They did very good. I looked up information about how to replace the whole board. They updated me regularly about what was going on. They showed my what they needed to replace and why, and it matched all my research. It's been working great since they replaced it. They were prompt, effective, and efficient. We have used them since for other things and would highly recommend them.

He was pretty good.? I got him through the big deal.? I used him in November 2010. ?He recommended a couple of things that hadn't been installed.? He was great.? He was a nice and understanding technician.? There were no dislikes. ?We have just moved in a few months earlier and we noticed a couple of things that wasn't right.? We wanted to be sure that electrical wires and everything was safe.? He came in, checked all the sockets and identified some of the sockets were broken.? We didn't actually have any work done other than him coming in and checking.? It was an inspection.? The guy who came in looked like he was the president of the company.? His demeanor, his dress, his sensitivity of not tracking things in the house and that sort of things was great.
Description of Work: We used The Electric Connection for the whole house electrical checkup.

It went well. Very happy to get it fixed. Hard to find electricians for the little jobs.
Description of Work: I needed an outdoor outlet replaced. The circuit had gone dead and no one could figure out why. They came out, also could not identify why the circuit didn't work and relocated a new outlet for my sprinkler system. I thought the price was a little high, in that they quote approx. $100 per hour for labor and did it in well under an hour. The job was professional and the worker very polite, so no complaints aside from that.

First we had an in home estimate. Hugo was great in suggesting solutions, particularly how to run the ceiling fan electrical to our beam ceilings with minimal cosmetic damage. Next we booked the appointment with minimal delay. Once the guys arrived, we actually changed our minds about where we wanted the fans. They were able to problem solve and install both fans quickly. They also did a terrific job keeping the house clean. We love the fans and the work that was done.

Part of the kitchen had all the electric outlets without power. The other portion of the kitchen was fine. Two Electric Connection electricians arrived on schedule and quick found and fixed the issue (burned or worn out wiring at the terminals). In the process they advised, and we agreed, to replacing the old style outlets to GFCI where applicable. They replaced 3 GFCI outlets and two regular outlets along with the problem fix forapproximately $259 (we received a $25 reduction for using Angie's list). Both gentleman were very professional (lead was Ramiro Ortiz), efficient and their work space was clean. Quite satisfied..
Description of Work: Several electric outlets (5) or 1/2 of the kitchen had their electric outlets without power. The problem happened before but miraculously it fixed itself within several hours. This time (about 4 months later) the outlets lost power and 2 days later the power was still out. I checked Angies List and called Elecvtric Connection

My only complaint is that they are a 9-5 company with no emergency hours :) But I've found that most of my problems have been OK to wait on, especially because when they are in service, this company is very responsive and has always been able to send someone soon after I contacted them. ?The electricians work in teams and do not leave until they have solved the problem, even though it often involves fixing the work of some previous electrician from another company :)
Description of Work: Electric Connection has become the only electric company I call. I've had at least three teams out to my house -- to upgrade wiring in half the house, to install lighting on our steep front stairs, to troubleshoot a short that involved outdoor fixtures, to troubleshoot a different problem involving pool equipment. It's impossible to say which team of electricians from this company has been the best because they are all courteous, efficient, and they price the jobs fairly. I've spent more than $1,000 on various projects since first hearing about this company through Angie's List several months ago. I just don't want to dig out the receipts to figure out how much I've spent :) But it's always been fair.

On site visit by Hugo was thorough and professional. Options were explained and choices made. The field staff showed up on time and cleaned up at end of each work shift. The installation started as scheduled and the duration was extended by a half day due to additional work I requested. The field staff were friendly and if uncertain of work description - they requested clarification prior to starting the work item.

All I got for my money was someone who was here for less than a half an hour, and wrote up an estimate for work they would like to perform. The work they would like to do totalled $960, and the estimate included "trouble-shooting lines under the house." Apparently determining if there is a problem with these lines is not part of an "inspection." I feel totally ripped off. I've had better electrical inspections as part of the general report you get when you buy property. I frankly expected more from someone who specializes in this. I'm only glad that I didn't pay their usual $225 just to get an estimate for more work. This "Big Deal" wasn't.
Description of Work: I ordered the Angie's list "Big Deal" from these people for a "whole house electrical inspection" for $89.00, a discount from their "$225 Value."

Response from The Electric Connection
I’m really disappointed with the report from this customer. As far as I know, we did a perfect job. We did a detailed home safety inspection, found numerous issues, and gave the customer an accurate report about every one of these issues. Some examples of what we found were that many of the connections in the electrical boxes throughout their home were improperly spliced, resulting in poor grounding and other safety issues, missing GFI’s in some places and non-functioning GFI’s in other places, an improper connection at the forced air unit, improper lighting fixtures, and illegal wiring installation under the house. Besides locating these issues, we also gave the customer a bid for installing a receptacle at the front of the house. In the customer’s report they stated “I frankly expected more from someone who specializes in this,” but we have no idea of what else we could have done since we located every electrical problem in their house and gave them a detailed report about it. We did all this for $89, which is the exact Big Deal price that the customer signed up for before we came to their house. Yet, the customer graded our price an “F” even though that was the price they were quoted beforehand. And a “D” for quality....why? How could we have done a better quality job since we did exactly what was needed and wrote up a detailed report? They gave us a “C” for responsiveness…why? We scheduled the appointment right away and answered every question and comment they had immediately. And why a “C” for punctuality? We came exactly on time and as scheduled, so how could we have been more punctual? I feel that none of the poor grades they gave us are warranted in any way whatsoever. I’m completely confident, too, that we gave the customer a great value for their money, and that we provided highly professional service in a very timely manner. At The Electric Connection we always try to use any criticism to improve. With this particular customer, though, I have no idea of what their motivation was for writing this report or how we could have done a better job.

Great service from start to finish. Company saved me time and trouble by not insisting on an appointment for an estimate in advance. Rather, they offered set prices for standard installation types. The service personnel arrived on time, wrote up a complete estimate before starting work, and the final price was within the estimate at the end of the job. I was very pleased when the service personnel offered to stay late to complete the job in one day and not require me to schedule a second work day; in all, they stayed 11 hours. I was very impressed with the design sense of the service personnel when it came to locating lighting fixtures and light switches. They were exceptionally neat and successfully went out of their way to minimize the necessary holes in walls and ceilings for added electrical fixtures. Overall, if every service speciality included a provider identical to this one (The Electric Connection), much, much more home improvement would be ordered by homeowners. Thanks, Angie's List, for an entirely hassle-free home improvement experience with great results.
Description of Work: New electrical outlets, light fixtures, and switches were installed in locations where there had been none. Outlets were indoors and outdoors. Light fixtures were both recessed and surface mount.

We knew that we had an issue with the electric and knew at some point we would have to rewire the house. We have been here for four years and finally bit the bullet. We called The electric connection because they were well reviewed on Angie's List and rewiring houses is actually one of their specialties. They were GREAT! We were expecting to pay somewhere around $7k - 10K based on what we had read and conversations with friends. They actually did the work for around $5,500 and then pointed out that our house was not grounded properly. They cleaned up the panel and replaced 3 ceiling fans, a kitchen light, dining room light, doorbell and bathroom fan. The best part was ERNIE and his team were like family. They were there for a week and always smiling. They patched up the small holes they put into the walls (only when needed and very small) which we knew they would have to do. We would have them back for to do work. Hugo who gave us the estimate was great as well. It has been a year but I can still remember their names. That's the impression they made on us. Thanks Again!

The crew was extremely punctual and professional and, as far as I can tell, did good, neat work. They did a very good job communicating the work in advance and keeping me in the loop as additional issues developed. My one complaint is that the person who gave us the estimate did not want to go into the crawl space to take a closer look, which, in hindsight, might have given us a more accurate estimate by about $1,000. That was disappointing. That said, I still would definitely recommend the Electric Connection and will use them again.

Easy to schedule an appointment, the electrician arrived on time and was able to come the next day. The original electrical outlet I wanted to fix was shut off at the junction box, he gave me options for putting in an outlet somewhere else if I didn't want to go through a larger repair job. Told me what to expect in terms of where he would have to open up the wall and what kind of patching job it would be. Did the work in 3 hours. Kept the place as clean as he could. And then let me use a first time customer coupon so the entire thing cost me $100. He gave me an exact estimate of cost for my next project - I will be using them again to switch out lighting and bath fans.

They get kudos for politeness, punctuality and communicating professionally. Excellent marks for that. The pricing was reasonable -- not excellent and not terrible. Where I'm not satisfied is the quality of work performed. I can replace electrical fixtures myself but I draw the line at doing work that is exposed to weather. My last do-it-yourself ultimately required getting aquarium sealants to ensure that water won't be getting in to create a hazardous situation. Works but its amateurish. That's why I wanted a pro. They lost the washers that came with the fixture and I had to root around in my stuff until I found one that nearly matched (lost points on that). They somehow manage to loose the screws that came with the fixture (I was told that they were too short but they never showed the screws to me). The replacements were gaudy bolt-like shiny silver screws that stick way out and clash with the black finish (lost more points). Finally, they sealed it with something that looked exactly like clear aquarium sealant (lost way too many points). I appreciate that they treat their customer nicely and show up when they said they will, but the end product was exactly the reason I did not want to do the job myself. It was amateur work. I took their estimate for the additional work but I will not be calling on them again. One additional plus I can give them, however, is that they did not try to up the price by suggesting unnecessary additional repairs to the light fixture.
Description of Work: I had the following two items for them: (1) Replace an outside light fixture. (2) Provide an estimate for extending pre-existing outside wiring by another 20 ft.

Response from The Electric Connection
The light was installed on an uneven surface, and since no gasket came along with the fixture, we needed to use a sealant in order to secure it. The screws that came with the fixture wouldn't work because they were too short, and as a result we were unable to match the customized color of the fixture screws. We understand the importance of customer satisfaction, and we always strive to give our customers a high quality product. Unfortunately, in this case the light fixture provided by the customer didn't come with the proper parts. We did our best to use spar parts from our truck to install his light fixture. We called the customer to let him know that we were sorry that he was not happy with the installation, and we offered to re-install it for him if he could provide us with a gasket and screws that match the fixture. However, despite 3 follow-up calls on our part, he's never called us back to schedule.

I did not have the company do an estimate since they did not arrive within the two hour window that we agreed upon.
Description of Work: I made an appointment with the company to come to my house and give me an estimate for some electrical work. The appointment was set from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. As a homeowner and apartment owner, I use many companies for various projects, and so I know that there are often missed appointments or delays from these companies. So, I called them at 12:30 PM to confirm my appointment. I spoke with Luis who told me that they would most likely be at my house around 2:30 PM. Around 2:45 PM, Luis left message on my voicemail that Hugo would be at my house at 3:00 PM. No one arrived at 3:00 PM so I again called the company to check what happened. Luis said that he "thought" they the person was on their way so that is why he said that he would be here by 3:00 PM but he did not actually speak with that person. I asked him where this person was and he did not know. I then told him to cancel my appointment. As I was leaving the house at 3:25 PM to go to run some errands, the technician showed up. I told him that I was not comfortable with him or the company because of the bad experience I had with the office and their inability to have someone come at the prescribed time-a two hour window that was agreed upon. I will not use this company.

At 2:38 p.m. we let the customer know that we would be arriving closer to 3:00 p.m., and we arrived at 3:18 p.m. There was heavy traffic on the freeway and then road construction near the customer's house. As a result, we were forced to take an alternate route. This type of situation very rarely happens with our job scheduling, and we're sorry for any inconvenience that we might have caused.

Absolutely perfect service in every respect. If only all service providers/sub-contractors were this competent, generous with their time, professional, honest, pleasant and easy to work with. From Louis and everyone on the phone to Robert who came out, this was impeccable service. Robert was the guy who not only mentioned that he thought there might be crawl/attic space available to run cable (from the cable company) so it wouldn't look unruly lying on the floor (we'd just had hardwood floors installed so it had been loosened from under carpet), but suggested I contact the cable company in case they'd do it free of charge. We checked and determined that using E.C. was our best bet, which it was. So glad to have that cable gone. As for the change in the wall of the electrical outlet, he did a quick, beautiful job. Our only delay on recessed lighting is the expense, but we'll no doubt do it soon. They even recommended that we get our own fixtures to save on an unavoidable markup if they were to supply them. What more could you ask for? Needing an electrician is almost something to celebrate with these guys!!
Description of Work: The initial call was to 1) change the access to an electrical outlet form one side of the wall to the other (of the same wall); and 2) get an estimate on recessed lighting in our living room. As it turns out, the work completed thus far was 1) changing the location of the electrical outlet and 2) running some cable through an attic/crawl space. We'll likely do the recessed lighting down the road a bit.

I bought a house that needed kitchen outlets, outside outlets, and outside lights. I found EC on Angie's List. They came out exactly when they said to provide an estimate, then came out exactly when they said to do the work. I added some additional items when they were here, which they were able to complete as well. They also had a great suggestion about making one of my two outside outlets (for attaching holiday lighting) "switched," so I could turn off those lights from a switch inside the house. A simple suggestion. A great idea. They left the place clean, orderly, with everything working perfectly.

I have used The Electric Connection many times in the past. They are always prompt and courteous and get the job done right. This time I called with various lighting issues. A timer for my front porch light was not working and I wanted it replaced. Also one of the landscape lights wasn't working, which had to be rewired for a the proper type of light. I also had them replace a switch for the ceiling fan/light combo in one of the bedrooms. They are on the expensive side, but I'd rather pay a little more to ensure high quality electric work.

I found the provider on Angie's List originally and phoned them for an estimate two weeks ago. The same day I rang them back and scheduled an appointment for today. They arrived a few minutes past 8 AM, having given me an 8 AM - 10 AM window when we oriiginally spoke on the phone. The individuals who did the work were pleasant, quick and professional. The work took a bit of troubleshooting, but they charged me their (30 minute) minimum charge of $79. A $25 coupon from Angie's List brought the total down to $54. They were gone by 9:15.

The technician was prompt and worked very efficiently, mostly outdoors in the rain. He explained each item to me before he did it, answered all my questions, and got my permission before going ahead with each item. The only negatives were that the whole job took somewhat longer than expected (adding to the hourly charge), and when he finished, he he suggested that I purchase a whole-house circult breaker from his company. On the whole, a good experience and I would use this company again.

Before he even took my name or made an appointment, Louis told me which smoke detector (brand & model #) I should go buy at the hardware store because it would be cheaper than getting it from them. The team at Electric Connection have been completely fantastic -- the $400 is for two site visits, each lasting upwards of 90 minutes, plus several lengthy phone calls. In short, they've come to our complex and helped us decipher a confusing set of conduits and meters belonging to multiple tenants. They've taken the time to explain to a couple of complete novices exactly what's going on, and they've suggested a range of potential solutions to the problem, giving the pros and cons of each. In short, totally excellent - would highly recommend!
Description of Work: We've had them come to our building twice in order to help us figure out which meters, conduits, etc belong to which tenants. Not quite a full service - they didn't (yet) make any changes to the existing electrical situation - but more than a brief eyeball estimate. In total, about three hours of analysis and detective work.
