As first time homeowners, we thought we'd save some money by painting the place ourselves. After dropping 800 bucks at the paint store and spending several hours wrestling with tape and edging tools, we had only gotten one room partially done and my husband's arms felt like they were going to fall off (ceilings are HARD!). We realized it was going to take us forever and it would look horrible, unless we got some help. We also needed it to be done fast, since the floor was scheduled to be refinished in a few days and the floor guys said we needed to be out of the house for several days while they worked. So...we faced reality and hopped on Angie's list. I called someone else first (just based on number of reviews), but they weren't able to help me soon enough. Then I called Mark. Despite the fact that I woke him up on a Sunday morning, he was gracious and able to meet us right away. He walked us through the house and asked all sorts of detailed questions so that he could know exactly what we wanted. He gave us a quote of $850 to get it all done and said it would take a day or two. He knew we were in a jam and he said he'd make it work for us. Two days later, he let us know that it was going to take a half a day longer than we thought, because the trim needed one more coat than they had anticipated and the extra labor would cost $100 more. We said go ahead and we met him after work the next day to walk through the place with him. They did such an excellent job! They got every detail right and everything looks crisp and clean. They even did inside the closets, and it looks fantastic! Mark is a great guy who will really go out of his way to help you out. He is friendly and knowledgeable and does great work. I would trust him to do any paint job I needed and will be calling him as soon as we have enough saved for an exterior paint.

Mark was the best! He is an early bird and that worked great for us because he was done in the afternoon. It took him two days to finish all the work and it turned out great. We felt very comfortable with him in our home; barely knew he was there. I would highly recommend him and will use him in the future. Thanks, Mark.

He did an excellent job! He was very efficient. It really went well because he was the only one on the job. There was no mess! It was beautiful.

Everything went fine. You can set your clock by Mark's promised arrival time in the morning! He did the work on schedule and was open to feedback/changes along the way. After everything inside was completed, we did a "walk-through" together to go over any fine details we wanted adjusted. Mark makes it very easy and comfortable to be a bit picky!

Excellent - professional, punctual, reliable, very careful about covering our furniture. When he left each day, he did a great job of cleaning up any mess that was left from his work. The beams look great! (We received double the estimate from another one of Angie's List painters to have this work done.)

Mark is great! Very honest hardworking guy. I love the fact that he does all his own work. He came out and gave a great estimate bid on New year's Day. He was able to come back later that week to do the actual work.

Mr. McCleary did a very nice job on all aspects of our painting. He arrived promptly each morning and was very neat. We chose several colors, and they were all well done, including the transitions between them. One wall in the living room had wallpaper that needed removed and the wall resurfaced. That was well done. He did a real nice job refinishing the front door. The other painter we got an estimate from only wanted to paint it. We were pleasantly surprised by how good the door looked when he was finished, because the door was kind of old to start with. He did a much nicer job than the painters the previous owner had hired. He also did a nice job on the exterior painting. The paint was peeling badly, and he cleaned/scraped and repainted it. We would definitely hire him again when we need something painted.

Even though I indicated in my phone message to Mark that I had a relatively small job, he responded promptly. He was 3 of 5 painters that I called... Leaving similar messages ...that did respond. I wanted to change the wall from existing very light green to a deep red/wine. I wanted the door to match. And I wanted the ceiling within same spectrum, put much, much lighter. Mark indicated in his first visit that it would take several coats. He planned 2 visits, allowing a day between for overnight drying. Mark was timely and accomplished what we agreed. However, even though I had the same color mixed for the interior and exterior paints, the finished door and the kitchen wall never really matched. And I did not like the comparison colors. I finally chose another color red for the entry door. Mark came back the third day and applied the new color to the door. I am totally pleased with Mark's work and the final results.

Our home had not been painted in at least ten years. There were many places to be patched and sanded during the prep work. Mark did an excellent job. He kept to his schedule and communicated with us daily. There was rarely any clean-up after he left. All materials were stored in our garage, out of the way. We used about ten different colors, and the results are terrific. Mark advised us to change paint sources due to quality concerns, and the shades matched exactly. He provided sample quarts and paint-out sheets before work began. We are very pleased with his work.

Mark did an excellent job. He came promptly to give an estimate, made time for me in his schedule (I was in a hurry because of an upcoming grad party), arrived promptly early in the morning and stayed until the job was completed. He worked quietly and efficiently and cleaned up completely when done. Several friends who came to view the work complimented him on the great job. I had had one other painter bid on the project, and that bid was $500 over Mark's bid. I decided to try Mark based upon the positive reviews that he got on Angie's list, and I'm glad I did. I plan to bring him back in the Fall to do some more.

Mark worked very quickly, completing the job in less than two days. He arrived very early in the morning and worked through most of the first day, then completed the job the next morning. We were not living in the house at the time which likely made things easier, but he worked very quickly in any case. The job went very smoothly, and we plan to use him for future paint jobs as well.

The work was completed within two and a half days, completely to my satisfaction. He is extremely neat(no mess anywhere), efficient and his price very reasonable. I would definitely, hire him again.

Mark returned our call quickly and we were able to communicate over email which is convenient. He started at 7 a.m and was very punctual. He is very clean, no splatters, mess. He is also very quiet. He uses headphones rather than have a radio blaring. Mark was flexible with work times and worked the weekend so that we were able to meet our deadline. All in all we are very happy with Mark s work.

Mark did a great job with the cabinet. He showed up on time for both the estimate and the job, went right to work and got everything done as he said he would. He primed and painted the cabinets and also the light fixture and base boards. I'll be hiring Mark again to paint the baseboard in other parts of the house and would recommend him to my friends.

If we could rate A+, we would! We had 4 estimates and Mark was, by far, the lowest. Because we are on a tight budget, we chose him and hoped it wasn't a case of "you get what you pay for." Happy to say that was not the case. On both the estimate and paint days, Mark was punctual. He clearly communicated what he would do and the full price. When we told him that we would buy the paint at Kelly-Moore, he let us use his contractor's discount. Given the lousy cutting job of our last painter, we were concerned with the same thing happening where the walls meet the ceiling and wood trim. Additionally, we left up heavy drapery hardware, as it was too hard to remove all of it. Mark cut the 2 colors EXPERTLY and flawlessly. There is no wall paint color on the different colored ceiling edge, nor the window woodwork. Also, there is not one spot of paint on any of the drapery hardware we left up. We will hire him again for other rooms and recommend him without reservation.

I went thru 3 painters before I found Mark, he was the only one who did what he said he would do on time and at the price he quoted. The only time the price changed is when I made changes and he had to rework what he had already done and even then he never griped about it, he just did it. Mark is the only painter I will ever use on my company jobs and in my home. As a contractor myself, I know a lot of tradesmen and they all say what you want to hear, "yea I'll do it, I'll take care of you, I'll hook you up". Then when you see the finished job, it's rotten. Mark was the only one who cared about the end product as he told me; my name is on this and I'll do it like it's my own home. Every day he left my home clean, as I said he is the only painter I will ever use or refer.
