CGS Electric

Our home was built at a time when electricians used aluminum wiring before they discovered that aluminum wiring was dangerous. It's especially dangerous when connecting copper to aluminum, and double especially if you don't know what you're doing when you do it. We bought this house as a flip, and the electrician that the flipper hired to "upgrade" the electrical outlets actually made the whole house more dangerous, and we nearly suffered two electrical fires as a result. To this end, we desperately started our search for a qualified electrician. We tried calling several electricians using referrals from friends, but nobody would either call us back or provide us with a quote. I finally signed up for Angie's list and found CGS Electric. Claudio and Andy showed up to my house as agreed, and proceeded to inspect the house and the wiring. Not only did they say that they would be able to help, but they were able to give me a quote right there on the spot. Furthermore, they said they could get it done that month! After my experience with other electricians, I was dubious, but sure enough, CGS showed up on time as agreed with a clean cut looking crew and ready to work. They wasted very little time and were very accommodating with my wife and 6 week old son as they were still sleeping in the bedroom when they showed up. They were able to work around my family while not wasting any time. Whenever a decision had to be made, they made sure to get my input and gave me all the options available and let me know the best way forward. I never felt railroaded into one course of action, and I always felt that the guys had my best interest (and my family's best interest) at heart. The fans and chandelier were installed on vaulted, open-beam ceilings using wire molding. The wire molding sits on the beam, but the guys painted the molding to match the beams, and the finished look is quite natural and does not look like an afterthought. It was the best solution for the situation, and they made it look easy! After all was said and done, there were very few holes in the walls to patch and they were very clean. The wiring in the house is very old, and as happens in old houses, there was a lot of potential problems that CGS brought to my attention that should be remedied in the near future. They did not try and sell us more services, but they just seemed genuinely concerned and wanted us to be aware of the issues that they found in the attic. This was a two day project, and they showed up at 9am each day and were done by about 4pm every afternoon. They cleaned up after themselves and left everything in working order when they left. I could not imagine having a better experience working with a contractor. My wife is thrilled with the results, and she is even happier that she liked the guys so much AND that they did such a great job! These are great guys, they do great work, and they offer a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend CGS Electric for any electrical work that you might need done at your house. I recently purchased a 1950s era home in Long Beach which needs lots of updating and one area of concern was the electrical. I spoke with a couple electricians who were unreliable and did not call me back promptly. I found CGS Electric on Angies List, Claudio and his foreman came out and did an inspection and suggested upgrading the panel due to have one panel installed on top of another and limits of adding additional circuits. I wanted to add ceiling fans in the house, upgrade a bedroom I am using as an office with better lighting and electrical load capabilities. Claudio suggested LED lighting which uses low amounts of energy but are exceptional lighting. Claudio and I negotiated a price for everything I wanted done and agreed to a start date the following Monday. Claudio and his team showed up on time and worked for 3.5 days to get everything done. Claudio returned the following Wednesday to wait for the building inspector to sign off on on a permit for the upgraded panel, he waited at my house from half the day until the inspector showed up. Overall Claudio and his team did a great job and showed up when they said they would be there. I had a minor problem after the work was done and Claudio came out a took care of it.

It went smoothly and as promised. We would definitely considering rehiring them for future work and highly recommend them to others.

The work was done in an hour and I am happy with the new switches. Without having to ask, he left the defective parts, so maybe I can return them for a refund to SmartHome. Claudio gave me an estimated arrival time and then called later to let me know he was on the way and confirm the arrival time. I appreciate good communication and will definitely use him again for electrical work.

Talked to Claudio about installing an attic fan. He gave me a cost and time estimate and scheduled the install. He was up front in telling me that he was going to send one of his guys - Andy with an assistant. At the appointed time, Andy and apprentice promptly arrived. They were very professional and respectful. They put on those plastic things on their shoes before they came into the house. After installing the attic fan, I suggested they put the override switch wherever it was easy to install - close to some light switches that already existed. Andy suggested that it may be better to put it in a place where the kids cannot play with it. In the end, he installed it in the master closet which as much better, even though it was extra work for him. Andy then proceeded to service one socket which was not grounded properly, and replaced two GFCI sockets. I looked at the work afterward, and everything looked professionally done. The job took a bit longer because they had to cut through some part of the attic to get access to the gable where I wanted the fan installed, but Claudio stuck to our original phone agreement.

Overall, everything went wonderful. I'll definitely, use CGS electic again. Highly recommended. No power outrage problem anymore.

Claudio of CGS Electric provided us with an expert estimate, cost evaluation and description of their services upon his initial visit. He was careful and conscientious about what his company would do to accomplish our request, and suggested a wiring improvement for our garage which was becoming a safety issue. His two technicians, Andy being one, arrived promptly on time, and professionally performed their assignments, and left the areas clean and neat. Not only were they friendly and knowledgeable about fulfilling our needs the overall experience was seamless, as we were able to go about our activities as usual. This is our second positive experience with CGS Electric and would not hesitate to call upon them again and recommend their services.

Andy Peters did a great job for me. Within 1 hour he had everything up and going. I’m very pleased with the work CGS Electrical did for me. They were prompt, friendly, clean guys and called me back within 15 minutes of my call. They had me scheduled for the afternoon, but had a cancellation this morning and were able to get here sooner.

All of the materials were top of the line. I know this because I liked the dimmer switches so much I decided to replace 2 existing switches and they were not cheap! The crew was extremely neat and left the house spotless .I highly recommend them and would rehire them again.

On a Saturday evening, the touch plate lighting system in my house went haywire. When that happened whatever lights were on stayed on and whatever lights were off stayed off. The switches would not work. I went on Angie's list to find an electrician and found CGS Electric. I read up on all the customer reviews and ratings. I was very impressed so I called Claudio the following Monday around 4: p.m. and explained what happened. He was just closing shop and said he will be right over. Within a half hour, he was here. He looked over the system and explained what the problem was. The parts for this system were hard to find and expensive. He was honest enough to say he doesn't work on repairing this system and that it would be better to replace it and gave me an estimate. It would take about two days to complete the job. Claudio was here troubleshooting the system and said that he should charge me for it, but he didn't. I called Claudio and hired him. Last Monday, he brought Erik and Matt. They were very nice young men and very professional. They started work right away and completed the job the following day. They did a great job. My lights work again. I would definitely use them again, which I plan to, and would recommend them to all my friends and family.

A previous person came to look at my issues and wanted to completely replace the wiring in the house at a cost of 3000.00. CGS came out and fixed the issues we had for 400.00. He was very honest and open. We would use him again in a heartbeat.

CGS did an EXCELLENT job for us. We bought a house and had them come in to check for the safety of our home as it was built in 1970. Claudio determined what needed to be done, came back with his crew, and did the job cleanly and in a timely manner. They even found an outlet that was on its way to causing a fire. We had a power outage over Labor Day weekend. Once power was restored, we were using some electrical cleaning equipment and noticed that the outlet being used was suddenly not working. It ended up that part of the house lost power and the rest was OK. After attempting to reset outlets affected and check the breakers, we still had not gotten power back. We had recently joined Angie's List, so we did some research on electricians. We found CGS Electric highly rated and called Claudio out to help us. He tested all of the afffected outlets was able to locate the source of the problem-- old, loose wiring/old outlet. He promptly fixed the problem and power was restored. He also advised us to use our newer outlets for plugging in electrical cleaning equipment. We were happy to have our problem resolved and relieved that it didn't cost hundreds of dollars to fix. Claudio is honest, courteous, and patient. We appreciate the time he took to explain things to us--we learned a lot. We will definitely call him again to help us with our other electrical house projects and refer him to anyone who needs an electrician.
