Description of Work: Brian came out and proposed on a complete replacement of heating, a/c, and duct work in our 1880 sq ft single story home. Quote was for a Carrier Infinity 4-ton dual-stage variable speed unit, including roof mounting the A/C and moving the furnace from a close to the attic. Also included were all new ducts. ($15605)

+ -1 moreI had to wait a few days for an appointment but it was worth it. They were very professional and friendly. Duke Armstrong was a great technician. I had trouble with my AC last year and will be calling them back for that work and will probably get a yearly service contract with them.
Description of Work: Furnace wasn't working. No heat. Technician quickly determined it was the igniter and replaced.

+ -1 moreThe heater, which is on the roof, started making a very weird banshee type sound so after looking in Angie's List I called the highly rated Brody Pennel Co. and they came out, spent an hour and a half checking over the heater, oiling a few parts, and coming to the conclusion that although the heater is old it is still working OK. He suggested a yearly maintenance and buying some CO2 detectors (he said rather than buy them from him I could buy them much more cheaply at a hardware store). Juan was an excellent representative of the company and an able technician also with the ability to discuss the situation clearly with me. And after all that time and work still only charged the $79. I couldn't have been happier. I have previously had a company work on the heater and was very unhappy with them. Just for kicks I looked them up on Angie's List to see that they had an F rating. No wonder.
Description of Work: Heater problem (weird sound)- Brody got it quieted down and made a few suggestions about maintenance. Despite the time spent I was still only charged the $79. Amazing. The guy was very helpful and pleasant.

+ -1 moreIt was great. We called a bunch of places Saturday morning, none of whom could set an appointment to come out until Monday or Tuesday. Brody-Pennell said that if something freed up sooner, they would call us and sure enough, at about 1:30pm, they called and said they'd had a cancellation and a technician could come in half an hour. He came on time, inspected and did all work in less than an hour. Very professional, courteous (and sympathetic to the fact that our house was freezing cold!)
Description of Work: In mid-January, our heat just randomly shut off and stopped working. Technician came out (on a Saturday) and after thorough inspection, determined the problem was a faulty thermostat which he replaced.

+ -1 moreI smelled gas when I turned on my furnace the first time this winter and called the gas company. The gas man told me a duct was not connected and I needed to call a heating company. The Brody-Pennell service man came promptly as scheduled, climbed through a small trap door to reach my inconveniently-located furnace and hooked up the duct. When he had me test the unit, we still smelled gas. He climbed back up and told me I had a cracked fire box, and flames were rolling out. It was not repairable and I needed to replace the furnace. That afternoon a sales representative came out, inspected the furnace and recommended a replacement. I was able to keep my original ducting so I only had to replace the furnace itself. 3 days later the new furnace was installed.

+ -1 moreBrody made two visits. The first visit cost $79 for the service call The technician diagnosed that the HVAC unit had almost no freon and that a leak had occurred. Brody re-filled the freon (at no charge) and then scheduled a second visit in order to perform the necessary work to find the leak. That visit occurred one week later and cost $315. The leak was fixed in less than two hours. Both technicians were responsive, professional, friendly, and explained everything in detail. They even put shoe covers on their feet when they entered my home!
Description of Work: Our HVAC was only blowing hot air when trying to cool our home. Brody Pennell was called to diagnose and fix the problem.

+ -1 moreThe only complaint I have with them was that they didn t clean up well after themselves. They were a little bit messy in there working with the plaster and they put registers in wrong places. They were not real good in returning my calls to come back and take care of it either. We felt confident and they did a good job though on the actual work. The clean up and follow up was just not good.

The job was done in a timely manner and they did a good job cleaning up when they were finished. We did receive a cheaper estimate from another company, but we thought the price was very reasonable.

+ -1 moreI chose Brody Pennell from the list of contractors because of their proximity to my residence, their reviews, ratings, and there was a discount coupon on offer. Gerry has to be one of the most polite workmen I have ever had to deal with. He took the time to explain what was wrong, and what needed to be done to repair the problem. He also explained security measures that were used to protect my private information.
Description of Work: Changed a malfunctioning ignition model in my central heating system. At about 11:00 I made the phone call, described what was wrong, and was told they could have someone out between 1 pm and 4 pm. I was also told there was a $79.00 fee which would be waived if I had the repairs made the same day. At 1 pm I received a phone call and was told the technician would arrive in about a half hour. At exactly 1:30 the doorbell rang. Gerry (sp?) introduced himself and got right to work. He brought little bootees that he used to cover his work shoes when he entered my home, being careful to remove them each time he went outside. He explained the problem I had, and gave me an estimate for the repair. Turns out he did not have the right part. He called the office and it was delivered to my home. The quote for the new part actually turned out to be less than the original part. From start to finish the on-site job was done in less than 2 hours.

+ -1 moreThe service man told me that it isn't supposed to cool any better than it does. He cleaned the coils, charged $150.00 and left. Before he left, I explained that the unit has cooled the house successfully for six years until now. He told me the condenser must be getting poor air flow and suggested I move it. When I reiterated that it has worked fine for six years, so that couldn't be the problem, he said it's working fine and there was nothing to fix. I told him if he didn't know how to fix it, perhaps he could call a more experienced repairman from his company, he said I'd have to call the company. I called and was told he was one of their top guys. They essentially stood behind their repairman and told me I was mistaken, that it must not have worked all these years. The profound illogic of their reasoning made me realize they didn't know what they were doing. I called someone else who came and fixed it.
Description of Work: I called them out to diagnose why the air conditioner will no longer cool the house and to fix it.
