The Family Plumber

They left the place cleaner than when they arrived, and they did some repair work to some old, decayed coverings without additional charge, but that were not part of the estimate. They are indeed my Family Plumber.

They are a top company. I only use them for any of my plumbing needs.

Kitchen sink was backed up, and washer had been backed up as well (the washer pipe would not drain fast enough). He unclogged (I'm assuming) the main line, and I haven't had a problem since.

A human being (as opposed to a recording device) at the company answered my phone call promptly and politely and he immediately scheduled an appointment for about two days later. He offered me the option of an appointment that evening if this was an emergency (it wasn't) and would have scheduled within a day, but my own schedule made me set the appointment for today. The company called to remind me of the appointment the day before, and called to offer me a slightly earlier time today. The technician arrived on time, was friendly, and was even friendly to my dogs. He was good about not letting them out and working in a way that kept them away from anything dangerous. He cleaned up after he finished working in any area, even cleaning off my elderly neighbor's driveway when sludgy water drained that way. The price was reasonable for the time and the work done. I will be using this service provider the next time we have a plumbing problem.

The very old garbage disposal finally stopped working. Also, the water heater was about 17 years old, very inefficient, and had probably not been drained in 10 years. I contacted the Family Plumber to arrange for the installation of both a new garbage disposal and water heater. I have used this company several times in the past 3 years, and have always had good experiences with them. As a single woman, I especially appreciate knowing I have a plumber I can trust. When Paul arrived he had an InSinkErator disposal in his truck, so that one was installed. One problem arose: The electrical outlet under the kitchen sink was so old it could not be used. 2 of the 3 prong slits "tilted inward" and were very thin; hence, the new disposal's plug would not fit in the original outlet. Paul called the electrician his company uses and someone was able to come to the house within the hour and install the new outlet (an additional $95, not noted above). The new disposal works great, and is amazingly quiet. Because the old disposal had stopped working a week earlier, and bits of food had gotten down, I was concerned about the mild backup in the kitchen drain. TFP sent Josh the next day to clean out that drain (there was a lot of sludge). I had him do the shower drain as well, since he was already here. I had researched water heaters online, but ended up going with the American Standard one recommended by Paul. He returned 5 days after the disposal installation and installed the new water heater. He had mis-read the label on the old heater - a 30 gallon one - and brought a 40-gallon heater. He said he could get a 30-gallon, but it would cost a bit more than the 40-gallon one he already had in his truck. So I went with the one he had. One issue arose from this: The new water heater is bigger than the space that was allotted for the original heater (in an exposed alcove by the back door). Paul was able to move / turn the heater in such a way that the controls do not protrude so much as to be a problem when one is exiting and entering through the back door. They still stick out a bit, but should be OK. (The old ones stuck out about the same amount, straight to the front). Paul also secured the heater to the wall with new metal straps. I am very happy with the work done, and also want to note that every plumber who has been sent by this company has been very personable, respectful, and clean and meticulous in his work.

Overall, I was pleased with their work. They answered all the questions I had on the new tank. I think the price was a little out of line at $1300.00 to do the work. I got other estimates of $900.00 to $1100.00 to do the work but I used this company as they have done work in the past and I was very happy with their level of service and work.

My kitchen faucet was broken and Mike and Paul came out in the time stated and did a great job. They were both very courteous and helpful. I had them take care of a couple of other items since they fixed the faucet so quickly. I will definitely use this company again!

They came to the house thinking they would have to tear into two walls and replace two valves. After evaluating our problem, they determined that they could replace the valves from the front, not tear out walls and just put a larger plate on the front with a new fixture. This saved a lot of time, mess and worked!! Very honest gentlemen. We had to wait a week for parts but it was well worth it!!

I smelled gas on Christmas Eve so I called the gas company and they came out and confirmed that I had a leak somewhere, so off the Angies List I went. I found Family Plumbing and Megan answered the phone. She was fantastic! Given it was Christmas Eve I thought I would be out of luck but they tried to accommodate and went out of their way to try to squeeze me in. Unfortunately we just couldn't make it happen so they schduled time to come out on Dec 26th at 9am. Sure enough, when 9 am Dec 26th rolled around they were johnny-on-the-spot Josh and Michael were assigned to me and they were both very nice and professional. When I have hired people to work on my house in the past I often felt like I was getting taken advantage of. That was not the case with these guys, I felt very confident on their abilities and honesty. They found several leaks and even fixed the shotty work that our kitchen contractors did (Pacific Kitchens - DO NOT USE PACIFIC KITCHENS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!!!) The entire experience was very positive and I would hire these guys again in a second.

We had been quoted a price over the phone, but when it came time to pay, the price had changed. Apparently the person we had talked to on the phone had quoted us the wrong price. After some back and forth negotiations the price had been lowered but still more than originally quoted. I still think that the price was too high.

Company is very professional. They have an office staff which, sets appointments, calls to advise of arrival times, confirms work dates and answers questions. The Plumbers are friendly, thorough, knowledgeable and efficient. They cleaned up after the work was done. The prices were competitive with others plumbers on Angie's List. I will use them again.

Everything went well. Paul, the plumber, called when he was on his way; he arrived on time. I explained the problem, showed him the dripping kitchen ceiling and let him know that I had already determined that the leak was coming from the upstairs toilet. He verified my assumption and went to work. He removed the toilet, replaced the old seal with two new ones, and reset the toilet and caulked around the base. Then he cleaned up any mess and was on his way. Job well done.

Only had a few minor issues with the inspector not passing the job for the permit because of not grounding a couple of outside spigots. Other than that, the Family Plumber is neat and clean, prompt, professional and courteous. I was recommended to them by a friend who'd used them, and have since recommended them to several others. Their pricing was fair and up front.

CLEAN FAST AND VERY WELL DONE

The plumber came and did the work. I didn't have a lot of conversation with him. He explained that if it didn't go with the snake, then he would have to open the toilet and see what would be in there. The experience was good. He was a nice guy. I felt the work was expensive, but he was good. I would use him again if his price is not expensive.

We called the Family Plumber, made an appointment and they came out and looked at the problem. Mike had to order the parts. The parts were ordered quickly and they returned and installed the next couple of days. We like them alot as they use to be our neighbors awhile back. Nice people.

Their work is high quality, they are punctual and they will come out quickly.

This is the first time I have used The Family Plumber. Called on Monday, the lady was really sweet, she asked if it was an emergency since they were booked until Wednesday. My garbage disposal and drain pipe were leaking for a couple of weeks and I had been living with a bowl under them for that time so it wasn't a problem to wait a couple of days. The day of, I received a call just before 2 pm that Paul was on his way and sure enough 5 minutes later there he was. Paul was super sweet and we chatted while he worked. He told me the disposal I had was one of the worst I could have gotten and gave me recommendations on what I should get when this one dies. I really appreciated that bit of info. Paul removed the disposal and took apart the drain, cleaned them up a bit and reset everything really quickly. He did a quick test to check for leaks and gave me a little info on how to properly use a disposal. Keep running the water for a minute after you turn off the disposal. Didn't know that! I will absolutely be using these guys in the future!

They showed up exactly on time. Did an excellent job and gave me some pointers in getting the rest of the job done.

Set up appointment about 1 1/2 weeks in advance. This was my request due to my work schedule - I wanted to do it on my afternoon off work. They made calls and sent emails prior to the service date to remind me and confirm. Came on service day and went right to work. Serviceman went straight to the problem. Cleared out the drain and cleaned up. Everything was perfect. A previous review said they would never look for another plumber.. I agree. Good job! :)
