I noticed that no air, either hot or cold, was coming out of the ducts in the living room. A trip under the house revealed that at the point where one bit of ductwork joined another, the seam had broken open and all the hot and cold air was escaping into the crawl space. My crude attempts to refasten the ducts didn't work for very long. Eric (great guy!) came out and did the job right ... although it did seem to me that the ductwork should have been suspended from a joist in one place where it wasn't. Months later, the seam remains properly closed and all is well.

Estimator spent a lot of time walking around the house and in the crawl space where the old furnace was located. Did a heat loss/heat gain calculation. Answered all my questions. My old units never seemed to work as well as they should have so I had a lot of concerns (poor cooling, uneven heat distribution). The estimator made a lot of suggestions to address the problems. I had several other estimates. None seemed as willing as Atlas to address my individual concerns about the old units not doing the job. Atlas was the most expensive but seemed the most professional and never tried to sell me. Installers were experienced and very efficient. They did not seem to mind my asking questions and showed me everything the did with pride. The estimator recommended a 3.5 ton AC. Other companies recommended units up to a 5 tons. After the installation, I turned on the AC and it cooled the house immediately. I think this company just knows what it is doing.

Chris was awesome. He was on time, and got right to work. He explained to us everything he was going to do to service our ancient in-floor furnace, and asked us which thermostat we wanted him to install (ours was broken). He thoroughly explained everything we wanted to know about furnaces (we just moved into a house with a very old one, and had no experience). He installed the thermostat and proceeded to vacuum out every crevice of the furnace space. He showed us how to remove the box in the future in order to do cleaning ourselves. He stayed for a few minutes after he finished the job to answer any questions we had, and gave me the Angie's List discount even though I could not print out the online coupon. I would definitely use Atlas in the future.

was not happy with the call that i received from them, seemed very unprofessional. Got a feeling that they did not care about my business. They also charge a sur charge if you are located in San Francisco regardless of were you live; regular price $90, SF price $125. They would have require two separate appointments; one for doing repairs and the 2nd for giving me a quote on additional services. Was not gonna stay home twice form them.

Since this was an extensive project, there were several major phases to the work which were estimated to take eight working days. The bulk of the work was completed within the estimated time but several issues arose that lengthened the time required to satisfactorily complete the project and complete the necessary permits. The first difficulty arose when the under-house fans were positioned incorrectly. The installer had to return to correct this misplacement. The second difficulty arose with the location of the upgraded electrical panel. There was a relatively new city code requirement that mandated a minimum distance between the panel and the gas meter which the electrician was unaware of. In order to complete the permit, the panel had to be moved which required another complete electrical shutdown and about eight hours extra work. When the work was finished, we were quite pleased with the overall installation. One frustrating aspect of our interactions with Atlas personnel was the lack of timely communication about the status of the project. For example, the Atlas representative who prepared the initial bid and claimed to be the project manager disappeared a few days after the project started. Subsequent attempts to reach him by phone were unsuccessful so we had to contact the Atlas main office directly. We were then given the contact information for the person who did become the responsible manager for the project. Our interactions with this manager were extremely professional and courteous. For example, the reason the under-house fans were misplaced was due to an apparent miscommunication between the original manager and the second manager. When apprised of the misplacement, the second manager immediately agreed to correct the situation despite the evident difficulty in working around the newly installed ducts. We greatly appreciated his attention to customer satisfaction. The individual workers were very conscious of cleanliness, clearing the extensive amount of debris without leaving any mess each day. There was no damage to the wooden floors or rugs. Finally, we would like to comment about the project price. We had two comparably priced bids for this work with the Atlas bid being slightly higher. We selected Atlas since we were impressed by the overall professionalism of the representative who prepared the bid. Additionally, Atlas was willing to bundle the furnace and duct replacement with the electrical panel upgrade and under-house fan installation.

Our attic furnace starting having problems where it would only work when the air-filter in the cold-air return was removed. This was due to the furnace over-heating and its safety systems shutting itself down. We had another furnace company come in and not be able to fix it. We then called Atlas Heating & AC to see if they would have better luck. They came within a couple of days when we called and arrived at our house punctually. After about 45 minutes of investigation the technician discovered that the gas valve pressue was set too high. He adjusted the valve to a lower pressure and this completely solved the problem.

Notified me of time for a tune-up, made an appointment, service man came on time, was courteous, skillful, informative and efficient. Showed good judgment, was friendly and well-mannered and thorough, so far as I could tell.

Work was great. The technician did a great job, on time, on budget and helped shore up the thermostat wires.

When I joined Angie's List, I went through them. There were several who were recommended. I called a couple of neighbors and one of them had used Atlas. My house is 2200 sq feet. The young man that was sent out was really exceptional. He was really good. He was a good worker, polite and very clean. They were a little bit slow in finishing up, but it was understandable because I had some roof work to be done. They came after that and finished the work. I never compared the price, but I was ready to pay that much because the quality was good. The price was a little high. I had to wait for them to return my call.

We discovered water leaking from our furnace across the basement floor. After reading the reviews on Angie's List we selected Atlas Heating and Air Conditioning and scheduled an appointment. Scheduling the appointment was easy - they answered the phone and were responsive. The gentleman who came was punctual, professional and knowledgeable. It turns out that the prior company who installed (and subsequently inspected) the furnace incorrectly hooked up the wiring between the water pump and the electrical supply - scary! Atlas gave me an estimate, replaced the broken water pump on the spot (he had the right type with him), fixed the wiring and installation problem, and serviced the furnace all in a single, timely visit. We haven't had any issues since.

It went well.

i sent to e-mail to Altas Heating on Jan 7th, 2013, explaining the work we need doing (replacing leaky, un-insulated and unbalanced ductwork) in our home and requesting a quote for total system replacement. I received a reply from Ms Lisa Tuck of Atlas Heating promising to call me (she never did). Later, I left a VM on her office number at Atlas, asking her to call me - again, she never did. Then late last night I received an e-mail from her. it's clear from this that she does not recall our prior e-mails (4, sent over two days). She also referred to me using an incorrect last name. I did send her a copy of our prior e-mails, but based upon her inability to recall them, and the fact that she never (as promised and requested) returned my calls, I replied that I was no longer interested, now, or in the future, in doing business with her company. Clearly, this is the busy season for HVAC companies, and it's possible that my experience is unique. But I expect common business courtesy from any company - especially those on Angie's list - that I contact. The fact that I did not receive this has very negatively biased my impression of Atlas Heating's "customer service".

If it' busy season and your furnace goes out, don't expect to have someone come quickly to give you an estimate. But for repairs, they're tops.

Technician came early (after phone to check it was OK), was very pleasant, thorough. Only complaint is that he suggested I would have to replace the sensor in the furnace sooner rather than later, but he did not have one in the truck. Seems like such a common item should be available when doing a furnace check-up.

Plenty of salesmanship to go around at the outset, though the sales person wasn't always where he said he would be. Unimpressed with the Asbestos sub-contractors but they got the work done quickly and cleaned up well enough - I couldn't observe their work but I saw no evidence of "negative air pressure." Atlas people were very professional. Kevin did the duct installation - he was punctual and personable, and did some good-looking ductwork.

They are great. We have used them for years. They are reliable and reasonable. I have no complaints. It was a better deal to do the contract.

They did great work. They did very good work, with minimum interruption. They were very knowledgeable about air conditioning systems. The condenser coil had been destroyed. They gave me options on which ways to go and knowledgeable suggestions on which way I should go. I was very pleased with their service.

They were quick and clean. They explained everything in the interview. They gave a perfect explanation. They did everything they said they would do and when they said they would do it. They were wonderful. There was a professionalism that I felt merited the extra cost.

They have been working for me for over 45 years. We are very satisfied with how they do the work. They come every year to clean out the system. They show up exactly on time. They are very professional in how they do the work and carry themselves.

They do a good job every time. They are reliable.

Service was good, but very expensive. Technician showed up within promised time window. He was friendly, courteous, hard-working and persevering. He cleared out the bird's nests blocking the operation of my two direct vent wall heaters. He lit the pilot lights, checked the valves and confirmed proper operation. This technician suggested covering the vents with a mesh to keep the birds out but told me that this was not a service that they would provide. Angie's list indicated that estimates were free. I was however charged a “diagnostic fee” of $89. I was also charged a $136 flu cleaning fee for each of the two vents. No parts were replaced. The total came to $361. This amounted to an astonishing $240 an hour for the 90 min. service call.

They came out and provided service. They were professional. Regarding the price it depends on the service that they do.
