I needed an outside outlet in my backyard. I saw that this contractor was running a special on installation. I called them to set up an appointment and it took 3 calls to finally get someone to call me or email me back. They were very pleasant on the phone. We set up an appointment for the install. I didn't receive a "day before appointment warning". The work van for "The Electric Connection", it looked professional and fully loaded with tools and products. The installers showed up on time at my house which was perfect. They were well dressed with company logo's on their t-shirts. They were very helpful about talking to me about alternatives to my old house. They told me what they can do and what they can't. They did a professional install and in a short amount of time.

We're happy to hear that this customer was pleased with the job we did. It seems there's some confusion about us not getting back to him quickly because we emailed him immediately and left messages for him, and yet we didn't hear back from him right away. Providing a prompt response time along with excellent customer service is of top priority to us, and we always strive to deliver this to our customers each and every time.

We needed two new dedicated outlets for a new tankless water heater and sump pump in our basement. Described the work and the run lengths to the panel over the phone and was provided with a reasonable estimate by Luis. Scheduled work for the same week and they were at the house right on time. Luis reviewed the existing situation and required loads and was able to install the outlets we needed without the more complicated work we discussed over the phone - saved us half the estimated cost. Great workmanship, very clean install, quality! We've got an old house that needs a lot of work and we think we've found our go-to electricians.

I emailed Luis and sent images of my electrical panel. He helped me choose and order the Level II unit through Amazon. Initially the unit was not available. After the unit arrived, one phone call was all I needed to schedule the installation, and the technician arrived at the promised time. The work was done efficiently, and cleanly. Cost was as estimated and below alternative bids. In fact, a neighbor also used this vendor on my recommendation and was very happy with the service and cost. I would definitely use the Electric Connection for future services. The location in Tujunga was convenient for where I reside.

We received a competitive bid on the installation of recessed lights from the Electric Connection and ordered service. Service was scheduled within a couple of days from the request. I wasn't able to be home for the installation, but had a friend there in my place. My friend is very demanding and critical of service providers. I was thrilled to see what a beautiful job they had done installing the lights and that the areas requiring painting were tiny in comparison to what we expected. On top of the great work, my friend specifically asked that I contact the Electric Connection to let them know that he was very impressed by the work & professionalism of the team. A glowing review from my friend who is so quick to criticize prompted my to write this review.

Technician Manny arrived on time and did the job in a timely and professional manner. Besides that, he pointed out that the existing electrical system in our 1925 home consisted of old-fashioned, potentially hazardous cloth-insulated knob-and-tube wiring. He further told us that our 3-prong receptacles were not grounded. We are very happy to that Manny informed us about these issues as the electrician that had worked on the receptacles before him had been silent about the deficient wiring. He then advised us how to fix the problems. It always pays to hire a professional who knows his/her job, loves it and thinks ahead. Since then, we have hired the Electric Connection again for additional jobs.

Unfortunately this company proved to be unprofessional and less than honest. The tech did not seem to know why he was there and once he was informed began to upcharge me from the original quote. Specifically: Once they got there the electrian indicated that the outlet did not need to be upgraded because the existing dryer required only 120v. The tenant had to call me and get me on the phone to explain to the tech that the upgrade was for a new appliance (which I had already explained to the person who gave me the quote). He then began to try to explain why it was going to cost more than the quote. However, everything he mentioned I had already discussed with the person who gave me the quote. The person who gave me the quote had originally explained that I could "just pull the wires through" and that would be a less expensive option but would leave me without a 120v outlet. He explained that the more expensive option was to run a new line and we discussed all this would entail. I explained the exact set up and configuration of the washer/dryer relative to the electrical control box. We agreed on a price. After the tech arrived and began to try to raise the price, I called the company and spoke to the person who quoted the price to me. He indicated that he quoted me a price based on my saying the outlet was within a foot of the control panel. I absolutely did not say that. I reminded him that I explained exactly the configuration of the washer/dryer relative to the electrical control panel, and though he acknowledged and agreed that I did explain it in detail, he still insisted I told him it was a foot away and he quoted me based on that. However, "within a foot" is not compatible with the configuration of the outlet as I explained it. "Within a few feet" would be accurate. Ultimately, he tried to upcharge me based on his false claim that I said the outlet was one foot away from the control panel. Unprofessional and dishonest.
Description of Work: I asked for a quote to upgrade an outlet from 120v to 240v because I needed to purchase a new washer/dryer that required the additional voltage. I explained the location of the outlet relative to the electrical control panel (within a few feet) and he gave me a "in and out" quote of $275.

Response from The Electric Connection
We use a standard price book. When speaking with this customer, our office dispatcher used this book to estimate the price of installing a new outlet. Our agreement with all customers who want an over-the-phone quote is that we will do our best to estimate the price over the phone. When we actually see the job and it’s more complex and the price needs to be higher for some reason, the customer has no obligation to hire us to do the work. When our electrician arrived at the job, the location for the outlet was more difficult than our understanding of the customer’s description over the phone. The actual location required drilling and patching a hole in a wall. Using our standard price book resulted in a price $62 more than originally estimated. When our electrician explained this to the customer, she expressed her concern that we were trying to do some kind of “bait and switch” trick to get her to pay more than we originally quoted her. Per our policy, our electrician called our office to come up with a solution. Unfortunately I, the owner, was out of town and our field production manager was busy meeting an inspector on another job, so we were not able to successfully address her concerns. We called this potential customer the next business day to see if there was something we could do to fix the situation and also sent her a personal letter of apology. Since we charged her nothing and did not actually do any work for her, this was the best we could do.

As this report states we did a perfect job, so we’re not sure of why the customer gave us a B report. We even called her to make sure that everything was fine, and it was. We also asked her if she had any type of feedback for any improvements that we could have made, and she had none. We were hoping that she would have given us a better grade since she was completely satisfied, and it’s disappointing that she didn't since we did our very best. At The Electric Connection, 100% customer satisfaction is always our top priority.

This customer's house is in IRVINE, CA. We are always happy to give free electrical help and advice to anyone who calls us. However we are a Los Angeles based company, and we only do work in Los Angeles and other cities in Los Angeles County. Whatever misunderstanding happened here, the fact is that we never do work in Irvine, CA, which is where this customer lives.

Messaged for service quote, and Kim responded promptly. Looking to hire an electrician to replace all our mismatched outlets & switches (that we will be providing). Rough estimate is priced a bit higher than competitors, at $20 per device. However, Kim explained that they will also re-do the splicing in the wiring inside the junction boxes as needed to ensure that the devices are properly connected. They also guarantee the connections to all the receptacles and switches that they install for life. I appreciate the upfront quote, & explanation for the cost. Also, the lifetime guarantee is a perk & peace of mind. Did run into some moving delays, but will be contacting the company next month to followup on the electrical work

the electricians arrived very close to promised time. I had a long list of things I needed done. I live alone and have NO electrical skills. Work included installing ground fault detectors in 2 bathrooms, replacing a circuit breaker that was bad, installing some teeny light bulbs in cabinets that I just couldn't do and fixing the lights in my range hood. They were cheerful, knowledgeable, showed me every item they replaced and pointed out where old hardware had been shorting out. I will definitely use them again.

I know my husband was very pleased. He was very happy about their promptness, about their communication, about when they were coming and they came the time they were supposed to. They didn't stand outside our gate and assumed it was locked and leave. It was done quickly and efficiently. They didn't leave any mark in the wall or the exterior. They did a very precise job, there was no further work that we had to do to kind of see the job was done. They provided the type of cover that we wanted because you could put a plug in and have the cover still be able to close which was an issue with another provider we use who put in a different type of cover which has to remain open which could be a hazard.

People I dealt with are: Bob, Kim (office), and Romero and Julio (field - hope I got their names right!) My experience actually started when I called to ask about prices, etc. Usually in Angie's listings, I've found that if a name of a person is listed under the company name, it tends to be the owner - especially if the company is smaller. For EC, Bob's name was listed so I assumed he was the owner. When I called, the initial person transferred me to Bob, and when I explained what I wanted, he told me I should speak to Kim about my needs. I assumed this was the owner transferring me to someone who handles the day-to-day details. I explained to Kim what I wanted, and it went on to various topics of which this person spent what was probably 15-20 minutes explaining a lot. I was shocked someone would spend this much time with someone who hasn't even agreed to spend a cent with them yet. Normally it's the opposite, even when you are already paying. After the conversation, he said he would be transferring me back to Bob. I told Kim I don't need to speak to the owner...at which point he mentioned he was the actual owner! So I didn't realize all that time the owner was taking the time to answer all sorts of questions. To me, this doesn't happen often today. Especially for an established company that has been around a while. Many companies say the customer comes first but rarely shows it. This was a refreshing experience. When Romero and Julio came out, they were very curteous and...thoughtful. I took my shoes off entering the house because we have a young child that is on the carpet a lot so I try and keep it as clean as possible for now. They saw me do that and mentioned they can get indoor booties to wear. I told them not to worry, it's a "me" issue yet they still spent the time to run to the van can grab some booties. That was great to see. The job was very simple but so far so good - and no hidden costs. What they told me is what it was. Waiting still on the mailed copy of the estimate and we're trying to decide if we want recessed lighting still vs. other options but I'll definitely use them again on that job or others I have in mind. Short experience - but great so far.

They did an excellent job of installing a new electrical panel so that we could have A/C and Heating installed in our older home. They also put in a couple new lines into the kitchen so that we could run all of our appliences (microwave, elecrical teapot, electric grill, etc.) at the same time without the breaker tripping. The only thing they did that was not perfect was they also installed a new bath exhaust fan which was a very quite model but it sounded too loud. I had to get get up in the attick to modify the installation in order to have the fan run quietly. Otherwise we were happy with the job.

If you live a nice home, watch out-prices may rise. At first, I was very impressed with Electrical Connections responsiveness and courteousness. I was telephonically quoted a price to perform the work and given a range between $850-$1100, which was higher than another telephonic bid I got from another Angies' list electrician earlier in the day of $550-$850. But I like to get multiple bids, so I proceeded. I gave them my address so that they could come out and formulate a proper bid. To my surprise, they were able to meet me at my house in 30 minutes. Naturally, i was delighted and impressed. Oddly, they called me back ten minutes later to confirm my address, asking twice for the address even though I had just given it to the scheduler. I confirmed the address and hung up. Five minutes later, I received a call informing me that they were mistaken about the estimate and that the price quoted earlier "was from the wrong price sheet" and that the new range was $1500-$1800. You see, I live in a large home and it seemed that the price changed, once them mapped my home for directions. I find it hard to believe that their estimator used the wrong "pricing sheet". We spoke for about 5 minutes about the project and the potential subpanel amperage and the" ins and outs"of different amperage. When the guy called back about the price change, I told him that it was hard to believe that the price changed so quickly and that he probably saw my house and realized the quote was too low. He denied this. I was so upset/mad at this point, I told him that I didn't want to do business with The Electric Connection. When I got home, there was a message from the owner of the company apologizing for the mix-up but saying "I don't know what you want me to do" but he did not offer to honor their original quote range. I appreciate his call, but my trust has been compromised and no remedy was offered for their mistake. I suppose it's possible that the estimator was reading from the wrong price sheet but I highly doubt it.

Response from The Electric Connection
We always charge the same price for each job no matter who the customer is or where they live. This customer called our office and requested a quote over the phone, and we gave him a ballpark price. As he mentioned in his report, we were able schedule an appointment to meet him at his house within 30 minutes of his call to give him an exact price in writing. When we spoke with him over the phone, we initially thought he needed a less expensive type of panel than the type of panel that was required. Within 15 minutes of his phone call, we discovered that the price we gave him was inaccurate. We immediately called him back and told him about the pricing error BEFORE WE EVER ARRIVED AT HIS HOME. We apologized for our mistake, and asked him if he would still like us to go out to his house to give him an exact price. As he stated in his report, when we explained what had happened he immediately accused us of knowing where he lived and said that the “price changed so quickly” because “we probably saw his house and realized the quote was too low,” which is completely untrue. We never saw his house, and even if we had seen it we would never use something like that as a basis for our pricing. All of our pricing is fixed and pre-set according to the exact type of work that needs to be done. It seems that this customer became so upset and mad at us because he did not want to pay for the actual cost of the job. He even went so far as to imply that the original price we gave him was higher than another phone bid he got from another Angie’s List electrician, which is highly unlikely. At The Electric Connection we always strive to provide excellent service along with fair pricing. We scheduled a free estimate for this customer in a very timely manner, and we tried to work with him to give him an accurate price in writing for the job, but he was not interested.

The Electric Connection were competent and did everything they were supposed to do. Where I had a disagreement with them was that from the relay going to all of the breakers to match up that they turned off in the rooms. The guy that gave me the quote, I had that discussion with him and said I wanted them all, like relays in case some of the older ones weren't correct - you know how they have all of the breakers labelled? And so the guy that was here said that he'd copy the thing down from the old one, so I did go through that with him to label some of them but we still had two that we couldn't identify and they said they couldn't identify them. So, the way my husband said it, it's like one thing controls things in multiple rooms so literally it does take quite a bit of time, but in terms of, so that's kind of where I had the differing point with them. But then I did have an issue where, I had a bad lamp that blew a circuit. I called them because the power was out, and they tried to talk me through resetting the breakers and I guess I flipped them the wrong way, and they said they couldn't get somebody out here for like a week and so I said could you please help me and they did end up sending somebody the same day. So that was a good thing about them and their responsiveness. And they didn't charge me for that particular call.

The guys at Electric Connection are top notch professional!! They had come out to my home approx. a month ago to install a GFCI bubble outlet for my new above ground pool. Well the outlet stopped working, so I thought. I called and emailed in a panic due to having an upcoming BBQ pool party. I contacted them and they made an appointment to come out to help me. They arrived right on time and got right to work. It turned out that my kids splashed too much and the GFCI did EXACTLY what is was suppose to do it tripped it self OFF. SAFETY...SAFETY.. but what we also learned was that due to the bubble cover having to contend with splashing children the tech adjusted the bubble cover to better fit the two filter hoses. He tested and retested everything and got it back working...pool party, clean water SAVED by ELECTRIC CONNECTION. The techs were very professional and I would definitely recommend them in the future to anyone.

I called on a Tuesday to get a ceiling fan replaced, they were able to get someone out to me just two days later, on Thursday. I was given a 2 hour window and received a call about half an hour before the electrician arrived to let me know he was on his way. The electrician, Sergio A., arrived just when they said he would, looked at the existing fan, and then brought up his tools, ladder, and drop cloth. He was very careful with my bed, which was right under the fan. He removed the old fan, checked the wiring, and assembled and installed the new fan. He was nice and professional and finished in about half an hour. I will absolutely call Electric Connection again next time I need an electrician. It was a small job but knowing it was done right gave me great peace of mind.

It took them a while but they did find the problem and fixed it. Unfortunately, I put in Air Conditioning the same time the previous provider did the work on the garbage disposal and lights so all the connections had to be looked at. I am extremely happy with the crew that the Electric Connection sent out - they were thorough, professional and discovered a difficult to find problem area. I am also happy with the cost of the service and would be happy to recommend them for any electrical work.
Description of Work: Every time I turned on my garbage disposal, my kitchen lights would brighten for a second. A previous provider did work on my garbage disposal and installed ceiling lights (last year) and apparently did not ground it properly, making it a potential fire hazard. Electric Connection team checked all my connections and found the problem area.
