The Family Plumber

For years I struggled with my old shower valve, having to call a plumber every 3-4 months to repair it. Often, it would break while I was showering, so I couldn't turn off the water. I live in a condo, so there was no way to turn the water supply off to my unit exclusively. My old plumber didn't really care, and took several hours to respond, knowing that my shower was running! So, when I decided to replace the valve, I sought a new plumber on Angie's List. And what a great decision that was! Mike, the owner of The Family Plumber, came out and looked at my existing valve and made suggestions. He ordered the new hardware and sent two guys out to do the work. They were prompt, clean, and very neat. They cleaned up after themselves thoroughly, and even cleaned my tub/shower! The Family Plumber is my new plumbing company. They were prompt, clean and professional. I highly recommend them!

It went very well. They had alot of good equipment and explained what they were doing along the way.

They called the day before to confirm the appointment. They were on time.

First, I want to say my neighbor recommended them to me (she had just had them do work for her). Phone interaction was great. We set up a time and Paul H. (lead tech) and Mike came out, arriving on time. These newer water heaters are trickier to dismantle and flush yourself, so we wanted to see how they did it in case we needed to do it again down the road (update: think I'll just call them out again and save myself the headache). They drained the unit and to our surprise, there was hardly any sediment. We were sure that could have been why we weren't getting adequate hot water for quite some time! In explaining this to Paul, he immediately began examining all points of the hot water heater, including all connections, the pilot light, etc. He then stepped up onto the platform and voila! There's the problem: it had been hooked up backward to begin with! What's funny is that I had another plumber out here to fix the pilot light when it went out a few months back. I explained the lack of hot water and he looked at it, too, but never attempted to step up onto the platform to examine the connector hoses. Had anyone bothered to do such a seemingly simple thing, this perplexing problem could have easily been fixed long ago. So, huge kudos for Paul for taking the time to look at ALL possibilities - even the ones everyone else overlooked. He replaced the hoses and re-hooked things up. They also installed some valve type thing to help us drain it in the future if we want. But wait - there's more. They wrote me out a bill and I paid cash for it in the exact amount. Imagine my surprise to hear a knock on the door a few minutes after they drove off. It was Paul, informing me that I had overpaid them in cash!! I was so awed by that display of integrity that I told them to keep it. I really try to live my life in the same manner, and to have it come back to me like this choked me up. It's so nice to know there are honest people out there. Doubly so in the world of home repairs where one can feel super vulnerable. I would absolutely use them again and recommend them to anyone.

Josh and Eddy came on time and they were very professional, cordial and performed the job with excellence and precision. They were careful to clean up after themselves and were proactive in showcasing the before/after effects of the laundry drain working now as it should. It's clear they are experts in plumbing and I would not hesitate to use their services again.

It went just fine, they great job. Everything worked properly, they were on time. They had given an estimate over the phone and it was right on.

Had a problem with a leak from toilet, they showed up when they said and did a good job and it works correctly!

I called in the afternoon about a toilet that continued to run water after flushing. I was unable to see what could be fixed myself as sometimes minor fixes can be performed by the homeowner. I checked Angie's list and left a message. I got a call quickly and was able to schedule service the same day. The repairs took less than 30 minutes.

Excellent work and couldn't be happier with the price and the BIG job they did. I have an older house that needed a new cleanout. Jake located the sewer line, dug out a section where he was able to install the clean out, also ran a camera to check the sewer line. Jake also cleaned up everything and placed the cleanout box flush with the ground so the landscape would hide it's source. A+++

We were very impressed with their service and they didn't bill us until, the very end when they had completed both jobs. Their price was very reasonable.

They come out on time and are prompt for the appointment. The technician that comes out, Josh, is polite and efficient. They always have a follow up call to make sure everything is working correctly and I am satisfied. Scheduling went well and they can guestimate how long it will take over the phone and then they were able to come out within a few days of me calling. They are not the cheapest but it is worth it to me. They try to come out sooner if there are any cancelations.

We had new tile floors installed in January. Our master bath had a small issue, our guest bath had a larger issue. Both toilets were not properly sealed to the floor after our new tile job, causing some water leakage and staining underneath! I looked up The Family Plumber on Monday and gave them a call. Megan answered the phone, I told her my issue. She called me back in about 10 minutes with an estimate of $250.00 total to reset both toilets. I told her this was not an emergency, she set me up for just four days later on Friday between 1:30-2:30 p.m. I was called on Thursday afternoon to remind me of the appointment by Vicky. She said it would probably be between 1-2:00 p.m., but I would receive another call when the plumbers were on the way. I was called on Friday morning a little past 11:00 a.m. and asked if they could come early. I was very happy they could arrive early. They were here in about 10-15 minutes from the time Megan called. Paul and Jake arrived, they were very friendly and polite. They asked me to show them the two toilets and they went to work. They installed double wax rings (that is standard for them!) new bolts and bolt covers, and caulked around the bottom of both toilets. They even scrubbed off the grunge from the area that had been leaking under the toilets. They were clean,professional and neat! I was charged $240.00 as I had just received a $10.00 off coupon from Angie's List in the mail the day before! Paul explained I may have a further issue with my small guest bathroom toilet. It is too large to get a proper seal on the floor. He went the extra mile to draw me a diagram to explain in layman's terms what the difference is between the toilet I have, and the new one he would install would be. He gave me an option to replace at another time and gave me an estimate for the proper toilet for my space. He said it was up to me if I wanted to wait and see or book an appointment for the new toilet. For now we will wait and see. I will not hesitate to call The Family Plumber again. Thank you for your professionalism. So nice to call a company with real,pleasant people, actually answering the telephone, who pay attention to details and then send you friendly knowledgeable plumbers to do the work!! Viva customer service. It still exists!

The first time they came they fixed my toilet so it would work didn't charge me.I ordered a new toilet my old one was 39 years old it was time.We set a time for Wednesday 10/30/2013 at 3;30 to have it installed.They showed up on time and took the old toilet out brought in the new one.Afterwards they cleaned the floor and all around the bowl.I had a storage above the toilet with makeup ,lotions etc and they had neatly packed them in a box,so nothing would get broken. They gave me the invoice I paid and would use them again for sure. The new toilet is GREAT and I'm a very happy lady.

I was very satisfied with the results. This was the first time I've ever had plumber that was very direct and honest, who didn't try to up sale me on unnecessary work. He was professional and efficient, and they are returning today to perform additional services for me.

I have used Family Plumber numerous times in the past. They are always ON TIME and efficient. They have fixed several plumbing issues in my home for a fair price. They came out to my home today and assessed some leaking problems with my sprinkler system in the back yard and dishwasher in my kitchen. Although they were unable to fix the problem, they did refer me to the appropriate people. I admire that they do not attempt repairs beyond their scope. I appreciate that they did not charge me even though they spent 20minutes in my home.

Receptionist answered call within a few rings, was friendly and efficient. Took my number and said she'd call back with availability. Called back within about 15 minutes with opening later in the afternoon. A few hours later she called again and said an earlier time slot opened up, which was great. The opening was a 1 hour window, which I appreciated; often services like these give a 4 hr window which can be difficult. Plumber arrived at promised time, was polite and quick. Fixed the problem quickly and quietly. Will definitely call them again.

very professional, reasonable rates and exxcellent job

The plumber from The Family Plumber was punctual and professional, but indicated he could not provide the job. He referred me to another professional who did not answer my phone calls. I found The Handyman Connection from Angie's List also. Ever since then, I've used The Handyman Connection twice. They are older plumbers, but get the get job in a professional manner, are reasonably priced, and will come back free of charge if you are not satisfied with their work. I will recommend The Handyman Connection for all plumbing work.

The plumber arrived on time and appeared to be very competent and professional. They did not perform the work simply because their quote was higher than competitor, however I would feel comfortable hiring them in the future.

Josh and Eddie were amazing! They came in and fixed two plumbing issues (water heater T&P line and master bath sink P.trap) and handled them quickly, professionally and they were very thorough. They protected my floors before even starting work and cleaned up everything before they left. I wish I weren't moving out of the area because if I were staying, I would never have to call anyone but the Family Plumbers. HIGHLY RECOMEND

solved problem without really having to do anything and didn't even charge me.....this is a true family business with great people. There are not very many plumbers who come out and don't at least charge a service fee. The clog had actually solved itself and therefore no work was needed, I wanted to pay them something but he insisted that he would not take any money....WOW I have had them come out and do work before and the work was awesome. I will never use another plumber.

Excellent! Arrived on time, diagnosed problem right away and were done in about an hour. Will definitely use them again. Very professional and courteous, didn't leave any debris or mess.

He did what he said he would do, when he said he do it, for the price quoted. Very friendly, considerate and professional. Excellent care taken of our home where he worked and thorough clean up. Would recommend his company.

We contacted The Family Plumber to get an estimate to reroute our hot water line in the back section of our home. We had another plumber cap it off earlier because it was leaking water under the slab floor. The owner showed up 2 hrs late with a comment 'there must have been some mix up in the office'. He 'briefly review the area for the job and said he would get back to us with a quote within a day or so. He spent very little time with us. Subsequently, we engaged another plumber and he quoted the job at $2200 and he could start the next day. He explained the options and proposed the most cost effective solution with minimal drywall damage. He is now on day two and I'm completely impressed. Need a plumber.. contact Professional Plumbing! 714-964-3519, 17150 Newhope St. #307, Fountain Valley, CA 92708 NOW six days later Family Plumber left a vm advising it would be $2800 with only the basics in scope. No water box (as required for code) for the laundry room or fixtures, etc. Plus the way he proposed to route the line would cause us to do more drywall repair.
