THE SPRINKLER TECH

We got off to a rocky start the first time when there seemed to be a scheduling miscommunication but that was resolved. Just be aware of this and know you might need to follow up. That said, we have been very happy with Carlos and his crew. They do a good job for a reasonable price. We have a big yard with a lot sprinklers, and I am glad we found The Sprinkler Tech.

I left a message with the answering service and a day or two later received a response from a skilled office manager. I made an appointment with Robert to come and assess the required work and to give me an estimate. He arrived within the 8-10 AM window as expected. Robert was highly pofessional and polite. We agreed that one badly leaking valve needed replacement with a metal version and the entire 7-station system needed "tuning." He also noted several heads that might require replacement. I also asked that parts of the system be disconnected in order to save water. His estimate was $875. We made an appointment for workers to come about a week and a half later. The crew of two was to arrive before 8 AM, but by 9:15 no one was here, so I called the office. They arrived at 10:15 when I had a medical appointment, so I did not have a chance to walk carefully through the system with the workers before leaving. I returned at 11:45 and the crew was gone. When the automatic system went on two days later, I saw that there were still several problems that had not been addressed as expected for the relatively high $875. I called the office manager who put me in touch with Robert. He set up an appointment for the crew to return on the following Monday morning. They arrived promptly at 8 and were also very professional. This time, I walked through the entire system with the repairmen, and they radjusted several stations, replaced 4 heads and completely dug out and repositioned one line (about 2 feet long). The system seems to be working well with minimal runoff on the pavement. I guess my lesson was to be much more specific both with the person who is making an estimate and with those who are actually performing the work. I am considering having Sprinkler Tech replace part of my system with soaker hoses.

Everything went smoothly & perfectly. The work quality was superb.

Carlos and his team were good hard workers and a good overall experience. I would and will refer them.

It is difficult to repair a leak in an underground sprinkler system but Sprinkler Tech men persevered and used intelligent approaches often accompanied by the Head of the company,Carlos. Carlos is a totally nice, dependable, fair, person and he has solved many of our sprinkler issues. I highly recommend him and his company.

Update: Unfortunately the way the company merged our different valves has made us overwater certain beds and underwater portions of the lawn. I am disappointed with the way they re-worked our sprinklers. Initial review: We are having our patio enlarged so we're removing about 400 square feet of lawn, which required us having sprinklers removed before the concrete contractor got underway. I had a nice meeting with Carlos (he was about 15 minutes late for his 2 hour window) and appreciated his suggestion to not solely remove the sprinklers but to move some of them so the turf that will remain is better cared for. He gave me the quote verbally and also said his office would email the quote/set up a time to do the work. I didn't hear anything for a couple of days so I phoned, left a message and was able to get the work slated for the Friday before our Monday concrete install began. The crew was due to arrive between 10 to 11 am but did not show up until 415 pm (I did phone around 1115 and was told there was an emergency with another client so they would be a bit late). I did not receive a call and actually phoned the office a couple of times that day to find out if I had been mistaken about the time, etc. The one thing I want to stress is that everyone, Carlos, Tanya and the crew were very nice people but at the same time it felt like I was chasing them which is an odd position for a customer to be in. When the crew did come they were very thorough, did a lot of extra work in the yard and even replaced/rerouted heads around the yard. They said there were two other heads that were just dripping water for no good reason and if they'd had more time they would have capped those off. I felt they were doing me a favor by working on the other area of my yard so I didn't mention that they were out of time because they were over 5 hours late. Once the work was completed I thanked them and chalked the whole experience up to the office being very busy (which is likely the case with so many positive Angie's List reviews). Come Sunday, I notice that they left a sprinkler installed in the area to be dug up/poured so I phoned the office and left a message, they weren't able to come Monday to remove that sprinkler so we pushed the concrete work start date back one day til Tuesday. Did they do good work? Overall, yes. Were they nice people? Yes. The problem was the lack of punctuality and thoroughness.

It didn't. I never received a call back.

The sprinkler Tech was very responsive and professional. They were able to work around my schedule, which was helpful. They did a great job fixing our sprinklers and replacing a value. I was happy with the communication from the office as well as the workers who came out. My only concern was the price - I felt it was kind of expensive for the work that was performed. However, I do believe the work was done correctly and to my standards and despite the price, I would recommend the Sprinkler Tech.

I had a good experience with The Sprinkler Tech. They did a great job and I had no problems with scheduling the work. I would definitely hire them again.

These 2 hard working guys checked each sprinkler head making sure the plants, lawn were being watered and not the pavement, changed a leaky pipe, installed a water pressure regulator, repaired a pipe that had gotten loose because of the roots of the plant, tightened up a leaky pipe and checked the timer to make sure each station was working. They were pleasant and professional, around 4 l/2 hours.

The repair of the valve was completed to my satisfaction. And cost was reasonable. However, the problem was with punctuality. I called on New Year's Eve and arranged for Carlos to come by between 10am and 12 noon on Jan. 2nd. On Jan. 2nd, I called Carlos at 12:10 to inquire about his coming by. He seemed to have forgotten about the appointment. I was asked with whom I had spoken to set up the appointment. He did arrive around 1pm and completed the work within 20 minutes. He apologized for "being late."

I initially called on November 15. The person who answered the phone was very nice and we arranged for Carlos to come to the house on November 16 between 9-10 a.m. Then I got a call back, saying they wanted to change the time, and I responded by saying I couldn't do it at the new time. No one called back. That was the first small hitch. Carlos showed up anyway and I had already left the house, believing he wasn't coming. I got an estimate promptly and agreed to go forward, but Carlos was so busy we had to schedule it about 3 weeks into the future. That was no big deal for me, but if you want something done quickly you need to make that clear to them when you first call, so they're aware of that. When they arrived to do the job, Carlos wasn't there, but the two guys who showed up were polite and seemed to know what they were doing. Again, there was one hitch and I'm still not sure it's fixed, but haven't had time to try to figure it out. One of the main reasons I called was because one area of my yard got so wet that it killed four honeysuckle plants. Before the guys left I tried to ask someone if they had accommodated that, but although after a few tries he seemed to understand what I was saying, I'm fairly certain they did not accommodate that, because when the sprinklers go on it gets just as wet there as it did before. Again, small glitch, but when Carlos did come to see the job (which he did), I should have asked him. Had I thought of it, I would have. They did a good job, but I think we both could have communicated better.

We were very satisfied. It was very good. We would use them again and we would recommend them. They answered our calls promptly. They came right out and gave us an estimate. They told us exactly what was wrong and took care of it promptly. I couldn’t find any problems.

We hired him way before becoming members of Angie's List, but wanted to fly by to say a good word... Carlos and his team are fabulous! Talk about someone that knows their stuff, he surely does. With all the blunder experiences we've had with contractors, etc., this was one FABULOUS experience. We have an old house and are making repairs, restorations and improvements when and where we can and when we do have the money for something, we want it done right the first time (and rarely has that been the case). He and his worker, Emilio, were so thorough and efficient. Cannot say enough fabulous things about them... I've found that even reading glowing reviews here on Angie's List, you can still get a clunker or two. With this one, however, you can take pride knowing when you make the call, you WILL be getting what you pay for. Carlos is like the mad scientist of sprinkler systems, he really knows his stuff and brings it in a fantastic manner. Our front lawn is very happy and we're very happy to not have to set up the portable sprinklers! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA++++++++++++++

Great. Was punctual, did the work quickly, cleaned up and brought to my attention other issues and explained to me. He came back out a few days ago to fix a problem that took only 5 minutes to fix. I would use them again.

Ervin arrived on time, did the job quickly, and provided us with a very complete audit of our sprinkler system. We have quite a bit of work to do, but the time he took to provide so much detail makes us feel good about moving forward.

They were great! Professional, punctual, friendly and did quality work.

These guys are great; I really appreciated their expertise and they were pleasant to have around. Would definitely use them again!

The sprinklers in my front yard stopped working a few weeks ago and my grass was dying (saddest lawn on the block!) I realized that the sprinklers worked when opened manually but that they weren't communicating with the control unit in the back. I called Robert Garcia-- he was professional and friendly and set up a time to come out and check out the system. He came on time, assessed the problem, and then went to work immediately to fix it. He finished pretty quickly and at a VERY reasonable cost (I had called another place and they wanted more than double). I'll definitely be using him again for any similar issues that arise!

Carlos came by to look at my yard to collect information needed for him to prepare a bid. I got the bid by email and gave my approval to start the job. Since my wife wanted me on site the entire time the work was being done, we picked a start date about three weeks out (June 10). The original estimate was that the job would take three or four days. I got a call the week before June 10 telling me that the work would now start on Tuesday, June 11. Since I expected them to finish by Friday, that did not present a problem. I got a call on Monday, June 10, telling me that the workers would finish up their current job and arrive at my house between 10 AM and Noon on Tuesday. Carlos and the workers did not actually arrive until late afternoon. Carlos and his foreman walked around the property discussing where to put the valves and sprinkler zones. During the walk around, we determined that the pressure regulator for my house had failed. The water pressure at the curb and all around the house was 150 PSI. I let Carlos know that I had a replacement regulator for the house. Carlos and his foreman, then took 15 minutes and installed it for me. The new regulator lowered the pressure to 50 PSI around the house. Carlos indicated that the sprinklers would work better if a second "high range" pressure regulator was installed. I approved the modification and told him to add it to the bill. Other than replacing the pressure regulator for the house, very little work got done on Tuesday. The foreman and his helper showed up on Wednesday and began digging. The supplies needed were delivered around 10 AM on Wednesday. The foreman inventoried the supplies and placed them in my back yard. The two workers (the foreman and his helper) spent Wednesday, Thursday and Friday digging up the front and side yards, laying the pipe and then putting the dirt back on top. By the end of day Friday, the front and side yards were mostly complete but not connected to the timer. Very little work had been done in the back yard. On Friday, the foreman indicated that they might return on Saturday to finish up the job. He was going to confer with Carlos to determine when they would finish. No one came to work on Saturday, June 15 or on Monday, June 17. I called the office number and Carlos' cell phone and left messages on Monday afternoon. I never got any calls returned. The foreman and his helper did show up on Tuesday and went to work on the back yard. By the end of the day on Tuesday, they had finished up the entire job. All of the watering stations were hooked up to the timer and adjustments had been to the individual sprinkler heads to cover all the areas and minimize over spray. One of the last things they did was tamp down the grass and dirt where new pipes had been laid. It brought the lawn back to level which I was pleased to see. I just need to let the grass grow back. I am very pleased with the work. It did take longer than I expected but all worked out in the end.

He was very nice, and in a hurry. He quickly ran around the backyard only, looked at the trouble area and said "oh that might cost you $400. The office will call you to schedule an appointment". He didn't have time to look at the front yard. Also, he advised me that he is too busy to do lighting at this time. To date, July 1, no one has called me to schedule a service call. I ended up calling a plumber who took care of the problem. Very disappointed with this "A" rated contractor.

The receptionist Tanya is EXCEPTIONAL!! She was extremely polite, helpful and professional. The owner Carlos was wonderful. He was able to diagnose my problem within minutes. He then checked my system, showed me operating techniques and did not try to upsell me. Carlos was able to send a repair crew out the same day. The Sprinkler Tech company represents what customer service is all about. I am so grateful, I highly recommend this company.

They designate a time that would work for both parties and they arrived as they said, but at an hour later than the agreed time. They indicated beforehand that they had another job in the area and the target time would have to be somewhat flexible. That was fine as my actual presence wasn't even required, other than to let them onto the property. Two crew members did eventually show up like they said and they swiftly and cleanly installed all the goodies. The price was as set in the bid. After the completing the two + hour job, they notably didn't hang around and insist on payment on the spot. They showed off the new installation, the operation of the device, and left when I ran out of questions. Solid folks. They don't mess around. I sent in a check the next day.
