GDI Garage Doors

Zero stars wasn’t an option. Don’t bother wasting your time with GDI. We booked a garage door service with them. They gave us a 3+ hour service window for their arrival. Not only did they no show, but the didn’t bother to call us to tell us that their technician would not be able to service us that day. We had to call them to ask what was going on. Oh, and this exact situation happened 3 DAYS IN A ROW. We really needed a new working garage remote, so we gave them the benefit of the doubt, but 3 strikes and you’re out. What an inconsiderate business.

They scamed me into services that were not needed. This company is known for over charging and scaming customers into unneeded services by the State Licensing Board. That's why they have so many names used in the passed. I am surprised Angie has them on the list of contractors. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY

GDI was a "no show." They earlier assured me they had technicians available and would send one to would my home that evening. I explained particular reasons why I could not leave the garage open all night. At 8PM, I received a call saying they weren't coming because they "couldn't find anyone." They suggested I leave my garage door open all night so they could send somebody the following day.

Bait and switch. Add $99. To replace rubber seal. when installer. Arrived immediately indicated price $200 additional cost for metal strip part rubber seal has to go into. When I said no thank you they lowered to $100. Really shady. Wish the AD was more honest. I.e. Possible additional part will be needed. At that point I ageed to the extra $100 extortion. Then install needed my assistance as this is two man job. They sent 1 man. Install was poor. Part of rubber not fitting in metal guide. Installer advised that's the best they could do. Avoid this company. I not sure to blame installer or company. Possibly both complicant.

It was a bait and switch. Purchased the deal to replace the stripping and then the technician showed up, said that I needed to purchase a new metal strip to hold the stripping (apparently current strip wasn't "compatible). Charged extra labor too. So an item that was supposed to be $99 turned into a $400 endeavor. When I called the company, they said a manager would call me back to work through it. Never happened. Will never use them again or recommend them.

We used GDI Garage Doors when my family and I first moved to Orange County and they were great. They fixed our garage door right away. I recently contacted them again to fix out garage. I made an appointment, took time off of work, but GDI did not show up. I called them to find out what happened and they said they couldn't find our address so gave up. I set up another appointment based on the good work they did before. They again did not show up. When I called them after the appointment time they said that they were running late. They didn't even have the courtesy to call me! DO NOT RELY ON GDI GARAGE DOORS. They are rude, inconsiderate, unreliable, and will simply waste your time with no remorse whatsoever. I ended up contacting Sam's Garage Doors because of their Angie's List rating. They were awesome. The technician even told me that he had heard similar stories about GDI Garage Doors. I definitely learned my lesson.

My son and wife were charged $1187 for 2 springs a tune up and a cable. This is with a Military discount. This owner should be in jail for theft ! He saw 2 young people who did not know better and took advantage of them. After they left and I found out about it I called them and asked for the EXACT service that was preformed and was quoted $224 ! Because I sounded like I knew what I was doing ! When the door STILL didn't work right and came back out they wanted ANOTHER $200 to adjust TWO screws ! Don't EVER, EVER use these thieves ! I'm shocked they are on Angie's list

First visit: Doug did not have the right size. He said he'll order the right size and will come back on Tuesday, 3/28. Second visit: A different man came, told me that he does not have the right size weather stripping. After calls to the main office, Doug came later to apologize and wrote up a receipt for the next date, 4/6/17, that he will come back to do the work. He also said that because the stripping is wider, I will have to pay an extra $57.94 (parts and surcharge). 4/6/17: No show. I called. He said that he usually off on Thursdays. He said he can come on 4/11/17. 4/11/17: No show. I called his phone and left a message. No response. I called the office and was told he can do the job on Friday, 4/14/17. 4/14/17: Doug came to do the installation. After an hour, he said that he will need to come back as the stripping is about an foot short. 4/17/17: I called main office to cancel the job.

Ge arrived on time and worked quickly and professionally. It went very well. The safety light problem was identified and fixed quickly!

Went well. The young man the came out was so nice and so professional. He is an asset to the company

Arrived promptly. Went right to work. Very courteous and professional. Replaced both tension bars.

It didn't go at all no work was ever performed an or never heard from the company an yet my credit card has been charged I will like to be refunded my $289.00 thanks much any questions please call an or email me

It went well. It seemed like the additional work was costly, but I felt like since they were already here I went with it. I think they were fairly priced on their additional work.

It went quite well. I just hadn't come around to do any review yet. But I was very pleased with the job and everything. They were really good about the scheduling. All went quite well, I was very pleased.

The previous owner had GDI install the garage door in our home (they left a sticker for service). After about 2 and a half years, the door began to catch and go back up whenever it was a hot day (and whenever we needed to get somewhere quickly)... I called the number around 9am on a Saturday and the person answers by just saying, "Garage Doors." I give them my address and they say they can come out between 11am and 2pm so I was glad to have same day service. Around 1:40pm, I got a call from one of the company's installers asking to confirm my address because he couldn't find it on his GPS unit even though the street has been here since 1962. I gave him the address again. Ten minutes later he calls and says, "You ARE in Las Vegas, right?" "No. I live in San Diego." Apparently the person who had answered was not paying attention to my address. As a result, they were not able to come to service my door that day--after I had postponed several errands and sat at home for their 3 hour window. The dispatcher called me about 30 minutes later and offered to have someone come first thing Sunday morning (next day) at 8am but restated that the window as 8-11 however we would be the first stop for the technician. I agreed. Sunday morning at 9:50am, I called to see when the technician might show up. The dispatcher said that he would show up by 11 "as promised". At 11:30, I called again. The dispatcher said "I was just going to call you to let you know the technician is running behind but that he would come today as soon as he could." He showed up at 1:45pm. To his credit, the technician was courteous and fixed the problem in about a half hour by replacing the rollers and lubing the system for $185 plus tax.

scheduled 3 appointments with me, no call no showed for the first 2, called them on the third day and they said they couldn't do the job. asked to speak with a manager, put me on hold for ahwile, came back with the same story of how they come back tomorrow, i asked to speak with someone else other than you. then the rep got frustrated with me and yelled at me back and told me to call Angies List for my refund. i hung up on him after i told him it was all 'BS'.

Very disappointed. Apparently garage door and bonus "tune up" means garage door and inspection only, then UP SELLING parts that need to be tuned up or replaced. I had to call the owner in the MIDDLE of work to debate the added costs I was going to be charged in order to have the work covered under any warranty ($475 MORE dollars for a $30-$50 part). I was not informed of the added cost until the operator was already installed. Over the phone, the owner (not installer) brought the added cost down by about $100 and said they's throw in new drums, rollers, cables with the new spring. After 4 hours of work I see the rollers were not replaced and I still need to do that myself. Finally, once all was said and done, I was informed my universal outside remote to open/close the door from outside is not compatible with their garage door opener (how my kids get in the house after school). In fact NO UNIVERSAL remote garage door key pad will work with their system. I must buy their device from them...an ADDITIONAL $69.00. I check for a brand or name to look for the part to order myself and there is no manufacturing information whatsoever. Only their company name and phone number on everything. I feel so scammed. Not the first time a "deal" turns into a much more costly and exhausting ordeal. Total cost $749.50 (would have been almost $900 if I hadn't called the owner) :-(

Everything is perfect. It couldn't be better. They were great.

The service went very smoothly. We purchased a deal on Friday and he came out on Saturday morning to do the work. We are very happy with the work and how quickly he responded to our call.
