this company because of their high rating on Angie's List. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend them to others. After $90, two visits and hours of my time wasted, they were unable to repair my microwave and instead blamed my home electrical system as the problem. An electrician has confirmed that my microwave is the problem. Now, I'm out $90 still with a broken microwave.

The company called soon after I reported the problem to the store where I had purchased the dishwasher and the warranty. The person who called was professional and friendly, and was able to give me a 4-hour window for the next day. The technician called when he was on his way and arrived within the window. When he saw the problem - the top rack fell off the rails as soon as he pulled it out - he knew exactly what was wrong and within 20 minutes had everything fixed. He also let me know that the dishwasher pods I had been using were leaving too much soap and that I just need 1/4 tsp. of powder detergent. I've tried that (though I don't measure 1/4 tsp. exactly) and my dishes are still getting clean. The great thing here is that I will be using far less soap than I was, thus saving money - always a good thing!
Description of Work: The technician replaced the wheel pieces on the top rack of our dishwasher. This was warranty work, so there was no charge to us.

Initially the technician and quot;Tomand quot; came out and assessed the problem and thought that the dryer hose was too kinked and straightened it out and it also indicated that if that did not solve the problem then the heater needed to be replaced. The dryer ran fine for one cycle after straightening the hose but then it continued to malfunction as originally reported. I called the company and they ordered the part and it was installed within two days. The service provided was courteous, professional and timely. I would highly recommend this company to all my friends.

Apparently my phone # was off by 1 digit, so Roy was unable to call me to say he was on his way. He arrived, knocked on the door, and for unknown reasons I did not hear it. Rather than just leave, he was able to obtain my correct number, and called to tell me he was outside my door. So happy that he did not give up and rescheduling was not required. It was determined within 20 minutes that the brake was not working, and because it was part of the transmission, the transmission would have to be replaced to correct the leak, which we both agreed was not cost effective (even though the washer was just barely 6 yrs old.) He offered suggestions on make and models of new and used washers based on reliability. Roy was very professional and I really appreciated his input and suggestions. I am very happy with this company and their employees. I have now used their services twice in 2 weeks to install a new stove and now the washer. While the end result was not what I wanted ( could not be fixed economically) I feel they are down to earth, professional and honest.

They returned my call quickly and we set up an appt the very next day. At first, I thought the price was a tad high, but after the project was completed, I changed my mind and was very satisfied. Jason was very professional, knew what he was doing and was prepared to get it done. While both the old and new stoves were and quot;slide insand quot; , the old one was installed more like a drop in, which sat 2-3and quot; off the floor, to accommodate the granite counter, so Jason had to lift the stove out, and then do the same with the new stove. He also checked all areas of the stove to make sure they worked, set the clock, etc. I was very pleased with the outcome. He even cleaned his fingerprints off the appliance. He made it look easy! I would highly recommend them. Felt they were very fair, honest, knowledgeable and reliable. I know who I need to call for any appliance repair or installation. And I will certainly ask for Jason again.

Hand-washing dishes is no fun, but when the dishwasher failed to start Easter Sunday that was the situation. I booked an appointment online with Lake Appliance Repair for the next morning; Tom C. arrived promptly and on-time Monday morning, found the problem, gave me an estimate, and ordered the part. After only a couple of days the part arrived and Tom C. returned to install the new control board, tested the dishwasher and I am very happy again. Thanks to a very professional, courteous and prompt technician and business.
Description of Work: Diagnosed the dishwasher malfunction as a broken control board; gave me an estimate (less $$ than a new dishwasher I had been expecting to have to purchase), ordered the part, and promptly installed it when it arrived.

Really well! When our new oven (14 months, so out of warranty) suddenly wouldn't ignite, I stopped by Pacific Sales where we bought it and asked for a good local repair service recommendation. It was a Sunday, so I left a message at Lake Appliance and Liz called me at 8;15 Monday morning. She was unable to schedule the repair for that day, but got us in on Tuesday afternoon. Jason called 20 minutes in advance of his arrival, as promised, and he arrived at 2:30. He was very pleasant and informative. After taking the oven apart to determine the problem, he found the igniter was dirty and offered to clean it and retest the oven, which he did, efficiently.

Called them on 7/15/2013 to come out and look at our washer. They were booked up that day so said that they could come out the next day in the afternoon. They were up front with letting me know how much the service call would be. The technician called around noon and said he was in Roseville and would be out shortly. Paul arrived and I told him the problem and he inspected it and then came and gave me the estimate to repair it as he had the part with him. As it needed to get repaired I told him to go ahead. Paul completed the repair promptly and I was more than pleased with his professionalism. From start to finish everyone was polite from office staff to the technician.

I rarely write reviews, but honestly this experience has been terrible from the beginning. We used them when we moved into our new house as they were on our home buyers protection warranty. The icing in our fridge was a problem. A service man came out and determined the icing was a result of a power outage before we moved in, even though there was no documentation of this. He defrosted and left. Within 3 months we are back to icing issue. They return again and determine a part must be replaced. The part is ordered, but on backorder for about 4-6 weeks, meanwhile my freezer was nearly frozen shut and setting off alarm beepers in the middle of the night. The part finally arrives over Christmas and we schedule them to come out. But only then do they realize they ordered the wrong part because the service person didn't thoroughly note what model of freezer we had. Go back to reorder the part and it is another 3 weeks. So we have now waited for part for 2 months, having to empty and defrost a freezer overnight multiple times. The part arrives and slowly but surely the ice comes back over the next 3 months-4 months. I was putting off calling them as I just couldn't deal with the fridge again and contemplated replacing our viking fridge. I finally call them and they note that our last service was 4 months ago, outside of the 90 day warranty time and that they are unsure if they can do a complimentary visit. They said it would take a week to determine this, but not to be upset because the earliest they could come out was 1-2 weeks from now. I am done with them, I'd rather pay double and go to someone else. This is the worst experience I have ever had with a repair service.

They had the correct filter holder in 3 days. Sergio came back to finish the project and knew the fastest way to do the replacement install. This built in refrigerator (Kitchenaid) had tight tolerances to remove and put in the new one. Our tech did a quick install and made certain that all was in order before the water was turned back on. Tip: make sure the main water supply is off and the water pressure is off to prevent water spill on the floor which in our case is expensive hardwood. All in all I was quite pleased with the professionalism of Joe who took my call. His follow-up on this issue was friendly and effective. Also, he answered questions concerning my Maytag washer/dryer unit to my satisfaction.

I called to have someone come out to fix an old fridge that was keeping things cold any longer. We scheduled an appointment for a few days out for 1pm-4pm... On the day of service they called around 10:30am saying they were running ahead of schedule and asking if they could come early. I thought that was great! They showed up and quickly got to work. After looking at the fridge for a short bit he told me a relay had gone out and needed to be replaced. He was up front and clear about the work and the price... I was pretty shocked that a relay would cost $98 and labor was $78 for what took about 30 minutes of work... I know relays only cost a few bucks. Considering I was already being charged $90 for them simply coming out it seemed like robbery. I was pressed to get the fridge fixed for a pending party, and thus had to pay it. The added $78 for labor just didn't seem right to me. Overall they were very polite, professional, and friendly. However, for the price, I will find another repair company next time. $273 for less than 1 hour of work and a cheap part was simply too much.

We have a 20 year old microwave oven combo unit in which the microwave stopped working few weeks back. We called Lake appliance repair to fix the uwave portion and the tech arrived really soon and on time. After a lot of work, he found the issue on the microwave and replaced a switch for 240 bucks in total (service+labor+parts). This was professional and good work and I had no problem with it. The evening the repair was done, we found that the oven stopped working/the control panel for oven stopped responding. I called the company back the next morning and a tech was sent home the following day to take a look at the new issue. They diagnosed and said that it is a non-fixable issue and that I had to replace the entire unit. When I questioned them on what happened, they said it was a coincidence that the oven went out the same day as the microwave and that they didn't have anything to do with it. They also started questioning whether the oven was broken in the first place and that I mislead them and that the tech didn't do anything with it (if this was the case, I would have swapped the entire unit at once rather than waste 240 bucks on repair and the fact that we have food residue on the oven from usage a day earlier shows that the oven worked fine till the professional touched it). Totally unprofessional response and the fact that the second tech who came in didn't even talk to the first tech on what happened, what was repaired and what was touched spoke volumes about their service. This claim/dispute will be escalated and beware of their service ethics.

Response from Lake Appliance Repair Inc
[member name removed] called us out to repair his 20 year old microwave/oven combination unit. We went out to his home and found the micro switch had short circuit to ground. We quoted the customer for the repair of his microwave and he approved. We had the part and installed it, tested the microwave, which now worked well, and went on our way. The customer called us the next day and said his oven is now not working. We sent a different technician to his home, free of charge as a recheck, to see what the issue was. This technician is a 15 year vet and did come prepared with all of the history from the microwave repair we did the day prior contrary to what [member name removed] stated. We sent Paul rather than the first technician because Paul was in his area and we wanted to get the customer seen as soon as possible. Our technician found that the oven control had a failure. We could not get the control to respond. We found the control had a blown fuse. We replaced the fuse and got a portion of the control functional. Unfortunately we found the oven control was no longer available and unable to be rebuilt. Being a 20 year old unit, this is not completely uncommon. [member name removed] assumes that because this failure took place after our technician left his home that our technician caused this failure. It is highly unlikely that changing the micro switch would cause the control to fail. It is very unfortunate this has happened, but the unit is 20 years old and does not have a life expectancy over 15 years according to the manufactures of micro/ovens. [member name removed] stated he thought our technicians accused him of knowing about the oven failure prior to us coming out. Our company would never finger point blame; we are in the business of resolving issues, not creating them. Because of the unfortunate timeline of events, and without taking any fault, we offered to refund the customer in full for the microwave repair we made on the first trip out. This was based on the fact that we could not prove that our technician didn't cause the failure. The customer had bought a new unit and got rid of the old unit before I, as a service manager, could inspect anything. The customer insisted that we pay for half of a brand new appliance and a full refund of the microwave repair. A brand new unit is approx $2500. Keeping in mind, this customer got a good 20 years out of the machine he was replacing. In absolute no way was this fair for him to pin on us. However we understand how it could like this way. We then found out that he had a previous service company out to fix his oven before we ever serviced the microwave. The service didn't go well for [member name removed] which is why he called us. I don't have any further details regarding this service but wish I did. I ended up offering this customer a full refund AND out of good will my services to install the new appliance he was having delivered. He declined. We issued a full refund to his credit card before he could dispute it with his credit card company to save anymore headaches. We are truly upset about this situation and wish it could have been avoided. We feel we were more than fair and without fault. Sometimes we just won't win; this is one of those situations.
