Jeff Miller, a Los Angeles native, has over 35 years of masonry experience as a third generation mason. Jeff is an expert at creating new masonry to match existing masonry, fine restoration, and new masonry construction. We are a licensed, insured and bonded state of California masonry contractor. Please call us today for a free estimate.
Jeff was very professional, punctual, responsible, pleasant and the price was very fair. I had an excellent experience overall. He kept me apprised of how the project was going, how long each part would take, what obstacles were discovered and how he would deal with them. His solution to our particular driveway problem was creative, aesthetically pleasing and less expensive than what others had proposed. His brick work was beautiful. He and his crew worked very hard and the results were excellent. I would highly recommend Jeff and would certainly hire him again in the future. Thank you Jeff!
Description of Work: Our driveway is made of concrete and brick and has brick steps going down to it from the house and along the side. There were many parts that were cracked, falling apart and the tree roots had lifted and cracked a big part of the concrete. Jeff removed all the cracked concrete - a huge hard job that required hours and hours of sledgehammers and sweat! He then poured new concrete and replaced much of the brickwork. He matched all the bricks beautifully - and he had to drive around to many different brick yards to find the correct match. He fixed all the brick steps too. He finished the new concrete so it exactly matched the original. An excellent job! It took about 5 days.

We had a small but critical concrete repair needed in a high traffic area. The problem was in the doorway of a commercial walk-in cooler. We move heavy pallets through this door and over time, the threshhold had chipped away. Not the easiest place to fix. Jeff responded promptly to look at the problem and bid. His price was very reasonable. He worked the repair around our schedule, coming out on a holiday weekend so the concrete would have time to cure while the business was closed. At the time it looked like he did a great job, but the true test for me, was whether or not the repair would hold. After 2 months of near daily abuse, It has held perfectly. Jeff knows what he's doing and I would definitely use him again.
Description of Work: Concrete repair in a high traffic commercial environment.
This is the third time I have worked with Jeff and I appreciate his work on many levels. First of all, he was on site for the majority of the project and did the finish work himself. He has over twenty five years of experience and the construction aspects of the project are pretty much second nature to him now. He and his assistant, Ned, dug a foundation and put in securing metal bars in excess of what was required by building codes. The fun was in the design of the river rock surface. I had chosen the stones myself and although I lack any masonry skills, I work in a profession that requires visual appraisal and decision making so having opinions about the detail of what I see is second nature to me. In other words, I am a chronic kibbutzer weighed down by the fact that a rock wall is FOREVER. And that is perhaps what I appreciate most about Jeff: he understands and is immensely gracious and patient with my artistic participation. He not only takes considerable effort to explain to me what he is doing & why but he's willing to debate the pros and cons of a specific stone in a specific place and even redo something that distresses my eye. This makes the whole process fun and special for me and I look forward to working with him on many a future project. I also greatly appreciate his assistant's impressive neatness and attention to detail. As an example, I had stretched a hose out to a far flung plant and at the end of the day Ned did not coil it on its hook but took the trouble without my asking to re-lay it back to the plant where he had found it exactly along the path I had placed it. I was truly impressed. At the same time, I found construction waste that had been inadvertently put into the green yard waste container. I pointed it out to Jeff and it was immediately and happily corrected. The point here that if you are fussy about what you want, nothing beats staying directly involved with the project and that Jeff is very special in that he makes a point of being comfortable with a client doing just that.

Thank you so much for your wonderful and detailed report. It's reports like yours that are the reason so many Angie's List members become our clients. Besides the top notch quality that he provides, and his excellent design ideas, he is just a really nice down to earth guy who takes great pleasure in pleasing our clients. He will be very touched at your report. It is very rewarding to him to read such accolades of his work ethics, his attention to detail and perfection, and his calm and helpful demeanor. Both Jeff and his crew were very professional and trustworthy. All the work was done extremely well and in a timely manner. A phone call was promptly returned, questions were politely answered and suggestions were offered when needed. Jeff helped with procuring the materials at a better price and was here to receive the materials when delivered. Because the work was interrupted by the rain, Jeff or his wife would call to let us know they were not coming or when they were returning. Very courteous individuals. This company provided such good services that we will be using them again in the future once we select the materials that we need. I would unhesitatingly recommend them.
Description of Work: Install new brick landing at rear steps, add new brick steps at rear of house, and new brick walkway at side of house. Rear brick steps and all borders of brickwork were set on concrete. All other brickwork was set on compacted sand and roadbase. Additionally a mow strip was added to a spot on the side yard.

Jeff did a super job on the sidewalk. Helped out with locating a landscaper to advise about the trees and prune the roots as necessary. Contacted the city and met with the inspector (I had previously obtained the permit and contacted Urban Forestry Division). Jeff was prompt and professional at every turn.

Excellent! Jeff promptly responded within a day and was very patient through numerous scheduling conflicts on our end. He and his crew removed a cracked and leaning10+ft portion of concrete retaining wall and poured a new cement wall with steel supports in its place that was secured to the existing wall with steel supports as well. Additional steel and cement support was added to the rest of the existing wall as well. The job was done in two days and Jeff and his crew were very friendly, professional and neat throughout.

My property has masonry work which involves the "used" style bricks, meaning the bricks are treated to make it appear used, usually with splotches of paint on them. On top of that, the masonry work include bricks that were made decades ago, as well as bricks that were installed by the previous owner in a somewhat sloppy manner. My concern was that the new brick work should match the existing masonry work. Jeff did an amazing job of not only using bricks that look exactly like the old bricks, and making sure they match, but rebuilding the previous owner's sloppy work, and making it all look seamless. You can hardly tell which bricks are new and which were installed decades ago when the house was first built. The quality of the work is top notch, and Jeff's professionalism and communication made it a worry free, relaxing endeavor. Will use Jeff again when I do work on my backyard, and am glad to have him as a resource for masonry work.
Description of Work: Repaired, replaced, and rebuilt masonry work on front yard using bricks that match existing masonry work around the property. Masonry work included flower beds and walkways. Also patched up crack in driveway and replaced three bricks on an interior wall inside my house.

The project went seamlesssly thanks to Jeff's careful planning and experience. Jeff's price quote was middle of the road and very fair. I always do my price shopping. His atrtitude was professional, careing and intelligent. He also was thoughtfull in his suggestions to me and my wife so that when the job was done everything was symetrical and balanced. He was matching some existing walk-way areas and building wall lines. We could not be happier with Jeff's finished work and everything he did to get us to that point!!! THANKS JEFF!!! - John & Christy : )
Description of Work: Jeff and his helpers had to lower the dirt areas that were going to have rebar installed and concrete poured. They removed the dirt and graded the areas for proper drainage. We had some yard light wiring and sprinklers running through the area and Jeff capped off and relocated what need to be taken care of for us. (He is an all-inclusive service type of guy!) They set forms, poured the cement and "finished" the concrete to the type of surface we discussed. We have dogs so Jeff suggested that we not go with too deep of a broom finish so that the dogs "bathroom business" not get entrapped. So we took his suggestion and went with a smoother finish. We are happy he made that suggestion and we went with it! ALSO, we had a gate installed and the installer had knocked off some of our finished stucco wall. Jeff repaired the knocked out wall portion to a nice sand finish that restored the nice look that was there before the gate installation. We just need to get it painted, but thanks to Jeff that will now be a snap!

Jeff was initially easy to reach and came out quickly to look at the job. He was friendly, professional, and the board was impressed. He stated he would get us an official quote a few days. A few days came and went and nothing! A week came and went and nothing. I called him and left a message, but have not received any response. We're a bit confused especially considering all the great reviews on here!! He simply vanished.

I am a bit confused too. Perhaps there was some email or voice mail message that I never received. I really wish that you would have followed up with another phone call. If I do not hear from a potential client I assume that they are not interested. It is a misrepresentation to say that the work was completed when it never began. You are the first C I have ever received in any category in over 20 reports. As you mentioned I came out to the job very quickly after your initial call. I really wish you would have given me the benefit of the doubt and tried to contact me again. You are the first unhappy homeowner I have ever had and I do care very much about providing the very best client services. Sincerely, Jeff Miller

The project went smoothly from beginning to end. When contacted for an estimate, Jeff came out quickly and discussed various options and how these would affect the price. After comparing with other estimates, I decided he had the best approach to the project as well as a competitive price. The work was completed quickly. The project area was cleaned up on a daily basis. The end product was exactly what I had in mind. If I have another similar project in the future, I would definitely contact Jeff to do it.

Jeff's price for the concrete work was $300. The other estimates ranged from $500-$650. The workmanship was beautiful. His co-worker, Manny, even lugged the extra fill dirt to my backyard--3 stories above where they were working on the concrete! And Manny has energy to burn, so he pulled weeds during any downtime! Later they came ack and repaired about 5 places in my stucco that were cracked. We're already discussing more work in the future. If you need the type of work Jeff does--HIRE HIM!
Description of Work: Repaired concrete that was cut out for repiping. Repaired cracked stucco in 5 place on house.
If you are looking for someone to do masonry work or hardscaping - LOOK NO FURTHER. Jeff Miller is one of the best contractors I have ever worked with (I've owned my 1920s home for 20 years). Jeff is a third generation mason whose experience, expertise, professionalism and commitment to excellence is a rarity. Jeff was unbelievably helpful in helping us design our front patio area. His suggestions were insightful and always helpful. He gave us a very fair price and the quality of his work is astounding. Everyone is simply blown away by the detail and design of the brickwork. The stucco wall is finished in the exact unique texture of the stucco on our home. One great thing about jeff is his honesty and his eagerness to please. If we had small changes we wanted to make once something was completed, or additional touches, Jeff would give us a very reasonable estimate of how much the additional labor and materials would be. I didn't feel like I was being penalized for changing my mind, but that I was working with someone who understood my needs and was trying to do the best job possible. Jeff even included painting the wall (which wasn't in the bid) for no charge, as long as I provided the materials. Jeff really takes pride in his work and it shows. His crews were hard working and excellent and very helpful. They cleaned up every day. I didn't use a landscape contractor for this job (and thus saved a lot of money), and Jeff was very helpful about telling me what my needs might be (running electric into the wall, running a gas line for a barbeque under the patio) and helping to coordinate when the other workers would need to come to do their work so the job could proceed without delay. I cannot recommend Jeff highly enough. He really did a great job and was a pleasure to work with.
Description of Work: Jeff installed a 500 sq ft brick patio in front of our kitchen enclosed by a 42" high stucco on block wall. The wall has an attractive brick cap. The patio is basket weave brick in mortar with a brick ribbon. He built a landing and two steps (finished in brick) coming from the kitchen door onto the patio. He completely graded the area and removed and capped sprinklers and helped run pipes for underground drainage from downspouts.

He seemed really nice, but he wasn't licensed and we decided to with someone who was.
Description of Work: Jeff Miller gave me a quote for removing about 12 feet of broken sidewalk and replacing it and fixing a front cement wall that had been cracked in several places.
When I first met with Jeff the project was unclear in my mind and his suggestions provided me with valuable guidance. I am a "participatory" (high maintenance) client and Jeff was a genius at geniality. He explained his choices and techniques every step of the way. He is an artist in stone work and yet he responded immediately and positively if I requested an alteration in the layout. He was flexible in terms of dates and even allowed me to postpone a work day in the middle of the project. I hope to use him again and again. A treasure!

Thank you for the glowing report. You were a delight to work with and I'm glad you are pleased with the work. Best, Jeff
Jeff and his crew of 2 arrived every day on time; worked professionally and at the end of each day they thoroughly cleaned up the work and surrounding areas. Jeff's third generation mason expertise helped me formulate an attractive walkway for needed curb appeal, and solved a messy loose dirt area in my backyard that was becoming the 'community cat litter box' by paving with an attractive brick pattern. While he and his crew worked on the front of the house, I witnessed several people by foot and car stopping to marvel at his craftsmanship an take a business card. I was very satisfied with the final look!
Description of Work: Remove & haul away dirt & debris from unpaved area in backyard. Poured concrete; bricked area in running bond pattern with brick border. Stone veneer existing concrete porch & walkway, including risers and treads. Poured concrete so stone would be flush with sidewalk and added concrete and steel rebar for reinforcement.
Jeff responded to my initial call and came right out. He spent a long time helping me to create a functional and attractive brick area for my problem section of grass in the backyard. He explained the process and all the steps that would be taken. I received the estimate, all questions were answered and work began the following week. Jeff was here on the site with his guys, working along with them. Jeff was very conscientious about the slope of the area for draingage and etc. He designed and laid the bricks himself. He also paid attention to the existing sprinklers in the yard and made suggestions as to changing them. They cleaned up each day after working. When the existing flagstone area was re-grouted and cleaned, it left a residue. Jeff did not give up until the flagstone was brought back to it's original color. It took a few cleanings and that did not seem to be a problem for him. I really appreciated his dedication and work ethics. Jeff and his crew were very punctual, friendly, answered my questions, extremly accomodating, knowledgeable, conscientious, clean, and professional. Jeff comes from a family background of masons and this was quite evident in his knowledge and performance. I feel very fortunate to have found Jeff. I will definitely use him again in the future. It was a real surprise and nice to find someone who still has great work ethics, values, professionalism, skills, artistic craftsmenship, and takes pride in their work.
Description of Work: A new brick patio area was artistically and skillfully created , and added to a section of the grass area in my backyard. The grass in this section was not growing and it was always muddy. Miscellaneous repairs were done to existing brick, cement, and flagstone areas. Cement driveway and backyard was scrubbed and cleaned.
