I seldom post reviews for work done to anything. However, Dan saved my mental state after being locked out of my computer. No nonsense, just a great job done in getting me back on line and now able to log on. Again, great service.

Dan worked remotely with "Team Viewer" app and had it solved in a few minutes. He has worked for me before, both in-home and remotely, and wouldn't accept any payment for this quick fix. Nice guy and very professional.

I am happy and pleased with his work. He cleared all the nonessentials from all my computers, found solutions to my e-mail issues, got my new back up external drives working, solved my external speaker issues and checked to be sure I didn't have any lurking problems. I highly recommend him. He is definitely my go to person now.

Dan came to my home, was prompt, courteous. Fixed the issue and gave me some other (free) advice. Very happy to know this person exists! Will most certainly hire him again.

Dan picked up my computer and brought it back later the same day after fixing it.

everything went smoothly. Dan explained what he was doing as he worked and he answered all of my questions. I will call on him again when I need help with my computer.

Dan was great. He identified that we needed a new hard drive, got us one and set it up with windows and all of the software we needed. We needed to have a set of recovery discs sent from Lenovo to install the new hard drive, and they sent defective discs not once, but twice! Dan weathered a series of very frustrating dealings with Lenovo, made multiple trips to our office and spent many hours to make sure sure we got up and running again. He had creative solutions to the problems that came up and charged us a very reasonable price for all of his time. We would not hesitate to recommend him.

I had been having a problem with Time Warners Wifi here in Westchester for sometime. Time Warner just told me to by network extenders for all my rooms. I new this was ridiculous as we just moved 4 years ago from a 3000+ sq ft home in Culver City and never had a problem. We downsized to a 2100 sq ft single story home and they changed our equipment to "newer equipment". I finally got fed up when my new Ring Doorbell was not working properly. I found a "Angie's List" Deal With W LA Computer Expert Dan and he is GOOD! Dan came out and we called Time Warner and he took ever and dealt with them directly about their equipment and its capabilities. At first they denied and then the equipment mgr. acknowledged that the modems are not AC compatible. So from there I decided to purchase my own equipment on Dan's advise and when it arrived he came out and he installed everything and checked the health of my laptop and computer as well. I highly recommend West LA Computer Expert "Dan" he is very easy to work with and understand. He has great patients with us technically challenged as well :)

He was excellent and efficient. He took some stuff home too so that he could work on it so that it would not take more time. He worked with me on the price as well and I paid a couple hundred dollars total.

Dan Zivetz was great! the fact that he comes to your home is especially good, and that he came on a Saturday was awesome. And all his work was tops.

Dan does noting short of an excellent job with every task. He is thorough, smart, conscientious, patient, and just an all around gret guy.

He was very responsive and set up appointment for the next day. He checked out the computer, ran several scans and fixed the problem. He was very professsional and competent. I would definitely use his sevices again.

Whenever I sign on to Angies List I am asked to review this, whatever it is. I can't get rid of it without writing a review. I'm sure they're very nice people but I have never used them, and would not use them since they are no where near me. Maybe now the pop up review request will disappear.

I have use Dan Zivetz of West LA Computer Fix for all my computer issues. He has all the skills and training needed to fix any computer needs. The main thing about Dan I like is that he will spend whatever time is needed even if its half a day. Myself and my wife are not great with computers but Dan takes the time to explain everything, their is no one better then Dan Zivetz.

Dan was quite knowlegable and quickly found and fixed the issue. He also set up some other things as well.

Dan Zivetz was very focused, effective, and businesslike. When it comes to setting up blogs, I am a novice. I had a very simple problem, post a document with charts, and get comments. From our first contact, Dan guided me though the WordPress and BlueHost process by email, and after a meeting at a local Starbucks, my simple little blog was set up. There were several difficulties in the set up process but Dan quickly found ways to surmount all these problems. I hope to use his services again the the future

Dan is the best! He's so patient, and takes time to properly follow all the steps to troubleshoot problems and find solutions. His prices are very reasonable. I intend to call on his services again anytime I have future computer issues...which is often!

Dan was great. First he made sure we wasn't rerplacing a good HDrive. After he we was sure; he let me go online to purchase the parts myself and did not make me feel like I had to buy through him. This was different then any other vendor and I really appreciated it. We rescheduled after the delivery and he was great when replacing my drives while making sure my data was backed up. Also he followed up a week later (via remote) to double check everything was working great. Now that I have found Dan, I will probably bring him back to try and fix my slow internet connection. The process was successful.

This major problem required several steps to diagnose and fix: removing dubious software, replacing memory, restoring the system to an earlier state, automatically scanning and repairing a disk. This all took two visits and a total of four hours. Dan kindly drove all the way to Malibu twice so the work could be done at my house. He came each time on less than 24 hours notice. When the scan was taking a long time, he went out to dinner and came back to reduce the amount of time he was charging me for. While some other lengthy steps were proceeding, he worked on some additional problems on my laptop and on a printer. In the end, the computer was working fine, even though it is 4 and a half years old. Dan's prices are very moderate considering his high level of skill.

My home PC crashed and would not restart. Dan very quickly responded to my message and was at my home within a half hour. He diagnosed and fixed the problem. I am completely satisfied with his work and the results.

Re 3/16/15 provider response: Yes, we did have a good working relationship, but the project was to fix the backups and that wasn't done. It would've only taken a few minutes of your time to make the new external hard drive compatible with the computer. Yes, I told you about this but you wanted to charge me to come back when I hadn't used up 2 hours on-site, which I paid for. Sorry it would've taken a third trip to use the 2 hours but you could've stopped by at your convenience. Now nothing is being backed up to the hard drive because the synctoy isn't synced, which was a foreseeable issue for a computer expert. ------------------------------------------- $75 for 2 Hours of On-site Computer Labor Plus Free Site Survey/Upgrade Analysis! -- This is what I purchased but I don't feel I got what I paid for. Dan came to the house twice, but wasn't here an hour either times. I guess even if he's not here an hour, the fact that he's here at all counts as an hour (maybe figuring driving time, although is that supposed to be included?). I wouldn't care if the job had gone smoothly, but it didn't and there are unresolved problems. I was getting an error message that a hard drive was about to fail. Dan was familiar with the message because he's worked on my computer before, and he's familiar with the computer and its two backup systems. The error message started to interfere with my online Carbonite backup so I had to resolve it. I bought a new hard drive and Dan installed it. I was hoping he would transfer my data to the new hard drive with a device that automatically transfers data quickly (I've had this method used before), but Dan told me just to copy/paste, and he left. It took me awhile to copy/paste and when I finished, the data didn't match. I tried to figure out where the files were different, but it was almost a TB and too much, so I gave up. I called Dan and he came the second time to reset my external Book backup with synctoy. Once that was done, I worked with Carbonite to resume my online backup. Carbonite couldn't resume its backup because the new hard drive had a different drive letter than the original drive it replaced. So Carbonite reset the new hard drive letter ID back to its original and everything resumed where it left off and it's working properly. However, now synctoy doesn't back up to the Book because the drive designation was changed back to its original ID. When Dan was setting letter designations for the synctoy backup, it occurred to me that Carbonite might possibly need the new hard drive to have its original letter ID in order to resume backing up where it left off, but this was a fleeting thought and I just assumed that Dan was the expert and everything would go smoothly. I was right about the drive ID, everything is not properly synced, and I feel Dan should've foreseen this issue. When I called Dan to let him know there was a problem with the external backup and tried to discuss why the drive ID wasn't set back to its original, he said Windows randomly assigns the hard drive letters. He advised he wouldn't come back to reset the external hard drive without additional payment. I know it's easy to change drive IDs if you're a computer professional, since I watched Carbonite do it. I feel that if Dan didn't want to make another trip, he should've at least walked me through making this change via the phone. Now I have to figure out how to change the drive ID and reset synctoy myself. Not that this is a bad thing, since the less I have to rely on others the better, but I paid to have a job done and it wasn't. Finally, in his haste to get in and out, the access panel to the computer was put in incorrectly so that it flops back and forth, leaving gaps that allow dust to get in. Not sure yet what's going on with it since we just discovered this today. This discovery was the last straw and prompted me to write about this experience. Finally, I have no idea what the "Free Site Survey/Upgrade Analysis" is, because it's something I didn't receive.

I used the Angie's List coupon for two hours of computer service for only $69. This is a great bargain! Dan Zivetz arrived on time and set up my new wireless printer, making sure the fax and scanning functions were working. He also cleaned up the hard drive on my computer and downloaded and installed some free anti-virus apps. I'm not technically very savvy, and I appreciated that he was happy to explain things so I understood clearly and didn't make me feel like an idiot as some techies are likely to do. He stayed a bit longer than the two-hours, and I offered to pay him extra, but he wouldn't take it. A very nice guy. I have since recommended him to a friend who needed a similar setup, and she was very happy with his work as well. He offered to help her choose a new computer when she is ready to upgrade. I will definitely call him again when I need help, and would highly recommend him.
