R&S Heating and Sheet Metal did an excellent job removing and disposing existing rain gutters and replacing them with aluminum fascia style rain gutters. The workers were punctual, courteous, and professional. They left the work site cleaner than when they started! The quality of the work is excellent. For 33 years, I have hired contractors for residential projects at various locations in California. R&S is the best contractor I have hired.

I obtained five estimates for the project. I selected R & S because of a combination of reasonable price and feeling that I would receive quality work based on my impression of Richard Russo, the owner, at the time of estimate walk through. Richard made the estimate and advised me on the various types of furnaces available and possible improvements to the hot air ducting. The job began on time. His lead, who also designed and fabricated the sheet metal work, and two men replacing the ducting were at all time courteous and conducted themselves in a professional manner. This was a large project but completed as promised on the third day. It was a county permitted project, and there were no corrections requested by the county inspector during his inspection. In fact the inspector complimented Richard on the quality of Joe's sheet metal work. I have requested Richard to include me in his annual maintenance program. I would used him again should I require updating the heating system or any other service he offers such as rain gutter installation or other sheet metal work.

I just bought my place in Monterrey about 2 months ago and have been going back and forth fixing it up prior to moving in. When I arrived at my house on Sunday, the heating would not come on. Being new to the area, I went to Angie's list and looked up the best heating repair in the area based on reviews. I called early on Monday, 12/23, and the phone was answered right away. The gentleman said he wouldn't be able to get anyone out until the afternoon, and would call back with a time frame. About 30 minutes later, he called to say his guy would be here between 1:30 and 2pm The guy showed up just after 1:30 and went immediately to check the furnace, saying he hoped it was just a pilot light so it wouldn't cost much. He was very nice. I heard some sounds and vocalizations which led me to think it wasn't going to just be the pilot light. Sure enough, he appeared a few minutes later carrying a filthy, clogged up and burnt fan motor telling me that no one had ever put a filter on the heater and the motor and compartment were full of dirt. He said it had shorted (duh - from the looks of it) and that it sparked when it tried to come on. I was lucky there hadn't been a fire. Uh, yeah. I just bought the place. He told me I would need to replace the motor and make sure to put in a filter. I asked how much - $350 or so and he thought he might have one on the truck. Sure enough. 30 minutes later he had replaced the fan motor, cleaned out the compartment and placed a top of the line filter in the unit, then came and tested the vent farthest from the unit to make sure it got good airflow and heat out of it. (It did!). Cost me a total of $357 and he even petted my little dogs. I would use these guys again and recommend them to anyone who asked!

Took some time to figure what was wrong. Charge $200 for the evaluation. Charge to put in a new one was $300 higher than another company.

Responded promptly to our request for estimate and arranged a visit to inspect house. Provided two written estimates for two different options to fix our gutter issues. Workmen arrived on time, were courteous and professional. Work was completed to our satisfaction and site was cleaned after work was finished.

Our furnace would not go on this morning. After checking reviews on Angie's list, called R&S and a few other Heating companies. R&S's prices were very competitive, and we found out that the other companies charge by the hour starting at the time that they leave their shops. If they needed to return to their shops for a part, they would charge that travel time also. We live out in the country so that would add at least another hour to the charges assuming that they did not have to return to the shop for a part. J&S starts its hourly charges from the time that they arrive at your home and does not charge travel time. We called R&S around noon and their repairman, Bobby, was at our home at 2:00 p.m. The furnace was checked and the problem (a burnt out hot surface ignitor) was discovered and replaced quickly. He checked other parts of the furnace, re-installed a filter that we had put in backward, and checked the temperature in the air flow through the vents to see if the system was operating properly. He explained everything that he was doing while he worked, was very courteous, and seemed to be very knowledgeable. He was in and out in less than an hour. The hot surface ignitor cost $85. We received a 10% Angie's List discount and the total cost was $161.10.

Fast and friendly service. They arrived within an hour after I called, diagnosed the problem, returned to the shop to get the part, and had the furnace repaired before the house got cold. Great job!

Our furnace went on the blitz in mid-January and we called R & S Heating in Pacific Grove CA. Bob came out the next morning at about 8:15 a.m. It took him less than 45 minutes to find the problem...a pressure switch inside the furnace. He replaced it and our heating was restored. That cost us $159. About 2 weeks later, we couldn't get the furnace to set properly with our thermostat, so we called R & S again to see if they could help. The boss came out this time and tested the thermostat and said it was fine. Then he did some searching in the furnace and found that the pressure switch they put in was actually too large, so he ran around town to find a new one that fit, and came back and put it in. He must have spent 2+ hours in all, finding the problem, going around town to get a replacement part, and then putting it in. He said there was no charge, and we were warm and cozy once again. Our furnace is nearly 30 years old and they could have told us we needed a new furnace right from the git-go and we would have believed them. Now, because of their honesty, when our furnace does go out, we will call them for sure.

When my tenant notified me that an old wall heater had blown flame out the bottom (briefly setting the dog on fire), I was sure that I was looking at a hefty bill for a replacement heater. I called R&S and asked if they could come out after 5:00 pm...no problem! Rex appeared right on time, spent a half hour adjusting and testing the heater, and that was that! Friendly, professional, and fun to talk with. I will be calling them the next time I have heating problems.

On the day of the installation, they showed up on time and completed the job in one day including extending our duct system. The installers were great, friendly and professional. We were pleased with the job performed.

Fast, good service, but the price was a bit higher than anticipated.

Great experience. I phoned R&S Heating Monday morning before 10:30am and left a brief message about my need for an estimate to replace what I believed was a bad forced air heating unit (which had been out of commission for over a year and had been looked at by three other HVAC companies, with high estimates and replacement plans). Before I could finish leaving a voicemail I got a call back from Richard, one of the owners, and he said he could have someone out to give me an estimate that afternoon. They were flexible with me on time so I could make it home around my work schedule. Bobby arrived promptly at 2pm and proceeded to hear my story and look at my heater. He immediately told me that the unit was too new to be replaced (9 years old) and began to test it according to his theory and my story. He told me the PC board needed to be replaced and immediately called his office to get prices on parts and gave me the high end manufacturers price and the equally functional Universal PC board price which was nearly 50% cheaper. He told me he could have the part and inspect the ducts the next morning at 8am. Tuesday morning he was there right on time. He fixed everything and went with me from room to room to test airflow and carbon monoxide and found no CO and some vents without flow. He went below the house to check out the state of the vents and brought back pictures to show me sagging ducts and a disconnected duct that he promptly secured. He left the house before 9:30am with the promise that he would return the next morning to secure all ducts and finalize the job. We had full use of the heat over night even though the job wasn't 100% the comfort level was ideal. The next morning he was there promptly at 8am. He got everything done by 9am and even took my credit card over a check due to it being the end of the month. We even got a 5% discount using Angie's List coupon. He got the job done in a couple billable work-hours over parts of three days. He even rounded his billable labor hours down rather than up. He got the job done in less time than I'd planned and didn't drag his feet. Such a great experience! We will definitely use R&S in the future when we need heating or sheet metal work.

Arrived on time. Listened to the problems we were having with the furnace. Explained what steps he wouldtake to correct the problems. Repaired the problems. Tested the furnace. Made a through safety check ofthe furnace and surroundings. Explained the results, cleaned up the area and left.

All representatives of R & S Heating & Sheet Metal arrived promptly as arranged. All work completed as discussed in a timely manner. R & S not only cleaned site up when finished, they also removed all previous gutter material that had been piled nearby by previous owner. We were extremely happy with results and would use R & S Heating in the future and highly recommend to other parties.
