Excellent service and very nice people. Only issue was that the cost was several hundred dollars more than my 3 other bids. Otherwise I would have used them for sure.

I am the principal Interior Designer of Everyday Elegance located in San Clemente, CA. I was in search of a new granite and tile installer and thanks to Angie's List found this amazing company to do work for one of my clients. The owner Abraham Pinnella was professional and extremely responsive and patient with my very involved client. The workmanship was SUPERIOR especially given the many intricate cuts involved in the decorative boarder and backsplash! They made me look good as a designer and I am thrilled to add them to my team of professionals! Thank you so much Abraham!

Dorothy and Abraham are husband and wife and are a great team and fantastic and wonderful to work with and do business. I highly recommend them and this company. They both aim to please and are very accomadating. I love the job, and it looks great. I am very pleased every day that I look at it. Abraham was kind enough to pick up me and take me to MSI where I brought the granite slabs directly on my credit card. Also Doraothy and Abraham made sure I only paid their price for the slabs which was very generous of them because they made no money on the granite only the labor. Their labor price was better than any other quote that I got.

He informed us that we needed to choose our granite and he came with us to a couple of granite yards to make sure we picked a good quality. I then received an email today stating he found the job was not cost effective or time effective, in which he terminated the job. He was a very nice man and had no idea he was unhappy about the job. I would not recommend him to anyone.

Response from MARBLE AND GRANITE IMPORTS INC
TOO MANY RED FLAGS! We did not terminate this job! We respectfully declined this project. We never worked on this project, never signed a contract and never accepted a deposit. We have been working with this client since October of 2013, trying to help them make their kitchen the way they wanted. We met at the slab yard several times where they chose slabs that were then tagged and moved. They then changed their minds. This is not that uncommon and we are happy to accomodate our clients. They then purchased different slabs from another company, which is also not that uncommon. This happened twice and we still went and inspected the slabs to make sure they would work for the client's project. We were then informed that the company where they purchased their slabs would fabricate much cheaper. When we reduced our price as much as we could this client started asking for custom details at no charge. They also wanted the slabs fabricated and installed in manner in which we were not comfortable. When we declined the project we told the client that not only was this job not cost and time effecftive for us, it was also not effective for them either. Sometimes both parties are just not a good fit.

Abraham is very patient and responsive. They worked very quickly on fabrication and installation. They were $3000 cheaper than another fabricator that I was about to use until I saw Marble and Granite Imports on Angie's List. The other places were giving me a estimated time of installation of 3-4 weeks after the templating process. These guys did it in 5 days!!! They were meticulous with the fit and finish and the edges. They did a great job of matching up seams even though I had a granite with a lot of variations. The installation guys worked hard and go the job done in about 3 hours! Wow! And $3000 saved!

We called Marble and Granite Imports due to their high rating and glowing reviews on Angie's List. Abraham was very responsive in answering our call and setting up an initial appointment. Throughout the process Abraham and his crew were very punctual and professional. I was surprised at how flaky or non-responsive some of the other companies I contacted were. After the initial consultation Abraham made appointments and met us at multiple stone yards and was very helpful in choosing the exact slabs as well as working with us on how to lay out the templates to best accentuate the unique features of our slabs when installed. We chose a brushed or leather surface granite and were unsure if it would be possible to do the bullnose we wanted because that would require grinding off the surface texture on the edges. Abraham had his fabricator do a sample bullnose on a small piece and it was perfect. He was able to exactly match the texture of the surface by carefully grinding the edge after creating the bullnose. We were pleasantly surprised and impressed not only with the fact that they could do this but with the craftsmanship and skill they demonstrated. We appreciated the can-do attitude and the fact that Abraham did not charge us additional for the increased amount of time it took them to do our special edging. Abraham odffered advice throughout without being pushy or trying to convince us one way or the other. He stated his opinion based on his vast experience and his guidance was very credible. This was a big help. The job was finished quickly and professionally and based on the other quotes we received the labor cost was right in line with other contractors. I am confident that the results and pride of work were better than we would have experienced elsewhere. I feel we received very good value for the quality of craftsmanship Abraham's team delivered. We found companies that appeared less expensive on the surface, but once you broke it down that was due to the materials being very low end and pre-fab. There's nothing wrong with that, we just chose material that we would really love long term and Abraham's labor costs were similar to even the low cost providers because many of them nickle and dimed with add-ons such as edging etc... My advice is to choose the stone you want first, and then find someone that will do a quality job installing it. The installation was quick and on schedule and the crew did a great job of protecting the area during install as well as cleaning up and removing the debris. We had a very specific look in mind and the granite and travertine backsplash we chose were at the high end of the price scale. I'm glad that we entrusted the job to Abraham.

After getting Abraham's name from Angie's list, I scheduled an appointment the next day for him to look at my project. On the following day we met at the stone warehouse where I picked out my granite and on the third day, Abraham's installers updated my countertops with the new stone. At all times Abraham was professional and helpful as he guided me through the process and explained everything to me. His crew was hardworking and professional as well. I am very pleased with the results

The guy was really good. They did good work but the guy who owns the place was excellent. He kept coming out to check. He came out and spent a lot of time talking to me and giving me ideas about the way to do stuff. When they did the job, he kept coming back out. He was just really involved. I think the price was fair.

I will say one thing about Abraham. He is always on time. Now for the complaints: The first problem I encountered was I bought the wrong sink. I wanted an undermount sink and mistakenly got a drop-in. Abraham said I could use the drop-in sink as an undermount. I asked if he was sure, because the box said not to use it as an undermount sink. He said yes. After he left, his foreman told me it would look terrible if I tried to use a drop-in sink as an undermount, and also that the Kohler warranty would be voided if I did. So I went and got the correct sink. I don't know why Abraham would say I could use the wrong sink. The company wanted to do the demo and install in one day. The foreman had mentioned that it is a very long day for the workers. Since I had not moved in yet, I said it would be fine if they wanted to do the demo one day and come back another day for the installation. The day they came to do the demo, I thought the foreman would be there, so I was in no hurry to get there when the workers did. Someone else had a bad experience with Abraham, and one of the things they complained about was that the foreman was not there supervising the workers. Abraham responded to that review and said the customer was right and he would do better next time. So I assumed from his response that the foreman would be there. Well, there was no foreman at my place either. The workers were taking out the old sink and could not do it because a leak developed and they couldn't turn off the water. (As it turned out, I had to call a plumber for the problem. It was not the workers' fault.) But when I first showed up, they were still trying to get the old sink out, and they had put a sponge down under my sink to collect the dripping water. A SPONGE to collect dripping water. The workers did not speak much English and I do not speak much Spanish so we couldn't communicate. They got the foreman on the phone and I spoke with her. I asked why no one called me. She said, "We were trying to work it out ourselves." I still don't know how much water leaked out of that sponge and under my cabinets before I got there. They should have called me immediately about this. After they demo'd the counter, they put the plywood sub-base on. I have an angled bar top above the kitchen counter. The plywood was not level, and I was concerned about them putting the granite over it. Abraham told me, "Don't worry about it. It will be fine." That is what I was told whenever I had a concern: "Don't worry about it. It will be fine." He refused to address any issues. I asked for him to come out and meet me about the bar/countertop not being level before the granite was installed, and he said he would send his foreman. His foreman never showed up. That was a complete waste of my time. At this point I was feeling very uncomfortable about the company and considered trying to find someone else to finish it, but I really have no knowledge about granite countertops and their installation. I chose Abraham's company because of their high rating on Angie's list and they were not reflecting the A rating that they had. I thought if I changed course in the middle, who knows if I would get a worse job, so I tried to just trust that everything would be okay in the end. Abraham wouldn't give me an install date and kept putting me off. He finally gave me a date. The workers showed up and worked all day without lunch or water, so I personally bought them lunch and drinks and snacks throughout the day. They installed the counter and the bartop counter. They showed up at 9:00 or 10:00 in the morning and were still there at 9:00 at night working, when I finally said I needed to leave. They still weren't done. The outlet covers weren't put back on, they hadn't finished cleaning off the excess material, etc. When they left that night, the battery on their truck was dead, so I called Triple A to get them a jump on their battery. I did not leave there until 10:30 that night. I don't know how they could possibly have done my place in one day. And I don't have a big kitchen. All day long, Abraham's foreman was complaining about Abraham, that he doesn't know how to measure, and he is so cheap and doesn't pay his workers enough, on and on. That didn't make me feel very good to have a worker badmouthing the company they work for. At one point, the workers needed some more screws, so the foreman asked ME to drive to Home Depot and buy screws. The bartop was not level at all and looked awful. They also went up so high on the backsplash (9 inches) that they couldn't even put the switch plates on the electrical outlets. Abraham said, "Well, you said you wanted us to cover the damage from removing the old tile, so we went up higher." They certainly did not need to go up that high to cover the old tile removal. It looked stupid to have it up that high. Abraham said he would put the switch plates back on. The only way he could do it was by cutting off the bottom of the switch plate to make them fit. It looked terrible. Extremely shoddy and unprofessional. The bar countertop was not level and it was a very noticeable. There were areas where they never finished removing the excess installation material. During the initial stage when they came out to measure for the granite, Abraham had said there would be enough granite left over from the installation to put a granite top on my cabinet shelf in the hall. The foreman forgot to measure for it that day, so since she wasn't out there during the demo, she called the workers and told them to measure that spot. The worker measured the wrong spot. The spot he measured was much bigger, so there was not enough material for the fabricator to cut all the pieces, and they had to piecemeal cutting the granite in my garage to install it. It was filthy from all of the cutting of granite and they didn't clean it up. They left gouge marks in my floor. During demo, they never bothered to pick up screws that went flying. I called Abraham a few days later and said the job wasn't acceptable. He ignored my calls and texts. It wasn't until I threatened to take legal action that he communicated with me. Although I didn't want him in my house again, I learned that by law, you must give a contractor the chance to fix the work. So they came out and tore out the backsplash and made it a normal height, but they had to piecemeal that too because some of the granite broke when they took it out. They took off the bar/countertop and reinstalled it. My boyfriend was there that day, and he kept telling them it wasn't level. They worked on it until it was. I have no doubt that if he hadn't been there, it still wouldn't have been done right. These are not professional people. The whole process was a nightmare and took longer and cost more than I expected. I was delayed from moving in to my new home. The worst was the constant anxiety that I felt dealing with it. It was extremely stressful. I'm glad some people have had good experiences with the company, but I certainly didn't, and would not recommend them. A note about Angie's List: I called Angie's List in the middle of all of this to inquire about a formal dispute. When I told the person on the phone the name of the company, he said "Well, they are one of our highest rated" as if to imply that I couldn't possibly have a complaint about them. Then he changed the topic and all he wanted to do was try to get me to write a review, any review, about anyone I had any kind of experience with. Really?!? I told him I was in the middle of dealing with this problem, and writing a review for Angie's List was not my priority. Because of this experience, I am cancelling my Angie's List membership and going by word-of-mouth referral for any projects in the future.

This client has a beautiful kitchen despite the fact that she did not follow our recommendations. She did not live in the home and was extremely uncooperative regarding scheduling, meeting us at the job site, etc. .As per our many reviews, we are extremely conscientious, responsive and timely. We were sorry to see that she cancelled Angie's list, too many vendor complaints.

Abraham is a gem! He is everything a needy, detailed client could ask for: Professional, responsive, patient and insightful. From the start, Abraham was quick to respond to our initial call, setting an appointment and providing a quote (e.g. a competitor provided a quote over a week after Abraham). His explanations of the process were very clear. Having to select the granite slab was an adventure for us (especially with two rambunctious toddlers!), but Abraham was very patient. Even more so, Abraham provide expert advice so that we weren't forced into a decision we'd regret. The actual installation was painless. His crew arrived on time and were very respectful and efficient. Unlike other bids we received, his team was able to complete the job in one day (a long day at that) versus a competitor's two day estimate. The final result provided the 'Wow' factor that we enjoy showing off to our family and friends. Abraham is truly unique among the world of contractors! He's trustworthy and contentious of your needs. From start to finish, he makes you feel as though your needs are essential and will be fulfilled. I can't wait to work with him again!

Abraham was very rude to me on the phone when trying to work with him. I guess he has gotten so busy that his customer service is SERIOUSLY LACKING. I live in the bay area and was trying to get some work done for my condos. I told him to call me when he gets to my condo, so that I could give him the code to get in. He did not want to work like that, and refused to go to the unit.

TOO MANY RED FLAGS! We made a decision not to work with this client. This lady made us very uneasy and we just decided to pass on this one. She did not live in the area and wanted us to go to her condo to give her an estimate. Of course we agreed to do this but we requested that she have someone meet us there as we do not like to go into someone's vacant home without anyone there. As she was so insistant because she lived out of the area, we agreed to make an exception. We set a time for her estimate and were informed that there was a code to get in. She would not give us the code. She wanted us to drive to the unit, call her and "wait for instructions" as she told me repeatedly "I don't trust you or any one". We called her again for the code as we pulled into her complex, again she refused to give it to us.She would not give us the code until we were standing in front of her unit. We just felt that we were not the right person for this lady. We work so closely with our clients and something just did not seem right about this. This lady made us very uneasy and we just decided to pass on this one.

Abraham and his team did an exceptional job. We weren't exactly sure what type of granite we wanted and Abraham spent a tremendous amount of time meeting us at granite yards and locating the exact perfect slab. We set an aggressive timeline for completion and his workers showed up promptly and finished on schedule. They paid attention to the smallest of detail and delivered and exceptional end result. Best of all, they me their quoted price which was quite reasonble. We couldn't be happier with Abraham and his team and I definetly plan to use them in the future.

Abraham, the owner, and his crew did a good job with good materials at a good price. Was always professional and punctual. Workers were very careful about dust when cutting openings for sink, etc. and left everything clean. Seams and joints are virtually invisible. We have had many compliments about the countertop. Made one referral who is now another satisfied customer.

We have been in the process of preparing a family home for move-in as our primary residence. The home was built in the 90s, and so we wanted to upgrade the kitchen countertop from the existing tile/grout to granite. We found Marble & Granite Imports through Angie's List and decided to go with them based on the positive reviews and the prices represented in those reviews. Abraham was always prompt in his responses, whether by phone or email. After providing us with a detailed estimate, he met us at the slab yard to select our granite. Abraham was very flexible in terms of scheduling and graciously accommodated last-minute changes to our schedule. Abraham also met with me at Lowe's to help select a tile backsplash, and even offered to pick up all the supplies once we made our tile selection. Our kitchen countertop and mosaic backsplash were installed shortly thereafter over a course of 2-3 days. His crew was always punctual and professional. The only cause for concern was our mosaic backsplash, as the tiles are not entirely lined up straight in several areas, and so parts of the backsplash look crooked upon inspection. While I notice this right away and it does still bother me quite a bit, my husband says he can't really tell unless he looks closely. I realize the tiny mosaic tiles are not exactly symmetrical in size or shape by nature, and so lining them up precisely may not be possible. If I were to do anything differently, I might have chosen a different tile for the backsplash for this reason. In any event, we were pleased with the overall look of the kitchen and so we asked Abraham to do our master bathroom as well. We were looking for a carrara marble vanity, and as luck would have it, Abraham happened to have a slab left over from another project. The vanity was installed quickly and without incident. Overall, we are very pleased with the work in our kitchen and bathroom. Abraham is professional as well as kind. I will be keeping Marble & Granite Imports in our contact list for future projects.

A couple of problems arose along the way but nothing major and Abraham took care of them in a timely manner. The work was excellent and the price was reasonable. The project took 4 days to complete which was a day longer than planned but that was no big deal. We had to hire an electrician to install the cooktop and hood because Abraham's man was on vacation. Abraham adjusted the price to compensate us for my our of pocket expense.

.Let me first say I NEVER do reviews. This one however, needs to be considered before hiring this company. When we contacted Abraham, it was only because of the recommendation from Angie's List. We had no other knowledge of him before that. He came out on time and seemed to be professional. He pointed out that our cabinets had been installed too closely together and needed to be redone. We did that. Then, he sent his guys over to do the job. Mind you, this was not a house we were living in at the time so we were not able to see it done immediately. When the job was done, he took final payment automatically and informed me by email that there was some spots from the glue and they would deminish in "a few days". After 10 days, the spots finally lightened. Then we had a crew at the house to finish the remodel details and put the stove in. We at that time discovered the opening for the stove was NOT cut out properly and could not install the stove. Also, at that time, we found out the granite was never sealed when put in. I was not happy. So I contacted Abraham on that Saturday and he said he would have someone come out on Sunday and fix the problem. Sunday went by, no answer or word. When I contacted him on Monday to see if he'd been out there, he informed me "we will not be in your area until Weds" via text. He did sometime between that time, come by and seal the granite. Weds came and not one word from them as to if the job had been completed or not. I went on Saturday and found out it had. I expected at least notification that the job had been completed. I did not even get that. I was very disappointed at the lack of professionalism and would strongly NOT recommend his company in the future.

Response from MARBLE AND GRANITE IMPORTS INC
1. In our 30 years of business this client was by far the most verbally abusive client we have ever dealt with. The derogatory treatment with which they treated our staff and installers was appalling. It appears that in buying this investment property that they “got in over their heads” and were looking for a reason not to honor their commitment. 2. As always, we maintained our standard high level of excellent professionalism. 3. The counter-top was flawlessly installed. Some clients have extremely unrealistic expectations of how remodeling crews should run their business. We spent many extra hours with this client in an effort to be flexible and truly helpful. Although this costs us time and money money, our goal is for our clients to have a beautiful project. Most of the issues were due to their inexperience regarding home remodeling and the projects that they were trying to do on their own. 4. As always, we maintained our standard high level of excellent professionalism. 5. There was an initial problem with this client. He had installed the kitchen cabinets himself. They were not leveled, and were not in line with each other. The openings for the appliances were too small. Granite counter tops cannot be installed on uneven cabinets. Abraham spent about 2 hours showing the client how to re-install the cabinets correctly. There was no charge for this consultation. He did re-install the cabinets before we installed the counter-top but did not follow our instructions as to the width needed to account for the standard overhang. As we told them, it is standard procedure that the appliances that are involved need to be on the job site as a fraction of an inch can make a big difference in the excellence of a finished job. We went back and trimmed back the sides to account for the client's mistake. 6. There were extreme difficulties in communication. Mr. and Mrs. (clients) insisted nearly all communication be by text or email, and refused to discuss most issues by phone. At times, they would not respond to email for 2 or 3 days. As much as this disrupted our schedules for our crews and other customers, we continued to accommodate them. 7. Even after repeated requests, they would not leave our names at the guard gate. Our crews could not get in, and we would have to try to reach them to call their gate guard for entrance. 8. They would not tell us where the house key was placed, so again we had to contact them so the crews could begin their work. The next time our crews showed up, they had hidden the key in another place, so we had to contact them again. This caused much down time for our crews, and delays in completing the project. 9. Our recommendations that they be present during installation were ignored. This is important for explaining and resolving issues, and informing the clients, especially on the day when the project is completed. It is useful in avoiding misunderstandings. 10. Regarding the glue spots: when installing a lighter colored granite the glue spots sometimes appear as wet spots. They usually take a few days to dry. In this instance, no one was living in the house as it is a rental property, it took a few days longer as they would not leave windows open to let air circulate. This is not a problem it just takes longer to dry. 11. The clients were uncooperative to say the least, and at times hostile.

They were very knowledgeable and friendly. I was really pleased with the work They did. They were helpful in helping me pick out a backsplash. They showed up when They said he would. The price was good, and the crew was great.

Abraham came to my house and provided thoughtful design ideas with patience and amiability. He recommended we visit a tile showroom where we found tile that resembled our inspiration photo. It was obvious he was listening to what I was describing. The correct amount of material was ordered - not too much, not too little. The crews were top-notch, they arrived on time and were highly skilled and neat. Everyone was patient and cheerful, even when I asked them a hundred questions. The floors are beautiful and the installations just scream skill and quality. Even the guys from This Old House would be impressed!
Description of Work: Removal of all ground floor materials and installation of UrbanFloor engineered maple from the Chiseled Edge collection (family room, living room, dining room, powder room, and entry) and Italian porcelain tile (kitchen, laundry closet, and hearth).

We are very happy with the entire experience. Abraham was patient and there was no pressure throughout the job. He met us at the granite supply house and was very accommodating when we asked to see many options. It turned out the one he initially recommended was the best. He knew it but happily led us all around the huge slab warehouse so we could be sure of what we wanted. We were also a complete nightmare about the backsplash, changing our minds about what style we wanted many times. He never got impatient and very happily tried to get us what we wanted. His crew leader was very communicative and was happy to discuss in detail what their plans were for installation. I did not agree with the approach they wanted to take on the difficult back counter so we brainstormed for a brief period and came up with a much better approach. What was really impressive was how they solved a surprise problem with that same strange counter when we pulled out the backing. It had a void we didn't know about and the slab piece for it wasn't big enough to reach all the way to the wall. They took the stovetop cutout and added an extension to the back of the slab and it came out virtually seamless. They then worked an extra 4 hours on a small, 4" odd corner of the back counter to make it absolutely perfect since it showed very prominently. I firmly believe you need to interact with the people doing the work so they can understand what is important to you and perform the work to your desires. Otherwise, they do what they think is best without any personal investment in the project. If they are willing to listen and adjust their approach to conform to the customer's vision, that is the difference between a good job and a great one. This crew was willing to listen and perform the job the way we envisioned. In the end, it all looked beautiful and was done in a day. The backsplash was done the next day and sealed the day after that. Pretty painless all the way through, at least for us. For Abraham, probably not so much...
Description of Work: Demo of old kitchen counters and backsplash, installation of entire kitchen granite countertop, backsplash, and under-counter sink. Also did cutout and drop-in of new stovetop. Very difficult back counter installation because of unusual shape and custom appliance rolldown garages.
