Troy Kumprey, the owner, showed up when he said he'd show up (a small yet surprisingly important detail I've learned to appreciate) and gave me great advice on colors, with the goal of lightening many of the colors, particularly one bedroom that doesn't get nearly as much light as the rest of the house. Then he sent a drywall person to repair the many holes in the walls, primarily the result of having replaced all of the electrical wiring in the house, but also various other dents and nail holes from the previous owner. The painters showed up several days later and rapidly moved everything in the rooms to the center of those rooms, covered them with plastic, and attacked the job. They cleaned the walls, sanded them and smoothed the drywall patches. Over the next four days, they painted the main walls, the ceilings, painted the trim and finished with the bathroom and one bedroom. Their attention to detail was incredible, and the quality of the drywall repairs is such that I just don't think about my earlier drywall problems -- they only exist in some photos I took the week I bought the house. I was fairly astonished at how quickly it came together, particularly since it's an older house, built in 1922, and there's lots of trim, and it's complicated trim. It took one day for the drywall, then they came the following Monday morning and worked until Friday, which are the starting and ending dates Mr. Kumprey had given me, which is another thing I appreciate. When I bought this house, I knew it was distressed, and I had to spend a lot of money to make it safe (and insurable), but having the interior repainted had nothing to do with safety. However, it had everything to do with making it a nice place to live. I literally could not imagine how much better the house could look with a truly professional paint job, but after seeing the attention to the smallest details and the consistent quality of their work, I have no doubt that it was a good decision and money well spent.

The man who came to talk to us was very peasant. He was very informative. He was very helpful. He was also honest. He was also punctual and professional. I would not use them in the future.

They did very good. They were efficient and on time, just like they promised. They had no problem adapting when I changed the dates.

TKO and their subcontracter did a great job. I have used them before and they always do quality work.

They were not that impressive when they came out. So, I didn?t hire them. The estimate was for $4000. It was fairly competitive. The representative did not seem all that interested or focused on giving the quote. He was asking questions about the personal belongings in the house. He didn?t take a lot of notes. He didn?t seem thorough and detailed when he wrote the quote. It was very concerning because I knew there were lot of issues that needed to be discussed and put in writing. I do not know how effective they are as I didn?t use them. I had to keep calling them back. I will not use them again in the future.

I can sum up my assessment of TKO Painting with just three words; Hire This Company! My wife and I recently became homeowners for the first time and bought the rear unit of a two on a lot townhome in Redondo Beach. The paint job for both units was the original paint, and was in very sad shape. After getting to know our neighbors, we agreed that it was time to get the complex painted. We each set about the job of getting quotes and deciding upon a contractor. I used Angie’s List, BBB, and some word of mouth from family and friends, and then we started the “auditions”. We were quickly able to weed out a few when they failed to return phone calls or missed appointments to meet. Finally we were left with three possibles, all had come in within $500 of each other, and all had met with us to discuss the project. It was at this point that TKO clearly began to stand out. Troy provided us with a very detailed quote of exactly how the painting process would proceed, the materials that would be used, and the estimated time it would take from start to finish. The other quotes were far less complete, and far less professional. Troy took the time to meet with both homeowners on several occasions to answer questions and assist us in the selection of the color scheme. Once we had narrowed the color choices down to about 3 possible color combinations, Troy arranged to have small patches of the buildings painted in those colors so that we could actually see, in varying light, what the final result would look like. Troy had the paint samples put on not once, or twice, but three times so that we were all comfortable in our selection. This extra step was key to selecting the perfect color combination. In my opinion this was going above and beyond. Once the work began it was absolutely professional and meticulous. The crew spent a half day power washing in order to get every nook and cranny. TKO also adjusted their work to accommodate a termite treatment company, so that treatment could be done between the power washing and the start of painting. Included in TKO’s quote was repair and replacement of wood surfaces as needed. This was done judiciously, and flawlessly. TKO’s attention to detail was truly remarkable. The crew spent the first two days of the job just applying caulking. The construction techniques of this 1986 built house apparently did not include any thought given to sealing cracks. This step, and the time and care taken to do it right, was crucial to the overall quality of the finished product. Throughout the course of the week long job, the crew was courteous and accommodating. Always starting work after both families had left for work, and providing access whenever needed during the day, and always with a smile. Troy was also available throughout, guiding the crew, and answering any questions that popped up. The attention to detail was incredible. The proof is in the finished product. Our 24 year old 2 unit townhouses now look updated, contemporary, and frankly brand new. Once the job was completed, Troy suggested that we study every inch and report on any defects. This list (all very minor items) was then provided to TKO, and a single "detail" man was dispatched right away to address every one. Beyond this attention to detail, Troy informed us that should we ever find any other issues, just call up TKO, and they would take care of them the same way, just as quickly. Extra paint was left with us just for this purpose. TKO Painting, Troy, the crew, and the whole staff treated our house as if it was their own from start to finish. The job came in on time, on the money, and at a level of quality that is extraordinary. Again, three words; Hire This Company!

TKO was not the cheapest bid I got but they shared my concerns about repairing some stucco damage properly and about trying to maximize the life of the paint on the wood trim. They did a terrific job, and everything was clean, quiet, and professional throughout.

It went great I couldn't have been more happy with the results. Troy and his crew did a great job, he was very accommodating throughout the entire process.

Preparation and painting went very well; very thorough; pressure wash, caulking and painting. Kevin, (Co-owner) was at the job site everyday.

It was excellent working with them, this was the first time I had used their services. They were able to complete the working in the time frame given. I liked that they were always on time and always cleaned up very well. The owner would call or stop by almost every day to make sure everything was going ok. They were thorough and professional.

Walter is their "ace"; he is the foreman. He treats the job like his own home, but the real key is their "prep" work. They cover all surfaces not to be painted. The power washed everything. My house is just what I envisioned; A Nantucket Shore House. Needless to say, they got the inside repair job and the outside decks and arbors, and new stucco coated block wall. Best testimony of all ...a local very high quality developer .... building a very high end custom home hired them for his job ...they are now his main painters ...and have grown to several crews . Best painters I have ever had . growing but owners still involved ....we recommend them to everyone .
