Joshua's Plumbing

I initially contacted Joshua's Plumbing around Nov 12 about clearing the area drainage. I called his office and talked to his receptionist/assistant. Joshua texted me back and said it would cost $500-600 and would involve snaking and hydro-jetting of the drain line. I texted him back and asked about availability of dates. The next day I sent him a picture of the area since there were 2 trees next to the drainage line. He then texted me back and said that because of the trees there was probably 'severe root intrusion' and that "I might put 5 hours or more trying to clear said line and it might be necessary to trench and replace line anyhow. I am not trying to be negative but this is going to be a tough job." I texted back and suggested that I have my gardener dig the trench and he could just take care of the blockage and re-pipe where necessary. I texted him on Nov 13 that my gardener would come Nov 23 and he would dig a 30 foot trench for $350 (the length of the area along where the trees are). On Nov 16 he texted me back and asked for pics of the trench and that he would quote me a price. I sent him pics the following day, Nov 17. On Nov 18 I texted him again and asked when he could come and do the work. I later called his office and talked with his receptionist--I explained that I didn't think he could give me an accurate estimate from the pictures alone and requested that he come to my house and look at the project in person. The receptionist said he would come to my house Nov 25 between 3-5 pm to give me an estimate. I received a call from his office at 9:13 am on Nov 25, but was unable to return the call until noon. After 3 tries, I finally got through to the receptionist. She said she would have Joshua call me. When he called, he said that he assumed that I didn't want him to do the work because I didn't respond to the estimate that his receptionist sent me the week before. I explained that I never received a text with an estimate and he said he would have her re-send it. I waited, but received no text from her, so I called him back an hour later. He said that the estimate was $1068.00 (this is approximate since I have never received anything in writing and didn't write the number he gave me down). I asked if he was coming that afternoon as had been agreed last week and we could discuss the job in more detail. He said he was already working on another job and couldn't come until the following week. I asked why he wasn't coming out to my house that afternoon, since we had an appointment. He apologized, but said he was too busy, and couldn't make it until the next week. I said I was going to be out of town next week and the open trench could fill up with mud if it rained. He said he was too busy to come any sooner. I told him that was unacceptable and hung up. Also, I asked why the price was now double what he originally quoted to clear the drainage pipe, and he said he was going to use some really good pipe that roots couldn't get into. However, I went to Home Depot and 'ordinary' PVC pipe for 30' is only about $25, and the trench was already dug. I ended up replacing the drainage pipe myself in about 2 hours. I didn't have to spend "5 hours" snaking because I just cut out the section of pipe that was blocked and replaced the pipe.

Joshua was prompt and professional. He is very honest and doesn't try to sell you services that you don't need. Also very helpful about answering questions on other plumbing issues. We will definitely call him again the next time we need a plumber!!

Joshua was very friendly and very professional. We received two quotes for this work - Joshua's plumbing and another plumbing company - and Joshua's price was about 50% less than the other company. The work involved replacing a cracked undermount sink in our bathroom and also installing a new ring under the toilet (which involved removing the toilet, placing the ring in place, and reinstalling the toilet). He arrived on time, offered to clean the tile area around the base of the toilet that was stained, was very tidy, and kept us informed of his progress. It took him 2 hours to complete the work, which seemed reasonable. I would definitely hire Joshua's Plumbing for future projects.

Joshua was very professional and on-time. His work and service were excellent. He even gave us advice on replacing our washing machine hoses for flood safety. We will definitely support this local business again.

I live in a condo and the HOA management company referred Joshua to me. I started getting mold in a hall closet. The first time Joshua came out was to assess the cause of the leak. Based on where my water was located outside, we came to the conclusion that I probably had a roof leak which was causing the mold. My roof was scheduled to be replaced and once that happened, a mold remediation team came out and ripped out the dry wall. It made absolutely no sense, but my main water line was routed through the closet. I called Joshua back and told him about it. He was able to come out right away to take a look at it. Luckily it was a very small leak and he had to come back out a third time to replace the portion of the copper pipe that was leaking. Joshua was extremely punctual all three times that he had to come out to my place. He was so nice and friendly and he always took the time to explain to me what he was doing. The poor guy had to cut out and solder the copper pipe in my small hall closet, which was enclosed in plastic (because of the mold) on a very hot day. He did everything without complaining and even took the time to joke around with my 6 year old son. I will absolutely use Joshua again, if I ever have any plumbing issues and I will definitely recommend him to everybody I know. He was on time, kind, knowledgeable, honest and extremely affordable. I feel so lucky that I was referred to Joshua.

This was my 2nd time using this plumber. He does excellent work. I wanted the highest efficiency water heater they could find. They went out of their way and spent several hours looking for the heater that met my requirements. They replaced intake-outtake fixtures, platform for the water heater etc. Highly experienced - can't go wrong with this company!

Response to Joshua's response: Joshua's response is full of lies. He alone performed the repairs, there was no "we" involved. There was no talk of a temporary solution nor a more permanent repair, budget issues, repiping, etc. He intended his repair to be permanent, as he referred me to a drywall installer to cover up his work. Attached is a picture of his high quality work, for which I paid $450, hardly a budget solution. I chose him because of his good reviews; perhaps he was having a bad day when he made my repairs, but an honest man would own up to it and not lie and blame me. Potential customers can judge for themselves.

Joshua was great. He arrived early and with a smile. On a rainy day, he crawled under my mother-in-laws home and discovered a huge lake! He crawled under found the source of the leaks and replaced 2 defective fitting. Advised us to have a return visit after the lake drys up. He was a muddy mess but came with a smile and explained everything that he had done.

They did a good job. They were fair priced. They have done a really good job each time. I totally trust him and I really like him.

I called them on a Wednesday I believe, and this company said they would call me back, however I did not receive a call back. So, we called Affordable Plumbing Heating and Air, and they took care of our issue.

Joshua arrived on time and I proceeded to show him the problem areas. He said these were minor issues and explained how I could make the repairs myself. He told me what and where to purchase the materials. I tried to pay him for his time and advice but he said it wasn't necessary. What great customer service! At some point I will need a plumber and will definitely call him.

He is always so friendly and helpful. I never feel rushed. He will spend time explaining things and give you good ideas and tips on how to deal and prevent future problems.

I contacted this business to give a price quote for some work. I provided some photos and an explaination of the scope of work. Just be aware he will lead you on and waste your time giving you the impression he will price your job. Then for no real reason he might decide he just doesn't want the work. He could have saved me several days if he would just be honest. He did not return emails or texts, or voice messages.

I had no hot water. The electronic control on the gas valve to my water heater was fried. Joshua can on short notice and diagnosed the problem. He informed me I needed new Gas Control Valve. He gave me a list of places to possibly find one. I spent several hours calling and on the internet because the manufacturer could not get me the part for four days at the earliest having missed the east coast last ship on Friday. They would have to wait until Monday and even with overnight air shipping at extra freight I would not get the part for four more days. ( Yea like I can go four to five days with no hot water) I located one and then late in the day asked Joshua to come back to install it. He came back that same day and got me taken care of. Give this guy your business!

While things always seem to cost more than I expect, I was very happy with the work that Joshua did. He offered good options, arrived on time and did excellent work. We will definitely use him again the next time we need a plumber.

I have no complaints about his work--it was fine,and he was very polite, but he did not clean up his mess and left it for me to clean up. His price was very unreasonable. He worked about 3.5 hours and was paid $450; one more 3.5 hour job and he would have made $900 for one day's work. I don't know anyone who makes that much money in a day; a couple of friends with Ph.D's don't begin to make that much money in a day. Had he been reasonable, I would use him again and again. Whatever rebuttable he has doesn't negate the fact that he overcharges and gets away with it because people pay.the amount he charges. My electrician of 15 years charges $45 an hour, and electrical work is certainly more complicated than plumbing.

Joshua showed up on time and safely repositioned the gas line to are stove. He was very professional and I will highly recommend his services. - Thanks Joshua for the great work!!

Customer service was outstanding. I have an elderly mother and he was so kind and patient with her. I left several messages and they were all answered promptly. His work was outstanding. He was on time, and extremely professional. Overall I would rate our experience with Joshua's plumbing as exceptional. Thank you Angies list for helping us find him. We will be using him in the future.

He was very punctual. He showed me his card to identify him immediately. He was a very pleasant person and tried to fix my old garbage unit to save me some money. However, it needed replacing as I knew it would. He commenced to instal the unit I had already bought and within 30-45 min he was done. His job was clean and efficient. He gave me a discount and I ended up paying within my budget range. I will definitely call him again for my plumbing needs.

So glad we called Joshua's..and more importantly that he (Josh) had time to do same day service. He actually showed up on time and got right to work. He was informative, didn't overcharge for weekend service and got the job done. He spent a good two hours working his tail off and wouldn't leave until he was certain all was working as it should. He also provided some great, low-cost recommendations for keeping the line clear. Anyway, we were so impressed with the overall experience that we have him coming back in 2 weeks to replace our water heater.

I will definitely call Joshua's Plumbing the next time I need a plumber. I set an appointment for Joshua to be at my house between 2:00 and 4:00 to fix my water heater. He called me at 1:00 to let me know that he would be at my house at 2:00. He arrived on time and brought the necessary parts with him to complete the job. He completed the repairs quickly and the area was as clean when he left as it was when he arrived. He was polite and professional and I believe that his price to complete the job was very fair. I will use Joshua's Plumbing again and I recommend his services.

Highly recommend Joshua. He is personable, shows up on time and his prices are fair. He completely cleaned up after the repair. Best of all, he showed me how I could fix the flushing problem myself rather than charge me for repairs. That's integrity.

He answers quickly when you call and responds very quick. He neglects things that are not necessary. He is willing to work within schedule and when needed. He is able to find things, fix something with another plumber who is not able to fix on much lower cost.
