The new cushions with pillows for the bench that were made turned out perfect and we are so happy with the work. They fit the bench perfectly. The sectional couch not so much. Each sectional was done by another person and it showed. Jose took it back twice to try to fix after showing him the problems but the last time they gave it back with a hole in the back-like a magazine holder. Very weird. I give him credit for trying to fix it but they had the couch for almost three months and acted like they fixed each time they brought it back. Such a disappointment since now others don't want to work on it.

I am so very pleased with the results of the re-padding, but Juan also fixed a loose back, and had even cleaned the chairs before returning them. I cannot recommend this company enough! I will certainly share my experience with my friends and family.

Very nice and easy transaction. Jose brought over tons of samples. Sofa was picked up and returned on days promised. BEAUTIFUL job! In addition to reupholstering it, Jose added filler to poof it up. It's a feather-filled sofa and now feathers are no longer popping out unannounced! Jose actually made the sofa MORE comfortable; didn't even know that was possible. Very nice man, very good service. No hidden costs. Free pick up and delivery. Highly recommend.

Jose Vera at Amar was great. He brings samples right to your home, so you can compare fabric samples with the other furniture in your house. I initially called him to have six dining room chairs reupholstered. He did them at a fabulous price, and they looked perfect. Not only did the fabric look great, but the chairs felt great - the padding was now firm again, and comfortable. I thought he'd done such a good job that I asked him to look at two other chairs, one of which had a matching ottoman. He brought back fabric samples and I selected what I wanted, and he reupholstered those also. They also look great - I feel like I have a whole new living room at less than a third of the cost of what new furniture would have cost me. I also should say that when I was looking up reupholsterers on Angie's list, I forgot to check the box that specifies within what distance/radius. So, when I reached Jose, and told him where I was, it was quite far from his place of business. I apologized, and said I had forgotten to select a distance on Angie's List and that I'd look up other businesses. He immediately said, "Angie's List? Oh, well for an Angie's List member I should come that far; could I come on a weekend though, since traffic will be better?" (Amar is in City of Industry, and I'm in Westwood!) It worked out well; I was just flexible about when I met him (weekend, and the final delivery of my chairs he did on Thanksgiving morning).

They were wonderful. I'd really recommend them. I might use them again for my recliner. His prices were really reasonable. You can't go wrong. A+++

Jose came with tons if fabric choices. He promised pick up and delivery on reasonable dates and met each date. Very good experience.

I called Jose on a Tuesday and he came to pickup the Sofa on Saturday morning and gave me a quote on the spot. He was very reasonable. He and another gentlemen pickup the sofa and returned it one week later in perfect condition. If and when I ever need help again, I would hire and recommend Jose in an instant.

We called the owner during the week and he was able to come over on a Saturday when we were home. He brought fabric samples and talked about what he could do for our couch. He picked the couch up the next day and gave us estimated that we would have it back in a week. I think we got it back in 8 days. The work was top quality, very nicely done. He asked us to call if we had any problems.

He was very accommodating. He's great, but he's always running late because he's trying to please everybody, so he's over-scheduling himself, but he does great work and you have to just be very clear.

Jose upholstered my arm chair. The chair was in very poor condition and it came out looking like new. Since it was a Mother's day gift, he did it in one day. My mother was very happy and surprise. I was very please with the workmanship and price.

Mr. Jose Vera arrive at my home on time with assortment of all types of fabric to choose from. Jose explained what he would do and how long it would take to complete. Jose returned chairs on time and explained if we had any problem call him as all work was guaranteed. A problem came three days latter, I called Jose he came back to my house and pick up the chair for repair. the chair has been returned and the problem resolved and I am satisfied.

Their service was great. The price was great and the chair is still in great shape 3 years later. The one that the manufacturer repaired for me when we first got the chair that had the same problem, is bad again. So these guys were good.

I got 2 estimates and Amar was as almost 1/2 the cost of the other estimate. I dropped it off on Saturday and the job was done on Thursday. The cushions were firm and the job as done nicely. I would use them again.

I had a sofa and another entire sectional recovered. Great job. Great price. My sister is using them now.

Amar Upholstery owned by Jose is more than fair and available to provide service. Jose is a kind man who loves his work and is proud to show his ability through his art. He came over and brought a multitude of fabics to choose from and gave great advice on a fabric to choose for our home and lifestyle. He came back the following Saturday and picked up the couch. He was happy to take, appreciating the antiquity of my piece. After approximately 10 days he returned and I now have a new beautiful couch. This couch has sentimental value and has been in my family for over 30 years. We are very happy. It's beautiful!!

Amazing. The wooden chair was not only repaired but polished and it looks almost new. It took some time for me to find a fabric for the chair, but once I selected the fabric, the work was done in a week. I was a little nervous as the upholstered chair had belonged to my grandmother and needed to be tightened up, the springs replaced and the little metal nails replaced. The chair came back in amazing condition; it doesn't wiggle and feel like it's going to fall apart any more and the craftsmanship of the upholstering was excellent. I will absolutely be calling Jose back to re-do a sofa and two living room chairs.

He was very nice, but there were communications difficulties (and I speak Spanish well enough to be understood by my housekeeper).

Jan 4 I called Amar Upholstery discussed 4 chairs I want reupholstered. As agreed, I sent a picture of one of the chairs I never heard back. On the phone I gave him all of my information: address, phone number e-mail address. I am looking for another company to perform the service.

Each experience I had with Amar Upholstery went fine from the initial estimates to the agreed upon times of delivery and thegreat quality of his work.

It was great he did more than I expected.

After deciding whether buying new or reupholstering a much loved 17 year old sectional sofa was best, I called Jose to come and give me an estimate. I was totally impressed with this man and his knowledge. Though this high end sofa is still being made by the manufacturer, Jose pointed out that it would not necessarily be the same quality of 17 years ago nor the same price. He was so right - the pricing of the new was more expensive using "selected" fabrics that I had zero interest in than a reupholstery using something I loved. The old was so structurally sound that paying again for lesser quality made no sense. Despite the fact that Jose came with dozens of fabric books, I decided to use a fabric sample found elsewhere. He called the maunfacturer right away to find how quickly the yardage could be ready and made arrangements to pick up the sofa accordingly. What a beaufitul, beautiful job! The workmanship truly exceeded my expectations. Even though I loved my "custom' fabric choice and trusted Jose to do a good job I still had little doubts about changing my old comfortable friend of 17 years, I should never have worried. Everything about this project was right - the outcome - the price- the service- the man. I am truly delighted. I would recommend Jose and his shop to anyone. .

Jose came on time, accomodating my schedule (travel and long work hours). He brought lots of samples and options from which to select. He also offered great suggestions. The work was done perfectly and deliverd on time (8 days later). I cannot say enough what a great job he did. I am so pleased. It is rare to find such a craftsman in this day and time. Jose deserves the high praise and for his work ethic.

Jose never showed up or called me both times I contacted him.

I'm very happy to report that we got the couch and recliner back, oh my god what a difference!The couch is spectacular, all the support was better than the couch was new, Jose was so meticulous with our couch, his craftsmanship is all represented in the finished product.The recliner is more comfortable now than the day I purchased it, we were so satisified with his work,we gave Jose another recliner and a 80 year old easy chair to upholster, we are confident that it will turn out georgeous.I would recommend Amar for any Upholstery job you could have.Amar Custom Upholstery still has the old the world Craftsamnship that is missing in a lot of businesses now days, his prices are the lowest I have found.I have 2 great companies that I have found on Angie's list, for Plumbing, Hart-2 Hart, and Amar Custom Upholstery, top notch on all accounts, never disappointed.I'm a firm believer in Angie's List, I tell everyone I talk to about my positive experience with these companies and Angie's List. We couildn't have asked for a better result. His work was of the highest quality and his professionalism was first rate. Several of the items to be recovered had to have major repairs made to the frame and his work was excellent.
