Description of Work: They reupholstered 6 formal dining room chairs. They had a large selection of fabrics to chose from and showed us samples of what they were currently working on. They offered several references. They missed they original delivery date as they were extremely busy and could not keep up. They were higher in price than others we contacted but considering the workmanship and selection they were well worth the wait. An excellent value for the cost.

Description of Work: I really enjoyed working with Jose. A true professional! I had him reupholster my wingback chair and sofa sleeper. Turned out great. The cushions were better than new. I have continued to use Amar Custom Upholstery for additional work.

Description of Work: I had Amar Upholstery reupholster 6 dining room chairs. Mr. Jose Vera is professional and he provided me with a realistic time frame in which the chairs would be completed. My dining room chairs look beautiful. I would highly recommend Amar Upholstery to everyone.

Description of Work: Mr. Vera, owner has done work for me before and I am very satisfied with his work. This time I had him reupholster a sofa and matching ottoman in leather. He arrived a bit late but had called me to tell me he was running late. He did a beautiful job! He is a true craftsman and takes great pride in his work. He always has good prices for the quality of work that he does. Pick-up and delivery are free and returns the furniture as promised. I will continue to use him for all my furniture recovery needs.

Description of Work: Reupholster couch and re-stuffed cushions and refinished the wooden feet on the couch. Was very patient when we came to picking out new fabric. Prompt when he came for the estimate and the return of the coach after the service. Would use the company again. Great work.

 + -1 moreJose Vera was very prompt in giving an estimate, and the price was very good as well. He performed the reupholstery within a week's time. I had been told by another company they would need my couch for a minimum of three weeks. When he returned the couch, I had some issues with the pillows and cushions being "overstuffed". He took all the items in question home and changed them to fit my excact desires with no extra charge and with a strong professional manner. I was vvery happy with the finished product.

Description of Work: We were very happy with quality and professionalism of Amar. They did everything they promised and did it on time. we recovered two large chairs and a large sofa in a beautiful leather. We wanted the best quality for the best price as we did not want to get a new set. We could not find anything comparable . We also had another set restuffed and cleaned. It is a Barnhart set and we wanted to keep it. We had a time issue and they worked overtime to get it for us before a memorial service we had at our home. We appreciated the consideration. it was an easy experience for us when we needed something to be easy.

 + -1 moreI found Amar Custom Upholstery on Angie's List. Not to far away and well recommended. His price for real leather was $1075 and $550 to $580 for fabric. I decided to go with real leather, figuring it should last another 30 years. The owner, Jose Vera came over with a lot of fabric and leather samples on a Sunday, because I work every day but Sunday and Thursday. His price was fantastic. He ordered the leather the next day and called me the following Thursday (4 days later) that the leather was in. He picked the sofa up Friday before I went to work. He Called me next Tuesday that it was done, but I was just leaving for work. He brought it out on Thanksgiving morning! He really puts his customers first and works with their schedule. The sofa is absolutely beautiful! I love it! The quality of the leather is excellent and his workmanship is fantastic! This sofa may outlast me! When my living room sofas need work, I will definitely call Jose Vera of Amar Upholstery.
Description of Work: I had a custom made sofa about 32 years old. It was well-built, but dirty and worn. I called the company that made it and to reupholster in real leather was too outrageous. Fabric would be $1100 to $1200.

Description of Work: We went to his place of business because I wanted to see the quality of workmanship. He showed us several pieces of furniture he was working on. He has samples of materials that he'll order for you. I has seen some yardage in the garment district of Los Angeles that I wanted to use. He told me how much yardage I would need for the sofa I had. He had pictures of different styles of sofas. He should me what materials he would use (seat and pillows). We scheduled the pickup and gave me the date he would return it to us. He brought the sofa back on the date agreed. We were very happy with the finished sofa.

Not only is the quality beyond my expectations, but the promptness, caring, and professionalism was incredible. I'm recommending to the highest level to everyone that I know who needs an upholsterer as well as to everyone in Angie's list!!! and beyond. There are few people today who take their craft so seriously. I am blessed to have found such a man.
Description of Work: Jose Vera came to give me an estimate on two chairs that have been in my family for over 60 years. I had purchased the material and he gave me a very good price. He took them the same night he came for the estimate and at the last minute I asked him about the seats on my dining room chairs. I was going to recover them myself but his price I couldn't beat so he took all 8 chair seats as well with the material for them also. In less than a week he called to tell us that everything was ready. I cannot begin to tell explain what an incredible job he did. Not only are they beautiful, and comfortable, but he absolutely takes his craft very seriously and is a true craftsman. I will definately use him again and I want to highly recommend him to everyone. I know I will be telling all my friends about him! I want to give him A+ in every category!!!!

 + -1 moreI dropped off the cushion on a Monday, and was called on Saturday that it was already finished. They did an excellent job of recovering it, and added more feathers as well to make it fluffier. They are very easy to work with, and have been in business for so long, their business practice and quality of workmanship has a proven record. I will not hesitate to use them again! UPDATE: The family heirloom chair that they recovered for us looks like new. We couldn't be happier with their attention to detail and outstanding work!
Description of Work: They recovered an ottoman cushion with yardage from their own stock UPDATE: They also recovered a chair for us, and did an OUTSTANDING job. He replaced the cushion and "cleaned up" the wood on the arms and legs. The work was completed in less than a week - very timely!

 + -1 moreSince I have a minivan and the chairs would fit in it, I took a chair to Amar Custom Upholstery for an estimate. Jose knew exactly what color I wanted after I described it and showed me several fabrics in a few different shades of the color. I picked the fabric out, he gave me an estimate and I returned home to bring the other three chairs to him (I don't live far at all from his shop). Easy peasy. He figured the chairs would be done in a few days. Oh my! The chairs were ready the next day!!!!!!! And are really, really beautiful and much more comfortable to sit on that they have ever been, too! For the record, I picked Amar Custom Upholstery based on reviews/ratings on Angie's List.
Description of Work: Reupholster four dining room chairs that I had made a mess of reupholstering myself. Put in cushioning that is better than the original.

 + -1 moreThe guy that did it was great. He was excellent. He was very nice. His prices were very, very affordable. He was the cheapest of all the people that I called. His work was good. The company that he ordered the fabric from messed up the color on a couple of the chairs and when I told him he accommodated me and got the new fabric with the right color and redid the whole thing for free. He was really nice.

 + -1 moreJose has been in business since 1979. Fifteen years ago he re-upholstered our living room sofa, love seat, dining room chairs, and two living room chairs. Ten years ago he re-upholstered our family room chairs and den sofa. In all, he did an excellent job and this furniture is doing very well despite the wear over the years. His workmanship is excellent, and we especially like how he matches the patterns and stripes. We went over to his shop and he helped us pick out the fabric that would wear well in a kitchen table situation. The seat of the chairs also needed some extra padding. Our kitchen chairs were done in five days and came out quite well. He matched the stripes very well and the padding on the seats made them much more comfortable. He also sewed up a runner of the same fabric for the kitchen table. The chairs and the runner look very nice.
Description of Work: Re-upholstered 4 kitchen area (nook) chairs and provided a table runner of the same fabric.
