West LA Computer Expert

We chose him for the work because we had used his services before when we had a previous computer crash. It was a very detailed and difficult job. He was great with the work. His cost was very reasonable. If you have a computer crash or a need to back up files, he is an expert!

I have been using his services for a couple of years. He has been great and his prices are very reasonable. He is very responsive and is a great guy! When I need anything additional, I will call him.

My computer would start and perform basic operating system functions but would not run any applications. Dan came to my house in Malibu, though it's outside of his usual service area. For a very reasonable fee (with a coupon) he found the problem and fixed it. I have had no problems with the computer since then. He gave me a good explanation of what he had done and also provided some anti-malware software with advice about how to upgrade it. I plan to rely on him in the future for any issues with my computer that I can't resolve myself.

He removed the virus from the computer and installed new anti-virus software. He was very patient and worked on it until it was finished. My daughter was very happy with the results.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service. He was quite good and very knowledgeable. He did not have the greatest personality. He was not mean, but was just one of those great computer geeks that know what they are doing. I was quite happy. He worked very hard, which was really good. He worked quite a while and it has been fine ever since. His work was excellent.

Dan was on time and all knowledgeable, helping me above and beyond my initial difficulty with an HP laptop. He essentially was patient and generous for a computer illiterate senior citizen. I got a good 2 hours worth of tutorial and service.

That worked out fine. They were able to fix what I wanted. They were very accommodating time-wise. I have a busy schedule and they were flexible enough to work with me on that. The gentleman that did the repair was very knowledgeable. The price was very reasonable.

Let me start by saying I am an internet junkie. I don't use my laptop for business, but for everything else. I post to FB, comment, follow my interests of early cinema and many other things. I read my news and follow up blogs. I keep in touch with friends. I have a hundred emails a day, some of them suggesting things that may be of interest to me. The thought of having it out with a specialist unglued me! I was frantic to think about it. Alas, something had to be done! I was not going to turn it over to anyone or any place that would keep it out of my hands for weeks! I decided to look on Angie's list. I was very happy learn about Dan, and his recommendations, and to see that he is local to me, should I ever drop it off. He made contact with me following my purchase almost immediately. He was here within a week, booking according to my schedule. He was on time, no waiting, a relief! Dan is very pleasant, and calm (I am anything but!). Dan is the right personality for me. I don't know each and every 'tweek' he made, many go over my head. He easily understood the things that were annoying me, even when I had difficulty stating. He explained as he went along, and wrote down things to help me remember and follow up on. I have either a fading battery or loose connection. We talked about it, he made suggestions. He did not shorten my time, he did not act like he was rushing out to be elsewhere. I was important. When Dan left, I was very satisfied. The difference was immediate. I am taking a few notes, as there are a few more things that could use a look into. But for now my sweet machine it is humming along! The next day he emailed asking how the laptop was running, and we went back and forth regarding the battery. Should it be the battery, I will have Dan replace it (it doesn't come out), rather than Best Buy even if the battery is free as it is under extended warranty, They said it could take weeks! Ouch! To Dan and others I will be back!

I did have a very good experience with them. He is very nice and very knowledgeable and more importantly, very reasonable. He is very, very good. He was timely. I like the value. He did a lot of extra stuff. He didn't dispute my PC. What I really liked was the guy followed up. He called me back a day or two later to make sure everything was still okay. When I called them on another issue. I have this stuff which can log me in. He did some more work for me for free. I would highly recommend that guy without a doubt. The pricing was outstanding. I would say it was reasonable and it is a good value. That guy is my new computer guy. He really called back. That's a really nice gesture.

I was hit by the infamous FBI virus. I called several online tech help services and nothing they suggested helped. Or they helped a little, and then it died again. Until finally, safe mode wouldn't even appear. Dan was a last resort. He came to my house and worked diligently to restore not only the computer but every scrap of data that was on it. I was ready to give up. I even told Dan, I was willing to trash the computer and buy a new one. Dan would not give up until my computer was perfect.

I honestly don't think anyone could have done a better job or cared as much as Dan did. He arrived at 6pm and didn't leave until 9:30pm.

Dan has always provided me with the best computer service. He is always flexible with his scheduled and never is late. He is the ultimate professional. I am so happy to have found him and I will continue to use his services ,I am sure. My dog Oscar loves him and gets so excited where he arrives.

Overall, he was good and personable. He explained to me what the problem was.

The proof is in the pudding -- and I am writing this review on my now PERFECTLY RESTORED computer that is running, it would seem, better than when I purchased it 6+ years ago! Dan is a genius!! He was able to re-boot my computer, identify the problem (ultimately one of the two internal hard drives I had was degraded), he discussed my various options, and agreed, with an inexpensive new hard drive (about $50) my computer should work fine for the work I do -- primarily writing and internet. While he was at it, he fixed a few other small bugs he detected. As other reviewers note, Dan checks in with you, provides you with your various options -- does NOT try to sell you anything but what you need -- and, in fact, his prices are unbeatable!! I paid him extra as I didn't think he charged enough... One thing I would recommend to anyone reading this: a) Be sure to have good reliable virus protection on your computer (I do on my mine, it's well worth the few $$'s); and b) be sure to have a reliable external back-up of ALL your essential files!! (I use Norton Ghost and a pretty large external hard drive.) Both were very handy when Dan was repairing my computer... One of the problems it turns out I was having was my internal hard drives were simply overloaded, hence my system was running VERY sluggishly; Dan simply moved some larger files to my external drive. Whatever he did, my machine is now running SILENTLY and, so far, FLAWLESSLY. I couldn't be happier, and glad not to have to replace my system immediately. I would highly recommend Dan for any of your PC needs. Btw, I did take my computer to him as I suspected it might be a time consuming repair -- and it did take him several days, mainly bc he let the computer run overnight to be sure it was operating properly, and twice he discovered bugs that needed attention. So if you think you have a time consuming issue, you may be better off dropping it as his place (right off the 10 freeway in West LA). But his final bill was more than reasonable, and his work was first-rate!! Five-stars all the way! Thanks, Dan!!

He was really nice, and even bought me a flash drive to transfer information. He was able to take a paper I had on a frozen computer and transfer it to another computer; it was great! He really went the extra mile!

Dan saved my life, in other words saved the PC on which I have all my financial records. The PC was going downhill. Everything I could do (I am fairly computer savvy) failed. He came to my house and with imagination and know-how went through all the possibilities, downloaded the right antivirus software ( correctly criticizing the software I had installed), located and destroyed the virus, all in less than two hours. Followed that up with two phone calls to make sure everything was ok (it was). If anything else goes wrong in the future, I will call Dan first and foremost.

Bottom line, Dan did everything I needed done, plus took the initiative to improve some things I hadn't even asked about or realized could be a problem. He went beyond expectations!

I am something of a geek myself, so I don't often need tech help, but I don't always have the time or equipment to fix things myself. Dan was terrific: prompt, easy to talk to, very good with followup, and reasonably priced.

Dan responded same day to my location to deal with blue screen shutdowns on my PC. He knew my machine from a previous visit a year ago, and moved through the issues quickly. We updated and cleaned up additional items, opening and using programs to make sure the crash problem did not recur. My computer problem seems to have resolved and in addition, everything is working faster.

Dan was great! Very responsive. He showed up on time and went through my computer to remove malware, spyware and get it working faster. Provided helpful recommendations.

I called Dan, he said he would be here the next day in the morning. He sent me an e-mail that night explaining that someone had an emergency and could he get to me later in the day. I have a laptop as well as the troubled desktop, and a smart phone so I could get some work done, and I said the afternoon would be fine. He called me as he was leaving the emergency situation to tell me exactly when he would arrive and he did on time. Spent some time with my computer and with much patience and professionalism was able to restore the computer, and actually did speed it up by deleting and compressing files and programs that were slowing it down and that I didn't need. He explained to me exactly what he was doing and showed me how he went through the steps to clean up the hard drive. He also told me to call or e-mail him after her left if I had any questions or problems with the computer, which I didn't. Altogether Dan was an expert and had no problem with my old clunky desktop and made several suggestions regarding backing up my data. He also pointed out that with the age of this equipment I might want to consider a new system before too long. He said that adding additional memory to a system as old mine would probably not be a long term fix, and so he didn't recommend that he add any memory to the system. I was very impressed and will definitely call on Dan in the future if I have any other computer problems.

I purchased a special though Angie's List of $100 worth of troubleshooting for $75. We made an appointment the next day for a few days in the future. He arrived promptly and went to work on my Dell laptop to try and determine why I had lost wireless capability. He was able to determine that the problem indeed lay with the laptop itself and not with my wireless provider. He was also able, through the process of elimination, to determine that a new driver would not resolve the issue and that the wireless card inside my laptop was dead. He brought along an external USB wireless card, but made it clear I could purchase one from just about anywhere. For simplicity's sake, however, I purchased it from him. While in the long run I will probably replace the whole laptop, this service visit helped me get at least a few more months of functionality out of my old computer.
