Duke is great! Went through everything in a diligent manner to help me understand everything that would be done. I knew the basics, but he broke everything down in steps for me, very helpful. The servicemen that did the actual physical work, Jesus - punctual and very professional! I felt taken care of!

My A/C unit stopped working. It was a heat wave, so I wanted it fixed as soon as possible. Called on a saturday morning. He was here in 30 minutes. He immediately identified the problem (blown fuse), and it was fixed about 30 minute to an hour later. The hourly rate was higher for the weekend, but since job was short, it didn't make that much difference to the bottom line.

Duke was fantastic. I asked him to come out for a service call because our AC was no longer blowing cold air. He hooked up some equipment that measured the refrigerant in the system and immediately saw it was zero. And then he showed me how he measured it and explained everything. I could really trust Duke. He was really honest. The condenser had a leak and after ten years and previous owners had rusted through. We agreed to a new condenser and he put one in a couple days later. It was $2,250 for the whole installation and he was done in two hours. It feels great now. Duke was over a thousand dollars cheaper than two other quotes I got to replace the condenser. Combine that with his honesty and I can highly recommend him in the future. Please give this guy business.

On-time, professional, left house clean. Equally important, very honest. Duke and his crew (Jesus, Juan) did an outstanding job and I will definitely use them again. Duke saved me several thousand dollars by suggesting repairs instead of a totally new A/C and furnace system which a large competitor told me was "necessary".

It took 5 days and went very well. Jesus and Juan were hard workers and nice to have around. When Duke initially evaluated the house, he pointed out some reasons the old furnace system was inadequate and corrected these problems so the house now heats quietly and evenly, which is a nice change. 2 of the air returns were redone and an additional one added to improve circulation. The associated ducts in the attic were upsized which also helped. All the old crawl space duct work was replaced with a modern version and the associated register covers replaced..

Duke is very honest and forthcoming. He does a fantastic job. I have also used for my other properties. I will continue to keep using him for my heating and a/c needs. I ended up having him repair my a/c and he did then applied the inspection fee to the final amount. Duke is always on time, very professional and courteous. They always do a really good. I would highly recommend him to other members.

They were here on time, finished the job quiickly, were very polite and helpful. After several bids they were the most reasonable. I don't always go for the cheapest but they gave me a very good itemized estimate on what the job would entail and cost.

Discussed with Duke the various options for buying and installing a new furnace vs. fixing the old one. For our specific circumstances we decided fixing the old furnace would be the best option. Duke was very helpful in making this decision and provided a lot of information about the pro's and con's of both options. No pressure either way, just good information to make the right decision.

I got estimates for installing a new furnace from two companies on Angieslist. Their estimates were very similar but I decided to go with Duke because I felt it was easier to deal with him. It was a good decision. My daughter works two jobs so her time is limited. I am retired but live almost an hour away. Duke was wonderful about scheduling so that my trips to her condo were limited and her time available time was maximized. The furnace was installed on a day she could be there by Juan and Jesus. After the installation they found a problem with a ceiling duct but instead of scheduling another appointment, they went to get the materials and fixed it that day. A required test and inspection by the city was set up based on our schedules. Duke and his technicians were pleasant, easy to work with, cleaned up after themselves and got the job done in a minimum amount of time.

Emergency Service call on Sunday. Duke arrived on time, reviewed the system and quickly found the problem, a burned out capacitor. He replaced that and fixed a few other issues while inside the furnace. Quick, prompt and efficient. Inside half an hour we have a functioning furnace. Thank you Duke.

We actually called this company out on the previous Sunday. We were getting small gas explosions whenever the furnace turned on. We first called out PG&E, and their field-service person red-tagged the furnace and said that we would have to call out a professional service to deal with the repairs. The company owner came out promptly on Sunday and inspected our furnace, and gave us an estimate of about $500 to repair it; he clearly and thoroughly described what the issues were and what needed to be replaced. However, the furnace was over 40 years old, and he suggested that I consider replacing rather than dumping that much into interim repairs. His comments seemed reasonable to me, so I agreed with him and asked for an estimate for the work, which was $2600 for everything involved. Once I heard that, I was *very* pleased, because when we previously got a quote to replace it, the other company (no longer recall who) had wanted over $4000!!! Anyway, his workers came out yesterday, arriving a few minutes before the 0800 appointment, got immediately to work, and had the entire job done in 5 hours. They did immaculate work, didn't mind me watching over their shoulders as they worked, and I am quite pleased with all of their work. We also love the new furnace!!! We never realized before, how weak the old blower was; the house heats up *amazingly* fast now, and it has an electronic ignition, so we don't need to worry about pilot lights any more. The reason I'm mentioning the equipment is to communicate that they clearly choose good-quality equipment to install. Highly recommended!

The tech was at the home for a half hour. He was able to solve the issue, but he priced the parts out at nearly double what they should have been priced at.

Both Duke and Jesus were on time and professional. Everything went smoothly as planned. I would not hesitate to recommend Duke's Heating to anyone.

"Duke"arrived at the work address as scheduled. Inspected and immediately found the problem; fixed the problem, tested the unit to make sure it worked properly. Done! Very knowledgeable and experienced. We will definitely call Dukes Heating & A/C again. Thank you Duke for a job well done.

Our HVAC unit wasn't working and was recently repaired by another shop. After a couple of weeks, it stopped working again. The other repair shop couldn't figure out what was wrong...after replacing the board and fuses. They claimed the unit was old and we needed an electrician to fix the electrical problem. The appointment with Duke started off poorly...he forgot about the appointment. After calling to ask where he was, he made it over in 45 mins. We wanted Duke to give us an estimate to replace the Heater and A/C unit. He took measurements and drafted up an estimate to replace the HVAC, roughly $4500. Then he asked what was wrong with the unit. Out of curiosity, he looked at the wiring and replaced the fuse. After, the fuse blew out a number of time, he was able to figure out a wire had melted and was causing it to blow the fuse. So after spending $300 with another company to replace the board and having the unit still not work, Duke was able to fix it for $150 (service call). Then told us the unit should be good for another 5-10yrs. He may have lost out on a $4500 job replacing the unit and getting only $150 for a service call, but he's going to be our first call the next time we ever have a repair job and eventually replace the unit. It's great to find honest, competent repair guys like Duke!! Thanks!

Guy was very knowledgable about our old furnace and why it was behaving poorly. He was also on-time and respectful. However, the quote we got from him didn't include some of the major effects that a dual zone system would involve. Because we only had one line to the registers that fed the upstairs and downstairs, a dual zone system would have involved installation of a second line to the register locations - a major impact that would not have been planned for (we found this out later with a second opinion). other than that, the guy was very nice and the pricing seemed reasonable (not factoring in the cost of the not-quoted dual zone changes - i.e. the furnace (single zone) quote only).

All went well..was punctual, put things back the way he found them, was very knowledgable about what I need done and was honest about what I needed and didn't need. I had some other bidders who were trying to charge me over $5000. for a job that costs half that much.

Duke's did not come out to Martinez, CA. They said it was not their service area. Many other companies in the Bay Area and beyond have came out for Heating/AC service. Don't know about this provider and the reason they didn't come out.

Duke cleanded the unit and immediately assessed the problem and replaced the capacitor. Duke was on time, professional and efficient. Will definitely use his again.

The tech was at our home for about an hour. He helped us a lot - told us how to do the mainenance and so forth. We were new homeowners at the time, so it was very informative.

I had used one of the Angie's list deals so I thought it was well worth the money.

The contractor answered his phone early on a Saturday, gave realistic expectations of his schedule and costs, called on his way over and went straight to work. No why can't EVERY contractor do that?! Will definitely use his services again, no question about it.

I had another technician look at my heat pump. He popped off the cover and tried to switch it on at the compressor. It wouldn't turn on. It just made a clicking sound. He said the whole thing needed to be replaced because it seized up. I didn't get an exact estimate but he said it would be $2000-3000. After doing some research online, I found other possible causes for this but most commonly pointing to a bad capacitor. One of the main reasons I picked Duke was because in his reviews people mentioned him replacing the capacitor. I didn't know if this was also my problem but I felt that he would at least investigate that first before claiming it needed to be replaced. First, Duke is nice guy. You feel like he's going to take care of you an be honest about the repairs. Secondly, he is competent. Duke popped open the same panel the other guy did and the first thing he saw was the bad cap. After I asked him to show me how he knew it was bad (the top of it should be flat not domed and bulging BTW), I couldn't believe the other guy didn't notice it. It took Duke half the time find a bad cap than the other guy did to declare it dead. Duke went to his truck, got the part, and flipped the switch. IT WORKS!! That was a huge relief. Next he checked my freon and the rest of the system - vents, air fow, etc. One more thing... this complex has 90 of these units. I've read about other repairmen that have been hired and have said the motor needs to be lubricated every ??? years to keep it from seizing. Duke said the motor is sealed. It can't be lubricated. I don't know if those other people are incompetent, shady, or what. I don't know if Duke is the cheapest out there but you get your money's worth. I'll gladly pay $166 instead of $2000 any day.

Awesome! Duke was right on time, courteous, and my heater is working again!! I hate a chill in the house and Duke fixed it...
