Description of Work: I called Action Appliance Repair to fix my dryer. Mark and his son arrived when expected, did a great job of repairing and cleaning out my dryer, and were exceptionally pleasant. I would use them again in a heartbeat. I would definitely recommend them to my neighbors.

Description of Work: Checked out two pretty hopeless appliances and provided an honest evaluation. We decided that repairing them was not cost effective. I would, and will, call them again anytime I have a problem and highly recommend them to anyone. Nice guys, too!

Description of Work: I was very happy with calling Action Appliance repair--as my approx. 7 year old Kitchen-Aid-large side by side refrig/freezer-quit!! When I made the phone call on Wednesday morning-July 11,2012-Mark answered the phone--and reassured me that he could come out and repair it!! Also, he recommended that my Husband Tom and I -go out and by some dry ice, as my refrigerator was still cool, but the freezer had been out for a good 14 hours! It was a relief to know that he could get the required parts by Friday-July 13,2012. I received a phone call from Sue-who is extremely nice and helpful-and she made a time for the parts to be installed-by Friday around 12PM!! This was perfect! It would have been so much harder-if we would have had to wait until the following Monday--it's amazing how we take it for granted-that our refrigerator is JUST SUPPOSED TO NOT BREAK DOWN!! So anyway, we could tell, that Mark enjoyed his job-he explained in detail all that would need to be done, and he was very honest with the price-we thought it was quite fair- and being that this is a family business-well, we just like that! So when Mark showed up Friday-he bought his son-also named Mark along, and it is so nice to see family working together!:) I have nothing but great things to say about Action Appliance--and I definately would use them again! + -1 moreMarc came as scheduled. He though he had a simple fix but, when he tested it, found it still didn't work. He had to order a major part and came back to complete the repair. I personally prefer working with small, family-owned businesses, like this one. I find they are more responsive, more professional , and the end result is almost always more satisfactory.

+ -1 moreCalled Sue and got next day service on my Washer . Sue has been very helpfull on both calls . Mark showed up on time and has been great on both call . Quickly determined that the water pump was the problem . Had the part delivered and repaired the washer the same day . When discussing keeping my 20 plus old refrigerator - -need to repair a shelf , water flow , and installation trim he showed me that my black refrigerator –that did not match other white kitchen appliances was actually white underneath . Removed the black covering - and I had an almost new looking refrigerator - -very cool ! . So I decided Mark to repair those items on a later visit when the parts arrived - -which he did promptly and successfully , Now I have an “almost new “ refrigerator . Thanks Mark !

+ -1 moreMy 3 year old fridge "died" on Saturday afternoon, fresh side at 55 degrees, top of freezer at 35 degrees. Looked up local appliance repair on Yelp, found only Action. Got onto Angie's and found a number fo good reports. Called Sunday at about noon. Mark called back at 8 am Monday, gave a quick diagnosis of a dead fan and a quote of $200. He arrived promptly at 10 am, found the wiring harness to the fan was bad. He replaced that and looked at the other areas that were concerning me. He said that the harness was the only problem that needed to be fixed: $169.00 total. Mark was very nice and didn't mind my crazy cat that wanted to climb all over him. I would definitely call Action for any appliance repairs I may need in the future.
Description of Work: Repaired refrigerator that was not cold on fresh side.

+ -1 moreWhen I called Sue about the 2 repairs, she was very pleasant and professional on the phone. Her estimate was a little high, but based upon the positive reviews here I thought I would give them a try. When I agreed to the repairs, she said the parts would come in the following Monday and she would give me a call. Well, Monday came and went with no call. She did call a couple days later, however, apologizing for not calling and we scheduled Mark, the repairman, to come out the following week. When he arrived, Mark was also very pleasant and professional. He also didn't seem to mind my dog jumping all over him. He was quick and efficient and was done the repairs in no time -- a total pro. However, when it came time to settle up I learned that the cost would be much higher than what I was quoted. Turns out there was a mix up and Sue did not communicate the correct prices to me. Since the repairs were done to my satisfaction, I paid the bill, but not without some resentment. Then, about 30 minutes Mark left, Sue calls me up and apologizes profusely for the mistake and offers me a small credit on the labor, which I gladly accepted. I really appreciate the effort to win my business and will most likely use them again. However, I still think their prices are too high.
Description of Work: Repaired the timer on the laundry dryer and the door cable on the dishwasher.

+ -1 moreSue was a very pleasant first impression, and made the appointment on the day I would be home to accommodate my work schedule. Repairman was extremely prompt, was given an approximately time of between 2:00 and 4:00 and he was there at 2:00 on the dot (actually about 5 minutes early). Took a look at my 26-year old dryer and told me the problem and what it would take to fix it. Suggested that since the part would cost approximately $350, I might want to consider replacing my dryer. Since that had already occurred to me, I asked him about brands and reliability, and he gave me a ton of great information. Am still trying to decide what to do, but if I needed a repair, would certainly call them back.
Description of Work: Needed dryer repair, dryer gas line not opening enough to ignite pilot light every time.

Description of Work: Had problems with trash compactor, refrigerator, oven, washer and dryer. We explained the issues with the various appliances and the technician explained that many of the issues related to user errors. For example the front loading washer-we were using too much detergent and the clothes were mildewed. He recommended a tablet and a cut down in detergent-fixed the problem. The dryer vent was found to be clogged; I used the leaf blower to unclog the dryer vent and the compactor had somehow become locked which he easily unlocked after spending some time cleaning various areas of the trash compactor. The only real problem we had was a touch pad on the oven. This was the most expensive item and represented 80% of the cost.

+ -1 moreOur 10-year-old washer wasn't spinning. I called another appliance repair company repair first, and it was going to take over a week to have someone come out. I searched Angie's List and found someone in our neighborhood. Six positive reports made me feel very comfortable. They were punctual and friendly. They were able to come the day after I called. It was a great experience.
Description of Work: He fixed our washer in about 20 minutes. It was working except for the spin cycle. He found the problem immediately and took care of it.

Mark gave me a clear explanation of the problem and gave me recommendations on what repairs would be worthwhile. He also gave me information on where I could purchase a replacement refrigerator at a good price if I chose not to repair the existing refrigerator. Because the refrigerator was only 4 years old, and because I felt his price was very fair, I opted to have the repair done. The refrigerator has been working perfectly. Mark was prompt and professional. Also, he cleaned up thoroughly after the repair. He was also very informative regarding my other appliances and gave me several useful tips on maintaining my washer, dryer, and dishwasher. I would not hesitate to call Mark again, and I would enthusiastically recommend his company.

They've fixed both my washer and dryer (on two separate occasions) and in each case I was shown the exact problem, the part was in the van and I was confident I was being dealt with honestly. After getting the run around from another company, the straightfowardness of this company was wonderfully refreshing.

+ -1 moreWhat he told me made sense, and I had no reason not to believe him. He seemed to be very competent. I did find him on Angie's List, and he had a high rating, and I think that as far as I am concerned he is still an A. He recommended a place for me to go to purchase a new one and he gave me advice on maintaining a dishwasher, as it was because I had not maintained it properly that it died. He needed a towel, and he asked for one, he did not just grab one. I have other serviceman and they just grab for one which I do not care for. Also, he had me put on the sticker rather than him doing it himself, which I do like. He cleaned up after himself very well also.
Description of Work: He came out and looked at my dishwasher. He was honest and told me that it would not be worth repairing.

+ -1 moreThe knob broke off and we couldn't control the cycling of the machine - and this was four days before Christmas! We were all due to take trips out of town and we had to have clean clothes. We checked Angie's List and saw the reviews - the woman who answered the phone was most understanding and sent someone out the next day. They ordered the parts which came overnight and fixed it the next day. I was so happy I gave the repairman a box of candy. Very nice, calm people - just what I needed.
