GDI Garage Doors

The garage door was not lifting all the way. They guy who came to take a look at said the springs were broken and wanted to charge me $1500 to replace it. I called another provider and he fixed it for a small amount. In something in the motor had to be re programmed. This guy knew nothing

We recently purchased this property. The garage door looked like it had not been maintained for awhile. It needed a new roller. I also ask Josh to install a remote opener in the garage itself and change out the two older car remotes with new sensors for security purposes ( one of the older ones was missing). He took just about one hour for the entire thing. He was a very pleasant guy to do business with.

He wasn't able to fix the doors because new motors and sensors are needed, but did as much as he could to help and was very informative.

These guys are scammer. On 8/14/2015 Josh came out and serviced the garage doors for $39.00 Angie's List Promo. I paid him an extra $152 to replace the weather stripping. Door was working and then started making noise. So on 10/16/2015 a new guy John comes out. He says I need to spend $2000 for a new garage door. Suddenly in 2 months the garage goes bad after you just did $191.00 in repairs. THESE GUYS ARE SCAMMERS. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY.

on the doors.They were prompt, professional and very polite. He gave me some excellent information about our openers, which are older, but he said they were in very good shape. I did not feel he was trying to sell me anything or create issues that were not there. They inspection is a little pricey ( I had both doors inspected) for what it is, but I understand for them to drive out, etc., they need to charge enough to make it worth while. I will definitely call them when I need work done

They did a fantastic job. Another company had came out previously and did not diagnose the problem correctly and I ended up with unnecessary repairs. GDI diagnosed the issue correctly, installed a new motor and now my garage door works wonderfully.

Upon leaving my home we still had the problems with our garage door. The remote to the garage door was still no working.The technician while here informed us it had something to do with our electrical system , or said that it may be our cable box might be interfering with our garage door opening system. A couple of days we had noticed our garage door key pad quit working.The coincidence that the key pad quit working seems hard to believe exactly after this guy would do a service call. When we have never had problems with it in the past. We decided to let the problem go, and told someone about what had happened. Our friend informed us that something must have gone wrong when the technician was there. So we called the company to tell them what happened with the garage door pad. They then said they would give us a call back. The never gave us a call back. So I call the company yesterday I explained to them exactly what was wrong with the key pad such the lights were not on when you pressed the buttons, and it seemed like it was electrically dead,and I told them to send out a technician. They sent a technician out who said the battery just needs changed. so we changed the battery and the key pad seems to be working fine. The technician then explained to me that I would have to pay them. I told him I was not paying a bill because they could have easily instructed me to replace a battery over the phone. The technician was only here a total of three and half minutes before he threatened to bill us, and made the disparaging remark. Which I found very disturbing.He could have nicely informed me that the battery needed changed and accepted it as a misunderstanding between me and the company. He was more worried about selling me another garage door unit then just trying to make sure the inspection was completed properly. When I called the company and Micheal in their office backed up technician, and said if he drives over here he is supposed to bill the customer. I feel as though Micheal could have informed when I called yesterday that it could be a battery rather than sending someone here, and then trying to bill me.

I purchased a $39 tune up special and scheduled it over the phone. They were supposed to be here today from 11-2 and never showed up. No call, email or anything. Extremely p***** off.

The technician was timely, called ahead, and was pleasant to work with. He knew his business -- everything was completed within 15-20 minutes.

Great, technician was professional and on time. Explained work that would need to be done in the future and didn't try to sell me things I didn't need.

I should have believed the bad reviews that I read on Angie's list before I bought the Groupon for this service. I bought 2 Groupons to service 2 garage doors. The doors were starting to bounce open because the units were old. The technician was on time, pleasant, and informative. He explained the motor issues but thought he could prolong the life of the garage unit. However, the price quickly escalated. The Groupon coupons were no longer sufficient to cover the tune ups. He didn't replace any parts, so this was surprising. I had paid $78 in coupons ($39 for each garage) which had a face value of $200. He charged me $250, but only removed the paid value of the coupon, not the FACE value, which is the whole reason people buy Groupon coupons. So essentially my coupon values were worthless. I called GDI to discuss the accounting. I was given the name of the billing manager, but they would not give me his direct phone number. The GDI front desk transferred me to a scheduler who was extremely rude to me. He refused to let me talk to billing. He was quite offensive, swore at me, and told me he'd have the technician that worked on my garages call me. No person from GDI ever returned my calls, they stole my money, and here's the icing on the cake - THE GARAGE DOOR BROKE AGAIN WITHIN A WEEK!

The driver was not able to find my location after contacting me AFTER his appointment. We had several phone call exchanges and the installer just was not able to find a simple address on a main street in Los Angeles that every Angelino knows about. This dude was not smart enough to google the address; again anyone past the age of 10 could find. Because of this, the job never got done (yes I cancelled it after losing patiences). I can not speak to the quality of work because we did not get that far.

This was a "tune-up" deal. I purchased the tune up on 7/23/15 and included dates that would work for us. I had to call a few times to set up the appointment and was put on hold several times. I wasn't in a rush to have this done. I just needed to know when it would work for them. The technician came out a week later and was fine. They just need a brush-up on customer service.

Would not work on garage door with clutter in the garage. I moved out what I could. Was not good enough for them so they left. I did the work myself including resetting the cables and lubricating the rails and bearings. The final result I did the work myself and they kept the $39.00. I say they did well for themselves

The service person (Cody) seemed quite capable and found an issue with the old rollers quite rapidly. The rest of my system checked out, and no obviously unnecessary up-selling was detected by me. I hate having to subsidize drive time and labor costs (very reasonable from GDI) with high prices on rollers I know I can get far more cheaply, but I much more seriously hate the idea of wrecking my garage door by trying to install them after watching a five-minute video on YouTube. Let the pros do it, especially when they back their work, as GDI has proven to me already that they do. I had a quibble about the wording on the Big Deal--I thought Cody had told me that my door was out of balance, and so I requested that the company send him back to fix that, because the Big Deal mentions balancing the door for proper weight as part of its cost. To me that meant that Cody owed me some balancing, but I failed to understand that my door was not out of balance--it just wasn't necessarily PERFECTLY balanced. Well, if the door hangs at halfway and stays up fully, I guess that's balanced enough. In any case, the company gets points for sending Cody back to clarify the situation for me, and ensure that I was satisfied with the work.

Garage door was not opening. He found the problem, described several solutions and let me decide how I wanted to proceed. We agreed that he would come back in two days with the replacement parts, which he did. He did the repairs, made sure the door was in working order, and then did the maintenance that I originally paid for... Friendly, skilled technician. Would definitely use again.

Great service! I was told that some parts are getting close to needing to be replaced, but did not need immediate attention. It was good to not feel like I had to do something the day of the service and I was told how to make those parts last longer.

Seems to be nothing more than a "bait and switch" operation. The coupon was apparently for a minor tune-up not a "full tune-up". Took over two weeks schedule the appointment. Then finally arrived to provide an exorbitant estimate for work that was handled by another company for half the cost and far more professional. Waste of time and money. Angie's List should do a better job vetting the companies that are allowed to post their coupons on the website. Never again!

He was never arrived the day he was suppose to, came the next day. Came late, spent 10 minutes for $75....door squeaked just after the 30 day warranty was up. Waste of money

Purchased Angie's List deal for garage door tune-up from GDI because our door squeaked very badly when operated. Upon inspection, he determined that the rollers were worn out; said he could lubricate them and the squeaking would stop for a while, but then come back. I gave him the okay, the job was completed within 30 minutes and he applied the cost of the "deal" to the price. No more squeaks! (And he did inspect and lubricate the opener.)

Initial contact was a little difficult, which was partly on my end, but when we finally did make our appointment, GDI showed up right on time. The technician diagnosed the problem with my unevenly closing door, fixed it, lubed and adjusted everything else, and now the garage door operates perfectly again.

I purchased this deal from Angie's list last night and received an email this afternoon, then phone call to schedule appointment. They offered to come out today and delivered on their promise. Ryan D introduced himself when he arrived and got to work right away. He did a 14 point safety checklist first, performed what they call Force adjustment 6 up and 6 down (mine was at a different setting) Lube + tuned the garage door. Ryan also taught me a few things about the security of my garage door opener and completely fixed everything that was my concern. Ryan D did an awesome job and if I ever need another garage door, they will be the first company I call to install it. Thank you Ryan D, you are a true asset to GDI.
