Overall it was a relief to have someone describe the issues, the solutions and actually do them without making a huge mess. See above the services provided.
Description of Work: After dealing with Empire Plumbing and not finding it satisfactory, I joined Angie's List and looked for a Plumber with a better rating. Found Moffett had a lot of Good comments so called them. They came out, told me that the pipe needed to be replaced, ran a camera down the lateral to the street and told me roots were encroaching at the joints. They suggested a liner for the lateral. So to avoid future problems, I told them to replace the Y line that comes from the bathrooms to the main lateral, and to line it. It cost a lot of money. My Brother sent me pictures of the roots that Moffett pulled out of those lines and it was huge, I don't know how the other Company couldn't have cut through it after three trips out there. Anyway, Moffett's did a professional job, left NO messes (which was a big deal considering what we were dealing with), cleaned the bathroom floor, swept up dirt, and we were really satisfied with their service.

Everything was great. They were in and out in 4 days. I paid them a little extra to move my washer as well so I could fit my car in the garage. They provided a solid service. I have had no trouble at all.

I had called Tom Moffett when my toilet was leaking. My first contact happened to be Mike Moffett and he explained in laymen's terms that I could understand what my options were and we settled on replacing the toilet with one Mike recommended. He gave me an estimate right over the phone(and it was less than another company I had called). I then spoke to his office manager Rachel who was able to schedule an appointment for the NEXT day, a Saturday. The technicians arrived within the timeframe scheduled and were extremely professional and very nice. I brought up a sink I had that was leaking that I hadn't mentioned when I scheduled the appointment and the senior technician, Jamie, got right on it and took care of it. Then he looked at my toilet and suggested that the toilet I'd chosen might not be the best fit with my home and he was right. He then volunteered to drive all the way back to their office and get a different toilet. Keep in mind this was at 5:00PM on a Saturday. I was amazed and frankly felt badly and said I'd be satisfied with the toilet I'd originally ordered that they had brought out but he asked, "wouldn't you like the other better?" and, of course, I did like the other better and off he went. They finished at 9:00PM Saturday night, cleaned up and all of this for exactly what Mike had originally quoted me over the phone. I would definitely recommend Tom Moffett Plumbing.

I called Tom Moffett Plumbing at approximately 8:30 in the morning. The receptionist was very polite and said she could have a truck there between 9:00 and 10:00. I received a call at about 9:30 telling me the truck was on the way. The plumbers arrived at 9:45. The plumbers, Jamie and Rene, introduced themselves and put shoe covers on before entering the house. The looked at the problem drains and then told me they were going to get equipment from their truck. They came back with a camera to inspect the drains. In the past, we have had plumbers say they would inspect the drains for a fee of up to $1,100. I was very pleased by the fact that the inspection was part of the $59 service fee. The inspection revealed a clog - of course. I agreed to have them snake the drain to get rid of the clog. They ran the snake from the house to the city sewer, which is a long way past where the clog was. They then ran the camera again to the city sewer to make sure there were no more clogs. After removing their equipment, they thoroughly cleaned everything including the tub where water backed up. The total bill was just under $300 with the 10% Angies List discount. We will probably have Tom Moffett Plumbing do some more work for us to make sure the drains in our 50 year old house will be clean and clear into the future. UPDATE: After the technicians recommended hydrojetting the sewer lines, I consulted my wife. We decided to have the additional work done to ensure clean sewer lines. I called the company and was again greeted by someone who was very nice and efficient. She arranged a same day appointment. The truck arrived exactly when they said it would. The same technicians got right to work. They started the project but soon ran into a problem. They could not get the nozzle for the hydrojet around a corner in the drain pipe. They tried to get it around for well over an hour, but they could not make the bend. I found this kind of odd since they were able to get a camera and snake around the same bend. I guess the different equipment has different abilities to negotiate corners. Well, finally they gave up and said the cast iron pipe up to the bend was really clean but they just could not get the roots out of the clay pipe. They said the only fix they could think of was to put another cleanout in my patio that would give them access to the pipes. The estimate for that was about $2100. I declined and told them I could pay for a lot of snake jobs for that amount. They sent the camera back down the drain, and this time, the technician told me the roots were just grass roots that were not all that bad. Well, I was kind of upset at that point because if they were not that bad, why did they recommend the hydrojet a few days earlier? I recognize that the technicians worked hard, and they were really nice. However, I now think that they may have been recommending things in order to stay busy and make money, not because I really needed them. I may still use Tom Moffett Plumbing, but I will be sure to limit the scope of work to what I feel is necessary and not what they recommend.
Description of Work: The technicians inspected a clogged drain then cleaned it with a snake. They reinspected the drain after cleaning. The inspection and cleaning were from the clean out on the house to the city sewer line. ADDITIONAL WORK: Upon recommendation by the technicians, I arranged to have them hydrojet the sewer lines.

SOS "Simply Outrageous Top of the Line Service" A ++ I emailed Tom Moffett plumbing Memorial Day Weekend via Angies list and to my surprise I received a call from Mike Moffett on Sunday night offering to send out one of his plummers on Monday Memorial day! I explained to him that my 40 gallon water heater had leaked throughout my kitchen but i had it under control until Tuesday! Ray and Mike arrived at my house bright and breezy Tuesday morning with quite a few options to choose from in regard to my water heater and options (Conventional Tank, Hybrid or Tankless) with the pros/cons/cost of each product clearly explained. I am a sales person myself and i must say it was an incredible surprise to deal with such well mannered, well educated professional representatives who's ultimate goal at the end of the day was my complete satisfaction coupled with a package that suited my needs and budget that day. I was so happy and comfortable with the service that in addition to replacing my water heater i asked them to also replace two of my toilets. It's clear to me that this company really values it's customers and their care and the fact that Mike Mofett the owner actually took the time to call me on a Sunday night over a holiday weekend makes me a solid "raving fan" and a very happy ongoing customer!! Thank you Tom Moffett Plumbing!!

I called on Saturday around 9:30 am to make an appointment for Monday thinking it will be more expensive on the weekends. The weekend service charge was only $20 more so I had them come out on Saturday. The appointment was for between 11 and noon. Joe showed up on time around 11:20 am. He said he'll check first for obvious signs of leaks in the condo and he was satisfied that there were no obvious leaks. He then tested my water line and found that it did not seem to have a leak. Next he cut into the wall above the water leak but he could not find the source. Then we went to the neighbor's condo with whom I share a common wall. Joe did the same investigations and found that there was evidence of a water leak. The neighbor decided to have Joe find that water leak. It turned out to be a fault in the dish washer connection. Before Joe went to work on the neighbor's problem, he cleaned up my job site. Joe was extremely neat. He put on booties just to walk through my condo. He even laid down a tarp in the garage when he cut through the wall to catch the saw dust. And he swept up before starting work at my neighbor's. Even though I ended up with a hole in the wall, I'm glad that Joe was able to quickly find the source of the leak and I'm also glad that it wasn't a major plumbing problem for my neighbor.

Our washing machine started running water all over the garage floor instead of going out the pipe. We got an appointment for the very next morning as it was not an emergency which would have been attended to that day as per previous calls to them proved. We received a call from Stephanie at the office to let us know that they were on the way. They showed up within 10 minutes. All Moffett employees are very professional, clean appearance, friendly, educated in their field. They are punctual and there is no high pressure sales. Even though I told them many times not to worry about the paper booties they put them on every single time they enter the house. There is never a mess left in anyway. I will use Tom Moffett Plumbing as long as they are in business and I need a plumber as I suggest that you do. You will never be disappointed
Description of Work: They came over because we were having a leak problem with our washing machine. They replaced the pipe that rust had completely ruined. While he was there he did a 300 point inspection (done yearly) and drained the water heater. When inspecting the water heater he found that the anode rod (which collects all the junk in the water before it goes into the house pipe) was in a must replace phase (pictures of different stages of deterioration and the actual rod were shown to us). With no pressure sales we decided to have him replace that also.

Showed up on time, was professional, and did quality work. I was just surprised at how expensive it was. Installing the faucet, two copper "Ts", and recessing a gas line behind wall (all simple jobs) cost $780 - and that included the Angie's List discount. He quoted over $900 to recess the gas line into the wall behind the oven. I told him I would pass on that. I had an electrician at my house for 6 hours the week before and he charged $550, so I guessed the plumbing would run about the same. I don't know if plumbers charge a lot more than electricians, but quoting a total of $1,700 for this job seemed expensive. I will get another quote to recess the gas line behind the stove, hopefully it will be less than $900.
Description of Work: I am remodeling my kitchen and I had trouble installing a wall faucet, and needed hot and cold water lines split off from the copper pipes under the sink for a dishwasher and a refridgerator. Also needed a gas line recessed behind the wall, and another gas line behind the stove recessed into the wall because the stove was hitting the pipe and sticking out from the wall 3".

Response from Tom Moffett Plumbing
Thank you for your honest review. We are proud of our professionalism and reputation and you took the time to preface what would otherwise be a very poor review by mentioning it. As far as your concern with price, I can't apologize enough that we failed to show the value in our services. I only hope that our technician treated your home with pride and dignity by parking on the street and confirming with you the proper placement of the vehicle prior to entering your home and by wearing floor-savers the entire time of being in your home. After over 40 years in the plumbing service and repair business, we know we could charge less if we neglected to invest in costly programs such as drug-testing and training, but we owe it to you to send out the best technicians in the industry that can be trusted to work in close proximity with your family. I'm sorry that you felt our rates were high, and again I know it was our fault in not showing the value, but I must ask "Compared to what?" Thank you for your review and please remember that our goal is your 100% satisfaction. Please don't hesitate to contact me directly if I can be of any help. Michael Moffett 714-541-6407

They were on time, and they called prior to arrival. They helped me make a decision on either to just temporally fix or replace. I feel confident that the information I was given was proper and price definitely within appropriate range... The faucet that needed tightening was done beyond expectations, I have had some work like this done before, and most plumbers would not do because they didn't start the original work. The workers were clean, and the work was preformed quickly. Even when I tried to say, "You don't have to wear your booties to keep the carpet clean", both refused, and said they would wear even if our carpet was dirty, (which it's not the cleanest.) I will definitely call them again when I need work done. I hope I get the same plumbers again.
Description of Work: They replaced a toilet and tightened a loose faucet. We had been having problems with the Master Rooms toilet not emptying and had a loose kitchen faucet since my wife tried to surprise me with replacing by doing it herself.

Jaime at Tom Moffett came by between the designated time and took a look. He gave me a brief history of the family owned company and was dressed professionally. He was well informed and very nice. He gave me a written estimate and some options before proceeding with more work. Overall, the fix was a band-aid solution since it would've cost me almost $2,000 to fix, which I thought was REALLY high. They did a good job and I would use them again despite the high cost.
Description of Work: Underground leak by my sprinkler main valves was flooding an area of the lawn and my neighbor's lawn. I had to install two ball valves one for the house and the other for the sprinkler system since my current valves were malfunctioning. They also had to dig underground to find the source of the leak.

Originally I called to have my kitchen faucet repaired not replaced. Two gentlemen arrrived on time. Very clean and courteous. Examined my problem and gave me an approximate amount for repair. While examining my broken faucet the other gentlemen tried to cross sell all types of company plans. This approach while being very courteous became extremely annoying and frustrating. I had ordered the part from Delta Faucet and the part did not fit. I re-ordered the part and the plumbers returned - again the part did not fit. The plumbers ordered the part from their supplier and it did not fit.. Unfortunately, Delta Faucets sent the wrong part three times. During the process of the back and forth - the servicemen were extremely patient and courteous. I was able to purchase a complete new faucet for the price of the repair.

The bypass valve blew out at about 8 pm on sunday 10/10. The tech arrived in about 1 hr. and got right to work. He took pressure readings and found that I had 110 psi in the house which probably caused the valve to fail ( pressure should be 70 psi max.) It was late when he finished the valve so I had him come back on wed. 10/13 to replace the bad regulator. He ( Ray ) was very professional and told me exactly what it would cost before starting work. The quality of his work was excellent.

David, the technician, and his helper were prompt and went right to work after I explained all of the problems. Cleaning all the bathroom drains was pretty straight foreward and was reasonably priced. Replacing the brass popup in the sink was a little high. But David did try to talk to the office to get a better price. They were able to give me a $25. discount. Since they use straightforward pricing, most of their costs are set. This was explained clearly to me which I accepted. Overall the quality of work was very good.

This was not a easy job- it involved replacing the main line from the house to the septic tank- the line was original to the house which was approximately 69 years old. The line literally disintegrated when it was dug up. A toilet line also had to be replaced as it was same in age and was leaking. On the vent they tried to use the sleeve- but it wouldn't fit (again a OOOOLD pipe). Overall they were extremely professional, extremely punctual and worked very well me. They were super knowledgeable and had the entire job completed in 2 days. The fact that they were used to working on older historical homes put my mind at ease, which made me very comfortable with the team that was sent. They all knew what they were doing. They had the job completed with plenty of time for me to have a large party 2 wks later (good sewer and toilet lines very important for 60 people visiting). Also one of the best features was I was able to have the water on when they were gone didn't have to turn it back off till they returned the next day. I have to say that was fabulous-in the past i've had the experience where that wasn't a option. I haven't had a single problem since they were here. The cleaned up after themselves better than any of other service companies I've done' business with. They even disposed of the old pipe themselves -no it wasn't in my trash. They put back the cement (rough patch) that had to be dug up - and it turned out looking great- much better than expected. Pricing: I had 3 different estimates for this job. Moffets was exactly in the middle. What was astounding was the estimate was completely itemized for each part and included labor--when it came time to pay- It was exactly what the estimate stated. The only difference was the toilet vent that I actually had them check out after the estimate and during the work- and again they gave a itemized list and kept exactly to it. I've never had that experience w/a plumming service before. The work was exceptional- pricing was great when you know EXACTLY what is needed and there were no surpises at all. I highly recommend them and have been recommending them ever since. If you want no worries and the job done right the first time- just call them and relax. Whatever the problem is-it'll be fixed :-) -- p.s. The Angie's list discount- that helps a lot!! - p.p.s. There is a plan to become a diamond club member where you will always have a plummer out to you w/in a couple of hours with the same visit fee- holidays or not. Also the money put into that acts like a discount if you have a issue- they use it towards your bill- Awesome idea if you have a older home or just bought a new to you home.
Description of Work: Job entailed the main line to septic tank to be removed and replaced, a bath tub drain to be added and linked to the main septic line, and a toilet line & vent were replaced. The work was done on a older, historic home and involved working with a basement and digging thru cement and dirt to the septic tank. These pipes were part of the last original plumming pieces of the house. The main sewer pipe was in bad shape, it was literally flaking away.

The two employees arrived and they cleared the line just fine. It seemed like a reasonable price, but I just wanted it done and did not take the time to get other estimates. The annoying part was that they tried to sell me every other service under the sun. They offered to dig up my yard and put in a clean out for $8K, and to put me on a service plan for $35 a month or something like that. And to put in a new water heater. I do need a new water heater, but I just wasn't ready to deal with those things. It also REALLY bothered me that they sent two guys, one was the salesman and the other was the laborer. Seriously, the difference could not have been more striking. The white salesman did all the talking to me and selling and no work. The person of color did ALL the labor, which involved climbing on the roof and hauling a big snake machine up there. That is what bothered me the most. Their company model was just so obviously socially stratified. I would rather have just hired the laborer directly and skipped the sales guy all together.
Description of Work: I needed the line from our house out to the sewer cleared. The washer discharge was backing up into a nearby sink.

I'm sorry if you felt because our 2 technicians were of different ethnicity that there is ANY type of racial profiling within our company. We have many apprentices all of different ethnic backgrounds and technicians with varying backgrounds as well. Your "round about" prices that you suggest in your report are nowhere near accurate, and I'm sorry you didn't see the value in adding a ground level clean-out as required by local codes. At any rate, it seems you were happy with the outcome of the service call and that our crew was friendly and knowledgeable. Thank you for using our services and we hope to provide excellent service again in the future.
