Troy is very knowledgeable, friendly and honest. He has no problem with you standing there watching him work and in fact will describe to you what he is doing and why in great detail. I have used his services before. He installed the new garage door opener in 2009 and at that time gave several options (with price quotes) and explained the differences between the types of units - belt versus chain - without pressure. Unfortunately, he recently relocated to the Lancaster area and thus no longer provides service to my area. I have been trying to locate another local company that is as honest as Troy.

Garage door springs broke; after looking at how to fix, I thought it best I did not do this myself. Contacted Foothill Overhead Door. Was not urgent, so made an appointment. Troy came out as scheduled around noon, and looked at the situation. Turns out I have an old and quot;lift upand quot; door which I guess in the garage door world is like an antique. He did not have the parts with him, but said he could return about 4pm with the parts after he made a trip to his supplier (he called first to make sure they had in stock.) He returned at 4pm, and installed the springs, and did a garage door and quot;tune up.and quot; It was the first time since I owned the house that my garage door worked like it should (I used to use a 2X4 to prop up.) This man is a garage door savant - I have never met anyone that knew so much about garage doors as him. I learned more about garage doors in an hour talking with him that I ever knew possible.

Troy is very friendly and chatty and seems to know his profession well. He showed up on time and offered me a choice of different models of garage door openers, but he only had one with him, so I went with that one. The temperature was HOT that day, over 100 degrees and it had to be much hotter in the garage. But he finished in about 2 hours and kept his good mood, so I give him a lot of credit. Everything works fine now and I'm happy with the installation.

Troy was very easy to deal with - he was responsive, communicative, and fast. He knows everything about doors and operators. The whole project was complete in a week from the initial call to payment. He is good with email which makes coordination so much easier. New door was installed yesterday and works perfectly as it should.

Troy Fike, owner, arranged a two hour time-window appointment to give me an estimate for a new garage door. He did not show on time but called me 15 minutes late to say he could arrive 30 minutes after the appointment time or just cancel! I said cancel. He must have known at least an hour or more before that he would be late, but did not care enough to call to warn me. He left me stranded for 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Overall, my experience was great. Troy was great about setting up a time that worked with my schedule, called to confirm and showed up promptly. This is such a bonus because there's nothing I hate more than waiting for hours for a service provider to show up. He had the parts on hand and performed the work quickly and professionally.

Overall I have only good things to say about Foothill Overhead Doors. My garage door opener works great and the wiring is neatly finished.

When my garage door opener stopped working, I called my home maintenance insurance company for service. They sent a garage door company employee who said that the cause of the problem was that my garage door was not properly hung so they would not repair the opener. I turned to Angie's List and identified Foothill Overhead Door as a good choice. Troy came the same day and after a careful examination, said that there was nothing wrong with the door, but the opener was about 15 years old and specific parts were worn out. He said he could fix it or replace it. I opted for replacement due to the age of the opener. Troy recommended two openers and explained why he recommended them and the pros and cons of each. I made a choice, and Troy scheduled a day for the installation. He not only installed the opener, but he also oiled all moving parts on both garage doors, and added braces which would increase the life of the doors. He did this without extra charge. He then programed the opener in the car and carefully went through all of the procedures for safely and efficiently using the new opener. Troy has years of experience with garage doors and openers and knows what he is doing. He is honest, and goes the extra mile to do the job right and to make sure the owner knows how to use and maintain the new opener. My husband's first comment was that the doors are so much quieter than they were before Troy worked on them. I highly recommend Foothill Overhead Door.

I originally wanted a new garage door, because mine was old and not staying up well (which is a safety hazard). Troy priced out that option as well recommending a cheaper solution of balancing the current door, shoring up the wood work, and installing a electric opener. I went with the cheaper solution and have not regretted it. His work was excellent (especially considering the age of the garage). He's extremely knowledgeable. I think he's a little overbooked as I had to wait about a week for him to have time to perform the work - it was well-worth the wait.

Saturday morning I head out for a morning meeting, backed out of the garage, hit the remote, started down the driveway then heard a loud 'clunk' - the door was stuck halfway and slightly askew. No amount of repressing the remote would make it budge. Since I was on my way to a meeting and 'knowing' I couldn't get anyone out on a Saturday, i decided to wait until I returned home to 'deal with it'. Not expecting to be able to get anyone to come by until the following week, I looked in Angie's List for a garage door repairman in my area so I could leave a message in their queue. Lo and behold there was one very near my house. Checking the ratings I saw all A's and one F. Curious I read the F and concluded that the person was the one with the problem, and decided to call. To my surprise within the hour I got a call back from the proprietor, Troy. He asked me a number of questions about my issue and the door type, gave me a run down on what he thought it might be and let me know he most likely had the parts but if not how long it might take to get them. To my delight he said could come over in about 1.5 hours. He showed up on time, diagnosed the problem, indeed had all of the parts he needed and fixed the door straight away. He even noticed another issue in my garage which I had not (electrical wiring issue not related to the door) and pointed it out to me. He was personable, thorough, had everything he needed and took pains to describe what he needed to do and described the condition of my motor - (still in good condition). All in all a very good experience. What I learned was to definitely read a good selection of the ratings. In Troy's case the one non-A was obviously out of scope.

I called them on the phone because I recently purchased a new clicker that I need to program. I explained my situation and the guy told me to contact the place I purchased the clicker because they do not provide free tech support. I explained that I was not requesting free tech support and was interested to get the clicker set up. Needless to say, I did not hire their services. I understand that they don't want to provide help for free, but I never inquired for free help. All I can say is beware. I like to work with companies that treat me with respect!

We couldn't be happier with the service performed by Foothill Overhead Door. Our garage door broke the night before. I called Troy from Foothill Overhead Door the following morning and he was able to come out the same afternoon and do all the necessary repairs we needed. Troy gave me and estimate that I thought was fair and work began immediately. Troy took the time to really make out garage door like new again. It works so smoothly and quietly that you'd swear we had a brand new garage door installed. There was also a small item we noticed that we had not noticed before and Troy fixed it at no additional charge. He stood by his original estimate and completed the job in about an hour or so. I would recommend Foothill Overhead Door to anyone who needs repairs or replacement of their garage door. The job was top notch, the price fair and Troy is a real professional who know his business!

As planned, Troy arrived on time on March 31. He clearly explained what he needed to do to replace springs, his service costs and costs of new springs. He had all equipment needed to do the job and it was done in 45 minutes. He clearly is an expert when it comes to garage doors. I will glady recommend his services to anyone in need. He also repairs/replaces electronic doors.

Troy did an excellent job with the installation of the unit, he is very knowledable and professional. You could call him "Mr. Garage Door Man" Because he knows his job inside and out and is very informed regarding industry products in his field of work. You will not be disappointed with his work.

I will definitly use Troy again. He was very knoledgable and ethical compared to another vendor that just wanted to charge me for a whole new opener.

Troy was able to come out the very next day to troubleshoot our stuck garage door. Although the solution was fairly simple (a broken sensor), he took the time to inspect the rest of the door, lubricate all the hinges/joints and make suggestions on how to improve performance and increase the lifespan of our door. Super helpful and definitely worth the cost of the service call!

Troy knows everything about garage doors. He talked all about the things (durability, price, security, etc.) I might be curious about in advance, so that there were no surprises. His installation and parts cost less than others I called on Angie's list.

Splendid service! Arrived promptly, showed us how to reset garage lift motors, did the reset, then did not want any payment (we gave him something for gas, despite his protesting). He knows his stuff, describing various brands and their advantages/disadvantages while pointing out some errors in our installation, done by a different company now out of business.

He gave us two options---do the work to fix it and provide the missing/broken pieces or replace and install new system. We discussed the options and price differences, etc. and ultimately decided to fix what we have, saving us about $200. He also put some oil or something on the wheels or tracks of the door so that it is quieter. He seemed very knowledgeable and did the work quickly. I would call them again.

This is the second time we have used Foothill Doors. Troy initially installed a new Liftmaster garage opener for us 2 years ago when we first moved into our home. His prices were very reasonable in comparison to others in the Los Angeles/San Gabriel area. He is a true professional and very knowledgeable in garage door installations and repairs.
