Window Restoration And Repair

These guys were fabulous! They were here at exactly 7:30 this morning and left at 1:30. They did nine windows. My windows rattled when it was windy but now they open and close beautifully and seem to fit snugly in the frames. I’m really impressed by them. Everything is fully functioning like new. They cleaned up like you wouldn’t believe -- they get an A+ for clean up! These guys were so conscientious. They wanted to be helpful and they were so pleasant. It was a great experience.

They did a very good job. Just very nice men that came out here to do the work.

We had some problems with leaky wood windows in our Topanga home - where the rain can get pretty fierce. We had tried another weatherstripping company without much success. Window Restoration and Repair took the time to research our brand of window and experiment with solutions before they even came out to the job. Once they were there, they spent nearly full extra day getting everything perfectly sealed up, even doing some custom woodwork to add an additional line of defense against water penetration. They even tested every window with a hose to ensure everything was perfect. I can't recommend these guys highly enough. In an age where customer service and craftsmanship seem to be on the decline, they are outstanding at both!

We had a picture window that was leaking significantly throughout the winter storms. It had been previously had some minor glazing repairs and painting on the outside but continued to leak. We call Window Restoration and Repair to come out and give us an estimate. We were able to get on their calendar for an inspection, which was thorough. They inspected throughout the window for damage to the wood. We agreed that the best path forward would be to completely re-glaze the window. We were given an estimate for the number of hours that it would take and the final price came in at that cost. During the work several panes were found to have cracks and they replaced the panes at very low cost. They did great work and I would surely call them again to do any additional window repair.

Norm did a great job explaining the job to be performed. Brian and crew did an excellent job repairing our windows. It was quite an extensive process and they worked diligently to free up the windows and replace the ropes.

The workers were generally on time, their team leader Brian was very versed in the repairs and lead his team solidly making sure the quality that was promised was delivered. They were clean ( I had just polished my floors ) they took off their shoes for work. We discovered some additional damage while repairing one of the casement windows. Brian talked me through all of my options, and I didnt feel a "hard sell" at any time from him. Although pricey, replacing these windows with plastic alternatives I think would have cost approximately the same amount and would have reduced the value of my property. I am so glad a service like this is available.

Overall, my interaction with them was good. They came to my house for an estimate. It turned out that they could not help me but they were extremely helpful. I liked their straightforwardness, knowledge of restoration of windows, maintaining architectural details of windows. I would consider them for a quote in the future.

Although I really liked the company, from their professionalism to their quality of work, they are out of my price range. I just bought my first house and invested most of my money into purchasing it. I never would have guessed that the cost to restore the windows would have been as high as it was. The house is just over 1000 square feet and I have 15 windows. The quote was close to 9000.00! Perhaps this is the norm, but for me, it is out of my league. I am disappointed that quality work equates to such a cost that only some could afford.

They showed up on the promissed date exactly at 7:30 am. They listened my requests, were very polite and well mannered. I left them in the house and went to work. By 4:00 pm they were gone. The 2 new windows look awesome. The 2 restored windows had new mechanisms installed and now can open with 1 finger. They realligned the locking latches and installed weather stripping. Everything was clean, the furniture was back in place. I love it and will definetly use them again. BTW: I got an estimate on vinyl windows replacement for the same job, which was much higher. So, if you are on budget, restoration is the way to go.

I have a home built in 1937 and was interested in getting a price quote to refurbish the original windows. I called Ed At Window Restoration and Repair. It's clear he has a passion for window restoration. He spent about half hour talking me through the options and gave me the confidence that they know and care about keeping the character of older homes. While I have decided to postpone the work, they will be the go to company when I am able to do the work. You will want to be patient for the service to begin. Ed told me the earliest they could do the work is November due to the number of projects they have going.

The rep came on time,was knowledgable, and we'll consider hiring them to do the work.

Excellent. We contacted them and got a fast response. They showed up when they said they would. They answered all of our questions. The workers were experienced and extremely professional.. dressed professionally.. You could tell that they had been working as a team for a long period of time.. every worker knew their role and what they had to do without a lot of explanation from a supervisor. There was no I mean NO mess.. these guys cleaned up after every stage of the process and this was a dirty dusty job. Some of the work was done from high on a ladder.. Again.. very professional. I couldn't recommend these guys enough and definitely plan on having them restore more of the windows in our 1920's Spanish style house. If you are looking for guys to install cheap plastic or vinyl Sears type windows these are probably not the guy..If you have an old house where the windows could go either way.. repair or replace.. you should contact these guys first. They have lots of experience with older houses.. are very professional and simply do what they say they are going to.. in the time that they say they are going to for the price that they say they will charge. I can't say enough good things about these guys.

they were great, professional, hard working, pleasant. took many months to schedule 2 appointments as they have only 4 workers and i work full time. booked months in advance. excellent work. worth the hassle as i can now open my windows and air the place out!

The crew arrived right on time, explained exactly what they would be doing, covered all furniture and moved items that were in the way and got started. They were professional, completed the job in on day although they had (11) windows to work on, they cleared up inside and out after finished. The windows now work without struggle. So smooth you would think they are new.

Ed was very professional and honest in telling me that that window was still functional and did not need replacement. This saved me money and time. Yeah!!! Thanks, Ed for your honesty!

Wow! Simply amazing. My first contact was by phone. I spoke with Scott and later Ed, the owners of the company. They explained just what it was their company did and why they believed it to be better than replacing the old windows with new ones. Ed came to the house with his assistant Norm to assess the job, tell me what he thought needed to be done, hear what I wanted and provide an estimate. Several days prior to the start of work Norm contacted me to confirm the start day and time. The entire crew, Ed , Norm , Esteban, Nick, Caesar and Brian showed up on time and promptly began work. These guys are skilled craftsman specializing in this type of work. This is all they do and they do it quite well. They are self starters, each of them taking pride in what they do and it shows in the quality of their work. They always found time to answer my questions, were extremely polite and the clean-up was excellent. Professionals all.

My husband and I were in a quandary about what to do with the old double-hung windows in in our triplex. Although we liked having original windows, several had broken balances, a couple were stuck shut and one had extensive termite damage. Luckily, I came across Window Restoration & Repair on Angie's List. After giving them a call, Scott and Norm came out to take a look. They said the termite-damaged window could be replaced and they'd have all the windows working again complete with new balances and weatherstripping. Norm e-mailed me a nicely detailed estimate within a day or so. Since they were busy, I scheduled them for the following month. A few weeks later, Norm e-mailed me again, as a reminder, and asked if they could bump up the project start date a few days. I said yes. A three-man team arrived on a Wednesday and brought with them, a new replacement window for the damaged one. They took the old windows out, planed, sanded, put in new balances, added weatherstripping and put the windows back. The team leader, Doug, said that they'd be back on Friday to finish the rest of the windows. On Friday, a new team arrived, headed by Brian. They picked up where Doug and his team left off and finished repairing the remainder of the windows that day. Afterward, they cleaned up all the debris, vacuumed and left everything nice and tidy. Both Doug and Brian showed me how to keep the windows working, using either beeswax or an orange oil once or twice year. We're pleased with the results and recommend this company. It's wonderful having working windows again!

So far we really like them. They were really great and they know the type of work that needs to be done. They seem to want to accommodate our wishes. They communicate well. The price they have quoted us is fair.

Went great. The owner came out and measured everything. He was very informative and friendly. He came out a second time to make sure the measurements were correct. The installers were polite and courteous. Answered our questions and cleaned up fairly well. These guys helped match the style of our home (1940s).

They were on time and were very thorough. They took all the measurements and asked a lot of questions, and took quite a bit of time on doing the job thoroughly.

I had two windows in my 1932 house that were broken. One window had the mechanism broken and the other was the wood itself that had come apart. Windows Restoration came out and replaced the one window that could not be salvaged and did a "tune up" on 5 other windows. This included taking the windows totally apart, cleaning the wood, waxing the wood, replacing the spring and wire and then putting them all back together. I now have 6 perfectly working double hung windows that work both from the bottom and the top and have preserved the look of my spanish eclectic bungalow. It's a joy to behold! By the way, I used the Angie's List discount off of the price.

The house is now quieter and warmer. My favorite innovation was when Ed (on the spot) devised a way I could open the 2 floor to ceiling windows from the top down. He installed a brass grommet at the top of each window and fashioned a tool that had a transom hook (like they used in schools long ago) and attached it to the end of a stick handle he found in my garage. He sanded it and now it looks like an antique tool. And I can easily open those windows from the top down now. And I don't think he even charged me for this bit of genius! They had planned two days for the repair, but got everything done in 1 day.They were friendly, helpful, mindful about the cats. Brian called me at work twice that day to update me and to let me know they were done with the job. He was also very helpful with instruction and information I needed to know about the windows. Now every window in the house works! I'm a little torn about the price. $3900 I thought was a little high (about $260 per window -- and that's with a discount that was equal to one free window restoration) and possibly more than I wanted to spend, but I have to say that they did an excellent job and so I'm thinking that it was probably the right price for the quality and speed that they delivered.
