Very poorly. Even though we exchanged a very clear list of things that needed to be done, he showed up not clear about what was expected and never offered any clarification about what was outside of the services he performs. I gave explicit instructions about where he should park so that he would not incur parking fees. Instead, he parked in the building where his parking ticket could not be validated. He did not understand instructions. He arrived looking as though he'd stopped working on his car in order to come to the appointment with me. He represented that he would submit a request for having my fee refunded. He did not.

I 'originally hired Dan using an Ang's coupon & had some time remaining on it when my hard drive crashed earlier this week. Dan first without charging for his phone time advised me what I needed to do to try to save the data despite back-up external drive issues too. When that failed he came out, TWICE, & performed the services described in the answer to the question before this one. When he determined during yesterday's visit that the hard drive was no good, he returned today with his own equipment k-to clone its contents onto a new hard drive we bought today. He spent all day with me despite it being the NFL Playoffs that I knew he wanted to watch. He finally left while the new hard drive data started backing up to the external backup drive (it can take hours) & told me to call him once it completed, no matter how late, so he could access my computer using remote access & help with cleaning out that back up drive of duplicate backups & to make room for future backups. All this & despite my surely being stressed out after not having use of my desktop for nearly a week & unable to handle various client matters as a result. He remained calm & focused throughout. And his fee was .very reasonable. I have no hesitation in recommending him for PCs & Windows-based products. I read a recent negative review about Dan & my take on it is that after the customer requested that Dan return to address an unresolved issue, he also expected Dan to perform new services free of charge, & that is unreasonable.

I did NOT use the provider as I am outside his service area. I received a refund of my purchase. I'm completing this review as Angie's List won't delete the review request and I'm tired of seeing it.

It didn't work out very well, he didn't seemed very knowledgable.

It went well. I am a technophobe and he explained clearly what needed to be done, and how I could best utilize available software in future. He was accessible and flexible. I did originally purchase a 2hr coupon ($69), and he made efficient use of the time. Additional work was done at a fair price. He did everything I needed done.

I had him come over for $75 for the two hours of service. I didn't see any improvement on the computer./ Yesterday I had him come over again and he charged me another $50 and it was still just as bad. He suggested that there was a problem with the hardware and not the software. But after paying $125 and not getting anywhere I'm not satisfied. He shouldn't have charged so much to not even fix the computer.

Dan was able to resolve some but not all issues in part because he was not familiar with our new mult-function machine & even with the product tech support on the line could not successfully resolve at least one function that was not working. He is also really a "PC" guy & I have a desktop PC, but it interfaces with 2 Apple devices where there were synching & other issues. Also, not his fault, but my prior IT guy set up some programs to interface my Outlook & Apple products & both Yahoo & Gmail accounts that probably only my set-up can understand..... Dan arrived early & stayed past the intended time to resolve as much as possible. For PC related issues I have no hesitation in recommending him.

Dan was on time and got right to work. I had many problems with my computer from start up and shut down. It was running slow and acting odd. It wasn't performing the way it used to. Dan is an expert when it comes to solving computer problems. He ran a few programs, cleaned out all the malware and spyware etc. He also did other things on my computer that made it run faster and ran a check disc test to test for disc errors etc. I'm really happy that I have a healthy running computer now.

I contacted Dan on a Saturday morning with a minor emergency. He offered to look at my computer that day. I dropped it off at his office which was nearby. He remedied everything by that evening. The charge was very reasonable

This company does not work on Macs.

Dan has it all. He is highly skilled, knows what he is talking about, very friendly, and has a great sense of humor. He worked through some very frustrating problems with the installation of the router with great patience. I am still convinced that he charged me far less than the value of his work. He always arrived within five minutes of our scheduled meetings. I hope he will agree to be our permanent "go to" guy from now on.

Great guy. Very skilled. Called EARLY when he was running late to make sure that was convenient. Did a very thorough and professional job. Called after to follow up nad make sure all was ok!

I have been struggling for 2 weeks to get my PC talking to the internet again. I asked lots of friends, called tech support and no connection. I went to Angie's List and chose this vendor. I called Dan wanting to find out if he went to my area and to describe the problem to see if he thought he could take care of the problem. All of a sudden he started asking me to try different fixes. This went on for 15 minutes and then my connection worked. I was thrilled to have my PC working again, without have to wait for an appointment. I asked him how much he would charge for the phone service, and he said nothing. Well, I sent him a check anyway and am writing this review to let other members what he a great job he did for me. In addition to being very knowledgeable he was very articulate and easy to understand. I will definitely use him again and recommend him to me friends.

I found Dan to be conscientious and knowledgeable. He shows up when he says he will -- and apologizes if the job takes longer than he originally anticipated. Not at all his fault -- especially when he's able to actually get the job done. The charge for his service is more than fair. Compared to others who have worked on my computers in the past, I feel in retrospect it's been a complete ripped off until I found Dan. I wouldn't go anywhere else now. I can't recommend him highly enough. He's the best!

Provider was very accommodating. He rearranged his schedule so he could respond to our request for assistance the same day. We have used the provider many times before and he has always responded in a timely fashion. We have been completely satisfied with his professionalism and with his knowledge of PCs We certainly will use him again

Awful experience. I relied on Angie ;List reviews to hire this guy. I am astonished at the disparity between the prior reviews of this guy and his performance. For starters, he shows up on day 1 without his glasses -- which means that he can't read the instructions on how to install the power surge protector. So he asks to try on my glasses. When those don't work, I finally send the guy to Walgreens to buy a pair of ready-made glasses -- but those don't work, either, so he has to come back another day. He shows up on day 2 and he finally figures out how to set up a basic power surge protector. But then there is more difficulty setting up the monitors to the work station -- trying to figure out where the wires / cords go etc. So he has to come back a third day. On day 3, I call him t confirm our appointment, but I don't hear from him -- and he fails to show. Finally, he calls me later in the day and we agree on a time the next day. On day 4, he calls to say that he's having trouble finding a parking. I mention to him that I saw empty spaces out in front of my apartment, but he says he didn't see any free spaces. I reiterate to take another look -- and then -- get this -- he starts to raise his voice to me. When this provider started raising his voice to me, I hung the phone up, and refused to take any of his subsequent calls. He later left a voice mail message demanding payment for the time he spent working on setting up my computer, which, incidentally was left unfinished. I subsequently hired a computer professional who finished the job. The second computer guy I hired told me the Angies' List guy deserved an "F" for organization as the wires connecting the monitors to my workstation evidently were a jumbled mess.

Don't go anywhere else. Problems are solved and in a very timely manner. I paid Geek squad 5 times as much and waited weeks and nothing was done. In hours and a fraction of the cost here my problems went away and my blood pressure didn't go up :) Used him twice and both times was great.

Dan spent several hours--had numerous phone calls with Microsoft tech support--I had some undetected corruption in 50 million lines of code and he had to fix it--super job--he did after many hours of diagnosis and failed attempts. He just stuck with it and said it would get fixed and it did--runs perfectly--quite simply, he is the best around at what he does--very smart and reasonably priced......wouldn't think of letting anyone else near my computer.

It went beautifully. He's a hard worker and very smart. He worked quickly and efficiently. We'll absolutely use him again.

My experience with West LA Computer Fix was positive from start to finish, beginning with Dan personally answering my early morning call. After describing the error message that would not allow my computer to open Windows, as well as my somewhat urgent situation, I was relieved to learn that he would make time to fit me in at the end of his already fully booked day. As promised, Dan showed up just after 8:30p.m., assessed the problem, suggested taking the computer overnight to scan and repair it, and calling me in the morning with an update. That is exactly what happened. He called the next morning to let me know the repair was complete and to set up a time to return the computer. Voila! Less than 24 hours later - computer back and working fine! The hal.dll error message seems to be a fairly common one that is sometimes associated with the need to restore the boot.ini file, which ended up being the culprit in this case. Additionally, after getting the computer back into place and testing it out, Dan spent extra time showing me how to export certain files that were difficult to move around in my system. I was very pleased with the excellent level of service provided by Dan, which, sadly, is hard to come by these days. Finding a computer service person who listens, follows up, is prompt and responsive, AND charges reasonable rates is not so easy. I would add that Dan is a relaxed and patient dude - also rare traits to find in most computer techs.

My computer was so filled with bugs it was unusable. He brought it back to life and also had good advice. I needed a new battery and he even found one online and linked it up so it was waiting for me to order... which I did and worked perfectly. Thanks again!

He showed up on time and did the work right away. He also gave me good advice on other computer questions but did leave as scheduled within one hour. I have used this service before and have always had good results. He is very reliable.

I had an issue with the power cord/battery. When I described the symptoms, this firm could not help me, but did provide a local referral whom they said they refer to often with good results. I'm on my way to discover this, but wanted to say thanks for the referral. It would be easy to say "sorry" and leave it at that; a good businessperson gives the referral. When I need WLA Computer Fix, you bet I'll be happy to call again!
