Ma'am, You are confusing us with another company. We did not do any work at all on your property. We did not even give you a bid. After meeting with you and viewing the project we politely declined to do the job.

All went according to plan and even better. Since the footing was reusable, the total cost went down from the initial quote. Price was very fair, even at the initial higher quote.

My husband and I relied on Angie?s List to locate a mason to build a new concrete block wall in our back yard. Jeff Miller Masonry popped up first during our search. He was A-rated all the way. Since this project involved two other neighbors, I had contacted them to gain their approval and agreement to this project. We then contracted with Jeff Miller Masonry to build the new wall in our back yards. In all, the wall was about 75-feet long. The existing wooden wall was so old and terribly termite-damaged that even the termites didn?t visit it anymore! Jeff and his wife Carole arrived on time for a free estimate. They were both very friendly and outgoing people and took their time with all of our questions. Jeff has a long history of masonry work, having learned the trade from his father, ?a perfectionist? according to Jeff. The written e-mail estimate arrived within their prescribed timeframe. And the demo work was begun. Once the old wall and some concrete pillars were removed, the new wall seemed to build itself. All the people that Jeff had working for him were really hard workers. They were pleasant to have around. No complaints about Jeff?s guys. Daily clean-up was done at the end of the work day. And the final result: All three of us neighbors are VERY pleased with the new wall, which will be standing long after I (the writer of this review) am gone!!! We are Happy Campers!!! Thanks to you both, Jeff and Carole!!! Your work is excellent!!! And you are also both excellent people!

What a lovely report! You and your two neighbors were very pleasant to work for. There are so many times that neighbors quarrel about shared/property line structures. The 3 of your were so nice and accommodating to each other. And us. Very refreshing. Getting along with your neighbors is so important. It's not often talked about, but it makes a big difference in your living environment. We are so happy you are pleased! Jeff and Carole
This is the second time we have worked with Jeff and Carole. We could not recommend them more highly. First, Jeff (and his workmen) are not only outstanding craftsman but he is also has great design skills as well. Jeff came to our house three times before the work started, he helped with sample materials and just really guided us beautifully. (In this area, you might want to consider keeping the mortar joints a little closer. I think that will give you more of the look you are after...") Jeff also saved us money. The sales person at the stone yard wanted us buy the thicker (a/k/a/ more expensive) pavers for the driveway but Jeff pointed out that was necessary for commercial driveways and we wouldn't need those. When it came time to select the stone for the front walk (a beautiful, free-form green flagstone "Seascape"), Jeff personally went to the stone yard to mark the specific palette of material he wanted. Jeff explained, "In this front area, the larger pieces will look much better than if we use the smaller ones." Jeff just handled the whole installation in the most professional manner. - Sprinkler pipes where we didn't expect them? No problem, we can re-work those. I've got the tools and parts in my truck. We?ll pressure test as well before we cover anything up?just to be sure?. - Rebar in the driveway where we didn't expect it? No problem, I'll get a bigger jack hammer and haul it away...just takes a few more days than we planned. - Stone yard delivered the wrong Mexican Beach Pebbles? No problem. We'll call them and make all the arrangements This is the kind of dream team you get when you work with Jeff and Carole. Carole handled all of the coordination seamlessly. They shopped for the lowest priced material for us then arranged to get all of the paperwork from the yards (we had two sources) and made everything just really easy. Once we got the paperwork done, Carole did all of the scheduling and just made everything happen flawlessly. In the end, we got more than we expected in terms of the finished product and the team we worked with just sets the standard for professionalism.
Description of Work: We had our entire 3 car driveway redone with pavers. We also had the front walk from the house to the street removed and replaced.

Carole and Jeff were a pleasure to work with from the very start. Jeff came out, reviewed my property and the scope of work and very quickly put together a bid. His prices were reasonable and comprehensive. My house is nearly 100 years old, so there were additional "surprises" during the project. Jeff and his team were nimble and flexible. The project included breaking up an old front walk and stairs, removal of the old wood decking while supporting the roof of the covered porch, building a stairs along the front elevation, wrapping the sides in brick, cutting a new front path, and replacing a section of retaining wall, doing a smooth coat on the retaining wall. It was extensive. Though there were additional costs, he and Carole put together additional costs quickly. I am very, very happy with how the project turned out.
Description of Work: Jeff replaced my front porch with a concrete one, new access stairs and removed and relocated my front walk.

I got four bids for the retaining wall and Jeff's bid was the best and I was most confident with his presentation and knowledge. He's prompt, hard-working, and friendly. I could tell from talking to him that he's very meticulous about his work. While making the estimate, he gave me several ideas and we discussed creating step-downs in the wall to better suit my yard and match the other walls in my yard. Because this was difficult for me to visualize, Jeff assured me that he would do a mock up of the wall and we could adjust to my taste. I arranged the start date with his wife, Carol, who a pleasure to deal with. She emailed me a very straight forward and minimal one page contract. Jeff showed up promptly and began work. He and his workers worked hard to demolish the existing concrete wall and dig out footings. They took great care with my lawn and plants and with the neighbor's property. I saw them measure and remeasure to ensure that each section of the wall was level. After I made a couple of adjustments, they again remeasured and double-checked their work. Jeff was meticulous and thought about the project carefully. Every night when they finished work, they cleaned up so beautifully that you wouldn't know that anyone had been working. Jeff had the idea to tint the stucco close to the same color as my house and existing wall. That way, if the new stucco gets chipped, the chip will not show. Jeff put on two coats of stucco and, in some places, three coats. For no extra charge, Jeff patched some stucco elsewhere. The wall looks like it has always been there and matches the other walls in my yard perfectly in terms of height, width and step-downs. The job went very smoothly and I could not have asked for more. Having used about 10 different contractors in the past year for plumbing, electrical, general repair and building, Jeff was the BEST.

Hi [member name removed], Thank you for such a glowing report! Meticulous. is a good word to describe Jeff. He really cares about the quality of his work, and we are always delighted to get compliments. It's too bad AL doesn't have a category for restoration. JMMf would have many reports in that category. It's very hard to tell where Jeff's work begins and the existing work ends, That's the sign of a true artisan. We glad you are pleased with the work. You were a wonderful client. btw. Jeff is a very experienced contractor, very personable, and you could tell he loves his work. He and his wife run a great business. Prices were reasonable. Overall, I am very happy with the final product. Jeff even took the time to search for 1920's bricks so that the brick edging around my new concrete patio would match the age of my house and the other concrete work in my yard. It's been two years since Jeff finished and all of the work is holding up beautifully, with no visible cracking. Thanks, Jeff.

We didn't think that the water feature was salvageable, but he saved it! He was very easy to work with and was very willing to do exactly what we wanted done. He did is own research on raccoon living habits to better address our concerns of losing fish to these critters in the future.
Description of Work: The concrete fountain needed much repair and Jeff Miller and crew removed the old concrete liner and replaced it with a smooth water-resistant material. The base was cracked and parts of it had rebar exposed. Jeff saved the original water feature because he was able to adhere the pieces together and the cracks were hardly visible. He cleared out the water tubing and installed a water pump.

Jeff Miller is a true artist in masonry. The brick patio utilizes the best used bricks he could obtain, set in a pleasing basket-weave pattern on a concrete base and leveled ever so slightly in such a way that water drains to a nearby drain. More: We wanted to save a camilla in one corner. Jeff set off the plant with a lovely S-shaped curving form adding interest and visual appeal to the patio. He even gave us many extra used bricks to set off planted areas in the front yard. Jeff's pricing was exceedingly fair, perhaps even less than he could have charged for the work that was entailed in the projects. He is a hands-on contractor, working alongside his men. They accomplished the two jobs in short order, and left the area clean. All our guests the past month have been impressed with the patio. We give Jeff Miller rave reviews!

Jeff did a good job making sure all was aligned well and the location and proportion of the planters were exactly where we wanted them. He did not schedule enough time to finish the job and had other projects that were a priority. Jeff came back days later to finish up and he was in a hurry, not having all the materials and failed to seal the stones from the outside (he ran out of the material and said he was not coming back to finish as it was alright). He told me what to buy in order to finish it myself, but they sell this tan mortar mix in 50 lb bags which I can't carry .. don't need this much material either. So it stayed unfinished - it's not horrible but not perfect either. Overall he did a good job.

Dear [member name removed], I was shocked at your report. I have never received all B's' from any AL client. That may be fine for some, but not to me. I want to address each of your comments, as none of them are correct. Your job was completed over ½ year ago, This is the first time I have heard there was a problem with the work. Your planters were built with garden-type pavers. Typically these blocks are not grouted on the top, exterior, or interior at all. However, as these were going to be raised planters, we decided to plaster the to stop water seepage. Our contract included plastering the INTERIOR of the planters only, NOT the EXTERIOR. As we had some extra mortar left over, I grouted a few of the exterior joints, at your request, at NO CHARGE, as a courtesy to you. It didn't take long and was no big deal. I used up the rest of the material, I did not "run out of it" Then, when you told me that you wanted to plaster ALL The EXTERIOR joints, I told you what materials to purchase so you could grout them yourself. Had you been willing to pay an add-on fee for exterior plastering then we would have done so, but not for free. The labor would have taken the better part of a day, not including purchasing more materials. I would NEVER leave a job unfinished. Regarding your comments of "not scheduling enough time" and" having other projects that were a priority." I recall that around that time, we were very busy. However, I built the planters precisely and perfectly, as I do on every project. Your project was given the same attention to detail as every other job. I do not “rush” a project. My standards are quite high and I never compromise any work that I do. EVERY job is a priority. I did not schedule incorrectly. We spent extra time changing the layout 3 times for you (as your first contractor built the planters crooked) and then re-dug the planters and footings to your specifications. When I bid $1,375 I expected the job to take 2 days, not 3. I did not charge extra for the additional time, and I could not do it consecutively. I came back as soon as I could to complete the work. All that being said, If there is any interior area of the planters that is not to your satisfaction I will come back and take care of it, I want you to be happy, bottom line. Jeff Miller

Hi Michael, Thanks for submitting this report. We only do high quality work, and so are usually not the cheapest Our prices fall more into the higher range of the pricing spectrum, but we are usually not the highest price either. We feel that we provide the highest quality for a reasonable price. Most of our reports from clients say that got more than their money's worth. some say they got at least they got their money's worth, None say they didn't get their money's worth. Had you hired us, I have no doubt that you would have rated us an A or at least a B regarding price.had you hired us. We look forward to working with you sometime in the future. Best, Carole & Jeff

[member name removed], When we last spoke e we had just poured the concrete a couple of days prior. At that time you mentioned that you thought the color was too light. I told you that we needed to wait 30 days for the concrete to cure, and than we could come back and apply a gray stain so it would darken the color if you wanted. You can always stain concrete darker, you can't lighten it. And no matter what you do,e a newly poured apron and several sidewalk squares. will never match exactly a concrete sidewalk built over 75 years ago We have never received all B's before. We have only a few B's, in 6 years on AL. And never more than one B on any given report. Maybe some companies are happy with B's. but not us. Jeff is a master mason, doing this for 30 years, B's are not acceptable to him. Or me. We poured this almost 2 months ago, and we never hear back from you till I saw this report. Why did you not call us after the concrete cured? We can't know if you don't tell us. We have almost 100 reports, we stand by our work. We want every client to be satisfied.and happy. We would have gladly come back to stain the new concrete. And we are still willing to come back now. All you have to do is call me and I will schedule it. Carole

Jeff and his team did a great job of taking out a 100sq. ft. broken, old section of my garage floor and repouring new concrete. After it had cured a few weeks, some additional grinding was needed to create a downward slope out of the garage, to prevent water intrusion in case of heavy rain, which they came back and did at no additional charge. On both visits, they left everything nice and clean when they were done. They were very professional and thorough, and I definitely recommend Jeff Miller Masonry.

Hi [member name removed], Thanks so much for submitting the report. You covered all the bases. We're glad we hit a home run for you :) Carole & Jeff
This review was months in the making as I kind of forgot and also want to base the review on how the job has held up over time (i.e., any cracking, bricks popping, etc.). A good six months have passed and the job looks great. I honestly cannot list all the things that he had done to accomplish the above, but I can promise it was a huge undertaking that involved a few months of work! Jeff is a super nice guys and very easy to get along with. I have recommended him to all the neighbors and friends. If I could add pictures I would as words can't do justice. He has a very artistic eye and attention to detail. He didn’t just slap up a wall with cheap cinder blocks ... we used high-end retaining wall block with a very nice design/flow element that all incorporate stairs, paths, benches, and fire pits. Great, job, thanks Jeff. Sorry it took 6 month to complete the review ... but this just adds more legitimacy to how good a job you did. thanks man!
Description of Work: Built 5 retaining walls on tiered property, reinforced steel concrete footing, leveled all terraces, landscape stone facade, incorporating planter boxes into wall, fire pits, incorporated stone benches into wall, artistic use of brick for paths and stairs, etc. High-end job with a very artistic eye. Jeff and Carole were great. Excellent communication from both. He was onsite every day and even though bulk of the job was in a dirt planting area along new sidewalks on Sepulveda, he and the crew were always positive and professional. Lot of traffic, noise and wind from morning to end of day. I found Jeff Miller Masonry through Angie's List and am very happy with the work performed and the price I paid. They were really good. They were quick. They got me the quote. The only bad thing is that, they only do quotes on Saturdays. It is good and it is bad, and it is good if I work all week long. He only comes out and does the quote, and they won't during the middle of week, which is good if I work a 9 to 5 job. So, it is not that big of a deal. I think I couldn’t do that first Saturday, so we wound up doing it the next Saturday. They are really nice, and he has apparently been in the business for years. I kind of want to use them but I have to get two other quotes. The price wasn’t bad. The insurance company said that they had approved his quote and told me to go get two more and we will go from there. He was very knowledgeable and knew what he was talking about. He was really good. The one thing that was a little bit kind of annoying is that it is hard to get a hold of them. I think they run it out of their house. He was on time here.
Description of Work: I have got a quote from them for repair of my cinder block wall. We are working on another one right now to replace this old one. I sent it to the insurance company in July that they just basically sat on and I just let go. So, this whole thing has just been reopened last month.

Jeff and Carole were fantastic! While some bidders said the whole wall needed to be rebuilt (for over $45,000), Jeff found a way to restore it for under $15,000. He used the highest quality materials, started and completed the work when he said he would and had a professional and respectful crew.
Description of Work: Rebuild and stucco a deteriorated retaining wall.
