Surf City Termite & Pest Control

By far, the best contractor experience I've ever had. Surf City did exactly as promised at the lowest price of several bids. Termites are gone! Work was finished on time, completely hassle and worry free. Extensive carpentry and wood repair was top quality and performed with speed and precision. House looks like new. Even neighbors have made favorable comments. I highly recommend Surf City Pest Control and its owner, Gina Arzate. Gina is extremely professional, knowledgeable and the very best at what she does. As if that wasn't enough, she is always upbeat, personable and likeable. Her team of 'termite busters' and expert carpenters, Allan, Fernando, Pedro and Nathan are extremely hard workers, courteous, easy to work with, respectful and outstanding at their craft. Her office manager, Gabby, is also very polite and helpful. They will not disappoint. We had major termite infestation and related wood damage all over the house exterior. Dozens of areas were effected. Gina stayed involved for the entire process. She even gave us her personal cell number and was always available to answer questions, respond to issues and solve problems. She promised to get rid of our termites completely and on time without harmful chemicals. She delivered on every commitment. and was completely and personally engaged from beginning to end. Before they started, Gina came to the house and did a thorough inspection. She identified the areas where the termites were located. She prepared a complete report for me showing those areas that needed to be treated, the wood repair necessary (including non termite related wood rot), the procedures they would follow and a detailed price and materials summary. Based on the number of termite areas, Gina recommended tenting. But because of my wife's lung illness I asked Gina if she could suggest a less potentially harmful approach like orange oil. Gina said she did not think orange oil would do the job for us. However, she said she could solve our termite problem by spot treating each effected local area with a borate-based termiticide, insecticide concentrate applied directly to the wood. She said it would be safe for humans, pets, environmentally friendly and longer lasting. No need to leave the house or bag food or dishes and most importantly, not at all harmful for my wife. Gina even gave me the name of the manufacturer who I called to discuss the safety and efficacy of the product. Gina was sensitive to our needs and tailored an approach for our situation. The bora care worked as Gina promised. It has been 9 months and we have not seen a single termite or dropping. (FYI - They also treated for ants which are also gone.) The termite mitigation was quick, thorough, neat and effective. The carpentry work performed by Allan, Fernando and Pedro included repair and replacement of termite damaged wood and wood rot all around the house. They even performed extensive caulking and rebuilt my entire second floor wood deck. They primed and treated ever piece of new lumber before it was put on the house. The termite treatment men and carpenters were always on time, and cleaned up all wood scraps, nails and debris every day so you would have never known they were still working on the house. They even wore booties over their shoes if they had to come into the house. They were all very respectful of people and property and took their cues from Gina. If you have a need for pest control (whether tenting or local treatments with a borat based/borax derivitrive) and require house repair you will be very happy with Gina and her team at Surf City Pest Control in Huntington Beach. They're the BEST!

Charge was outrageous for putting a small wire in one area that rats might access to get to our attic. They then gave an outrageous price for cleaning out our attic. Called the manager of the company who said she would refund our money if we did not give her company a bad review. When talking to Angie's List we were told it was not up to the company to refund our money but Angie's List. They did when we explained what the company did on their visit to our property. I then had our contractor vacuum and clean our attic for $600 instead of the $9500 that I was quoted by Surf City. I would not recommend them.

I was worried about bed bugs and he did a careful search of the whole house and took apart the bed to check everything and showed me that I was clear, that it looked like I had a might problem and said that this spray would take care of it. I was so worried about the bug problem I got the set of 3 sprays over the year and it was just 4 months and they called me that it was time for the next spray. I am very happy how this has all gone, the bug infestation was hard and they took care of it with a lot of professionalism.

I wasn't too impressed because the people were about to leave and they had to spray the attic. They also didn't spray the little shed that we had. When they came and did the inspection, they said that it would be done. Someone came back and they sprayed the shed. I had problems contacting them at first. I don't think I would use them again. They had people they can't communicate with too well. The price was good and the responsiveness was good. When I finally made contact with them, they came out.

They were fine. I have no complaints. I wasn't there, my wife was. They were responsive to our requested schedule of time to come out. As far as I know they were polite. My wife said they did a fine job.

Service is multi-stepped, but so far so good. The estimator was very knowledgeable of what was needed to get rid of my complaint items (yes, there are alot). They are very professional and are easy to schedule. There is a three year warranty on my service, so time will tell. I have hope, though! The next phase is scheduled for the beginning of October.

They have always been prompt and efficient and do the work for the price quoted. They have very friendly service personnel and are extremely diligent in following up on scheduling and the work performed.

The fachia board along back of house needed to be replaced. Instead of using 1 board the correct length he used 3 short boards. I had to pay to have boards filled, sanded and painted.

We received a phone call from their office to notify us their technician would arrive within 20-30 minutes which he did. Arriving on time is as important to us as receiving excellent service, which we received. This is the second time we used Surf City and they assigned us the same technician that came on the last job. That proved beneficial with his input on other things we can do to keep those pesky ants from getting inside my home. Excellent service John, Thank You.

fumigation went well. The individual that came out was on time and professional. I had only one complaint when he told me he did not have time to wipe down any cobwebs. I called the company and spoke to the owner. They arranged to have someone else come out and this guy was excellent. He wiped down all cobwebs on outside of house, fence area, behind and inside of garage. He dd an outstanding job. I have used other pest controls for the same work and this company outranks them all

I had called Surf City for some insects that we had throughout the house. We had no idea what they were but were turning up in the laundry room light fixutres, bathrooms, and kitchen. At first the scheduler told us it might be termites which scared us since we just moved into a new house. When the technician came he said they weren't termites which was a relief and he said they were house fleas. The service men sprayed the entire house and was considerate in giving me adequate time to gather my things and make sure my baby and I were ready to leave the house for a few hours. He even made make-shift shoe covers. A few days later the insects started to decrease in quantity but then a week later we started to see an increase again. I had to call Surf City again because the issue wasn't taken care of the first time. Another technician came out and said the insects were another type. I wish the initial technician knew what the insect was so they could have treated adequately and I wouldn't have to re-schedule them to re-treat. Other then that they were professional and on time so I would definitely use them again.

The technician arrived on time and was very knowledgeable. He worked quickly and professionally. A few weeks after the initial spraying I still saw spiders and they returned indoors and outdoors rather quickly so I'm not sure if it was effective.

Everyone at Surf City is fantastic, from the service professionals that come to our home to the people on the phone. They are my go-to company for pest control. We moved into a new place about a year ago and there was a small infestation. Since then, we've seen absolutely no activity.

We found them on Angie's List, and they didn't have a special going on in what we needed, so we called them, and they came out to do the job. They were prompt, courteous, very professional, he looked very professional, and they did the job very quickly. I would definitely use them again.

We had been using Surf Control for both large and small vermin issues. There initially were several issues without resolution resulting in a very negative review, but Fernando, the co-owner of the company came over personally and did what was possible to help with the pest issue as well as address our concerns. He was able to turn what was initially a very negative impression and service to a positive one for the household. Because of this, I've changed my review and would definitely use his services again in the future.

First John came out for the free termite inspection and Surf City provided a written report. I had another company come out for a second estimate. The price was about the same, but they found one more tiny area to be treated than Surf City did. However, I felt more comfortable with Surf City and wanted to give my business to them. So, I called to see if they could add the additional spot to my estimate and contract. John came back a couple of days later and agreed to include the additional rafter treatment in the contract. No additional charge as I bought the Angie deal. On the day of the work I received a call saying they were on their way in about 20 minutes. They arrived right at 8 am to start the work. One started in the attic and the other outside. We had a few places that needed wood replacement and several that needed patch and repair. The did a great job. The wood replacement looks better quality than the original. Just how they cut the wood to fit. Really nice work. Plus, they were very neat and tidy and cleaned up after the work was done. They even used our left over house paint to paint the new wood and over the patch jobs. We just had the house painted last year. I believe you cannot go wrong with Surf City. The are accommodating and friendly from your first call to the final visit.

They would not do a one time service as they require you to be on a contract with them for doing the work on the repair on the wood in our entry way. They wanted to get rid of the termites and then rebuild the part of the home that had been infested with them. This was mainly the front entrance and fascia board. My husband just wanted them to spray the termites but they would not do that.

The technician arrived early and gave a good evaluation of the problem and offered his advice on green vs regular pest treatments. We wanted the green treatment because of our 7 month old daughter, but he assured me that the regular treatment was more effective and completely safe for babies. Even though the green treatment was more expensive, he didn't try to upsell us on something we didn't need. He was quick to treat the outside of the building and both units of our duplex. He put on shoe covers to ensure he didn't track any dirt or debris into the house. He also offered to help me out with a wasp nest problem I had at no charge, but I declined since it was daytime and the wasps were probably active. Overall a good experience with an honest company. There was a hiccup with the billing, since I purchased the $95 deal through Angie's list, but they were quick to apologize and remedy the situation. I haven't received my refund check yet, but am expecting it the mail any day now.

I wasn't there but my dad said they did a very thorough job. Very honest and when I over paid told me to expect a refund. The check came and I didn't even have to follow up. Notice flea was gone after second treatment. very satisfy customer.
