Mario Diaz Flooring

Mario was the only one of three potential contractors contacted who was willing to accept the job as the floor is 80 years old and the material at the hardwood floor joints is getting very thin from previous refinishing. Indeed that was the reason that the patching was needed. We were planning to leave our home for another home shortly anyway so he had several days before the Christmas season to finish the task. He did an excellent job, the result is fantastic. He had to do a few more planks than he anticipated, but held his price. Only issue at all were a few marks from stain on the walls and baseboards which will be easily touched up. Should additional flooring work be needed will call him again.

Mario came in to take a look at our floors and suggested we keep the natural color and buff and add 1 coat of finish. The day of, he and his crew were prompt and did the work as contracted. He even went out to purchase a water based finish to help protect a heavily worn spot that made it look even better! Above and beyond a great team, would definitely do business with him again. The floor looks like a work of art. He was on time. The crew went outside to have lunch, 20 minutes later they were back working again. He said he would be here at 9:00, and he was here 15 min. beforehand. I could not be more pleased. He repaired sections. He fixed a dip in the living room floor. He worked hard. He is a real good guy. I appreciated his professionalism. He went above and beyond.

Installation was a breeze. Was told it would take two days when it actually took one with some light patching for the second day. Great job.

Very prompt. Responds quickly. Initially, saw some remnant sanding swirls in dining area after completion. Called, reported the problem, and the problem was corrected within two days.

I was supposed to pick out materials at a supplier in downtown Los Angeles. They are open only during the week when I don't drive in Los Angeles. I think samples could have been provided to make things easier.

I cannot say enough about how happy I am with our new floors. Mario was a pleasure to work with as well as his crew. He was very informative about all my questions and concerns. I was on a time deadline and he reassured me it would be done in time. His crew was very friendly, showed up on time, polite and conscientious about their work. My wife and I had a very good flooring experience with Mario Diaz Flooring. Mario is very knowledgeable about flooring and is very customer centric. Mario and his crew did a wonderful job installing a floating hardwood floor in our kitchen and dining room area. Mario was especially helpful in assisting us getting the best quality floor within our budget. I would definitely recommend Mario, he’s easy to work with and does what he says he’s going to do.

Mario came for the estimate and spent a lot of time going over what would happen, how the work would be done and what we needed to do to prepare before they came and what we needed to do after the floors were done and how to properly care for them. He is very good at giving you all the info you need and answering questions and advising on options. they showed up on time and started working right away. his crew are really hard workers. they didnt slow or stop for anything. they work well together as a team, work hard and truly take pride in their work...they did a really good job. i was really impressed with his crew. It took less time than originally estimated....the only hold up was we had to wait for a larger piece to be found and prepared for installation. Mario kept me informed of when it would be ready. he did a really good job - my floors look really nice and his price was very affordable. he really tries to give a fair price for the work. the baseboards installation was for just installation only. did a good job for a fair price. it was only installation - we painted it before hand and are doing the touch up after installation. I have no problem recommending him to anyone....he is honest, fair and does a good job. O

I was highly pleased with Diaz's service. They were on time, polite, and did the work beyond my expectations. Mario quoted a 4-5 day turnaround on the approx 1100 square foot job and completed the work after the third day. As with any redo, there are bound to be a few complications. The existing flooring in the master bedroom had been chewed up by termites some time ago which left some damage. Mario and his team immediately found nearly duplicate replacement wood (hard to do considering the existing wood was 80+ years old) and made the repairs. Finally, Mario spent some time with me at the end of the job discussing how to care for my new floors. I appreciate the service level and will use him again for future flooring needs.

The work took three days with the first focused on sanding, the second applying the first coat, and the third spent on touch ups, a final cleaning, and applying the last coat. The floors look amazing. I was impressed with their attention to detail, punctuality, knowledge of not only the trade, but my type of floors and what would make them look the best. I highly recommend this company.

It took them two days to complete the work. They were very professional, punctual and friendly. The wood floors had not seen the light of day for years and when the carpet was removed there were some very dark areas. We were afraid that we would have to repair them and that would mean an additional expense, but Mario and his crew were able to work magic. I would highly recommend them.

Mario is very responsive. He did great work for a great price. He was on time and the work took the amount of time he said it would. There was a little confusion on minor details, but I actually think at least some of it was my error in memory. Even so, Mario was very responsive and easy to work things out with. It has been over a year and my floors still look new, even though five people and a dog live here. He matched the molding to my floors and it looks great too.

I found Mario Diaz Flooring on Angie's List and contacted them via email. I received a response right away (the very next day). Mario called me and asked for some details on my flooring and the repair needed. I asked him for an estimate and he said if I sent him some pictures he could give me an estimate. This was really convenient for me because that particular day I was at work until very late, so I sent Mario pictures around 9pm and he had a reply for me right away. I think we first spoke around Monday or Tuesday and we scheduled his visit for the following week, but he ended up coming earlier because he had an opening. This was great too because it was good to get the repairs underway. On Friday, Mario showed up with two other people and they started the work. Mario said the wood I had was actually something that matched an open box he had, so he just brought wood from an open box. He said this was better than ordering another box for the small hole I had. I was really grateful, the match isn't exactly the same, but this is completely not visible because a washer and dryer cover this up. They fixed the whole in about 2 and half hours (max). I was very happy with the completed work. I had been postponing this repair for quite some time and Mario's crew fixed it so quickly. What a relief, I don't have to worry about air escaping the house any more or worrying that some critter will find its way inside the house!

This company was LAZY!!!!!! Didn't want to come to the house to give me an estimate to replace some termite damage and refinish the floors so he asked me to send him pictures with measurements. He gave me a quote WAY OUT OF THE BALL PARK price. THEN I got an email from his family relative showing pictures of termites damage to badly eaten home. NEXT, I got a call from that relative Jose, asking me when did I need him to come out to get rid of the termites. OMG, WHAT A SCAM!!!!!!! Stay AWAY people!!!!!!!! Who knows, my next call would have been another relative that offered cleaning. Geezzzzzzz!!!!

Mario was prompt in returning my call and in setting up an appointment for the estimate. He and his crew showed up for the repair on time and were very professional in how they carried out the work. The floor looked great after the repair. He and his crew were very communicative of the status during the entire repair and were very approachable in answering any questions. Mario was willing to go the extra mile to ensure we were happy with the work. I would definatly use this company for new flooring as well as repair/refresh of existing floors.

Mario did a great job for us. He removed the flooring from the kitchen and placed it in our entry. I wasn't even there when he did the job but, he kept me informed by sending me pictures of what he was doing. We were very impressed by his work and his crew. The machine they used to sand did a very poor job of collecting the dust. They did little to no prep work in preparing for the dust. They did not seal off our closet doors or vents. Even with our closet doors closed everything inside our closets got covered in wood dust (including my wedding dress, electronics, etc). All walls, ceiling lights, window seals etc had to be wiped down after the job was done because they were covered in wood dust. You can see dust in the finish on the flooring (looks like small bumps in the finish). They did not tape or remove our baseboards so we had to spend a weekend repainting all of them ourselves. The first night they left our windows open with screens out, we had to close the windows ourselves to make sure our house was secure. They threw sharp objects (nails) out our windows into our backyard that luckily we found before any pets or kids got hurt. When they finished they left our bathroom sink running which we did not notice for over a day because we had to wait for the area to dry. The project took a day longer then what was estimated. The finished look of the floor looks nice however I did not expect to spend my time cleaning up all the dust from everything and painting base boards.

The house I have is all hard wood flooring. They did a very nice job. I would defiantly use their services again. I would also recommend them to others.

We ended up finding another solution to address our dummy vent/grates, but because of Mario's willingness to consider doing a small job, and because of his responsiveness to our request for an estimate, he would be at the top of our list to call in the future if/when we have flooring needs.

First of all, he was very punctual. That was a good sign. He then evaluated my floors, and given my situation, told me the best route to take (bang for the buck). He recommended a light buffing/sanding, followed by a new coat of semi-gloss polyurethane. Had some boards that suffered water damage, not only did Mario professionally replace them, but he applied a slight stain to them to match my other boards that have become naturally darker over the years. Other deep black scratches he sanded out to a more natural state. Mario is s straight shooter and gives you insight to the industry and the pitfalls when dealing with major outlets and chains. This service call alone was worth my annual subscription to Angie's list. Will definitely use Mario again on my next home. My floors look beautiful after he was finished.

There is no one else out there who can do what Mario and his crew can do. If you need a hardwood floor refinished or repaired, this is the place. We have renovated over ten homes, have hired countless contracting firms, and we've seen it all. Mario owns the place, always shows up himself, and also brings a crew. So you have the best of both worlds -- enough people to do the job as quickly as possible but the lead talent always there to participate and supervise. That never happens, except with Mario. This particular job was to remove a coat of paint and refinish oak hardwood floors in an old Spanish home built in 1923. Mario and his crew stripped the paint, sanded the floors, repaired some needy termite areas, refinished and coated the floors. They got the first part done in our small house in one day. When we found a corner that had more severe termite damage, they returned to patch that corner, and you would never know it was a patch. They also expertly fixed a doorway where new tile installation had created an elevation change. Go ahead and call others for a bid if you wish, but you are missing a bet if you don't include Mario in your bidding process. He will not leave the job until you are happy. My husband is more than picky, never satisfied. He said today that Mario is one of the best there is. That never happens. This is the place for wood floor refinishing and repair, and please don't hire someone who only does new floor installation to ever approach anything in this category. It is an art, you need a craftsman, not someone who is out to sell you a new floor. Call Mario.

Very professional and great attitude. Most importantly, fair! Most appreciated Jose's expert and techical knowledge plus problem solving for our dilemma. We had mismatched flooring, budget, and a 1/2 concrete and raised foundation to work with on leveling. Unfortunately, my husband and I decided with our lifestyle wood flooring would not work for us. If we had gone with wood, we would have definitely picked this company for the job! Thank you for the estimate and the knowledge. Very appreciative!

Mario and his crew was there on time. He noticed that my floor did not need a deep sanding at this time and suggested a lighter sanding and coating. This was cheaper and the floors look great. He was up front with all of his charges and finished on time. I would highly recommended him.
