Description of Work: It took me a couple of months to get them to schedule an appointment after first contacting them. When scheduling, I told them I wanted them to inspect the roof and give me a quote on a solar system at the same time. They said they would do that, but sent only the solar salesman initially, so when he showed up, I had to ask him to schedule a roof inspection at a later time. After going over the cost of a solar system at my home, the rep. said he would send me a copy of his quote, and schedule a roof inspection. I never again heard from him, or anyone else from Petersen Dean.

Description of Work: They installed solar panels and associated solar management system on our home. The salesman was down-to-earth, didn't pressure us nor did he make exaggerated claims like the two other companies we contacted. The installation team was prompt, efficient and left the area spotless. The administrative team helped us transition with our power company and kept us well informed during the whole process.

Description of Work: Our house is situated on a fairly steep hillside in Orinda. The roof has begun to look bad and has lost a few of its composite asphalt shingles. Like a lot of people, we were concerned about the strong possibility of heavy rains this winter. | | We decided to get an estimate for repair or replacement of our roof as well as our deteriorating gutters. We saw some positive reviews on Yelp for Petersen Dean, so I called the company. Nice response from the person who took my call. The representative called to make an appointment shortly thereafter. Sort of a hard sell over the phone about how wonderful the company is and how necessary it probably would be to get the roof taken care of ASAP. He also e-mailed me a link to beautiful brochures depicting different type of shingle types and gutters. | | Our appointment was scheduled for 1 p.m. on a Tuesday so I came home from work to be there. He called, moved it back, arrived around 2:30. So far, no problem. But he looked at our roof & had a quizzical look on his face. Seemed like he wanted to get out of there. After we discussed various shingle options, he said that his company does a huge number of what he called "cookie-cutter" roofs. Our roof, he said, had a steep pitch and the access to it was difficult. He said he'd be unable to give me a replacement estimate because the roof presented challenges he couldn't assess. He took a photo of the roof; said he would pass it on to one of the more experienced estimators at Petersen Dean; and that this other representative would contact me within the next few days to provide an estimate. | | No one from the company contacted me after this. After ten days, I called the cell number of the rep again. He had a hard time remembering me. I told him our address and reminded him he'd promised to have someone contact me. He made no apology, just curtly told me that he'd "run it [the roofing proposal] up the flagpole" and that "nobody had any interest in doing it." I told him it'd have been nice had someone called to tell me that and he hung up. So: can't say they did a bad job because it was beyond their ability to handle. But terrible customer relations. | | P.S. I subsequently found Precision Roofing, who have told me the roof does not need replacing and that they can handle the needed repairs. No such assessment that roof does not need replacement from the Peterson Dean representative who came and saw it.

Description of Work: Made an appointment two weeks in advance but they did not show up. After 5 hours of waiting I called and they said their estimated was tied up and I would now have to wait another two weeks for and appointment for an estimate. Rescheduled the appointment they showed up and promised a quote within 24hrs. After 4 days of not receiving a quote I called and was told I would have to have another of their estimators come out again in 2 weeks. That would have made 6 weeks plus 9 hours of waiting to merely get a quote. Cancelled them and will never work with them.

Description of Work: I used Petersen Dean Roofing to re-roof our home with concrete ties. They arrived ontime and kept me constantly updated on the status and progress of job. The entire job was completed in the time frame quoted - 7 days which included a weekend. The quality of the installation was superior with attention to detail.

Description of Work: Peterson Dean installed a 24 panel system on my home. The quality of materials, installation was good. I monitored the installations and had to ask for some adjustments. Had I not, i would not have been as pleased. Overall completion time was longer than initially estimated. System seems to work well, and I am overall satisfied.

Description of Work: The sales rep looked at the satellite view of my house and said I had too much shadow from the neighbor's tree. I told the guy I am well aware of the shade issue but that I was only looking for enough solar generation to offset the power used to heat my hot tub. Going by a satellite view alone, there is no way to see that there is ample area of roof that receive no shadow at all. In any case, modern panels are far more efficient and are not as compromised by shade as older versions. To that point, Germany, far further north in latitude and overcast much of the year manages to generate over 20% of it's domestic electric power via roof-top solar. I think they are just too lazy to actually come out and do a proper assessment and bid. I'm fine that they don't want my business, I am sure someone else will.

Description of Work: Petersen Dean provided us with a concise cost estimate and were very forthcoming regarding price and what would be included in the package. This was for 18 solar panels installed on our roof. The communication was excellent with the representative, Rex Jarrett. Unfortunately, they were out bid for comparable work, so we reluctantly went with another contractor. We had given Petersen Dean $1000 up front, and they refunded the money with little delay after we turned down a contract modification that required a more expensive inverter system.
