Mold? Asbestos? Lead Paint? Wildfire Smoke? If anyone in your home is having health problems, if you're buying a home, or if your home has suffered unexpected damage, call us for a free phone consultation at 916-275-6653 Fast and honest indoor environmental testing for health hazards. We utilize only the most reliable and proven scientific methods in order to obtain accurate honest information you can trust. Firms that offer "free" testing, really cheap testing, or that do testing & removal, make their money on removal work so they only make money when they "find" a problem. Not us, we only do testing so there is never any conflicts-of-interest. When you hire Air Basics, you will get answers to questions such as: Do we have a health hazard? How bad is it? Where is it coming from, what's the cause? What will it take to fix it? What parts of the home are not affected? How long has it been here? We're on your side and want what's best for your family and your wallet. Hire a true expert for the same cost. Our prices are competitive with companies who utilize "low-skilled technicians". Other indoor health issues we commonly handle include: Mold, asbestos, lead, pesticide residues, bacteria from sewer back-ups, radon gas, wildfire smoke and soot, water quality problems, allergens from pets, bat or rodent infestations, identifying mysterious odors, formaldehyde, odors from new furniture, and identifying exposures that could be contributing to difficult chronic health problems like chronic fatigue syndrome, multi-chemical sensitivity, auto-immune disorders, COPD, allergies and asthma. Our team also includes experts on the various environmental laws and regulations that impact the construction industry in California and Nevada, and we offer our professional regulatory compliance services to property owners, lenders and construction firms. This also includes expert witness services for legal matters involving indoor health hazards.

"Ezra and Charles are very friendly and personable. That is, when they want to take your money. What good is a 12-year warranty if you start ignoring your customers at 2 years. I needed my HVAC replaced. Because the HVAC sits on my roof, I decided to redo the roof too. Ezra and Charles came out and were really friendly so I immediately had a good impression of them. Even though it would’ve been cheaper to go with a roofer and a separate HVAC company, I decided to go with Landmark Construction Crew, aka Landmark Energy Upgrades. I figured it would be a more seamless process for one company to do both. I got this done in December of 2016. The thing with a roof is that you don’t know if it’s a good job or not until it rains so I waited to write a review. Around January 2018 ( a little over a year later ) we got some much needed rain but unfortunately, I had a leak coming from one of my vents. I emailed Ezra and he sent out a roofer. The roofer came, looked at the vent, jumped up on the roof for ten minutes and said he was done. Months later, it rained again, it leaked again, I emailed Ezra again. I decided to take a closer look at the vent and noticed that there was sunlight in the ductwork. I figured sunlight equals gap somewhere. When the roofer came, I told him and he said it’s nothing, probably just a reflection, without even taking a look. Then the roofer tells me that the next time there is a leak, I need to call the HVAC guy because it’s not a roof problem. I couldn’t believe it so I told him that HIS company IS the HVAC guy!! I used one company to do the roof and the HVAC so there is NOBODY else to blame. So, he jumps back on the roof and was done and gone in 10 minutes. About a month goes by and the rain is back and so is my leak. It’s 2019 so it rained a lot this year. Good for California, bad for me. So, I emailed Ezra again. After a few weeks, no reply. So, I email him again with pictures, a few more weeks go by and no reply. So, I call him and he picked up the phone. He sounded surprised to hear from me (probably didn’t recognize my phone number) and I start telling him about the leak. He said he didn’t get my emails but just text him my address and he’ll send somebody. A couple of weeks goes by and nothing. So, I text him again and after weeks and weeks of waiting, no reply. I’ve emailed, called, and texted so, at this point, it’s very obvious he’s avoiding me. If you are looking for a friendly company that is willing to take your hard-earned cash then Landmark is for you. But if you’re looking for a company that is accountable for their work then look elsewhere. I know I am."

Asbestos removal services FAQs

The cost for asbestos removal is between $1,200 and $3,200 for average homeowners. This cost could be as little as $450 or as high as $6,000, depending on the affected area's size, the location of the asbestos, and the type of asbestos you're dealing with.

For example, removing asbestos from attic insulation averages $11 to $25 per square foot. However, removing asbestos from an HVAC unit is more expensive, at around $35 to $55 per square foot.

No, you should not remove asbestos from your home yourself. It is not worth risking your health, or the health of your family.

There are strict laws regarding the demolition, encapsulation, and removal of asbestos. Not only could you face potential violations, but you could be putting yourself and others at risk. If you don't have the proper asbestos removal gear, you could inhale the asbestos fibers, which could lead to lung cancer or mesothelioma.

Since DIY asbestos removal isn’t the best option to save money, there are other steps that you can take to help cut costs when dealing with this project. After speaking with your asbestos removal expert, discuss if encapsulation is an option. If it is, you can save between 15% to 25% on overall project costs over demolition and disposal. In addition, when speaking with your professional, discuss if there are any tax credits available for your removal project. Finally, check with your homeowner’s insurance to see if any removal costs might be covered. However, be aware that this is usually only applicable if the asbestos is due to a covered incident, like a tree falling into your roof.

It can be scary to need asbestos removal from your home—you might be concerned about your family’s health, the overall condition of your house, and what repairs might need to be done. You can ask your asbestos consultant some questions to ensure your project is completed as safely as possible. Some questions to ask include:

  • Do you have the proper credentials for removing and disposing of asbestos?

  • How long will this project take to complete?

  • Have you worked on a project like this before?

  • Do you use new protective gear at each job site?

  • How do you prevent asbestos fibers from being released into the home?

  • How big is the crew you will send?

  • How do you clean up after a project?

The most common sign of asbestos is the age of your home. Asbestos was banned in drywall in 1977, though many products still contained asbestos until the 1980s. Indicators of possible asbestos in your home include:

  • Your home's age, if built before 1980

  • You have a home with vinyl flooring or millboard that was installed between 1952 and 1982

  • Your home has corrugated roofing

  • Your home has walls made from cement sheets

  • Your home has vermiculite insulation
