Description of Work: Mike responded to my request almost immediately. We scheduled an appointment to meet and he gave us a quote to install a new door. He said he could also order the door for us. We thought things were going to go well. Then...We didn’t hear from him for several weeks. I sent him a text asking for an update. He said he would check on the order. The door was not ready. Several more weeks passed and we still didn’t hear from him. I sent him another text asking for an update. He said he would call me when he got home. He then told me the door salesman at Ganahl quit and took his paperwork with him and the door did not get ordered. He said he sent me an email with the door quotes but it was sent to the wrong email address. He re-sent the quote today for me to look at. When I asked him what his solution was to this problem he said that I should go ahead and use another contractor. All the info regarding the door is on that email he sent me. Why couldn’t he have ordered the door from another salesman? Why did he not want to install our door? We’ve waited over a month to find out we aren’t getting our door installed. Now we have to start all over again. We are extremely disappointed. We thought Angie’s List would provide us with reliable referrals. That has not been the case with Bates Construction.

 + -1 moreMichael was communicated well and often to confirm the work and the date and time of when the work was to be completed. He arrived early and replaced the door and hardware without incident. He did need to replace the door casing as well since it was old (it's been there since the house was built in 1971) so this was understandable. It ended up costing a little more than originally bid but the cost increase was reasonable given the additional work Michael had to do. The door was hung perfectly and is solid and water tight. Great job. We would hire him again when needed.

You can tell that he's been doing this line of work for a long time, is an old-fashioned guy who is no nonsense and gets the job done efficiently, & charges very reasonable prices. He had to do some tweaks but door closes tight. He is very polite. Replacing the front door is no easy task.

I asked him questions, probably too many, about his ability to perform the work I needed done. He was always professional with his advice, even suggested some ideas that I had not thought of. He completed our hardwood floors in the time frame that he gave us. His prices were the best. We had a few other bids, but chose MIKE because of his work ethic. My wife and I are completely overwhelmed with our new look in our living room and dining room. The hardwood floors that he installed for us in our house make it a more comfortable and beautiful home. He completed the work in a timely manner, and I am ready to hire him again. I would trust him with my Home, and so should you.
