Description of Work: I had 5 Star come in and replace most of the wall plugs in a two story house. The original ones were worn out and the plugs would fall out. It took three hours or so and they brought the receptacles that I specified. They were sure to ask me about the color and style that I wanted. Overall, another great experience with 5 Star.

+ -1 moreI had a light over my sink that never worked. He tested it, then quickly deduced the problem. He fixed the issue within minutes and now my light works! The other issue was an undercounter light. It wasn't working either. He told me what the issue was and fixed it.
Description of Work: Bruce was so professional that I ended up referring him to my boyfriend a few days later! He called me prior to the appointment to let me know he was on schedule. When he arrived, he quickly analyzed why my two different sets of lights weren't working, told me what the issues were, then quickly fixed them. I will be referring Bruce for many years to come. He is a professional and knows what he's doing.

+ -1 moreBruce did a terrific job installing an electric dog fence to keep our Boxer inside the yard. This included connecting a transponder to a receiver. He also had to dig a trench to run some of the wires under the sand and other wires along our fence. Bruce came out a second time to move some of the wires in order for our dog to have more room to roam. The electric current and vibration are mild, but enough to keep our dog 3' away from the fence!

+ -1 moreI cannot say enough good things about 5 Star Electric and Bruce Singh. He responded quickly when other local electricians failed to return calls, or returned calls a week later. He showed up on time, did excellent work and was very fair in his pricing. He installed a very large crystal chandelier in an entryway with 14 foot ceilings with ease. He was challenged with the installation of a ceiling fan in a family room with 18 foot ceilings. He went above and beyond to find a 16 foot A-framed ladder, it was HUGE, to get the job done. His follow through was great, as well as greatly appreciated. He even took the time to hang a large mirror high over the fireplace. Bruce also cleaned up everything before leaving and made sure all was right...very nice guy, too, which is just an added bonus. I would highly recommend hiim!
Description of Work: Bruce repaired a broken chandelier I had purchased via the Internet. It was a very large crystal chandelier, which he then installed in the entryway with 14 foot ceilings. He installed a light in kitchen eating area (12 foot clings). After going through a lot of trouble to find a 16 foot A-frame ladder, he installed a large, very heavy ceiling fan in family room with 18 foot ceilings, then hung a mirror over the fireplace.

+ -1 moreHad problems with electric going out in bedroom. Bruce came out, trouble shot the problem, decided it was a faulty breaker. Replaced the breaker and things appear to be working perfectly. He set the appointment for 9:00 AM and was here early. Great attitude, pleasant disposition and knowledgeable and competent. How can you go wrong with that combination. I would enthusiastically recommend using him for any electrical problem one might have. Bravo!!! Update: The problem came back. We called a different electrician. this time we gave him more information and more examples of our intermittent problem. The breaker was now ruled out. The second electrician diagnosed a bad plug in the bedroom. Now 8 months later we an say that was the problem. The reason we mention this is to alert others in the importance of telling the electrician all the problems.

+ -1 moreWe had the neutral go out at the house. I called 5 stsar and during the initial call my phone dies. I went and put my phone on my laptop that still had some power left to try and charge my cell phone. Since no power was at the house. To my surprise he called back right when my phone was powering up.5 star came out to the house very promptly. Took a look through out the house to see what might be causing all the problems. Helped search down the problem and told us how to take care of the problem since it was with PG&E line from the m power pole. Going to have them do more as i remodel my house.
Description of Work: Work performed was checking why the breaker to the house was popping the breakers. Check power through out the house. Finally came to the solution with the power line from PG&E. And was spot on when PG&E came out later that day.

Description of Work: During a bathroom remodel, it was evident there was unexpected electrical work that had to be completed before the remodel could continue. I called two electricians I've used in the past, with no response. I checked reviews on Angie's List and was impressed with the reviews for 5-Star Electric. I called and spoke with Bruce, the owner, and he made arrangements to come to my home, assess the situation and determine what needed to be done. He came out in the evening and worked 3 evenings thereafter, fitting my unexpected project into his busy schedule. Bruce was very professional and I was impressed that he made every effort to commodate our needs, realizing the remodel was at a standstill until he could help us. I will call Bruce in the future. Thank you!

I received a confirmation email this morning before eight.He arrived early, quickly idetified and fixed the problem. Because I liked his work ethic right away,I had him look at my kitchen-where I need some can lights installed. I will be calling him to do that job as soon as I choose the lights.Very impressed with Bruce...very nice guy!

He was knowledgeable and was able to come out that same morning. He took care of the problems in a friendly professional manor. I would definitely use him again.

I believe his price is good but have nothing to compare his rates to. He charges $75.00 an hour. We found his evaluations of our electrical needs to be forthright and honest. He responds in a timely fashion to phone calls and was prompt in his appointment with us. Bruce has a pleasant and likeable personality, did his work quietly and efficiently. We will definitely call upon 5 Star Electric for future electrical needs.
Description of Work: Bruce installed two outlets, one in our kitchen and another in the den. Both installations required Bruce to crawl under the house. He also evaluated another problem for us, researched it and was candid in informing us of the expense and complications of that installation as far as wiring would go. We decided against it. He was helpful in suggestions for overhead lighting in our kitchen. We will probably go with 5 Star when we make changes there.

All work was done professionally and he cleaned up so I didn't have to do a thing: he even helped me move the furniture back. I highly recommend him and will be having him back.
Description of Work: New ceiling fan/light was installed and Steve had to brave the attic/heat to secure the electrical box to support the fan. He also hung a ceiling light and changed out hall way lights.

+ 0 moreBruce was amazing. He arrived right on time and got right to work. He was very friendly and was so kind to my son. My dog got out and he made it clear he is dog friendly. He is very knowledgeable. Bruce came initially to find out why our lights would blink every once in awhile and why our ceiling fan just cut out. He had all of the parts needed on hand except for a breaker that he had to make a special trip to home depot to get for us.(at no extra charge) I kept adding more things for him to do as they came to mind and he took care of everything I needed right then and there. He saved us money wherever he could and even gave us parts for free. The breaker he had to replace ended up costing twice as much as he thought so instead of doing what most people would and say we had to pay for it, he split the cost with me. It is such a relief to find someone that actually cares and helps instead of just trying to gouge you for as much money as possible. Such a nice guy who actually seemed to like what he does for a living. It shows in his work and how he treated me. We will definitely use 5 star electric from now on!;0)
Description of Work: investigated and solved the reason why our ceiling fan/light went out. Replaced worn and faulty outlets. Gave us his expert opinion on what might be going on to cause a high electrical biull from the mobile home park management. Took the time to look at all of the breakers in our fuse box and identified one that had water damage and smelled like it may be burning. He even had to make a trip to home depot for the breaker. Replaced old multi outlets that were posing a hazard.

+ 0 moreAs I discussed above, it was a visit replete with challenges... but all challenges were successfully met.
Description of Work: After 9 years of throwing the switch for our driveway lights, asked 5-Star to install a photosensor to control the system. Bruce and his co-worker, Heston, were punctual and quick to develop a plan. Unfortunately, they discovered that the three lights involved were running off a circuit that had two, separate "hot" leads. This required a second photocell which 5-Star had to run back into town and attempt to find. Despite having to visit three different suppliers, Bruce and Heston never lost their + attitude and did NOT charge for the full time spent trying to locate the part. More challenges were discovered after the 2nd cell was installed. For some reason, the lights were shorting out. Bruce discovered that the original installers had nicked key wires and today's takedown and reassembly had exposed the ongoing, wiring problem. The 5-Star team was patient, personable, and persistent throughout. They met the challenges of this job head-on and never lost their composure. The amount charged was more than fair and I could not be happier with the effort they demonstrated. I will absolutely consider 5-Star for any future, electrical needs.

Description of Work: Our stove top ignitor kept igniting even after the nob was turned to off positions. The ignitor was also sending a slight shock to the touch thru the whole range when you picked it up. Bruce opened up the range and repaired one of the failing ignitors. He also cleaned the interior of the range to prevent any other electrical issues.
