They were very thoughtful and helpful. They didn't satisfy our needs, but I would definitely recommend them. It was a good experience, but it was a learning experience for us.

Bruce & Greg went above and beyond to make sure everything worked properly once they were finished. I will be using them for any electrical work I need to have done in the future. We have been consistently impressed with Bruce's expertise, thoughtful advice on projects, reasonable rates, and honest, likeable nature. We would trust him to complete any project. Heck, I'd like to adopt him! When he was completing work on our house before we moved the 200 miles to San Luis he even texted us a picture of our dry lawn, recommending that we have the gardener extend the watering time AND plugged in pheromone diffusers so our cat would have an easier transition to his new home! Bruce was in many ways our "welcoming committee" to San Luis Obispo, showing us by example why SLO was the best choice to escape the rat race.

Dependable, on time, no fuss. Advised me to consider upgrading panel during replacement if I was considering solar panels in future. Two years later, I had local solar company come out and advise on future project and they were quite pleased to see the excellent panel upgrade.

Bruce spent 2.5 hours searching for the cause of the problem because it wasn't readily apparent. It perplexed him but he persevered in spite of my leading him astray (insisting the plug in back of a cabinet wasn't a GFI breaker [it was]). Along the way he gave me an excellent education in how electricity works, fixed a couple of other plugs with loose wires and discussed all the options in a professional, friendly manner. I felt comfortable with him and trusted he was giving me the absolute best advice. 5 Star will be coming back to install some new LED fixtures in the garage, which he did not insist on selling to me but let me order exactly what I wanted myself.

I needed to have my outdoor security light fixture upgraded to LED. My kitchen lights from fluorescent to LED tubes. Ian was knowledgeable, professional, & called to let me know when to expect him. I was impressed that the work could be done on short notice & efficiently. I will be using them again to replace 5 indoor ceiling lights to LED ones.once I get the fixtures. They also gave me a very detailed & timely estimate for replacing my main electrical panel which is very old, outdated & likely a fire hazard. I couldn't be happier with them, & their service. I will call them again if I have any electrical problems. I got what I paid for. Quality work that should be rewarded, & which I appreciate since I can't do what they do.. .

5 Star Electric installed a ceiling fan in our master bedroom. Tommy and Ian showed up on time ready to get the job done. There was no fixture in the ceiling so they had to cut a hole in the ceiling, install a junction box, run wiring through the small crawl space in the attic down to the existing wall switch and cut an additional hole in the wall for the fan wall switch. It works great, looks great and Tommy and Ian cleaned up thoroughly. This is the second ceiling fan install 5 Star and done in our home. I’m confident the job was done correctly.

I have to say, this is what I had hoped would happen! Bruce and Tom showed up on time with everything they needed to complete the job, did the work as promised and under budget! Could not be happier!

Heston arrived exactly on time and spent 20 minutes troubleshooting before determining that the breaker itself was bad. He did this to save me money as the breaker was $60. He did not have one on his truck, but did a 15 minute trip to Home Depot and had the whole thing wrapped up in 45 minutes. Very professional and quality work. Also gave me some suggestions on better waterproofing my outdoor plugs. Good work at a good price. Thanks!

Given the fact that it was the day before New Years, we were having the most difficult time finding someone to fix an electrical problem that was causing our landline phones and security system to stop working. This was especially concerning since we are a small business. Bruce took the time to show up at the time we requested, fixed the problem immediately and could not be nicer to deal with. After we made the initial purchase for the panel replacement, life happened in big lumpy handfuls. We had at least three large life challenges that created delays of close to a year. Bruce was patient, and polite, and patient, and patient, and polite as we worked through some delays to finally get ready for the work to be done. When the day finally arrived they did exactly what they said they would in less time than was anticipated. One of the team, Tom, came in after the power was back on and replaced three receptacles in the house. Tom was thorough and professional. He got to work upon arrival and worked throughout the day until finished. My impression was very favorable. You will be so happy to have found this business! I fully endorse this business! I hope to have them back to do some additional work in the near future.

They were GREAT! I live 400 miles away, the electrician called three times during the call to verify what was going on and offered different choices to remedy the problems. He arrived on time, did the work in a timely manner, was most pleasant and efficient!

All went well and the actually bill was less than the estimate. I have never had that experience before. Bruce also gave some good advice on replacing all of the halogen light fixtures with LED lighting and told me exactly where to get them either at COSTCO or at Home Depot, what they would cost, and explained how easy it would be for me to do the replacements. He also said he could do the installation if I did not want to do it myself. He then gave a written estimate for that, and another bid for replacing other fixture. I found Bruce a very well qualified electrician, and a honest straight forward kind of a guy that is very professional and forthright in his business. I will be using him for all of work in Shell Beach and I would highly recommend him to others.

called Bruce at 8:00 a.m. On Friday morning and explained our problem. He said he would get to us that day. Was excellent at keeping us informed how their schedule was going. Heston was here by 12:00 and started looking for our problem. We live in a older home so it was not easy to find the problem. By three Bruce had come to look and did not give up until he found the broken ground. Any one else would have said I give up but he stayed with it until the job was done right. I was impressed with the total professionalism of both Bruce and Heston and the fact that they respected our home and went out of their way to fix the problem without tearing out walls. It would have been much easier for them but they found a way not to. I will recommend this company to anyone who asks me about an electrician and they will be the only one we ever use. I feel blessed to find a company who knows what the word service still means! Will forever be greatful.

The breaker went bad around 3 o'clock on a Saturday afternoon. After calling two other companies and getting answering machines I checked Angie's List and called 5 Star Electric and even though Bruce was in San Luis Obispo and I'm in Santa Maria he said he would come down, he even had me take a picture of the circuit box to make sure he had the correct part with him to make the repair. He came and made the repair and made sure there was no other problems that would've caused the breaker to go bad. He was friendly,courteous, and professional. He took the time to answer any other questions I had. The price was very reasonable for emergency repair and I couldn't be happier with the service I got from 5 Star. I highly recommend them.

Fast response. Detailed, informative visit to make estimate. Quickly provided estimate. Estimate seemed high. Estimate detailed labor and materials costs and stated "$50 coupon included." This seemed weird. I expected detailed costs to be listed then $50 deducted from that. He stated that labor costs were reduced by $50. Upon further inquiry, he was equivocal about per/hour labor charges. I didn't like that either. Straw that broke the camel's back: his charges did not include drywall repair.

They came on Saturday, were on time, communicated effectively throughout the process, and are licensed, bonded, and insured. I didn't actually verify all the licenses and insurance docs, but he told me he'd have his insurance agent send them all over pronto, but since I was short on time, I took his word for it as he seemed anxious to share them if I wanted them. Despite not verifying, the last 3 were very important to me and despite the fact that their cost was higher than some others, I wanted to make sure that if someone fell off a ladder at my wedding, I wouldn't get sued and make the wedding cost a lot more :). Heston also made some good suggestions on how to change the lighting so that the pictures at the wedding would look much better. On top of everything, after completing the work they told me not to worry about paying them that day as I was racing around doing wedding stuff. The little things like that matter on a big day and was much appreciated. Both of them were a pleasure to work with and I'd recommend.

We had a problem with 2 separate circuit breakers. My husband called an electrician who was scheduled to come between 11 and 1 the next day. He did not show. He called late in the afternoon saying he thought the window was 3 to 5. By that time, I had looked on Angie's list and found the good reviews for 5 Star Electric, so we called them. We set up an appointment for the following day, but late the same afternoon, he showed up to take a look. He spent about 20 minutes with my husband. For one circuit breaker, he found that a switch had been thrown that my husband didn't know about. (We had been having some work done on the house, and we suspect that the workers did this inadvertently.) The other problem also turned out not to be a bad circuit breaker, but a problem in our heating system that would need an HVAC person. So Bruce solved one of our problems and identified the other, but he did not charge us for his time since he didn't actually have to fix any breakers. It is an amazing thing to have any sort of service call that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. We would definitely call 5 Star Electric for future electric needs!
