Surf City Termite & Pest Control

07/19/2013: Inspector arrived on time and did a thorough inspection. He did seem to have a bias toward tenting but in this case it is the proper treatment. I accompanied him and saw the additional signs of infestation. Another major spot of termite dust appeared on 08/03/2013. 08/05/2013: Received a call about 15 minutes before the appointment window giving a closer estimate of arrival time, still withing the original window. Technician arrived within 5 minutes of that time. He did the subterranean and ant control applications. He was professional and personable. He gave me the preparation packet and asked me to review the checklist while he performed the application. The list is straightforward and I could tell him I had no additional questions when he asked before leaving. The work took about 1 1/2 hours. 08/12/13: The crew arrived within 15 minutes of the start of the estimated arrival window. While some of the crew began the tenting the final inspection was done. They found a couple additional things they asked me to double bag and had me triple bag the food in the freezer because they couldn't spot the tie for the interior bags. I was already gagging when we left the house and it was only half covered. I had them use their alarm system. They did trigger the alarm twice and the police responded the first time. I was able to contact the the police and stop the second response; I hope I have no more false alarms this year so I don't get fined. The crew leader had me call the company and verify the alarm was set before they left. 08/14/13: As I had requested, I received a call an hour before the crew was due to arrive at the house. The crew was there and the house was open when I arrived. It had been properly ventilated and there was no residual smell. 08/22/13: Called Surf City to tell them about the tenting weight my gardener had found and to report it smelled like something had gotten under the house during the tenting. They will send someone out 08/23 with a window of 8:00am - 5:30pm. A later call confirmed a 4:30pm - 5:30pm arrival but they would call if an earlier time opened. 08/23/13: Surf City called at 1:30pm and said they could have a tech out at 2:00pm, I agreed. Tech arrived at 2:00pm, checked the smell, changed into coveralls and went under the house with disposal bags and disinfectant. Dead cat removed and area sprayed with disinfectant and odor neutralizer. He was professional and personable. Tech took care to leave area clean; even went into the street and downwind from the house to shake the dust off his coveralls.

My inspection appointment was scheduled on Tuesday between 9am - 10am. At 10am, I called the company and the receptionist said the appointment was scheduled from 3pm - 4pm. What?! How can they change the appointment time without letting me know? I wasted my morning waiting for this inspection to occur. I cannot tell you how disappointed I feel. In business, first impressions makes a huge difference...and my first impression of Surf City Pest Control was not very positive.

The workman was punctual and did his work efficiently and professionally. He did not seem scruffy or "creepy" (as workmen sometimes are). He was willing to answer whatever questions we had about the insect problems we had and the treatment he was providing. I believe he did a thorough job and was concerned about making sure we were satisfied with the service he provided. He offered the additional service his company provides but wasn't pushy about it.

It was quick and easy. Just had to be out of the place for a couple of hours. Happy with the results.

I ordered the IN/ OUT service deal that was provided by Surf City. When the technicians showed up they asked if the office explained that we had to leave for 2 hours after the interior treatment. When I explained that I have family here in town and would like to reschedule for Fri. the technician told me he would just do the outside and the interior was optional. He refused to come back another day and did the FULL outside spray which took less that 20 min. Im so glad I blew 100.00 on a 20 min half a** job. This is the opposite of customer service and I DO NOT recommend

They were prompt in their arrival and polite. They came out a total of four times. Two of those times they treated the yards and inside the house. The fourth time they treated the yards and garage only. The second trip was actually to retreat the garage with a fogger because with the first treatment, the fogger did not function properly; most of the chemical inside the can did not diffuse or empty out properly. This was evident because when the can was shaken, there was still lots of liquid in it compared with the other foggers which, when shaken, were completely empty. So they did a second fogging of the garage, using a different brand of fogger. The original contract was for two treatments about 10 days apart. They gave a 30 day warranty which is why they came out the fourth time as the warranty period had not expired and I was still seeing evidence of fleas in the garage. I could see them on my feet when I went into the garage and I also used those light/sticky paper flea traps sold at home improvement stores so that after each treatment I would put a new sticky paper in the traps and could monitor how effective the fogger/ spray actually was. They did tell me to give the treatments two weeks to completely work and I did so. I was plagued with two feral mother cats and their kittens in my yards which contributed to the problem. I believe the problem has been solved, at least it seems so.

From the first telephone contact through the day of service, Surf City was professional and courteous. They made an appointment for the inspection of my home at my convenience. The inspection was handled in a very professional way. Fernando was very nice and helpful. On the day of the treatment, they arrived right on time. They answered any questions and I felt comfortable leaving my home in their hands. They finished before scheduled and called me to let me know they would be done earlier than expected. They left my home in very good condition, no mess anywhere. Again, Fernando was very courteous. I highly recommend Surf City.

After a few days, we still have spiders int he home. We called them back and they said it takes a few days to kill all of them. After a few weeks, I still saw some bugs inthe home; we called them and they came out and sprayed again.

My experience with Surf City Pest Control was okay. They came out right away. They were prompt, on time and they explained every thing. I expected the ants to be gone but they weren't.

We used the service for my mom's condo. They did fine. They had to fumigate the place, and it helped, but they had to come back, and they laid some traps and they were able to catch the rodents. They ended up getting a cat.

Great! I had bought a big deal. They contacted me right away. The guy came on time, explained everything to me and was very efficient.

Although I was not onsite at time of arrival or treatment, it was reported to me that the service provider was punctual, thorough, and professional during the entire time service was provided. Provider was able to schedule appointment relatively quickly, which was much appreciated due to worsening ant infestation. Good results, too. Problem fixed and no reappearance.

We had bees between an old wood fence and fiberglass panels screwed over the wood fence. We called SurfCity Pest Control, made a quick appt. and Fernando came out to inspect and remove the bees. He provided us with an estimate and gave us an angie's list discount of 10%, totalling $337. He removed the fiberglass panel, removed 80lbs of bee hive and a bag full of bees. About a week later, a swarm decided to come back in the same location. SurfCity Pest Control informed me that we had a 30-day warranty and sent another technician out to remove the remaining bees. No bees decided to come back. Overall, it was an easy, pleasant experience. Price, given 80lbs of hive and lots of bees, seems reasonable.

The exterminator arrived just barely within the quoted window. I was a little uncomfortable with that because I had told them I had a very tight schedule that day. But he did finish quickly and the job went well so I can't complain. He was very friendly and worked quickly.

It was a very good experience. The technician showed up when he said he would, he was very professional, he did a good job, and it seems like it has been effective. It was an online special, I didn't spend anything in addition. I would use them again.

They came out and did a great job. They corrected our misdiagnosis of infestation and treated for it carefully since we have a newborn. Very please and plan to use them again.

I was very satisfied with this provider. The technician arrived on time- explained the procedure and we had to leave to take our two cats to the Cat Hospital for flea treatments. When we got back the provider had done the job and we stayed outside to air out the house before bringing the cats back inside . I would be glad to employ "Surf City Pest Control" again.
