This was a very special client - someone who's involved in Boxing, a sport I revere, in a big way, so I was honored to get the call, and now am more honored by this review!! [member name removed] and his wife could not have been nicer, and it was a great pleasure installing a beautiful door set, and repairing around his garage door in prep for painting. I always love my work, I just love it a little more when I'm doing it for, and it's appreciated by, someone I've admired for a long time!!

Neil called me back within minutes once I made the initial phone call. He was able to schedule me for the next day. He showed up on time and started to work right away. I had forgotton my list (this is a rental) and he was able to remember everything I said needed to be done. I thought he was well organized, knowledgeable, efficient and inventive. He was there 2 1/4 hrs. If I had one thing at all negative to say, it would be that he could have been somewhat neater. He left dirt from his shoes on the bathroom floor and a dirt smudge on the wall, but if I had mentioned it to him at the time, I'm sure he would have taken care of it, no problem. Overall, I would say he was great and I will definitely use him again.
Description of Work: Neil handled with ease numerous tasks I needed taken care of - such as, fixing a window latch, installing screens & hardware, installing smoke alarms, installing a new bathroom sink stopper, re-calking the bathtub/shower and adding new screws to 2 door latches that had come loose as well as repairing some loose boards on the outside of the house. He also said he would fix my crawl space screens around the outside of the house, and could make new window screens for a few of the windows where the screens didn't fit properly. He said he would have to re-schedule this work for a different time, however.

Overall everything was great we had issues connecting due to his phone service and him having the flu but I don't blame him for that all.
Description of Work: He fixed a frame on our door, fixed or gas line to our washing machine so we could get hot water, and also helped us with a new door insert for kitchen. He also helped a co worker of mine with a dog door. Very nice guy and I will definitely use him again.

Neil contacted me immediately. We were able to arrange a time which met my schedule. Neil not only repaired what was needed, he also shared with me how to maintain the repair over time. He also recommended an another contractor he trusted for a larger job I need to have completed. I would definitely use Neil again in the future and recommend him to anyone who may need a handyman.

Neil was communicative, called back when I left a message, called to let me know that he needed to change our appointment time, etc. When he came out he explained simply what needs to be done, gave me a price estimate, and went on to do the job quickly and efficiently. At the end it took less time than he thought it would, so it was reflected in a reduced price. All in all, very good experience.

Eric was punctual and personable and did an excellent job. He worked quickly and efficiently. I told Eric that I thought a light fixture needed to be replaced but Eric showed me that it was a simple problem, which he corrected in a few seconds at no additional charge. I can think of no complaints and recommend Eric highly.

Neil responded the same day that I emailed him. I explained what my father wanted done and Neil told me what items to buy at Home Depot, which I did. He gave very helpful suggestions in his email and we set up a time for him to come over. He came at the appointed time and was there for 3 hours. I did not stay at the house but came back later and he was finished by the time I returned. He explained it took a little longer because the original casing for the shower head was rusted and had to be replaced. There were adjustments that had to be made to insert the toilet support railing also, but he took care of it. Everything was done quickly, efficiently and in a professional manner. My dad really appreciated Neil's friendly and easy-going manner and my Dad I appreciated Neil's work and professionalism. Neil is really an excellent resource person to have regarding senior's needs in moving around the house. I very much appreciate his attentiveness to detail and making sure the job is done right.
Description of Work: My father needed a railing put into his shower, a new shower head, a shower bench, and a support railing for the toilet. Also, a toilet seat needed to be replaced in another bathroom.

I always welcome calls from Member, she and her Dad are as nice as it gets and I like working for them a lot. Her dad is a senior with a teenager's wit and smile!! When he started having trouble getting around his house a few months ago, I built a very low-key custom railing for the front porch/entry that was not the usual bulky, ornate railing. This interior work was more standard stuff, but will make his life much easier, which for me is very satisfying. I will work for them ANY TIME.

New clients always scare me a little...you never know who's gonna answer the door, even after a few phone conversations. But this client had me after the first chat, and was even lovelier than I expected when I got there. She was ready for me and had stuff laid out which always makes work go faster (thus cheaper). The work was straightforward, and the conversation couldn't have been nicer, nor could she. And...she had 2 of the coolest birds I've ever seen!! I would work for her again in a NY minute.

I contacted Neil after reading the positive reviews and he was able to come on short notice due to a cancellation. He was on time, very professional and friendly, and got to work straight away. He was able to complete all jobs with no problem, and the quality was excellent. We also appreciated the advice he gave us on how to prevent the gate latch from breaking again (which has happened every time we've had it repaired in the past.) We would not hesitate to hire him again. Thanks Neil!

I've extended my work area because of these folks!! I usually don't go down to the South Bay, but a cancellation that morning made me say yes, and I'm really glad. This very nice family was completely prepped for me when I got there, everything laid out and organized, which always makes my job easy. Everything was pretty straightforward, so I got right to work and flew through the tasks. (Organization/readiness are HUGE). The bottom line is he didn't finish the job- here are my details: Neil was hired for two jobs. First he ran plumbing and put in a sink and built a counter. The extended the warehouse electrical to add an additional plug. For this job I bought a sink off craigslist and didn't know it should have had clips to mount it. Neil sent me to Home Depot to pick some up, the ones available didn't work, so Neil just left them in a heap on the floor, no mention of waiting to get the right parts, Neil just decided to put screws into the stainless steel sink to keep it down.....they have already rusted. He caulked the sink in a big hot mess which extended over an inch in some places on to the counter top. I realize when he doesn't know how to properly do something he wings it, not always with the best results. Neil was was paid 1/2 up front for this part of the rest upon completion. I admit I didn't complain about the work, Neil was such a nice guy all ready to schmooze and I just wanted to let it go. The screws only began to rust after use- and by them no more Neil. Next Neil was to do the work my husband needed, to put up TWO hanging stock shelves in a warehouse. After the first estimate the size of the shelves was adjusted and a price was agreed upon. He was paid half and the job began. He built the shelves and hung the first one. He said he needed a second person and a different ladder to hang the second due to it's location and he would be back to finish the job. He asked for the the rest of his money, my husband said he preferred to wait until the job was finished but Neil promised to be back on Tuesday (Aug.7) to finish. Now we have a problem. Monday I get an email that he hurt himself jumping down off the first shelf he built. He wrote that he would come Thursday (Aug. 9). On Friday, he sent us an email apologizing for not Showing up the day before- that he had minor surgery resulting from the jump and that he was so sorry but that he would call us by Monday. On Monday we got an email that he had been in a car accident and he would be back in business by Wednesday(Aug 15). To both emails my only response was one of sadness for him. On Thursday, I emailed Neil to ask when he'd be back to finish and that we hoped he was better. He responded with - "it really isn't my fault". Who was blaming him? On Aug. 23, I emailed Neil to ask how it was going, no response. Aug. 27th another email asking him to call with an update, he said he needed another week off. He asked to come the following Monday- I said we'd be closed for Labor Day but that Tues. or Wed. would be great. No word, no show. We figured he needed more time. September 12, my husband called him but no call back so on Sept. 13th I wrote that we were very sorry for all his bad luck but we really needed the shelf up- could he send someone to finish the job or give up back some of the money to hire someone else to do it. He emailed back that he has stage one cancer and that by the way- "he didn't owe us anything that he he was only paid for the work he did" ?????? Why would we have waited - a month- for him to come back if we hadn't paid him for the work. He said to read the bottom of his estimate that it wasn't a quote only an estimate...there was "no dishonor" on his part. So done with this guy. Well, I must respond to Neil's comments below. First of there were no problems with the building, period. As far as being "baked", I really must laugh at the mention of this- dear Neil, my husband did get high twice, with YOU and YOUR joint if you can remember. Childish, really, Kettle, Kettle, Black, Black.
Description of Work: Neil was hired for two jobs. Firs,t he ran plumbing and put in a sink and built a counter. The extended the warehouse electrical to add an additional plug. Second, to put up TWO hanging stock shelves in a warehouse. He put up one and built the second.

The response you see above was NOT their original report. They re-wrote it and tailored their BS to fit what I replied. Very Uncool... Thank goodness Angie's let me re-do my response. I have 99% "A" ratings and have won the Angie's List SUPER SERVICE AWARD 3 years in a row now, so please consider that when thinking of hiring me. I always leave my clients satisified WHENEVER POSSIBLE but some folks are just never pleased. An estimate is just that, and at the bottom of every one of my estimates is the statement "This is an estimate only, and as such may change once work has begun". It is not a "set price for work" nor a guarantee, and they signed off on it. And the work did, in fact, change due to the sub-surface construction of their wearhouse. After 4 solid days work, (which I discounted), when I hadn't yet completed hanging ONLY the final shelf, (ALL other work was done well), I had to move on to 3 weeks of other booked work. This didn't make them happy, So they tanked me with lies. I tried a few times to get back to them but communication with them was terrible. So I gave up. Please notice that amongst their "F"s is a "B" for quality. A bit odd that I could be so terrible but my work rated a "B" in quality...hmmmmmm. This client is NOT a reflection of my abilities nor the way I do business, and I would hope you'll read through my tons of great ratings and ignore the 3 bad ones, including this member. Again, you just can't please everyone!

DO NOT HIRE THIS HANDYMAN! I can not stress this enough. We've been doing tons of remodeling and repairs to our home and this guy is the worst service man we've come across. I hired Neil to install a safe in our bedroom closet. According to the directions on the safe this installation is so easy anyone can install it. But I wanted to be extra careful and hire a professional. Unfortunately for me I did not find a professional. I hired Neil. He showed up to my home and proceeded to uproot and ruin the carpeting in our closet while installing the safe. Now if he told me when I hired him "Hey, I'll install your safe but I'm going to ruin the carpet in the process" I never would have hired the guy. Needless to say my wife and I were p*****. After this Neil had the nerve to tell me that he would replace the carpet in the closet "no charge." Really? No charge! Thanks for doing me a favor pal. You come into our home and ruin our carpet and then act like you are doing me a favor by not charging my for your colossal screw-up. This is not a favor.... this is a major inconvenience. Anyway, Neil says he will get back to me once he locates the exact carpet he needed to replace. Of course I don't hear from him for a few days so I have to constantly email him for updates. After 2 weeks he tells me he can't find the exact carpet and that I need to go around town to find a carpet that matches. Great! So you ruined my carpet and now I have to do the leg work and find the carpet that you need to replace. It just keeps getting better and better. Like an idiot I decide to help this "handyman" find the carpet so I go to stores around town and find a carpet that is not exact but something I'm willing to compromise on. I feel like this whole job I've been compromising everything. I tell Neil the carpet info and store info and expect him to buy it and install right away. He did cause this whole problem after all. Instead Neil decides to nickel and dime me by asking to only repair half of the closet so he doesn't have to spend money on replacing the whole closet. Really!?!? So you ruined my carpet and you only want to repair a portion of it so I have two distinctly different carpets installed in that room? I tell him NO. He needs to buy the largest piece to replace the entire closet space (which really isn't that much since it's just a CLOSET!!!). Neil tells me he will arrive on a Tuesday to make the repair. Much like most of America I have a job and am a very busy person. But I take the day off to wait for Neil to arrive on Tuesday and repair the carpet he ruined. Guess what? Neil is a no show. Not an email. Not a voicemail. Doesn't show up at all to fix the carpet he destroyed. Needless to say I parted ways with Neil and hired a real professional to install new carpet in my closet. But the damage was done. I ended up paying four times the amount to get new carpet to repair the damage because this "handyman" didn't do his job correctly. I can't stress this enough DON'T HIRE THIS GUY. You will regret it.
Description of Work: DO NOT HIRE THIS HANDYMAN! I can not stress this enough. The service was supposed to be a simple safe install in a closet and Neil the "handyman" ended up damaging my carpet in the process. So the job turned from a simple install to a carpet replacement. The whole experience did not go well. Worst part is I actually paid this sad sack for the safe install even though he ended up causing me hundreds worth of carpet damage. Unreal!

DO NOT ACCEPT WORK FROM THIS ANGIE'S MEMBER...I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. HE WILL TRY TO SCAM YOU, AS HE DID ME, INTO REPLACING SOMETHING 10 YEARS OLD, WORN OUT AND CHEAP TO BEGIN WITH, WITH SOMETHING NEW AND EXPENSIVE. He contacted me to install a floor safe in a CLOSET. He's out of my usual area, but begged me to come and do the job on referral advice. It also had to be done at an early morning (ungodly) hour. So like a fool I agreed and went to do the work. His "prissiness" was obvious when the first thing he asked was to remove my shoes, so as not to damage his (ugly, worn) floors. Okay, I've had this request before, had on clean socks (;), so I agreed. I then was led through a sterile environment into a CLOSET with AT LEAST 10 year old (according to every carpet company I contacted to try and replace it) carpet in it. They don't even make carpet like this anymore, as it's a "chain stitch weave", which means if you snag it anywhere it gets a run in it. And of course, that's what happened when I made small incisions in it to drill through it into the sub-floor to mount this safe. THE SNAG WAS ONLY 2 ROWS WIDE (maybe 1/4") BY 18-24" LONG IN THE FAR BACK OF A 9X4' CLOSET. (I HAVE PICTURES). I immediately showed him and offered to have it repaired. HE HAD THE NERVE TO START DEMANDING I REPLACE THE CARPET IN THE ENTIRE CLOSET. I agreed to have it REPAIRED, a relatively simple process IF you can find the carpet. So I started looking, and kept him informed EVERY STEP of the way. Every carpet company I went to told me it was AT LEAST 10 years old, wasn't made anymore (because the weave was a failure) but could easily be repaired, especially because I kept the yarn that came out. He refused, demanding I replace the carpet in the entire closet and re-transition it to the room floor. I told him this was very unreasonable and I would be happy to SEAMLESSLY replace the back portion of the closet with carpet as close as I could find. HE ADAMANTLY REFUSED, demanding again I replace the entire closet. Ridiculous. And a total scam to get this old, crappy carpet replaced. I nicely asked him, and his wife, to pick the carpet, to avoid any further issues. His choice was a brand new, expensive carpet. FOR THE BACK, INSIDE END OF A CLOSET that had a barely perceptible, 1/4" x 18" snag in it! For me, this was the last ridiculous, unreasonable straw. In spite of this, I tried ordering the carpet from Home Depot they requested. 3-4 week wait, which really set him off. We made a TENTATIVE appointment for yesterday, based on the carpet arriving. It did not. Then I got a really nasty, prissy email from him threatening "bad feedback" on Angie's. And here we are. AGAIN, I HAVE PICTURES OF THE MINIMAL DAMAGE THAT WAS DONE and would be happy to email them to anyone on request to prove what an unreasonable SCAMMER this guy is. DO NOT WORK FOR THIS A.L. MEMBER. YOU WILL BE SORRY. (And don't you think it's odd that he gave me all Fs EXCEPT in "professionalism" after ranting about how unprofessional i was? I do.) Over 50+ As, 3 Super Service Awards in a row, and a small job like this tanks me. I should have walked away the second I met him and got that "bad vibe". Live and learn.

The "client" who wrote this report is actually the Executive Administrator to a VERY well known L.A. Interior Designer, who'd called me to do a job at one of her client's showrooms a few months ago. THIS CALL WAS TO WORK ON THE DESIGNER'S OWN HOUSE, which made me very, very proud!!! Both the assistant and designer herself were incredibly nice people, knew exactly what they wanted, listened to my execution ideas and let me have at it. The work was exacting and tough, but I got it done to both their, and my, satisfaction - almost impossible in this day and age. They were beyond respectful, and treated me as a professional, which always inspires me to do great work. (You'd be surprised how many people treat workmen like used car salesman...not very nice). They were a joy to work for. Hopefully, I will work for them many more times both at their own home, and their design clients homes and showrooms.

I contacted several handymen online and found 310 handyman to be the most qualified/affordable. His quick response was a bonus. He arrived to check out the old shutters, new shutters, installation hardware, and height of house and gave me a great bid. We scheduled the appointment. He arrived at the suggested time and did excellent work. He hauled off the old shutters (some were in pieces) and left the job site spotless.

What a lovely new client!!! She was prepared for me, had all the necessary repair stuff organized, showed me the ropes then got out of my way and let me work. (Prep/organization is HUGE, folks...it makes my job much easier which lowers my bill!!). I look forward to working for her again!!!

They were good and did the job they were supposed to do. They were on time and everything else was fine with them. Their price too was pretty cheap. I would rate them high across the board and I would use them again in the future.

I always appreciate when a year-old client remembers my work and adds a review to Angie's!!! It means not only did the initial work go well, but the repair held up well enough for them to give me A's nearly a full year later!!! Thanks, [Member Name Removed].

Neil called to say he would be a few minutes late for our appointment. Looked over the problem.Took some measurements and said he would get back to me with an estimate. His suggestion to paint rather than stain saved me hundreds of dollars. Maybe as much as $1500.00. That would have gone out of my pocket into his!!! Believe me, I was impressed. Sure I might have to do it again in 4 or 5 years but it is a rental and it just made good sense to do it this way. I am so happy to finally have a "handyman" (understatement) I don't think there is one house/home problem he couldn't fix and fix well. He is smart, creative, honest, prompt, professional and kind. Oh, and he's pretty funny, too!! If you need a "fixer" Neil is THE man!!!
Description of Work: I have a carport adjacent to a swimmimg pool and deck. It started out as a driveway but was converted to a carport many years ago with the adding of the pool and converting the garage to a pool house. Tthe driveway is over 60 years old and has/had cracks and staining. Looked terrible next to a sparkling pool and cute pool house. Enter Mr 310 Handyman! After substantial prep work, pre paint treatments and filling of cracks, Neil painted with a high quality concrete paint a lovely shade of beige. It looks 10,000 times better.

This member was a dream client. A landlord who really cared about her property, and her tenants, but willing to listen to advice about what would (and wouldn't) work. Times are tough and if there's an alternative that'll work AND save money, I'll find it...and we did. Her original idea was to strip the concrete deck and stain it, which would have been lengthy, costly, and (honestly) not lasted any longer than what I suggested - repairing the concrete and doing 3 coats of deck paint. She involved the client, who chose the color, and we came up with a great looking, durable patio space that made everyone happy! She was a fantastic communicator, in spite of travelling during part of the time repairs were done, and just generally a super-nice, really sweet person. I wish every client was like this one!!

Very pleased with his responsiveness and quality of work. We removed some old drapery traverse rods and installed new mini-blinds. We needed some more screws, so he continued to work while I went to the hardware store. He arrived right on time and finished the work quickly and in workmanlike manner.

All the repairs turned out perfectly.
Description of Work: We had 3 jobs for Neil to repair. He earthquake secured a bookcase to a wall and re-attached a kitchen cabinet door where the hinge had broken. Finally, we asked him to replace a bathroom door that had a large depression and a hole. It had been poorly patched years ago and suddenly showed up again as the paint started peeling in the dry weather. The bathroom and the back of the door had been painted in a venetian paint process. Neil said it would be a shame to replace the door and lose the beautiful paint work. He then repaired the hole and dent and re-painted the door. The door now looks completely repaired.

This client got me from Angie's List without realizing I'd also done repairs for friends in the neighborhood. It was a nice coincidence. They are extremely nice folks, (with the most beautiful dog), and it was a pleasure working for them!!

No offense to any of my other wonderful clients, but this family has been my favorite clients ever. They actually had 2 floods over a few years and we basically remodeled the entire house. They gave me incredible leeway to implement their ideas and wound up with a spectacular modern house...1,000% different from the 50s Ranch they started with!! Super modern kitchen, enlarged living room with vaulted ceiling, enlarged master suite, updated bathroom suite, soooo much more...and more windows which take advantage of their incredible view! This job/family was a gift, and I cherished it!!!!

It went very well. He explained what he was going to do and did it. Everything is working and its quite wonderful.
Description of Work: Neil was prompt, called to confirm night before coming. Neat, efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. I would certainly call him again and would not hesitate to recommend him to friends and family. He put up two ceiling fixtures, fixed a leaking toilet, went twice to the hardware store (no charge) and installed filters for an osmosis water system. He was fast, and clean.
