A to Z Chimney Services

Overall this was a very thorough check of my chimney. I observed the entire process. The technician was very polite. He didn't mind that I asked questions thoughout the process. The area where he worked was clean when he completed the job. I was concerned for my carpet when he first walked into my home because he was wearing heavy boots. But there was no problem.

I called for an appointment, Arron showed up at agreed time. Went over all the things I asked, gave me a quote, he took the old screen door, and the window screen with him. He stated it will be about 2 weeks. This was on 4/09/2012. I received a call on 4/13/2012 from Cathy stating the screen are done, and we made an appointment for 4/17/2012. Tony showed up on time installed the door screen, and installed the window screen, then he was on the roof to do the dryer duct cleaning. He was very nice and professional, clean cut and very nice to deal with. The only little problem is- I was told by Cathy that Aaron and Tony will call before they show up. This did not happen with the first appointment with Aaron or with the installer Tony. Other than that they were great. I thought the price was a little high,( I am on a fixed imcome). I will used again!!!!!

They did a very nice job. They were prompt and on time. They did very high quality work. They explained everything they were going to do. They did a wrong measurement, but came back the next day with the correct measurement. They have a website that describes what they do.

They’re really great. I initially called them for a chimney repair; they set up an appointment. When I found out they did screens they came out the next day and gave me a quote on the house I’m moving out of and then the next day they drove up to Placerville to the house I’m moving into and they measured that. I appreciated their follow-up and their follow-through and their willingness when I told them where I was. He said he would call if he was up that way. Two hours later he called and said he was there and he had time. They are very professional, great customer service and because they were so good on the first house, that’s why I called them up to do the big house. So far I’ve only had the one experience. I don’t have much to compare it to in terms of price. I haven’t seen the product yet so I can’t grade the quality. Because they are on Angie’s List I’m assuming a certain level of quality. The sample they left is good quality. So far, everything else is all A’s.

Fireplace looks like new. Aaron is a very pleasant person to work with and he does a great job.

He showed up on time. Actually he was a lot early and answered all the questions I had.

We are quite pleased with the doors. However, the process getting them was difficult. The service really wasn't that great. First of all, the owner didn't get the estimate to the office for about three days. I made two or three calls to the office to get the estimate. I finally made the commitment and gave them half of the money, and they came out with the doors within about two weeks. The doors didn't fit. The owner had taken the wrong measurements. They called me to say that the doors hadn't arrived. Finally, I got the doors installed, and they are just fine. The workmanship is fine. I'm pleased with the doors; they do what they're supposed to do.

Tony arrived promptly and he and his helper were both friendly and accessible, allowing me to watch as they worked. Interesting. They put down protective drop-cloths, and took photos inside the chimney to determine condition, then thoroughly swept the chimney. For a minimal fee, they replaced a connection to gas igniter. We have been able to enjoy our wonderful fireplace this winter, feeling completely safe. i will be happy to recommend them; they are punctual, professional and reasonable in cost and they did a great job cleaning up.

I have been very satisfied with my A to Z Window Screens & Chimney Sweep. They did a great job sweeping and inspecting our chimney. They had good recommendations. They showed me how to do some of the services they did. I was very impressed with the workers. I will be using them again in the future.

The experience was a good one and I'm actually enjoying a great fire in that fireplace right now! There was absolutely no pressure from them at all to purchase any of the additional repairs/upgrades. The additional work was performed on a separate appointment than the original cleaning and they were great in scheduling around a work schedule/our availability. In addition, I have just ordered a Viewguard Security Screen Door from them and expect to experience the same great service.

I purchased one Angie's List Big Deal chimney sweep and inspection even though we have two fireplaces. The owner suggested which fireplace needed the most cleaning and told me the other fireplace didn't look that dirty. I agreed that it didn't look like it had been used much, but I mostly appreciated the fact that he didn't try to sell me a second cleaning. He also told me the crack in the fireplace was not big enough to warrant replacing. More $$ saved. The inspection and cleaning of the other fireplace went well and my light beige carpet and tile floors were properly protected. The fireplace was fine, but the inspection from the roof revealed the metal "flashing" was deteriorating and needed to be replaced. The owner took pictures so we could see for ourselves. We decided to perform that work ($600) at a later date and will most likely use this company to do it. The crew showed up on time and were very friendly.

The dryer had been underperforming for quite a long time. In the past, we had tried to change our dryer venting ourselves but could not get it to vent better (it is vented up to the roof.) We also had some near misses with dryer lint smoking due to the dryer being unable to properly vent. In the past we had also purchased a do-it-yourself vent cleaning kit but it was not long enough to clean the entire vent. The technician arrived on time and went to work. He was very neat in his work. First he did the chimney. He asked us what problems we were having, if any. We have had issues with the fireplace smoking since the house was built, and since it is a two sided fireplace we have been unable to open the doors on both sides without a lot of smoke. So he got to work cleaning the chimney, and he inspected it for any leaks or problems. The chimney checked out fine, but the tech was able to tell us the reason for the smoke, which is that the chimney pipe is not large enough in circumference for the size of the fireplace. So we finally have an answer, and some possible solutions suggested by the tech. He agreed that we should keep only one side open at a time to prevent smoking, and advised us to burn only small fires. After he was finished cleaning the chimney there was no evidence he had been here, his work was very clean. Next he started on the dryer vent, and again asked what problems we were having. The dryer vent is cleaned from the roof. The vent inside the house is covered with a bag to catch any errant lint, and from the roof the tech vacuums and brushes the vent until it is clear. Our house was built in 1987 and the only vent cleaning we have ever had was our do-it-yourself kit. The tech said the vent was 95% occluded. He finished cleaning it and then he also fixed the length of the inside vent. Since we have had this service done, our dryer is performing as it should, dries anything in one cycle. When the tech left, he scheduled us for another chimney cleaning in 2 years, so we will receive a reminder phone call and won't have to try to remember when its due. A very convenient service!

He was very punctual and courteous and explained to me what he was doing. Seemed very professional. The work was done in a timely matter.

Ryan arrived on time, set up his workspace to prevent any mess or damage to my home (there was none) and very quickly and professionally got to work. He seemed knowledgeable, personable and thorough -- an excellent representative of the company. I appreciated working with A to Z from start to finish. Scheduling was a breeze, I received detailed and useful instruction beforehand on how to prepare for their arrival (by email and phone), and their followup email was further evidence of their professionalism. I would recommend them to anyone and plan to use them for my regular chimney inspections in the future.

The folks we spoke to were all incredibly friendly and accommodating. Ryan was the chimney sweep who came to the house and he did a great job. Big thanks to everybody!

I purchased their Angie's list Big Deal on 10/13 and about a week or so later called to make an appt. It was a successful Big Deal so the appt was a few weeks out which was fine. They called once to possibly reschedule a little earlier in the day which was also fine. He arrived on time, we had already cleared the way as instructed by a call a day or so before the appt. He covered the area around the fireplace and went to work. He showed me the camera view of the flue which was in good shape. He also advised that we not use the fireplace until we could seal the tiles which the former home owner had installed. The tiles were not sealed to the fireplace box and smoke would go into the walls. We now are planning to remodel the fireplace. There was a bag of nails and a rusted bucket of paint next to the chimney on the roof which he brought down for me.

Great experience, cleaned as promised and left the inside of house clean with no mess to clean up.

They seemed to do a thorough job. They showed me the view of the chimney from their inspection cam, but no recording was offered. They were very careful about not making a mess. They were friendly but very professional. They did recommend that I install a weather cap on the chimney, and gave me a quote. I was pleased that they were helpful but not pushy about this.

They made recommendations about what could come up in the future. I don’t know much about chimneys but I think they did a fine job. They came on time, they were very clean, and they cleaned up after themselves.
