They were on time for both the estimate and the work. They cleaned up after themselves just as they promised. My trees look so much better!
Description of Work: I have two 25' tall Japanese maple trees. I thought one of them was dying. Traverso sent out an arborist who said it wasn't dying, but it's growth pattern had changed as it got taller. They recommended deep fertilizing the trees and trimming out the old branches.

Traverso employees and ownership were most professional from estimate of the job through cleanup and billing. Traverso's bid was in the ball park with the other estimates, but their reputation was good. References from the Heather Farm people made me feel comfortable with giving them consideration. The certified arborist informed me of all considerations. Once I had the permission of the County Planning Department Traverso put me on their schedule. All the workers were very professional and used all safety precautions to prevent injury to persons and property. They hired the services of a top notch crane company to do the heavy lifting, and in eight hours removed 80 tons of wood. In each case, they let me choose what to keep and what to haul away (logs, chippings, firewood), and where to place the items I wanted to keep. A crew of six or seven kept the wood moving and after each log was put through the shredder someone swept up and removed the scraps. Nothing was dropped on my house or other property, and when they left there was no indication they had been there, except, of course, a missing tree. An outrigger for the heavy crane caused a break in a water pipe next to the garage, which we only discovered when doing final clean up. Traverso personnel did not hesitate to take responsibility for the damage. Six workers helped break up a concrete sidewalk to expose the broken pipe. They called a plumber, who arrive shortly thereafter and fixed the leak. On the second day, a crew arrived promptly with a stump grinder and removed the massive stump. They also removed an old stump that was in the way. A mechanic also came, and inspected the pipe repair before preparing forms and pouring a new slab to replace the sidewalk. The mechanic returned on the third day to remove the forms.

A representative showed up within two days of my phone call to give me an estimate. The work was scheduled within three weeks. The crew was amazing, it wasn't a big job but Traverso sent four guys out. WIth one guy in the tree and another in the cherry picker they made quick work of the repair work and thinning of the branches. The guys on the ground collected what fell than raked the yards to get all the small twigs too. The job didn't take an hour, and that's counting the guys getting 'geared up' and they cleaned up so well you'd wouldn't have known they'd even been there. The tree looks much cleaner and happier, they did a great job!
Description of Work: The Liquid Amber needed some work. The tree is in my front yard and my neighbors had tried to trim it using a friend of theirs, but he wasn't licensed and had little more than a ladder and a chain saw. They had done both me and my tree a dis-service and so while the tree was in need of a trim it also needed to be recut and reshaped in some places too.

The estimator Scott was prompt and knowledgeable. He gave me an estimate on the spot. The tree removal was $200 which I thought was an excellent price as a couple other companies wanted $800 to $1,000. He assured me that the stump and roots would be ground so that I could plant a new tree in the spot adjacent to the old tree. He had no problem with grinding the stump and roots despite the narrow area. Another company wasn't able to do the job because their grinder was too big. The first available day was 6 weeks from the date of the estimate. The crew arrived promptly and everyone was courteous. I was a bit surprised when they allowed large heavy limbs and pieces of trunk drop onto the lawn and the unprotected wooden deck. In the past previous tree companies carefully lowered the heavier pieces with a rope. Some of the cuts left, what I thought were, long stumps about 2 to 4 inches long. I caught most of them and had the crew cut them back closer to the branch collar but missed at least one. They did a nice job pruning the end weight on the 30 ft. to 40 ft. tree. The cost was $1,500. Another company that does work for a local city quoted over $3K to do the job. To remove dead limbs and prune back for building clearance on a 15 to 20 ft tree (all work was done from the ground) the cost was $150. To thin, remove dead wood, and a large lateral limb on a 20- to 30 ft tree the cost was $480. They only did a handful of cuts on this tree, but they had to climb into the tree to do the work. They only ground down the stump. I told the worker who did the grinding that Scott had said the adjacent area would be ground to be sure there were no roots to prevent me from planting a tree next to the old site. The person insisted there were not roots in that area and even took a pick and scraped the surface of the dirt (he did not go any depth but assured me there would be no roots any deeper). When I had another company plant a tree for me at the site in question, they found a 4 inch root in the way. This could have been prevented if they had just ground the adjacent area.
Description of Work: Trim trees for routine pruning maintenance, building clearance; removal of a 15 foot tree and grind stump and roots. I routinely have my trees trimmed as needed. But the last company to prune my 30 to 40 ft tree left heavy growth at the end of the limbs (end weight). So the ends needed to be trimmed to balance the tree properly.

Traverso Tree service had three men working on my who started promptly at 9 am and were finished by 12. They were competent, friendly, courteous , and very knowledgeable. They did an outstanding job!! They started by trimming the redwood tree, while at the same time removing the dying plum tree. After they had finished the redwood and the plum tree, they worked on the the two Pittisporums and in removing the dead tree next to the redwood tree that was leaning into the apartment next door to my house. The oak tree and the Japanese Maples were trimmed next while the limbs that were removed were shredded into mulch. They swept up all the debris from the work and cleaned my driveway and the driveway of the apartment building next door since some of the debris had fallen in that area. I requested that they leave me some of the mulch which they did. This is one of the best experiences I have had in using a company recommended by Angie's List.

First of all the man the owns the company is the one that gave me the estimate. He is a certified arborist and I could tell he was extremely knowledgeable. The work was done true to the estimate. I was very impressed with how the whole thing was handled. They sent workers to come and they assess the job to see the appropriate equipment that they should use. They came and did the work very quickly and efficiently. It only took them about 3 hours to do the work. They worked very well together. There were different numbers of people here at different times depending on the job they were doing and it was very efficient. I liked them so much that I am having them come back out to work on 4 other trees. I have listed their website below for everyone to see. www.traversotree.com
Description of Work: They trimmed up the bottoms of our redwood trees in the front and took the branches off from over the house. They took the redwoods that were hanging over the fence in the back yard and trimmed them back to the trunk, and took some dead wood out of the oak trees.

We have used Traverso Tree Service for our two large Sugar Pines in the past and contacted them to prune back the trees from our roof line and also prune and shape them. They came out to provide a bid and were very punctual. Their bid was reasonable and not the highest or lowest bid we had received. They came out on schedule and did a great job shaping and pruning the trees and ensuring the branches were away from the roofline.

They didn't answer their phone, so I finally left a message explaining what I wanted. They got back in a couple of days. No problem for me since I'm home most of the time. Might be a difficulty for others. Quite professional conversation had an appointment with an arborist scheduled. The arborist arrived on time, appeared quite knowledgeable, identified the tree, and made what I thought were sound recommendations for taking care of a tree that has seen no professional care in twenty years. His estimate was a bit more than I expected, but within reason (and typical of others experience with Traverso). Sadly, I was not timely, and when he advised that it would be four- five weeks before the work could be done, I knew that the tree would bloom and leaf out before. Not the best timing on my part, but next time around I'll be earlier. Called the office and again left a message giving the go-ahead for the work. Received a call-back acknowledging and scheduling the work and promising a "day before" verifying call. Received the promised "day before" call, including a time to expect the crew. The crew arrived within minutes of the scheduled time. The foreman reviewed the work to be done with me and was so polite as to ask permission to pull his trucks onto my property! They quickly assembled their gear and began work. Chain saw and pruning saw were soon put to the task from the ground and the cherry-picker was above with a crew member trimming the tree top. I was particulary impressed by the fine condition of all of the equipment, the use of area pads below the cherry pickers stabilizing legs, the crews strict adherence to safety (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves on all the crew, all the time), their coordinated work, their thorough cleaning of debris, and certainly not in the least by their bringing an "out of control" tree to a condition if not beautiful, at least aspiring to be.
Description of Work: Their description: "On the Bradford Pear in front: Crown reduced shoots by 60%, rounded over, thinned, lifted, and balanced lower crown." My description: Trimmed the rangey top growth, shaped the tree as evenly as possible (there are environmental elements leading to one-sidedness), cleared the interior of the tree of unneccessary growth, lopped the bottom branches so that one can walk beneath the tree. Gathered all trimmings and removed them.

It went a smoothly as possible. I had questions about whether three unhealthy trees should be removed and the arborist/estimator gave thorough answers. He recommended that I remove two trees and wait to see how the third tree gets though the next season. The crew that did the removal was on time and did a great job. The staff in the office also is very professional. I have a high opinion of the quality of this company and recommend them highly.

I have used them before and they were good. They were a little cheaper than another service we had used. Their estimate had a breakdown of all the different items and everything was on par with the other estimate except for one, which was the removal of a really big tree. They were high on that. We may use the other one that we called because they were really busy.

Traverso was completely professional, responsive, and efficient in its work., from making the appointment to final clean-up. A walk-around was scheduled a few months in advance, and the person doing the assessment was on time, on the dot, and very helpful in determining for us what needed to be done. The tree and roots were removed while we were at work. The crew had completely cleaned the work area and neatly scattered clippings

Fantastic! I had to reschedule twice as i had a death in the family and the second time they showed up for work but my HOA would not let them use the chipper on a Saturday, so Raphael said they would reschedule with no problem. The team in the office was very accommodating rescheduling. It did take a few weeks to get a new appointment as they were booked that far out. Goes to show they are in demand for their services. It was worth the wait as they knew what they were doing. They did not hack my trees like you see so many companies that don't know how to properly trim for health and growth. Raphael gave me a number of pamphlets on spreding mulch and proper tree care. I highly recommend Traverso, plus I will use them again when needed.

We called for an estimate to prune a large tree-that had not been pruned for 3 years. They were polite- gave a date and came on time- The man seemed knowledgeable and explained what needed to be done- but the estimate was 500.00. He said there was travel time involved and it was 80.00 an hour per man and it would take 3 men. Total bid 500.00. Too much- would rather replace the tree- we also had two other bids- one for the same amount- one for 200.00 less. I would use these people if I lived closer. We think the tree was not pruned correctly- so these people do not have alot to work with from the get go.

They are excellent. The price was very reasonable. I was very, very pleased with the amount they did and the cost. They have fully certified arborists that come out. They are professional people that come out to look at the trees. There was no charge for coming out to give the bid and they did a wonderful job. I had a redwood in my backyard and I had a couple of concerns about it; they were able to explain to me why I should have it looked at every couple of years. I had a tree in the front that definitely had some dead branches and they cleared those off. They explained to me what kinds of things I need to look for. They not only did good work; they gave me information I needed to take care of the trees. The trees are very healthy. I wouldn’t use anyone else.

They did a good job. I couldn’t communicate with anyone because they didn’t speak English. I’m not sure if they did everything that they were supposed to because I only spoke to them at the beginning. It is at a rental property and I haven’t seen the results, but I have to assume that it is good. I haven’t heard anything from my tenants so it must be fine. I was getting high bids from people and when they came out I asked for an Angie’s List discount, but instead they offered to trim extra trees for me. So for the same price as everyone else, I got more work done. Their punctuality was very good and they were very fast. I have an enormous tree in my own yard and I am thinking of using them.

They were extremely professional and did a beautiful job. We got 3 bids and their's was in the middle. Very helpful in advising us on what/how/when work should be done, paying attention to the health of the trees. They gave us a date a couple of weeks out and arrived exactly on time on the day they said they'd be there. The workmen were very helpful and friendly and seemed to enjoy their work--which is really saying something since it is hard work and it was very hot and sunny both days. I cannot say enough good things about Traverso.
