First hot day of the year and the AC didn't work!I called Yeager Services. They had provided "tune-up" service for AC and Heating Units in the past.First available appointment time was a week away. But when I explained the situation, Curt agreed to "fit us in."He arrived early in the evening and immediately diagnosed the problem. Amazingly he had a replacement fan in his truck. He replaced it, fixed the problem and the house was cool by bedtime!
Description of Work: Non-functioning AC cooling unit fan replaced.

I liked Curt's demeanor, he's experienced & down to earth. Easy to work with. Fair & professional. I will use his services again & recommend him. He knows his stuff & he explains things clearly & his pricing is fair.
Description of Work: My furnace is in the attic, and we weren't getting enough heat through the ceiling vents. Early Friday morning, I checked a few sites on Angie's List & called three contractors. I called Yaeger Services in Orange & Curt's wife answered & he called back first. (I left messages for the others, no problem, they're all busy guys.) We made an appt & Curt came over a few hrs later. He was on a job, but was able to finish before our appt. Turns out, my ducts were damaged & some were disconnected! They were installed improperly by the furnace contractor years ago. Curt connected them & I had enough heat after that. I was relieved. Curt informed me that the ducts had deteriorated & were in poor shape, & quoted me on their replacement, which I'll do later this yr. While he was here, he also checked my furnace.

Response to my inquiry was almost immediate. Service was timely and very professional. Mr. Yaeger identified the problem, gave me an estimate of cost, and performed the repair quickly. His work was comprehensive and he didn't seem to mind answering questions about the system. He cleaned up all the equipment as well as any debris generated by the repairs. I would not hesitate to recommend this company to you. East to talk to and knowledgeable - what more can one want? This one's a winner!
Description of Work: The AC/heating system wasn't working. He found the electrical receptacle in the AC closet needed replacing. After doing that (he had the parts on his truck) he checked out both the condenser and forced air unit (which is old). Called me with the results of his investigation. We agreed on repair tasks. He went right to work and had the unit functioning very quickly. He cleaned everything, even the unit outside, and checked to see everything was in working order. Answered questions from the tenant about how to use the unit and keep it in good running order. Called me when work was complete - neat, clean and professional.

I interviewed six HVAC companies. Yaeger was selected because they provided the best technical solution with the engineering calculations to support their choices. They werenot the cheapest nor were they the most expensive vendor. Most other vendors just gave me literature and a quicky quote. Yaeger spent time investigating the existing system and attic spaces then measuring each room. They then performed proper heat load calculations to determine the size of vents and ducting required for each room and the size of furnace required (in this case, 60,000 BTUs and 3 Tons). In addition, they provided a unique attic access solution of their own design using the 30 inch square return vent and a custom built upper hinged lid to provide attic access. This replaced the tiny original attic access panel while also providing the return air vent in one opening. The company consists of the father, Curt and son, Herb plus technician Omar. Curt had over 30 years refrigeration experience and Herb about 15 years HVAC experience.Yaeger uses a certified 3rd party to handle asbestos abatement, the cost included in the price of the system.Yaeger arrived on time and worked diligently each day of the 3-day install. They kept the work areas clean and upon completion, carefully vacuumed the entire area to remove any trace of their activities.I would not hesitate to recommend Yaeger Services to anyone needing HVAC work. In fact, I intend to use them again for work on a rental house I own.
Description of Work: We had a new furnace installed in the attic. Removal of old furnace in hall closet. Old asbestos ductwork removed. New insulated ductwork installed. New registers (vents) installed. New thermostat installed.

It went fantistic. I had heating wires in the ceiling and a wall cooling unit in the master bedroom that I wanted to replace. Yeager is Edison approved so I qualified for the $1700 rebate program. Unless the contractor is approved by Edison no rebate is given. That's $1700 off of the $11,500 price.

The crew of two arrived a few minutes early, prepared and ready to go. They were friendly, covered my carpets, and were comfortable to have in my home. The crew worked the entire day, and their lunch break was conducted on my front porch; they did not waste time leaving for lunch. It was obvious that the crew ran into issues as my attic has flat areas, but they kept at it and came up with solutions. The owner also came to my home, and was also helpful. Two grills were installed that had not been included in the estimate, and they did not charge any extra. Also, the worker asked about molding going into the bedroom area, so that the new grills would not interfere with new baseboards that I am going to install. That was great. Overall, a really good experience, and will definitely use this company again in the future.
Description of Work: Removal of asbestos in the heating system, and replacement of air ducts in the attic. Also installation of a new furnace flue, with piping to roof. Installation of new supply and return grills, as well as making two new return grills in two bedrooms to allow for appropriate air return to the heating system.

Our home was built in 1972 and had central heating but no central air. The house has no gas, all appliances are electrical. We obtained quotes from 4 different HVAC vendors. Yaeger wasthe 2nd cheapest and included replacement of the existing ductwork in the quote. They also recommended a heat pump in place of a furnace and A/C unit as it is more cost effective. Installation took 2 and a half days. The job took about a half day longer than expected (believe it was due to unavailble parts). The installation crew was punctual and very professional. They laid down drop cloths to minimize mess and were very polite during the install. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing HVAC services.
Description of Work: Services Performed: 1. Installation of a heat pump system to replace existing furnace and add A/C functionality. 2. Replacement of existing ductwork and addition of additional duct. 3. Run electrical line fromfuse box to attic. 4. Wire attic light.

I called to schedule an appointment on Wednesday for Friday Afternoon. Curt answered the phone, I described the problem, and he said "Ah, I think I know what the problem is" and booked the appointment himself. He came to our house amid chaos (our street was being re-paved) at about 3:45 (scheduled arrival window 3-5). Curt arrived with a warm smile, and after introductions, we showed him the furnace and he got right to it. He quickly identified the problem as a needed new Capacitor. He went to his truck, got 4 different ones and installed the new one. He then did some checks and we found that the motor didn't sound right. He checked the type of motor with his handy mirror, and then gave us the good and bad news. The good news, it was fixable, the bad.......because our Lennox has a proprietary bracket, he didn't have the exact one on his truck. He gave a quote of $450.00, and said he would remove the old one and housing, take it home to clean it, and replace it tomorrow around 2 (Saturday because he had another call also). He called in the morning to confirm if he could come earlier. Shortly he called back to say he would be here around 2 afterall. He returned, intalled the new 3/4 HP motor (instead of 1/2 HP b/c he read about and decided it would be better suited to the size of our furnace) and we are now back in business. Curt is a VERY nice man, and it was like chatting with your Dad or an old friend while having something important repaired. Higly Reccomend!
Description of Work: Our furnace would turn on for 1 cycle, then just hum when the next cycle was supposed to start. Problem: No A/C or fan operation.

Mr. Yaeger, came out that afternoon, he and his assistant found the motor on the furnace was not working. He had a replacement motor with him, but after further inspection, he realized the motor was solder to the casing. Mr. Yaeger, came out the next morning with a new motor already mounted, and installed it in about an hour. We were very impressed with the service we received. The price charged was very reasonable. I would strongly recommend this company !
Description of Work: Mr. Curt Yaeger, came out on Friday, 8/26/2011. To assess our non working air conditioners. We had originally called a different provider, but he was not able to come out as his truck broke down. Temperature that day was about 96 degrees, so we needed service right away.

My advice is to call these guys first.
Description of Work: Herb spent more than 5 hours resolving the issues with the A/C system. After fixing it he explained in detail what he had done and why. Unfortunately we had already had several other companies incorrectly diagnose the problems before we found Yaeger Services on Angies List. This company will be our first choice for heating/ac issues in future. They are a thoroughly professional operation and I strongly recommend them.

I was in a bind due to leaving on vacation and not wanting to leave my house sitter with no AC. They fit us in for next day service and showed up right on time.
Description of Work: Our AC had frozen over. We did some troubleshooting with a family member in HVAC business that lives up North and he gave us some tips and pointers and suggested it was the Freon. Herb came out and did a full check - advised it was not Freon and most likely over use. We've adjusted our min temp during the day and no problems since. He also gave us some pointers on how to re do our filtration space - we will most likely use them to do this job.

Curt's son Herb and another associate came out to perform all of the work. They were punctual and got the whole job done in just a couple days. They left everything very clean. While installing the units in the garage, Herb had to remove and reinstall the water heater. He noticed that our water heater had an excessive amount of sediment in it and that it was likely to leak soon. He offered to pick up a water heater at Home Depot while he was there and just charge us for the cost of the water heater since he had to reinstall ours anyway. I found the Yaeger's to be very professional, and they communicated very well about the progress on the job and any questions or issues they uncovered. We were very happy with the service and with the job they completed.
Description of Work: We had a rental house where the forced air unit was no longer working. Curt Yaeger came out and did a full inspection and quoted us what it would cost to repair the system and what it would cost for a new system. He told us the condition and risks associated with trying to repair the system given its age. He quoted both options for us clearly in the proposal. He made the adjustments on the size of the heating and air conditioning units so that we had good airflow but did not have to replace the ducting since it was in good condition except for one area that they repaired. This saved us additional costs associated with putting in higher capacity ducting in the attic.

Mr. Yeager arrived on time and was very friendly and efficient. He determined the primary problem within a few minutes and resolved it quickly. He noticed the electrostatic air cleaner and offered to clean it, quoting me a fair price for doing so. I gladly accepted, as we don't get around to doing it nearly often enough. Altogether it was an excellent experience.
Description of Work: Our AC had stopped producing cool air. Mr. Yaeger serviced the AC system, including gauge checking the system, washing the outside of the condenser, and adding coolant, which fixed the problem. He also cleaned our electrostatic air cleaner, which we had not done in some time.

I originally called another company to come to look at the heating and air conditioning of my home. However after reading from so many other customers how bad the company was, I searched Angie's List and found Yaeger Services Inc. in Orange. They came on time and checked, glued, oiled and changed the special air filter of the unit. They were honest and meticulous as well as very friendly. I will continue to use them in the future.
Description of Work: Performed a tune up and check up of the heating and air conditioning unit of my home. Adjusted, tightened and glued loose wall panels. Brought on a second trip new accordion air filter and installed it. They were very thorough and friendly and seemed extremely honest. They took their time and did not overlook anything. This will be the only heating and air conditioning company that I will ever use from now on.

Kurt Yaeger came out to look at our system and determine what we needed regarding a new furnace. He spent a good amount of time in the house and on the phone (explaining in detail what was needed and what could be done). After a few phone calls, we decided to go ahead with the installation of just a furnace (cleaning of the evaporator coil and possibly a new one if needed). I did let Yaeger know that we had a certain budget, so doing the "ideal" was not possible at the moment. We confirmed work with a deposit and set a date for the installation. On the day of installation, Kurt's son was in charge of the work. Before anything was taken out, he let us know that 1) the furnace specified would not fit into our closet and 2) the evaporator coil really needed replacing, not cleaning. And he had concerns about the ducting. We both decided that no work was to be done at that point. I spoke with him for a while and then with Kurt. Kurt came out the following Saturday to explain everything and give me a new quotation. He also returned my deposit with no problem. The quote was for about $6,000 more than the initial quote, due to the increase in scope of work (evaporator coil to be replaced, furnace to be installed in the attic instead of the closet, and all new duct work). At this point, I started over. I had three other companies come in to review and submit quotations (2 from Angie's list and 1 which was a personal recommendation). All three said it was okay to go ahead an install in the closet (they had the room) and the duct work was not an immediate need to change. Based on the quotes I got back, I believe Yaeger would have been in the ballpark (cost/price) for the services they outlined, but we decided to only have the furnace installed and evaporator coil cleaned. The service was done in 1 day by another Angie's list resource. THE SAME TONNAGE QUOTED BY YAEGER FIT IN THE CLOSET AND WAS INSTALLED. We have heat and most all registers have a decent air flow.
Description of Work: We chose Yaeger to install a new furnace in our house.

I wasn?t too happy with them. I wanted the duct work replaced under my house because of a sewer leakage. They came out and gave me an estimate of $4716 to do the job. They were supposed to come back out to do the work. I was really desperate to get the job done since I have kids. When I asked the guy to come out, he told me that he was really busy at that time. He told me that he couldn?t come out for two weeks. Later, the day was set for him to come out. When the time came, he never showed up. I called him and he told me that I hadn?t signed the invoice, which was sent to me for scheduling the time. I had to wait for two weeks and then he told me that I hadn?t signed the contract. He admitted that he was very busy the week I had earlier called him. I think what happened was he got more customers and he could make more money because of the heat wave. He ditched me and never called me. I felt it was lame. He could have told me that he was really busy and couldn?t come over. He could have patched it over, but he didn?t do it. He was very arrogant and hence he lost the job. I was mad about the situation and I told him that it was very unprofessional of him to give me an alibi of a contract not signed. It was not a reason or excuse for him to not call me back and tell me that I hadn?t signed the contract. It was very fishy. I didn?t use him. When I contacted another company, they gave me a quote for $2000 for doing the same job. They would use a higher quality duct material. I think this guy was trying to overcharge me. I think he wanted to stand me off during the heat wave and make money from other customers. He was also very impolite on the phone. He tried to tell me that he was the boss. I didn?t like him. It took me a month to get things in order. I am not satisfied with his services. I will never use this company again in the future.

The member called and wanted us out that day. We were busy and had work scheduled. The member never called beforehand to confirm the work, date and method of payment ( insurance company) nor did we receive a signed contract with a deposit. We offered to come out in two days and do a temporary repair followed up in a week to finish the work. The member said this was not accepticable and would call someone else.

This company is fantastic! I highly recommend them to anyone who is experiencing problems with their heating or air conditioning systems. They are honest and do great work at a great price! I contacted at least seven different contractors regarding the problems I was having with my central air conditioner. During the process of trying to find a contractor, I joined Angie's List after I was unsatisfied with the first four contractors I contacted. They all had different opinions on what needed to be done and the prices quoted were thousands of dollars higher than I had expected. However, when I met with Curt Yaeger, the owner of Yaeger Services, I was very pleasantly surprised at the amount of time he spent inspecting and measuring the current system I had that was approximately 28 years old. He explained everything and provided me with a very detailed proposal afterward that included the exact make and model numbers of the equipment to be installed as well as optional upgrades and the prices that I could also consider. Having that information made it so much easier for me to research the available options and make an informed decision. Mr. Yaeger was also very knowledgeable regarding the permits needed to do the work and the new additional HERS requirements passed into law in January 2010. He also explained how the tax credits worked so I could evaluate whether higher costs for more efficient equipment would pay off in the future. I decided to hire Yaeger Services to replace the entire HVAC system using the existing duct work. My old system was a 3 ton air conditioner and I believe a 95,000 btu furnace. The old furnace was twice the size it needed to be and the existing duct work was much too small for a 3 ton air conditioning system which partially explained why the unit ran constantly and never cooled the house down to the set temperature on the hottest days. Yaeger Services listened carefully to my concerns and also factored in that I was having my patio door and windows replaced with new dual pane Milgard windows. They sized the new units accordingly and installed a 45,000 btu furnace and a 2-1/2 ton air conditioning system, both made by Goodman. They also added another new duct line to bring cold air to the kitchen which was always very warm and uncomfortable in the past and to meet the minimum duct size requirements. They installed all new vent covers as well. The gentlemen who did the installation were very knowledgeable and professional and I felt very comfortable having them in my home. They did meticulous work and cleaned up thoroughly afterward. I have used both the heat and air conditioning for a little over a month now and everything works perfectly. The new system is MUCH quieter than the old one too. Overall, this company listened carefully to my concerns and wants and did an outstanding job of exceeding my expectations both in workmanship and price. I can't say enough good things about them!

My last HVAC guy tried to hustle and fast talk me in to a new furnace so it was nice to have an honest HVAC professional charge me a fair price to just diagnose and fix the problem on a perfectly god furnace. After I paid him he spent an additional 10 or 15 minutes suggesting steps I could take to make my furnace run better (I'm a contractor too so I didn't want to pay him to do things I can do myself).
Description of Work: Diagnosed and repaired burner failure in furnace. Made recomendations to improve furnace efficiency. Made filter
