Paul D. Emrick - Total Home Maintenance/Handyman

Paul was on time, was able to perform duties amongst a frenzy of other trades. We took possession of a new home and had movesr, A/V install working at the same time. He came prepared and performed his job quickly and was able to help my husband with his list. I've already gave his contact info to fellow neighbors. YES we will use him again.

Paul was quick and fixed what I asked him to. After each job he immediately asked what was next. Did not waste time. Would use him again and recommend him to others.

I called him mid afternoon and he came within the hour. He looked over the situation and discussed with me the options. We agreed on what to do and he made the repairs in a very professional manner and in a reasonable amount of time (about 2 hours including going for parts). He remained until he was sure all was working well. He was friendly and easy to talk to and work with. I just moved to the area and have no experience with plumbers or contractors, so I can not say whether his prices are usual or not. He did a very nice job and I am satisfied. Because he is a general contractor and advertises as a handyman, I called him this morning about another matter (window glass replacement) and he came over in less than an hour, because he was on the road in the neighborhood, and gave me advise on what needed to be done. He could not do the work and referred me to a shop that he uses and likes. I will use him in the future, for sure.

I called him when he was in the middle of a job and he asked if he could call back in an hour, hour and a half. He did call back in an hour and said he would arrive in about half an hour. He did. I had removed all the cover plates, etc., and he told me how to finish removing the valve, where to get a replacement and how to install it. He took two homemade cookies as payment for this. I did what he said and it works fine. He was very friendly and knowledgable.

Mr. Emrick was very pleasant to deal with and was able to do exactly what I asked of him. Although the repairs he accomplished at my request were a temporary fix of the damaged deck, I will definitely consider him when the damaged deck requires a more permanent repair. I was impressed with the quality of his work and his professionalism. Mr. Emrick has had years of experience in home repairs and maintenance which I find to be favorably reflected in the work he does.

He helped with some woodwork inside and some outside repairs, Paul was nice and did a good job. I would call him again.

Called several months back and scheduled to meet. While he came by promptly that same afternoon and provided an estimate (in late November), we were unable to have him commit to the job. At the same meeting, he told us the bathroom fixtures we purchased for the job in advance were unnecessary and that we should take them back. He stated he would provide what was needed. As a result, we took back the fixtures (at a loss to us as the store did not give us back the full value of the item.) We called several times over th next few months to schedule the job. Every time we called, he stated that he had a family emergency and could not help us. We called one final time a few days ago and he gave us a totally different family emergency excuse. We believe that he did not want to do the work as the bid he gave us may have been rather low. We definitely WOULD NOT recommend his services.

He was a very nice and pleasant. The quality of the work was very good. He was timely and punctual. When I called, he made time for me that day. I am thinking about hiring him again.

A few months after installation one of the doors bowed and can no longer properly retract. It was obvious that the door was not installed properly. He seemed in a hurry the day he installed it. We obviously are very disappointed. I think he would be fine for a simple job, but nothing complicated.

I had found Mr. Emrick's business card in the park's office where I live. It looked ok, so I thought I would do some more research on Angie's List, since Mr. Emrick's business card had shown he won an award from Angie's List. I checked out all the reviews and decided to possilbily hire him for some work I needed to get done. I have three sets of french doors to be installed in my sun-room, and a new dishwasher to he hooked up. I called Mr. Emrick and asked for a free estimate. He was friendly over the phone and mentioned he had an ongoing project near me and that it wouldn't take nothing to just hop on over an finish my project.(sounded reasurring) We made an appointment and set the time for the estimate. The day came and I was waiting for him to knock on my front door. I was in the back bed room of my home but left the door open and the screen door closed.I had waited and I didn't hear him. After a while, I heard a noise in the house and went to investigate. It sounded as if it came from the sun-room. I went to see what it was and I was somewhat taken back that Mr. Emrick was already inside my home, and was measuring the doors in the sun-room. Mr. Emrick reasurred me with a cocky attitude that it would be an easy procedure, and the fact that he would be near by too. He gave me an estimate with seemed fair and the agreed to the estimate and we shook hands on it. We made a date to sart the project a week later. He never called me which I assume he would, at least comfirm our plans and to proceed the next day. That day came and when it was time for him to be there, he wasn't. So I called him. I got ahold of him though his cell phone while he was driving somewhere. Mr. Emrick seemed totally surprised when I mentioned he had an agreed appointment with me that morning to start the project. Aparrently he couldn't make it, so we rescheduled again, another week later. The week went by, still, no commuication what so ever. So when the time for him to come over and start work came around, he didn't show nor called. Again, I had to call him. I got him on his cell phone. I mentioned who I was and wondered what was going on. Again, Mr. Emrick tried to reschedule with me. At that point, I told him that I was cancelling our agreement and said my goodbye's. I am totally disappointed with Mr. Emrick's lack of professionalism and the way he handled himself in a business manner. I do not recommend him to anyone......

Paul D. Emrick - Total Home Maintenance/Handyman looked at the job and declined to submit a bid. He was real nice, very punctual and pleasant to deal with. Some of the contractors wanted me to pay for their estimate because there's no guarantee that they'll get the job. Paul did not ask for a fee for providing the estimate but after we talked about the job, he said he would submit an estimate then he called and he declined to do the estimate. The estimate that I had with him was pleasant and he was prompt with our appointment. He has clear knowledge of what he was doing, I like his ability to discuss the project and to understand whjat we wanted and replying back with our questions and concerns with the project. The only thing I was unhappy about was, I expected him to submit an estimate but he declined.

We call, he calls back, we turn him loose (we've given him a key - he doesn't need a babysitter). What else could you ask for???

Mr. Emrick was prompt and efficient.. He replaced the door to the electric meter which had fallen off. He cleaned out three light tubes so that the light was better and there were no more dead bugs evident. He fixed the blinds in the bedroom and living room.. (Vertical blinds) He mouse proofed a screen door and removed a broken light bulb from a bathroom fixture which I was unable to handle. He was professional and did an excellent and quick set of repairs. We spoke about several larger jobs and he had several reasonable suggestions for renovating a bathroom and fixing an outside wooden gate. When I am ready to proceed with those larger jobs I will definitely call him. I would give him an A rating all round..

Couldn't tell you - he made an appt, didn't show, made another, didn't show. No phone call, nothing.

Paul arrived punctually at the pre-arranged time. He was very friendly and accommodating. He did exactly what I asked him to do and I was pleased with the quality of work and his attention to detail. Very good value for the fee charged.

I called the number listed which is his cell phone. He answered promptly. I explained what I needed and he said he would need to stop by and take a look. He said he would try and stop by that evening and would call if not as my number was on his cell; however, I did give him my address to have on hand. Waited around that day and all evening but never heard from him again. So I moved on.....

job went well and didn't take too long (important when you have lots of small jobs). i had intended to just repair the beam but paul suggested total replacement and it worked out well.

My mother lives alone in a retirement mobile home park and has not been able to find anyone to do odd jobs around her house. Paul came to her house and was able to help her out by fixing a loose handrail, fixing a drain stopper that had never worked, showing her how to reset her dishwasher which had been stuck for several weeks, moving some furniture out of the way and changing the batteries in her smoke detector. He will be coming back to paint a rusty shed soon. He was very nice to my mother, communicated well, and got everything finished within an hour. I feel much better knowing there is someone who will be able to help her out in the future, as we live several hours away.

Calls were returned promptly. When there was a time delay, a call was received from Paul telling us the situation and when he would be arriving. Worked was performed in a timely and expert manner. We were very satisfied. His hourly rate is fair and below what a plumber would have charged.

I happily found Paul through Angie's List. He came highly recommended for the quality of his work. Paul is very personable and likes to engage you in conversation. He is very knowledgable about a wide variety of home improvement projects. My husband was unavailable to help me prepare our new condo for our transferring college student. Paul was extremely helpful in getting our place move-in ready. He determined for me where the GFI switches were located for each circuit in the condo; installed four dimmer switches; switched out a ceiling fan for a more contemporary model; determined that there was not enough support in the ceiling for placement of a ceiling fan in a secondary bedroom; changed out a diningroom light fixture with two more contemporary lights which required wire rerouting and drywall cutting and patching; installed a new kitchen sink fixture and soap dispenser (thanks Paul!); repaired a dishwasher drainage issue; fixed a leaking refrigerator water filter; made a quick screen door repair (woops); installed new window blinds; helped me determine a TV wall mount I had purchased was not one that would work for my purposes; helped with an IKEA furniture build; and also helped finish up some wall and trim painting. It was enjoyable and entertaining working with Paul over a span of three days. He was able to accomodate my schedule since I am from out-of-town and had only a limited time available in the area to work on the condo. We spent a lot of time chatting and joking while working on our individual projects, and I found that although he charges by the hour, his prices reflected his actual working time. It may have taken a bit more time getting there with all our gabbing, but I thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent working side-by-side with Paul. It made time pass quickly. However, if you need a project done quickly, let Paul know that up front and keep the chatting to a minimum. I won't hesitate to call him for our future home repair or updating projects!

I called Paul to do some work on the house I have just moved into. He told me on the phone what he needed me to get. He arrived promptly and took care of all of the work, plus a few things I added at the last minute. Paul was professional and he worked quickly and effectively.

I have used Paul several times. He is reliable, honest and does a good job. The most recent job I have used him for involved him purchasing a water heater and toilet. Paul then installed them for me and hauled away the old ones. I have used him in the past for interior painting and hanging light fixtures. My brother is about to use him for exterior painting and deck repairs.
